This place is a retro goldmine. First of all, they use the best ice cream in the country, Blue Bell. So, come prepared to love the ice cream first and foremost… then be prepared to love the atmosphere and the service. When you come in, you will find the place packed wall-to-wall with memorabilia. Stuff from times past that you will recognize (as well as things that will just peak your interest. The owner also has a treasure box of toys that your loved little one will get to enjoy as their own possession. My granddaughter loves this place. It is a diamond in Albuquerque. Now… when you go… see if your can find the box of Green Giant Nibets Corn. See my picture, then find it at the store… just a little treasure hunt of your own, just for fun!

Absolutely amazing service from a very friendly guy named Bill. (He's the owner) And you simply can't go wrong with that ice cream. There's so much memorabilia pieces in there that Bill has collected over the years. If you're looking for a small taste of nostalgia, give this place a try!

My family loves going to this place. We've been for at least 6 years. The kids love playing with the toys. The ice cream is yummy. Bill is an amazing and makes my kids feel like they are at home. It's very clean and did I mention the ice cream is yummy? There are a lot of blue bell flavors as well as some special ones like Superman. If you can't have dairy, they have some sorbets to choose from. They also have food and other drinks. Don't miss out on this place!

I love this place! Bill is amazing. Today I took my kiddos to get some ice cream. Bill whipped up 5 orders like nothing. As we sat at the table he brought two mini cups of jellybeans just because! He made each one of us smile today. Also love all the nostalgia with his decor! Please go check this place out!

This is such a cute place to go with kids! They serve Bluebell ice cream, and the whole place is decorated with nostalgic memorabilia. The coolest thing is the play area for kids that has a giant selection of toys and games and books, including vintage ones. A pro tip: get your kid his or her ice cream on the way out unless you want to end up eating it yourself. My daughter forgot all about her ice cream. The owner is very friendly and is great talking to kids.

Amazing little sweet treasure that you can find in Albuquerque. Banana split is delicious, the sorbets are just to die for, and the interior is a blast to the past. If you haven't tried here, you need to. The owner is so sweet and amazing. He is so nice and really funny. I was so busy eating the split and sorbet that I forgot to take a picture. Haha

If you like to support local small business, I screen Ice Cream is exactly the kind of place you are looking for. The owner is very friendly and a real character, the inside of the place is covered in every inch in nostalgia collectibles from the 1950s on, and the ice cream and toppings are good too! It's the kind of place that just going to makes you feel better. Plus, you can host an event there as they offer savory foods and even projecting a movie on the side of the building! I have been going to this ice cream shop for years, and recently had a chance to suggest the local BMW club have a meetup there and help this gem of a local ABQ small business. And if you bring your dogs (some outdoor seating), you may be offered a pup cup!

Lovely little ice cream shop, full of nostalgia. The owner is so kind and sweet, his presence made our day. At one point, he asked my daughter if she had a chance to get a toy from the bucket. She said no, he proceeded to walk her over with his arms be his sides. My daughter grabbed his hand and they walked hand in hand to the toy bin. It warmed my heart to see. She took to him as if he was with my granddad, it was so cute. A memory I will hold on to as part of our New Mexico vacation.

Great ice cream. Shakes the old fashioned way. Amazing choice of flavors ie: huckleberry, southern BlackBerry cobbler. Retro sensory overload in decoration, but so fun to look at and brought back so many memories. Will definitely go back.

This place is wonderful! I’m so glad we found this gem. They have 38 flavors of ice cream, tons of toppings and the prices are great. The best part is the decor! It’s a museum of vintage toys, albums, radios, comics, etc. a maximalists dream. There stuff for kids to play with and have fun. It’s very clean and inviting, and the owner is a sweet man. This place is truly unique. I only wish we had found it sooner.

OMG this place is amazing! The... stuff and fun things to look at are entrancing, great toys and games for all ages, but the ice cream.... WOW! tons of flavors and toppings for a great price. I had never heard of "Superman", apparently it tastes like the milk that's left after you eat fruit loops cereal. It was a total childhood flashback and was delicious! Can't wait to go back. I don't know what it is about their ice cream but I have not tasted anything like it! I got blackberry cobbler ice cream and was recommended to add peach ice cream too. Added raspberry sauce and whipped cream and who knew ice cream could be so decadent! My niece got cotton candy ice cream and it was so good and didn't have a weird chemical aftertaste like other ice cream shops. Compared to I scream I scream all the "bigger" ice cream chains ice cream tastes cheap. The ice cream that I scream I scream offers has a quality that is unmatched! They could totally charge more and I'd be glad to pay it! If you go to any other ice cream shop you'll pay more and won't get the quality that I scream I scream has! Treat yourself while supporting local small businesses!

