I was a long time visitor of Rochelle’s Ice Cream store before she sold it and retired. In my opinion, the new place lacks the friendly environment and nostalgia that Rochelle’s Ice Cream store offered.
The new place seems much more commercialized and lacks the rustic Alaskan feel to it. New visitors won’t know the difference but I sure did.
While the staff was very friendly and the new place looks quite impressive….. (they put a lot of work into it!!)
…..to me it looks just like another commercialized business took over. I wish they had kept a bit more of the home style feeling that Rochelle’s place offered. Now it seems like stainless steel and cement and seems abrasive and not really that welcoming……. I expected something to be a bit more backwoods and have that type of feeling…. Instead I felt like I walked into a Starbucks or equivalent…. It just seems so out of place in an area where most people cant even get cell phone reception.
My Daughter said the same thing.
You would have had to experience the previous place to know what I’m talking about.
Sadly, the grass has been replaced with cement, and a large cement parking lot is now present and the picnic tables have been been replaced with chairs.
Also, the Ice cream just wasn’t the same and Rochelle had a larger variety.
Im happy that I was able to experience the store when it was run by Tina and her staff before it was sold.
I’ve included some of the pics when it was Rochelle’s place Vs the new place
I wish the new owners success and I really hope they make it less commercialized. It’s definitely not as welcoming.
Will I be back? Maybe, but I don’t get the same “kid like feeling” when it was Rochelle’s and I sat down to have one of her amazing hot fudge sundaes or banana splits.
Again, you would have had to experience the old stores presence to know what I’m talking about.

Friendly service, a bit slow, coffee was delicious, no bears were here. The last part makes me sad. I would definitely come back.

Good soft serve and lots of different flavors of ice cream with big hot dogs and amazing views. Comfy outdoor area.
