Recently our prior unit failed and was not able to be repaired. We had service contracts with other companies and there was a blend of repairs over the years. We received quotes for full system installation from two companies and while costs were comparable, the customer service was superior with Tidewater Pro Air. They were responsive to all communications and spent time to educate us on the choices we were making. They were honest in their assessment of our current system, what would be needed to get us up and running and what they recommended moving forward. Their professionalism, knowledge, and patience with me during the process was amazing. They really listened to what I wanted and worked with me to make sure the new system fit our family. This review is long over due ! I had my old system taken out and tidewater pro installed a new hvac system and heating system. I was nervous about gas leaks since our previous furnace was so outdated. They reassured me that they would take care of the job and they did awesome work. The heat works great. The seals on our equipment are tight, so I am gas worry free.

With the inciming cold teen tempuratures coming in, I thought it would be in my houses best interest to have maintenance performed on my Furnace (whichbis 20 years old). I had no recoreds from the previous owners of when or if the system ever had maintenance done. They were able to schedule a teach to come out the very next day! Mike arrived before the scheduled appointment time. Mike was very thorough, courteous and was very complete in his explanation of everything that was occurring. He even showed me how to adjust the dampers and labeled them for me. This company is now my go to for any HVAC/Furnace issues and for yearly maintenance. We had our a/c go out and these guys did an amazing job. We decided to do furnace and ac at the same time and they are both amazing. Our house is cooler than before our old ac broke and my wife is happy, so I am as well. We had Josh Mathis as our rep and installation guru and he informed us that both of our old appliances were bigger than needed and went the extra mile in everything he did (and saved us money). They don't oversell and they actually spend their time making sure it's done right the first time. I Highly recommend.

I can not say enough good things about Tidewater Pro Air and Joshua. Our first initial visit was great. He was the first technician that came out to give me an estimate and if I'm being honest, I knew I wanted to go with this company from the time Joshua left. When Joshua arrived for the initial visit, he was very knowledgable. Im a woman and I know how people try to upsell equipment but Joshua did not. He told me about the different HVAC units and gave me advice on what the best option was for my situation. He was super genuine and so down to earth. He let me know how the installation would go and gave me the different options on what I would be paying depending on which unit I chose to go with. After doing my due diligence with getting other estimates, I called Tidewater Pro Air and let them know the day they could come install the new HVAC. On the day of installation, Joshua and his team came on time and took about 4 and a half hours to complete everything. I feel like thats pretty fast when installing a furnace and an A/C unit. They were courteous and did a fantastic job on the install. After it was completed, Joshua showed me everything they did and gave me some pointers on another project that i’ll have to get completed soon. Im so pleased with how everything turned out. 10 out of 10 I would 100% recommend. You honestly are doing your self a disservice not booking with these guys. They are the real deal!

First of all I have been in the ship maintenance industry for over 40 years and though I am not a residential HVAC technician I know the basics and what a quality job is. I was having issues with one of my (2) four year old HVAC systems making noise when the AC shut off and a moldy smell when the gas furnace was operating. I had not had the systems checked since the units were installed (new house). I looked on line and saw positive reviews for Tidewater Pro Air. I let them know of my issues and they suggested the normal maintenance checkups for both HVAC systems. Having had this service done before by other companies at another house their price seemed a little high so I passed for a while. Being a DIY guy I know to check for a few items but everything seemed in order so I set up an appointment ready for the maintenance check and the inevitable up sale. Well the day of the appointment two service techs showed up on time (Plus 1) to service the AC section of my two units and I explained what I had been hearing and smelling. They both listened to my issues and said it didn't make sense but they would look into it (Plus 2). They both performed all the inspections on the units outside and cleaned the coils then they proceeded in the attic to perform the remaining maintenance. A few minutes later they informed me that the units had never been installed correctly (imagine that). They showed me where a piece of the air handler cabinet was flopping around each time the unit came on and the shipping material was still inside the units even though there is a big sticker on the unit telling the installer to remove the material before operation. The shipping material and what looked like an instruction manual were a big moldy mess which they cleaned out. Then they cleaned the coils with a strong cleaner and sealed up the cabinet as it should have been originally. This fixed both my issues and they did an excellent job. It took them almost 3 hours to do the maintenance, they cleaned up everything and repaired the incorrect installation and once all that was done then they checked the units for proper operation. I was expecting them to say my Freon levels were off or my capacitors or relays were bad.... but nope, they did everything they said they would. Fixed my installation issues and didn't charge me any extra for any of it. (Plus 3). In this time where every company seems to want to get into your door for a small price and then up sale you for everything it was a pleasure to have two professional minded technicians that listened to my issues and took the time to look for the issues and resolve them without wanting additional money for something their company didn't do. I can't say enough good things about Tidewater Pro Air. Keep up the good work and see you this fall for the heating service checkup.