It's like going to meow wolf with mister Rogers. So much fun. I love to meet friends there for a cup of ice cream and a game. There is always something to look at or mess with. There is a kids area in back and the front is for adults, and children accompanied by adults. The one rule is that ice cream stays on the tables. The ice cream is really affordable and there are a lot of good flavors.

Over 1000 reviews and all 5 stars? Gotta be fake right? I was skeptical too but nope, it's truly awesome. Bill is so great and this is the epitome of what small business is all about. He takes great pride in his establishment and is so warm and kind to everyone. Bring the kids to play in the "play room" and bring the adults too. Tons to look at...so much so that it's almost an overload of your visual cortex. Lots of Bluebell ice cream flavors and all sorts of toppings. You won't regret it!

Had exceptional and amazing variety of flavors and also toppings !! From strawberry cheesecake, to cotton candy, and so many more interesting kinds you'd be surprised! The shop looks a bit crowded when you walk in but is filled with nastalgia from posters on the wall, nicknacks, and games for people of all ages from the 1900's. The owner is delightful and funny and provides free samples of however many flavors you want to try. He also stated that all his ice cream is non-GMO and vegan friendly (That doesn't pertain to me but is useful and helpful for some people). This out-of-the-ordinary ice cream shop was the highlight of my day for sure! I recommend for people with kids or any age of that matter.

This place is always a joy. Bill, the owner is always attentive and eager to please. Always helping the community, this locally owned ice cream shop is more than that. There is a huge collection of toys, board games, and books. Great place to meet up with friends with little ones, or just go and play or read. It's kept very clean because Bill always comes around discreetly with the Clorox bottle to wipe down all the items that were used.

He has games and all sorts of memorabilia in the shop. He has a space for kids to run around in, and a separate, quieter area for adults to talk. This is a great little ice cream shop covered head to toe in nostalgia. Kids have toys at every table and a play area to enjoy, and the ice cream is delish. Recommend the Spumoni (imported from NY) or the Chocolate Raspberry (imported from MN). The owner is kind, funny and engages with guests. And he's got a fantastic history in the music biz that he will tell you about if you ask. Check out the autographed piece on the wall behind the counter - great backstory. Bathroom is filled with thank you letters the shop has received from their extensive community involvement and donations. This is a gem.

Best local ice cream shop! Me and my kids have a been there over 7 times, and it never disappoints. My favorite is the Rum Black cherry, it tastes great. This place is the the definition of a family owned restaurant and why we all should support it. My father passed away but before he did he wanted to see his new great granddaughter, eat macaroni and cheese, and drink a chocolate malt. He didn’t get the malt so after the funeral we called I Scream for Ice Cream and asked for 15 malts. Bill the owner asked what they were for and we told him. When my daughter went to pick them up, not only did he make additional one for my dad he threw in a few more. Bill was worried about how we would get them home so he gave us his personal cooler to transport them in. This is the definition of family owned and operated. Bill and Will, thank you so much for your generosity and for making this day a little brighter. My family wants to put a shout out to anyone/everyone to support this business and it’s owners and have a chocolate malt!!

What a hidden gem! Half of the place is a play area for kids and the rest of the place is divided between a line of ice cream flavors and few places to sit. The walls are COVERED in amazing memorabilia from every era and you definitely get that old time vibe. And the ice cream selection is great! My girlfriend looks everywhere for the bride's cake ice cream flavor and they had it! Plus there are plenty of topping options, and the owner is fantastic to chat with. Definitely recommend stopping in!

