Quick stop in for an ice cream sandwich. We walked but there is some street parking. I was excited to see a GF cookie option (because a cup of ice cream just isn’t the same as a sando.) I had the GF peanut butter cookies with campfire chocolate ice cream. The serving was size-able for the $7 price. Overall, it hit the spot although I was hoping for a little more “campfire” excitement in the ice cream. The shop is cute and makes for a somewhat quick and unique dessert option.

We got four ice cream cookies. Ice cream itself was good. The thing I didn't like was that the chocolate chip cookies were hard, and the double chocolate was soft. It just made it difficult to eat without making a mess. Water pitcher inside was also empty.

I’f you want a unique and delicious dessert this is the place. I absolutely loved my mint chocolate chip ice cream and cookie sandwich. I could barely finish. Worth the money!! Very friendly staff as well.

Ahh what can I say. Been coming here for a few years and they never disappoint! Their vanilla plant based ice cream sandwich is to die for 😵‍💫! I have literally been driving here an hour from Morganton just for that specific reason a few times lol. They have other plant based options now that I have yet to try but definitely will next time I come around!!

We chose to use Sunshine Sammies as an "alternative" dessert at our wedding in August at The Barn at Honeysuckle Hill and it was the best decision EVER! Sunshine Sammies set up their truck outside and we had 4 ice cream sandwich flavors for guests to choose from. Every single one of our guests said it was the most fun dessert concept they've seen at a wedding and loved all of the flavors. We even had the vegan vanilla as an option for some of our vegan/ dairy-free guests and it was one of the best ones. Overall, it was so fun to have this option and that key lime ice cream sandwich was extra good after a night of dancing :) Would recommend Sunshine Sammies to anyone looking for a fun, delicious dessert at their wedding! Unique dessert idea. Everything was delicious and perfect. The cookies were the right amount of softness to still hold the ice cream together. I do wish it came in a different container instead of a paper bag to make it easier and less sloppy to eat, possibly a small card stock box type thing similar to the shape of a napkin holder would help.

Great ice cream sandwich place. Huge portions, friendly employees, and delicious ice cream. They have a menu of popular combos, but you can choose any cookie and ice cream flavor. It's a nice selection, too. Everything tastes great. Looking forward to visiting again.

My happy place in Asheville. The creative seasonal creations are amazing - both of our sammies were a huge hit! They don't short you on the ice cream, and the cookies are perfectly malleable to make sure your ice cream doesn't end up going everywhere. A perfect dessert!

The vegan options were disappointing. The day we went they had vanilla and mint chocolate and they both tasted watery/lacked flavor. Since I really wanted to try it I got a Sammie anyway with the vegan chocolate chip cookie and vegan vanilla ice cream. The cookie was delicious. Very very very messy and do not recommend eating in the car, even if you’re not driving. It melts very quickly and when you take a bite ice cream falls out of the bottom of the sammie. Most of the ice cream ended up being a pool of liquid in the paper bag before I was able to finish it

It’s gonna be your favorite ice cream sandwhich bar none! So many flavors of ice cream and delicious cookies to choose from. We had the Caramel Sammie which consisted of salted caramel ice cream + chocolate cookies. So good!! Make your night by having this fun dessert!

Great place to have an ice cream sandwich in Asheville. The interior is bright and airy, and filled with the smell of freshly baked cookies. I had a mint chip sandwich with chocolate chip cookies, and for $5 it's hard to beat the chocolatey minty goodness!

Delicious! They are currently doing pre-made sandwiches, bc covid, but we were still super happy with our choices. We tried the blueberry muffin, the caramel, The cookie dough, and the peach. We also tried a couple of the sodas. All of it was delicious! Will definitely be back.

My husband and I were in town for 48 hours and went to Sunshine Sammies 3 times! The flavors were so amazing we had to keep coming for more! The cookies and ice cream were perfectly soft making it really easy to eat. The fall seasonal flavor pumpkin spice latte with snickerdoodle cookies was out of this world! Definitely recommend for a sweet treat in Asheville.

I love this place! I had the chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream (adventurous..not!) and it was so yummy. My husband had mint chocolate chip icecream with a chocolate cookie. He said the cookie overpowered the taste of the ice cream, but was still really good. A nice place to drop in for a quick sweet treat!

Eating some ice cream Sammie’s after eating some great mex food at Sonoras. I try the goat cheese ice cream with local honey on a pecan butter cookie and a graham cracker because they were out of pecan! The result was mouthwatering, I will definitely come back and try more flavors but I love the goat cheese.

