Get together day after T-Giving, needed to get same day as guests were coming at 4:30 (called just before noon). They were quite busy, but checked and would try to get someone out by 4, if at all possible…and they made it! Full disclosure up front: I did not use this company for home maintenance. However, I had a very positive encounter with one of their employees (Devon) when I needed a jump for my vehicle. He dropped what he was doing to help a stranger out and was professional and courteous throughout. I think this speaks to the quality of employees at this company, who obviously put people first, even when it's inconvenient. If I need any maintenance issues resolved, I'll call this company first.

In addition, it was easy to make an early appointment for the work. We have used Thomas E. Clark for years -- new furnace last year, for example -- and have found them capable and consistent. Their prices are not out of line with others in the business, which is not to say cheap. We have no complaints.

I've used other plumbing companies in the past. While I was satisfied with some of their repairs, there were other repairs that were sloppy and just infuriated me. I swore I'd never let them back in my house. My brother recommended Thomas E Clark who he had been using for years. The repairs I needed this time, I was sure would call for expensive replacements. However, the service man was able to repair everything with just a few turns of a wrench on one, some plumbing tape on another, and just a simple unclogging of hair in the drain. They certainly could have taken advantage of me but didn't. That is the sign of an honest company and I will certainly use them again.

Plumbing companies that offer efficiency, fair dispatch fees, and technical competency - especially for old buildings - pretty rare. Thomas E. Clark is now by go to plumber. Forever. The office staff answered immediately and listened, actually listened to my request. Old buildings are not the same as newer construction. Totally different set of skills and experience needed. Their service fee of $99 is applied to the job if you accept their estimate. This is rare. Chris was extraordinarily knowledgeable, neat and very quick.

T. E. Clark is my go-to place for plumbing, heating, and air conditioning. I like to support local businesses and T. E. Clark has never disappointed. They are accommodating of schedule needs, and their technicians are punctual, friendly, and competent. A water leak problem that I suspected was related to the condensate pump on a heating system unit took a bit longer to repair because the heating system crew that first came could not locate it. However, the made arrangements for a plumbing crew to come a couple of hours later. The second crew came and was able to trace (several inspection holes on the ceiling) the leak to a copper line that connects to the condensate pump. The plumbing crew contacted the first crew to explain and made arrangements for them to return and fix it, which they did. I am pleased overall with the resourcefulness of the company and impressed by their ability to respond and adjust. It took a bit longer and, in the end, cost a bit more than I anticipated but I am happy and relieved that the problem is fixed.

We were lucky to have Matt & Bryan service our minisplits today. Wow - they were fantastic and so thorough -- I couldn't believe it! It was our first time using Thomas E Clark and couldn't be more pleased to have switched to new technicians. They noticed a few things out of their purview that needed to be fixed (found a small leak in our boiler), and they flagged right away which was so appreciated as we wouldn't have noticed. We had a leaking internal gas line. Opening up the walls to identify and patch the leak, if possible at all, would have been both very expensive and disruptive. Gene the tech came up with a simpler, cheaper and safer alternative of running a new line externally. The quality of advice, work, and customer service was exceptional. We have been using Thomas Clark Plumbing since we lived in a co-op in DC in the 1980s. They have a deep understanding of older homes in the DC area. Our most recent experience was to have them replace a defective (obsolete) shut-off for the water supply line to our failing refrigerator ice maker. I called them in mid afternoon and had a plumber at my door by 4:00 pm that day. The plumber was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. He replaced the shut-off in less than a half hour and saved me from a flooded kitchen! They're the best!

I called on a Sunday night with an important but not urgent issue (leaking under kitchen sink), was able to leave a message with an answering service, and got a callback that night scheduling a visit for the next day. The plumber arrived on schedule, diagnosed the problem readily, stopped the leak and fixed the situation for the most part that day, and returned on schedule the next day with an additional small part that was required, installing that part quickly. Service was professional, prompt, and while not cheap, seemed reasonable in cost for the work that was done and the good result.