Absolutely everything all the reviews say. The owner Warren, overheard me say it was my first visit and made it a point to welcome me. I tried the cookie dough, chocolate and mint chocolate chip, all were delicious. The hot fudge topping was the best I’ve ever had, the real deal. Price was perfect for a heaping small cup. I can’t wait until it’s fully open after Covid to really get to enjoy the experience of the eclectic decor and vibe. Would’ve stayed longer but two huge families came in and it got packed! Definitely the place to go in Albuquerque for ice cream. If you’re driving through, it’s right off the freeway- a must stop! Fantastic experience :)

On the last day of our vacation we wanted to take the kids out for a treat. We were staying in Santa Fe, but a quick search of ice cream parlors turned up this whimsical place. We drove the hour to check the place out, and we were not disappointed. The owner was fantastic, and very friendly. My family had such a fantastic and nostalgic experience here! You definitely can't come just once! There's so many things to view, reminisce, and interact with! This place has something for EVERY age, whether you're a one year old or 99 years old. No kidding. The prices are fair for an everyday goer like my family, so I'm definitely coming back. These flavors! They are a whole other experience, I haven't had strawberry cheesecake or cotton candy confetti like that ANYWHERE. I like sweets, but I'm not so heavy on the sugar. This ice cream is the exact right amount of sweetness, it doesn't overpower the focal flavor. I didn't even try the banana split, the floats, or the hot dogs yet, but I'm so excited that they offer it, for next time!

Very cool ice cream parlor. The gentleman behind the counter was really friendly, talkative, and it was obvious he cared about the establishment. The decor and toys for kids were an especially nice touch. Now the ice cream itself was good, but not the best. 2 out of the 4 flavors we had were really great, the other 2 mediocre. I also like a more creamy ice cream which this was not. I'll definitely stop there again if I'm in the area and craving ice cream for another shot.

We went here as a dinner replacement while on vacation. We found it in a guide book under restaurants, and we decided to give it a try. On the outside, it is unremarkable. When we went there, the buildings neighboring it were empty. However, as soon as we walked inside, we realized that this was a unique place. There are collectible toys all throughout the store, and the ceiling has old vinyl records lining it. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the owner. He gave us a quick overview of the menu and how to order. We ordered various types of ice cream and shakes. The prices were pretty good and the ice cream tasted pretty good. We sat down near the window and began to eat. There were many different games and books to look at while eating; however, nobody in our group used them. After we had eaten for a while, the owner came over and sat down next to us. He told us about why he moved to Albuquerque and how long he'd been there for, etc. Overall, it was a great experience, and if I were to come back to Albuquerque anytime soon, I would be sure to stop by.

My parents loved all the nostalgic toys, records, and memorabilia, my daughter loves the toys, and I loved the ice cream! I have known about this place since it first opened at it's first location over by McDonald's and Walmart on Carlisle, they used to bring me ice cream when I was pregnant and are absolutely fabulous people with absolutely fantastic ice cream and a fun and friendly atmosphere. A super old school ice-cream parlor with personality, witty decor, reasonable prices and great ice-cream. They scoop quality product that comes from all around the country (like Michigan and Wisconsin) , because they think some dairies do some flavors better than others. They have waffle cones, sugar cones and all sorts of toppings with a clever dispensing system. 32 flavors! Frozen bananas! Banana splits! Malted! And they run old films on the side of the building on Friday nights in the summer. You can't go wrong here. Best of all, it's appealing to all ages.

Inside seating is available, alongside mountains of toys and games. Have yet to get freezer burned ice cream, which is happens at other ice creameries I frequent. If you dislike children or adults that act like children, this may not be the best place for you to visit.

Super sanitary, the owner is beyond courteous, and the memorabilia collection brings "cozy growing up in America" feeling. I'm lactose intolerant, but that didn't help me and he has alternatives. The owner is one of the coolest people ever. As we pulled up all the lights went off. My wife and I say in the parking lot for a minute deciding what to do next when the owner came out to the car. He said they were closed and apologized and asked if we would come back tomorrow. We let him know we had to leave to go back to Oklahoma City in the morning. He said you know what come on in. As long as you get it to go I'll serve you. He opened his place back up and serve my wife and I some delicious ice cream. They don't make many people like him anymore. I love this shop, BUT the owner kind of had moments when you feel like he was annoyed with my kids. They obeyed the "no ice cream in the toy area" rule, and that makes sense. They were in the middle of playing, and he starts picking up the toys. I will admit that the toys were everywhere, but I had every intention of picking up the mess that my children were making. Then he makes a comment about how my 3 year old took the shoe laces out of the clown shoe, and how hard it is to do that, but "she did it."