Don't quite think we'll come back here again. It was good for us to try it though. The lady taking our order didn't smile or greet us or offer up suggestions. She just stood there staring at us until we told her what we wanted. I enjoyed my strawberry patch (strawberry ice cream between sugar cookies). Cookies were soft. My husband's chocolate cookies were so hard....he didn't like them at all. Our main issue is that it's a very thick layer of soft ice cream between two cookies. As soon as you take your first bite the thick layer of ice cream just shoots out the back of your sandwich....landing on the table/floor/your hands. They are just so messy and hard to eat. Honestly a stressful eating experience!

OMG.....Sunshine Sammies brightened up our day for sure!!! This is a really supper neat spot, we got 2 Sammies with dark chocolate cookies with salted caramel ice cream and vanilla bean ice! The portion size was great and worth the money...literally two tasty cookies with cold ice cream in between! We are from the Raleigh-Durham area and travel to Asheville at least 3x a year , we would highly recommend! Parking in small deck first hour free....so as long as your in and out no charge!

Was looking forward to trying this local brand. Sadly disappointed. Tasty but not impressed with "key lime" flavoring. It is there but faint. The amount of ice cream per size of wafer is disappointing. Don't see the value for $7.50 from the truck.

Love it! I dont tend to like ice-cream I won't normally choose it as a dessert. But I love Sunshine Sammies!!! I had a wonderful experience where I got to Try a bunch of different flavors because the cockies were a little cracked and I liked all of them. Went back a year later and tried a new fun smores flavored one and loved that as well. Great place to try new things. Well worth the walk.

This dessert and coffee place is just perfect. You can't get a better tasting cookie/icecream sandwich that I know. They use locally and organically sourced ingredients and you'll wait the 5-10 minutes happily (if there's a line) to get your handful of magic. The cold brew that I ordered was good, but prefer it not to have ice so it makes me think it might be stored or brewed differently than I'm accustomed. I will not doing a star for that in the slightest though. This place is what you want out of life: A pleasant and glorious reprieve from our busy schedules.

Best place for dessert in downtown Asheville! Freshly baked cookies and ice cream made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients available. Vegan options available, too! I splurged for the Classic Dough - a couple modest scoops of cookie dough ice cream beautifully nestled between two chocolate chip cookies. I’d call this the American dream. Highly recommend, especially if your group is torn between wanting different dessert options. Cookies, ice cream and toppings all available for customization! My only suggestion is to offer *mini* sammies.

Really delicious and an incredibly friendly staff! The seasonal and featured flavors are really inventive and super tasty. Definitely a really fun place to bring kids, and a really good whimsical stop on a hot day. Is it the best dessert/treat spot in Ashville? Eh, Probably not. Would I go again? Oh of course. Also the ice cream sandwiches are monster sized which is awesome but I couldn’t finish mine. So maybe go halvesies.

Don't let the photo deceive you, they are bigger than they look! My partner and I could have split one, though I'm glad we didn't. We got the key lime ice cream sandwich and the blueberry basil ice cream sandwich. We will come back! The cookies were bomb and so was the ice cream.

Loved it. Had the "Origin" and it was delicious. Wife had a dark chocolate cookie sandwich with chocolate ice cream and peanut butter which was also amazing. It was worth the extra Uber ride from West Asheville. The outdoor seating was limited, although there's plenty of space for more. We will definitely come back.

I loved my Sammie! The cookie dough ice cream on chocolate chip cookies was the bomb! However I will note my husband replied meh to his snickerdoodle icecream but ate it all. My son had cookie dough icecream and said it wasn't like DQ....🙄 I digress. My other son loved his kids scoop with sprinkles. It is very small but he loved the mini size of it.

Shame they only had one vegan ice cream and it was vanilla. The people working are sweet and kind, plus you can try to make sure you like your choice. This place is amazing! Their flavors are all great and I love some of the more unique ones (like grape and rosemary). The cookies are soft and delicious and they are easy to eat without it falling apart or squishing the ice cream out. It’s also cool that you can find their sandwiches in some stores locally, as well.

We really enjoyed our treats from Sunshine Sammies! The salted caramel ice cream sandwich was delicious and my friend really liked her cookie dough sandwich as well. Everything was pretty reasonably priced. I was impressed by how well the ice cream sandwiches held up as we were walking around while eating them and the ice cream didn’t slide off and make a mess. Definitely check this place out for a yummy treat!

Very glad S.S. went brick and mortar! We always loved the wonderful surprise of seeing the truck at a festival or outside a brewery, but now we know exactly where to get our fix. Might be a problem ;). The shop was very clean and staff very friendly. I will say the handheld menus were easier to understand than the ones suspended. Looking up at the chalkboards and deciphering what you wanted was difficult. Lastly, there's nothing Sunshine about the interior of the space. More like muted, modern industrial on a cloudy day. Let's see some color! Regardless, the Sammies were delicious as always and congrats on the building!

