Lizzy's is the best ice cream in the greater Boston area. Hands down, all-around. The ice cream is homemade and is consistently creamy and delicious. They even added dairy-free options that are the tastiest I have ever had (and since having to switch to dairy-free, I have shopped around for a quality dairy-free ice cream, and Lizzy's does it better than any ice cream shop in the area, including better than anything you can find at the supermarket). The hot fudge and whipped cream are also homemade! Overall, such quality ingredients. The service has the same high quality as the ice cream. The portions and quality of ice cream match the price point, and the portions are consistently a reasonable size. The servers are kind and patient. Additionally, I have had a birthday party at Lizzy's and gotten their ice cream catered to another party. On both occasions, everything was neatly set-up/packaged, the price point was fair, and everything was ready for set-up/pick-up on time. My family and I love Lizzy's and tell all of our friends and family about it! If you want a reliable, delicious ice cream experience, go here :)

It was my first time at Lizzy's tonight and I will definitely be back! Along with the ice cream being delicious, I would like to write how impressed I was with that staff member who made our ice cream! I am someone with Celiac, so I cannot eat gluten. I was excited to see there were gluten free cones. When I asked for a gluten free cone, the young man making our sundaes was quick to ask me "is this a gluten allergy or preference? I would like to make sure so I can wash my hands change gloves, make sure you can have the ice cream and use a clean scoop." I was shocked! Anyone with a food allergy, intolerance or celiac will understand how stressful it is to eat out, unsure if serious precautions are taken to avoid cross - contamination, and without me even asking, he told me exactly what steps he was going to take to avoid gluten. Thank you! :)

I knew abt this ice cream place from Phantom Gourmet Food festival last fall and finally made it there. Walked in and beat the big rush!! Guy was polite, I asked for coconut and a sample of ginger, which was good. Ordered both and sat in store to enjoy it. I highly recommend it for ice cream flavor variety, inside store and staff.

Glass dishes, metal spoons, and free ice water in real glasses may not matter much to some, but after eating ice cream all day out of disposable bowls with sometimes serrated plastic spoons, Lizzy's was a very welcomed stop. A more refined ice cream shop of yore, this Waltham institution produces blue-ribbon ice cream in all the usual flavors, including a few surprises, like Cantaloupe or Charles River Crunch. Lizzy's also boasts a take-out shop in Harvard Square.

They sell fabulous Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt. I had their Coffee Oreo Frozen Yogurt in a sugar cone dipped in chocolate sprinkles. My friend had their Raspberry Swirl Chocolate Chip Frozen Yogurt. A good time was had by all!

I haven’t been here in 15 years was just one block down recently. Stopped in for ice cream dinner! If I was local I would not get the Charles River Flavor - as I got one teeny toffee. The Cinnamon Flavor brought me back. And lots of walnuts made up for no toffees! Love Lizzy’s And will visit again someday!

Great homemade ice cream! This place has lots of great flavors and their portion sizes are pretty large. I personally love the salted caramel pretzel and the chocolate cookie dough. They also have sundaes and flavor samplers, as well as coffees, teas, and some food. Their staff is super nice, and there's plenty of tables inside to sit at or to hangout while eating your ice cream. Overall, this is a great place to come after dinner right on Moody Street.

I have no idea why I didn't leave a review sooner. This is hands down my most favorite ice cream place in all of Massachusetts. The raspberry chocolate chip flavor is just the right amount of tartness balanced by the soft bitter, grounding aftertaste of the dark chocolate chips (which they are NOT stingy with); if you are someone who loves cold treats but not the heavy, sugary aftertaste of most franchise ice creams, I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend.

Not sure what the real hype is. I got a banana sundae and it was mediocre at best. Maybe I missed what they’re known for. Perhaps I’ll try them again in the future and see if there’s anything I like better. Overall just another ice cream shop on a busy street. Covid seating available in the other room.

Ice cream is my ultimate Achilles heel and as much as I appreciate store brands like Talenti gelato and Magnum for convenience sake, scratch-made ice cream is always way better. I was over the moon when I discovered Lizzy's on Moody St right around the corner from my S.O.'s apartment. They have an amazing selection of flavors, so far having tried and been wholly impressed by mint oreo, regular oreo, French vanilla, coffee, cinnamon, and ginger. In addition to the various sundaes on offer, pints and quarts are available for purchase as are ice cream cakes, slices of cheesecake and pie, and cookies. They often have a line out front (a great sign IMO) but they work through it pretty fast. All their ice cream is made on site and it is silky, creamy and decadent. If you're in the area for lunch or dinner, save room for dessert at Lizzy's!

Very nice place. There is extra seating in a separate room. The owner is nice enough to let us use it as a ukulele meeting place so we play music here every other Monday. The ice cream is delicious and they always give you a good bit. Their small is actually still quite large. It's a nice place to sit and chat and have an ice cream or some tea with someone.

Really yummy ice cream but really expensive for what it is I asked for a Sunday medium (2 flavors) plus a medium steamed milk drink and it came out with a 15% yip to be 19.20. At Jordan's furniture you can get a whole banana split for just 7 bucks and it is huge with three flavors. Also the staff did not understand what I was asking for and were not clear. Took way too long to order. But the ice cream was yummy and they did have lots of chocolate sauce like overflowing

Lizzy's is an absolutely delightful experience. The ice cream is top notch and made on site. They have a ton of different flavors to choose from, and even have a vegan option (though I haven't tried it). As with most local ice cream vendors, beware of the sizes. If you are from out of town and want a human sized portion of ice cream a small is probably enough for you.

Lizzy's would have gotten four stars, and I have a feeling this post will be amended upon another visit, as I'll explain. We went one night last week. There was a line to the door, but it moved fast. Service was friendly and generally good. The prices are reasonable. I got Oreo Mint, and my girlfriend got Charles River crunch. The ice cream itself was awesome: creamy and fluffy, and really nice. The reason for 3 stars instead of four is that there were 3 chunks of Oreo in a medium Mint Oreo, and that's not an exaggeration. If you're gonna call it "Oreo", you actually gotta put some oreos in it! Otherwise it was some of the beat mint ice cream I've had.

Pros: Great ice cream! Good selection of flavors. Friendly staff. Bathroom in the back. A "small" size is more than enough for an adult serving. Cons: Limited seating. Counters, tables and floor could be a bit cleaner. Lizzy's is Waltham's answer to J.P. Licks. Perfect for a sweet ending to your evening after dining at one of Moody street's many fine restaurants.

Lizzys is usually pretty good, but the past few months it hasn’t lived up to its old self. I asked for a kiddie cup and they gave me a large cone. I asked for a new one and she said she was sorry, but didn’t redo my ice cream. The ice cream ended up tipping out of the cone since she didn’t do a good job. There's ample seating in the Waltham location and, being on Moody Street, you can eat in the shop or, if it's nice out, walk over to the river.
