Embarrassed to say I have been coming to White Mountain Creamery since 1985… and it has always been awesome, one of the best ice cream stores in New England! This place is cute and quaint. The workers are local college students who serve with a smile. The portions are generous. The Sundae us a Masterpiece, it comes with a full size brownie, two large scoops of ice cream and 2 toppings of your choice (oreos, fudge sauce, fresh whipped cream) if you ever have the privilege of going here please please try their chocolate topping - it is seriously the best chocolate sauce I have ever tasted Hands down! The 2 scoop ice cream served in a waffle bowl was delicious. The ice cream tastes like it was churned in front of you and served fresh. You can taste the cream and the flavor of pure vanilla in every spoon, the chocolate ice cream is kindness in a scoop. This place is conveniently located and speaks to old time icecream on long summer nights with family and friends. I especially liked the nostalgia it embarks.

The ice cream is great and creamy. I got a small cone of strawberry ice cream and it tasted so good. The only problem which is not really a problem for me but might be for others is that the small waffle cone is huge so you get a ton of ice cream. I recommend this if you are tired of boring grocery store ice cream and want fresh homemade ice cream.

I absolutely love this place, regardless of the fact that prices have steadily risen over the years. Best place around BC to stop by and grab a sundae, frappe, or quart to go. The whipped cream is FRESH, and extra creamy. The hot fudge is super thick, luscious, and genuinely fudgy. None of that hot chocolate syrup on top of half melted ice cream and a quarter teaspoon of chopped nuts stuff that the “friendly” places of the world serve up 😉. This place is the real deal. My go to’s are the hot fudge sundae and the Jamaican Rum Frappe (made with real Myers Rum for that authentic rum taste). Let me tell you, that frappe will blow your mind and I always make sure I grab a quart of the Jamaican Rum ice cream to go, just in case it’s been a while and I can’t make it out from central MA to get my fix. Plus the hard working college kids behind the counter do an excellent job, and show some real determination and hustle, turning out orders faster than a lot of places that have more people behind the counter than I have fingers and toes. Check this place out if you’re in the area! You will not be disappointed.

White Mountain makes great ice cream at a competitive price, which is served by an extremely friendly staff. They have a variety of flavors for enjoyment in house or quarts of ice cream available for quick pickup. Our favorite is "Cookie Monster", which is a must for any chocolate lover. The location is across from BC. So if you are driving in, be cognizant of the limited parking and sometimes large crowds from BC. You can't go wrong with WMC!

This ice cream is good. The cake batter might be some if the best I have had yet. The 8nside looks like it has never been changed since it has opened, and that's part of the local charm. If students are in school a line might exist.

Great Ice Cream and great service! I tried this place based upon the recommendation of a friend and was pleasantly surprised. I tried the chocolate hand packed pint and found it to be delicious. Not too sugary and the texture was creamy smooth. The prices are reasonable, too.

One of my favorite ice cream shops. Without a doubt the raspberry sorbet is the best ever. Also love the coffee Heathbar crunch. Unfortunately the almond joy and maple walnut are not available as often as I’d like. Staff is friendly and portions are large. Fortunately it’s far enough away that I can’t get there as often as I’d like!

A down-to-earth, a great place to grab some hand scooped ice cream. The flavors are amazing, the prices are just right, and the portions are plentiful. This has a nice small business feel and we love supporting it. The reason why so many people live in keep coming back as due to the amazing flavors and the huge variety than are available. Whether it's sorbet, frozen yogurt, or old school hand packed ice cream, this place has what you want.

This place is a good bet, as evidenced by people lining out the door some nights in the summer, or on a Boston College orientation night. Lots of flavors to choose from, made in house, with some really great flavor combos. When I still ate stuff with wheat in it, the Cookie Monster ice cream was hands-down my favorite. Oreo and cookie dough ice cream with cookie crumbles. This also makes for an amazing ice cream cake; though admittedly, pretty hard to cut into slices. They lose points because sometimes the flavors are pretty subdued; for instance the first time I tried the strawberry ice cream I could barely taste it, but the other night I decided to go for it again and it was great. A bit more consistency in the strength of flavor would do wonders. Also, the line system is really awkward. One person will help a whole group get their ice cream, no matter how large the group is or how complicated the order is. If there's no one else behind that group, that means there are workers just standing around watching their coworker work without doing anything. If there's a big line, it's very inefficient and causes a back up. Also, scoop sizes vary wildly between employees, who seem to be hired and leave on a rotating basis. Overall though, totally worth coming here and it's our regular ice cream place. If it's busy though, just don't expect to get in and out fast.

Absolutely delicious ice cream! They have so many flavors and try to create some specialty ones to have on hand during different times of the year - cookie monster and pumpkin are definitely a go to! My only complaint is the brownie sundae which had a very dry brownie on the bottom and was not filled very much ice cream. Nevertheless, the banana split is WORTH IT!

White Mountain Creamery has amazing ice cream! I thoroughly enjoy the college aesthetic of this place. They have many posters and banners to support the local Boston College. The employees are wonderful and friendly, and they can't be more helpful wanting you to receive the best flavor of ice cream they can offer. I recommend this ice cream shop to any tourist, local, or student. I will definitely be visiting this place again.

Excellent, top quality ice cream. This shop has a great feel to it. Located right across from Boston College, it has a good young vibe often filled with students and locals. The walls are decorated with cool old photos from Allston and Brighton. There are also photos of the old trolley service. There are schedules and tributes to many of the Boston College men's and women's sports teams. As for the ice cream, there are many flavors and toppings. I honestly feel that this is the best ice cream in New England. I have tried many ice cream shops. This one is the best! Very creamy...and they give very generous servings. Enjoy!

The White Mountain Creamery is fun, local, and casual. Frequently I see small groups of students getting ice cream on a warm night, or parents taking their kids out for a cone. The menu of ice creams is extensive, and a smaller selection of specialty ice creams provide a refreshing surprise for every season.

Best ice cream place in the entire Boston area. Their new cookie monster is the best. Cookie dough, oreo, and something else, vanilla based. My favorite ice cream. It's dense, but in the creamy sense and not icy/airy. Also, their hot fudge is amazing. I can't get enough of White Mountain and I grew up eating it. Much better than other well known ice cream shops! Also the servings are very healthy and it's a good price.

This place has awesome ice cream and a pretty great flavor rotation. In addition to the staples, they rotate in things like tiramisu, cookie monster (kinda like a cookie dough with the pieces grounded in), and raspberry sorbet. They make all their ice cream and whip cream in-house if you are one of those people who can taste that (I can't). Prices are very reasonable but there are some quirks: medium is cheaper than 2 scoops but I feel like it's the same thing. Check the board to see which one is cheaper and ask for two flavors off of that. i.e. "medium with half choc and half vanillia" or "1 scoop choc and 1 scoop vanilla" Either way, it's under $5 for a medium/2 scoop with generous proportions.

Very good ice cream but I'm knocking off a star because I asked for walnuts and the girl goes to the back and puts a huge handful of unchopped walnuts on my ice cream. It was seriously 1/3 walnuts. This lack of ice cream consciousness is frankly dispiriting. Also the menu is illegible when you're in line, which is annoying.

Their ice cream may not be the very best in Boston, but their hot fudge and whipped cream (thickly home-made in a stainless steel bowl, no aerosol) are top-notch. The "small sundae" is so decadent you may wish you made arrangements for last rites from B.C. across the street.

Little know fact: White Mountain Creamery has a gumball machine. Unfortunately they put it behind a wall instead of in the windows so it is poorly advertised. If they did a better job arranging their assets they would have earned that 5th star.