We called Thomas E Clark Inc for a leak that was dripping in the basement. The plumber found a series of holes in pipes around the dishwasher. He did an excellent job cutting around sections of drywall and replacing sections of pipe. Because he was so careful, my husband will be able to do the necessary repair work to the wall and we will not need to call a carpenter! There are a few times in life that I have taken the time to leave a review. I find that most of the time people write reviews when they are dissatisfied. My A/C stopped working last Sunday and I called Thomas E Clark and the owner called me back. within 2 hours he sent Matt over to look at the unit. After attempting some repairs it turned out that the 16 year old unit needed to be replaced. Mike called me Sunday night and was able to get Mike had an estimator out Monday morning and I had a proposal in my email within an hour with several pricing options. We decided on an option and Mike was able to work us into an already jam packed schedule. He sent a crew over that started working on the job at 3pm and did not leave until 11pm. Carlos the technician refused to leave because he knew about the upcoming heat wave and wanted to make sure when he came out on Saturday to finish the job we had cool air by the afternoon. Mike and Carlos were some of the best contractors I have ever worked with. And the pricing was much better then the other 2 quotes including Micheal and Sons.

Recently I had an issue with the heater component of my thru-the-wall HVAC unit. I originally called another local company in Bethesda but had no luck getting the problem resolved despite going back and forth for about a month. With the cold season approaching, I finally decided to use another highly rated company on the area. The first two told me flat that they don't like to work on this type of systems. When I called Thomas E Clark, I was warmly greeted by the person who answered the call before being transferred to a gentleman who logged the issue and set me up with an appointment on the first day that worked for me. On the appointment day, the technician (John Paul) showed up on time to investigate the problem. Once he had a diagnosis, he thoroughly explained the issue and gave me a guesstimate for the cost to repair. In the following week, once the required part was received thru mail, the engineer came over again and fixed the unit quickly and ably. We were totally happy with the level and quality of the service throughout the process and will definitely call on them for any future HVAC need. Thank you Team Thomas E Clark!

Tech was quick to diagnose issue and laid out pros/cons to diagnostic pressure test results given the constraints of the condominium building, the different sections of the HVAC system, and potential findings. Office manager ordered part with vendor who in turn lost the order and delayed the shipment another week in the middle of summer--but, office manager realized this was unacceptable and worked with the vendor to secure a new system replacement for the same price. I was very happy with the service received, and I would highly recommend to others.

We’ve been using Thomas Clark since 2011, first for plumbing when we were in a rental, then for both plumbing and HVAC once we bought a house. This company is very reputable! We just had a repair on our heating system, and a 2nd problem popped up in the element right next to the repaired piece. Instead of trying to figure out whether this was just our bad luck or the repair of the 1st piece caused a problem with the 2nd piece, they just agreed to take care of it. These guys are fast and reliable and they stand by their work!

Great response time and resolution of my issue. On an extremely cold weekend last winter the service technician diagnosed a cracked heat exchanger in my furnace and replaced my furnace the next day. My previous company had misdiagnosed the problem and told me to use my furnace for short periods of time to stay warm. I later learned that had I listened to that company I could have died from carbon monoxide exposure. Thomas E Clark cares about their customers!!!!

Just had my AC serviced. The technician diagnosed the problem very quickly and he was very friendly and helpful. No problems there. However, the problem was a bad capacitor. The technician quoted a price of $199. That seemed extremely high but my house was hot so I agreed to have him replace it. I just googled the part number and the capacitor cost $29 for next day delivery. I understand a company needs to have a mark-up to pay for the cost of carrying the parts on their trucks, but this is excessive and exploitive. So sick of dishonest companies that take advantage of you when you need their help. I guess I will have to google each and every part and fix it myself whenever something like this happens again. I suggest anyone reading this do the same. Anyone can replace an AC capacitor themselves.