Ice cream was great tasting. But when we went back 2 days later we got to the counter and they informed us they were out of like every flavor. Chocolate, vanilla and cookie dough were the most surprising. There was no signage and to get to the counter after waiting in a long line to just turn around is disappointing.

Normally I don't stand in line as I'm too impatient, but these looked so good that I did. I'm glad I waited. There were just 3 younger workers, but they took orders, made the Sammies and baked the cookies. They were great at their jobs! The Sammie I ordered was the graham cracker cookie with the milk chocolate ice cream - it was delicious! It was so worth the wait. I actually shared it with somebody and if you're not too hungry that's a good option but this is really worth eating the whole thing! Would definitely go back.

These Ice Cream Sandwiches are delicious. I had only tried the pre-made ones until the other day. Having a fresh one made up is the way to go. Their chocolate cookie has a little bit of a ginger snap flavor. I had the seasalt caramel with the sugar cookie it was so good.

We had a fantastic experience working with Sunshine Sammies for our wedding! We were from out of town and communication with Susie was easy throughout the entire process; from rescheduling to picking flavors. Everyone loved the ice cream cart set-up and raved about the flavors. We coudn't recommend them enough for a fun alternative to the usual wedding cake!

Sunshine Sammies was delicious! The servings are huge and they have some unique cookie and ice cream flavors. It was fairly busy on the Tuesday evening we visited and they had tables outdoors. They are dog friendly so it was fun to have some dining partners. One less star because the staff was not overly friendly.

Passing through and stopped here. We got the cookie dough sammie, but the cookies were hard. The sammie could be so much better if the cookies were soft, but it still tasted good and I'm sure this is just a preference thing.

Loved this place! Cute little patio. Did a great job with cleanliness and social distancing. Their sandwiches were delicious! I got Key Lime Pie (which part of the proceeds went to the Southern Poverty Law Center) and it was delicious and citrusy! My friend had the vegan peanut butter, which she loved! Would recommend for a sweet treat after a long day of touring or hiking!

Delicious! I didn't commit to the full cookie sandwich but more of a cookie taco - one snickerdoodle cookie with strawberry + pretzel ice cream. So yummy! The pretzels weren't crunchy anymore, of course, but they added a nice salt flavor to balance the sweetness of the strawberry. The snickerdoodle cookie was perfectly soft and chewy. My husband got the cold brew cookies and cream ice cream (amazing) with a chocolate chip cookie, which he said wasn't soft but still tasty!

I was here yesterday as a visitor from Chapel Hill and I had a craving for an ice cream so I decided to stop here on my stroll. I ordered the cookie dough one and it was very delicious and I was satisfied. It tasted so homemade and I could tell right away, the ingredients they use to make their sandwiches and ice cream is real, and nothing artificial which I’m very expectant of. I will definitely be back next time I visit downtown Asheville. Much better than a store brand ice cream sandwich haha!

I had the concord grape and my girlfriend had the cookie dough. They were phenomenal!! The concord grape was amazing; it reminded me of eating grape jelly and the cookie was soft enough to match the ice cream's consistency -- which is how all ice cream sandwiches should be!!

The coffee ice cream was SO GOOD! My husband also enjoyed the salted caramel ice cream sandwiched between two Graham cracker cookies, which he was sweet to let me try. It was also VERY VERY GOOD. Soft ice cream & fantastic cookies. Would definitely recommend and come again (in warmer weather)!

All I have to say is yummmmm. They are really creative and smart with their seasonal flavors, like rhubarb sour cream and key lime pie, and the cookies they pair the ice creams with for the ice cream sandwiches are very good. I also like the vibe of this place, because everyone seemed friendly and the people working here were very nice. I also like that they support other local businesses by selling their drinks and suggesting fun dessert ideas like ice cream floats. There is a small outdoor seating area which makes it dog friendly, which is great for people looking to relax and get to know their neighbors! I didn't get one of them but I appreciate that they also have vegan options as desserts. I would definitely love to come back.

Definitely our favorite ice cream place in the city!! Theirs is more flavorful and more creamy than all the others we’ve tried. My husband is crazy about the mint chocolate chip cookie sandwich (I think it’s pretty awesome, too!). I’ve always gotten the the brownie sundae. If you do this, be prepared for a large serving! The brownie is huge!! They warm it (of course) but by the time I’m half way through, it does cool and harden a bit. On my last visit, I added a topping of their house-made cookie dough bits - so good! I might have to skip the brownie and just get a lot of those next time. On a different note, they also have SMORES! They make their own graham crackers and marshmallows. The crackers are the perfect consistency and don’t fall apart after you take a bite. The marshmallow is perfectly toasted and perfectly fluffy and light. Parking can be nearly impossible, so good luck. Also, there’s only ever one person working and things move slow. But there’s one four top table and seating all along the window, so plenty of room for a large group.

Worth the drive! My mom and me both got sandwiches. I loved the Apple Brie with the graham cracker cookies, my mom got the cookie dough and didn’t like it as much. I think she will get something else next time. But the Apple Brie was amazing. Look forward to returning.

Both were delicious; the cookies were soft and light, but sturdy enough to hold the ice cream without falling to pieces, and the ice cream itself was very flavorful and dense and creamy. First time I had Sunshine Sammy s was out of the truck at a festival by the river, it was heaven. Now they have a brick and mortar place, it's even better. They make artisnal ice cream sandwiches. Hand baked cookies surrounding fresh made ice cream. Amazing flavor combinations and a fluid menu make it an adventure. They've even started to serve breakfast goodies and gourmet versions of classic pastries like Pop Tarts and Twinkies. Great quick stop, morning or night.

Dang, Sammies! I just thought I would hang on the balcony of my hotel and enjoy my little mint chocolate chip ice cream sandwich, but after the 1st bite...I had to stop and take a pic. Soooo Good!! So, Sunshine Sammies is a pick up spot with seating outside. The sandwiches are pre-packaged, so very quick pick up. I wasn't expecting them to be pre-packaged and I was pretty bummed...until the next day when I cracked open the plastic wrapping and tasted the ice cream snack of my dreams. Seriously if you're in Asheville, go buy you a Sammie, or buy several. They are really tasty 😋

Entering the winter months they may not be a popular choice, but when you're craving some ice cream in mid July this place is a must go. I found the inside to be clean, bright, and spacious-feeling. Information about the product was initially lacking with no ingredient or nutrition details found on the menu. The front staff seemed slightly baffled that I would ask for such info but was quick to impress on the fact that the items were locally acquired. The ice cream was actually very good for which I did not mind paying the high cost. But the amount of ice cream that I received was so small, it was like receiving a generous sample - a "scoop" could have fit onto a teaspoon in my kitchen. And it is even served with a cute (tiny) spoon which is needed to keep from consuming the little ball of ice cream in a matter of seconds. I am not a large person, and I tend to order the small sizes of things. Yet I left here feeling unfilled and ready to go somewhere else and get ice cream. I would consider this an interesting one-time visit but not so much as a regular, unless perhaps you are made of money.

Usually we get stuck with a "flavorless vegan vanilla blah" at other establishments, but the options here were both varied and delicious.

We were looking for dessert while in Asheville and found this place on Yelp. How could we turn down an ice cream sandwich place?? It was so hard to decide what to order because everything looked so good. We ended up getting the pecan pie ice cream sandwich and the Craggy Garden (snickerdoodle with blueberry basil ice cream). Both were absolutely delicious. I might have liked the pecan pie one a little more, but it's hard to tell because they were both so good. Both the cookies and and ice cream were very good. These were no small ice cream sandwiches either. They came with three scoops of ice cream each. There isn't much seating, but we were able to grab one of a few tables outside. If you are in Asheville, I would absolutely recommend coming here! We will definitely be back next time we're in the area!

I love both cookies and ice cream and Sunshine Sammy's is great at both. It is located in downtown Asheville and you have to find parking but it is a fun experience and I enjoy walking around downtown while having an ice cream sandwich

AMAZING!! My husband and I stopped in recently for dessert. He had the brownie sundae and I had the classic s'more sandwich (the traditional one vs. the ice cream option). First of all, you have to love any place that has multiple s'more offerings. My husband loved his sundae and I adored my s'more. S'mores are one of my all time favorite desert combos and this one was the best one I'd ever had. It was just amazing. Loved the cookies, the marshmallow was toasty, tender and perfect - it was the best dessert ever! I really love marshmallows (I'd made some myself just a few days before), and this was a top notch offering. Friendly and helpful staff, fun decor. Loved it!

Small little ice cream joint, casual and friendly atmosphere. I tried a double scoop, one of the Hoppy Lemon Curd and one of the Blueberry Lavender. The lemon scoop did oddly have a hoppy bite to it like an IPA, and while tasty at first, it became a little too much; I would've enjoyed it more at a half scoop. The blueberry scoop on the other hand, was smooth and sweet with a subtle lavender kick to it; I easily would've gotten two scoops of it instead. I'll look forward to coming back to try all the other flavors!!

I had a Snickerdoodle Ice cream on Snickerdoodle Cookie Sandwich. I intended to eat half, but I ended up eating all of mine, and part of my wife's.