LIFESAVERS! I cannot recommend this company enough. Our air conditioning stopped working and we were waiting on our warranty for 10 days without ac. I am pregnant and we have two little kids. We decided to fix it without the warranty and tidewater pro air came to our rescue that same day! Josh was so knowledgeable and professional. We have been a customer since we moved into our home in 2015. The first summer we moved in, our unit went down. It was an old unit and we weren’t in a position to replace it after just closing so recently. For the past 7 years, every single time we had an issue, our amazing technician has come out and fixed our unit to keep our family comfortable. This year, our unit went out for good. After coming out to try to repair it, Josh gave us the news and immediately gave us options to replace our unit, handler and to repair duct work that had become subpar after years of use. Have to give a shout out to Tidewater Pro Air for being so responsive yesterday when our AC went out. We got home from doing some errands to a house that was 80 degrees and climbing. I called and got a quick return call and the tech was out in 15 min or so! He had the parts in the van we needed and got us up in running within the hour. It wasn’t a cheap fix but it never is. It was money well earned by getting to us quick(didn’t have to pay after hours or be without AC this weekend) and they had everything they needed with them! Thanks so much guys!!

Update: 2/18/023 I was having water heater and HVAC trouble. Both systems were original to the house, but the last home owner replaced the compressor with a wrong sized one. There were also multiple installation errors that weren’t up to code. Tide Water Pro Air came out, diagnosed the issues fast and told me quickly what my options were. I had a few questions and they answered them all in person. They provide multiple choices on quotes and then I gave them a call to group all of my preferred options. About two weeks after this they came to do the install. I have worked with a lot of contractors, mainly due to both my current and previously jobs across a couple states. These guys are top tier. Super friendly, nice, and aware they are in your home and do everything to protect it from what they are doing. They put down blankets, vacuumed up heavily, and even asked if they could use the bathroom so they could clean their hands before touching the thermostat. At the end of the job, they walked me through things, answered questions and then were gone after everything was done. Other than finally having a working AC/furnace and water heater, there is no sign this team was in my house. If this is how this company operates, which from my personal experience the few times they have been out, I will use them as long as they are in business. Thank you guys for the excellent work, you have an excellent team. Original: Excellent customer service and response time. Guys squeezed me in the next morning due to having trouble with my AC unit. We contracted several vendors for a new HVAC. Tidewater provided the most comprehensive assessment of what was needed and detailed proposal for the work reflecting the thoroughness of their inspection. Given the tight supply problems, we were amazed that they were able to find the unit that we needed and scheduled the installation promptly. Throughout the process, they kept us advised on the status of the order and schedule for installation. The crew arrived at the agreed upon day and time and accomplished the installation in about half the time I would have estimated it would take. Other than having a brand-new, high-efficiency HVAC, you could hardly tell they were here. The post job clean-up was immaculate. These folks are true professionals. Give them a call it you need a new system or repairs on an older unit.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I am SO glad we went with Tidewater Pro Air, I found them with a simple Google search after our AC stopped working (of course right at the start of a heat wave) when it was 95 outside and inside we were at 81 and rising. When I originally called they told me they didn’t have any appts for a week, so I went on with my search, but a bit later I was called back and told they have a tech that could come to my house within the hour since they finished a previous job early and now were able to fit me in today - that was really so kind that they even called me back! Josh and Dell showed up on time, and throughly explained everything as they were finding the solution. They are very detailed oriented and respectful, they took their time to explain and show me before and afters of what they serviced, and cleaned up after themselves. Less than two hours later, they had not only fixed the issue but preformed proper maintenance to the unit outside and in the attic to make sure we stay cool the rest of the summer. They answered all my questions, and helped me sign up for their yearly membership to have them come out twice a year to keep our house running efficiently no matter what season it is. I really can’t thank Josh and Dell enough for getting us all taken care of today! They are truly hard workers! We look forward to using Tidewater Pro Air for any issues that may arise in the future and for our yearly maintenance!

BLUF: Tidewater Pro Air replaced my HVAC system, and I have ZERO regrets about choosing them for the installation of my new system. Prior to this past summer, I had never heard of Tidewater Pro Air, and I don’t consider learning about them happenstance. I honestly believe that the Lord told me to leave home for lunch on a day that I normally would not have, just so that I could meet Josh M., as he was providing maintenance to my neighbor’s outdoor unit. I knew that I wanted to have my entire system replaced, but I wasn’t sure who I would hire to get the job done. After speaking with him, I got his business card so that I could call to set up an appointment for an estimate. When Josh G. came to my house to give me an estimate for replacing my system, I never felt like he was trying to sell me something for the sake of selling it. Can't recommend this company enough. Josh came out at 4:45pm on a Friday to help us out in an emergency situation to fix our gas boiler so that we could have hot water in our home. Josh was incredibly knowledgeable on gas boilers, which is a rare find b/c these types of systems are not that common. Their after hours fee was very reasonable and Josh was a pleasure to work with. He also provided us with a cost estimate on recommended updates to our system- which he emailed that same night.

Tidewater Pro Air did an excellent job. We called them for a free estimate to replace our 10-year AC unit because it did not keep up with the heat outside. After Josh took a look at it, he confidently said that we did not need to replace it. He asked for our approval to check it, then explained a lot of things. Evidently, we need to replace both out-of-shape capacitors and the external contactor. He tested everything thoroughly and found out the refrigerant was low maybe due to improper installation in the past, because there was no evidence of a leak. The price is very reasonable, and they deliver what the company mission, which is customer satisfaction. We have saved a couple thousand because of the best solution they gave. I FINALLY found a quality HVAC company!! My old unit kept needing service and when it broke down for the sixth time I called Tidewater Pro Air late one afternoon. Joshua and his crew, all very polite and friendly, arrived promptly the next day. Joshua then did a very thorough inspection of the whole unit while answering all of my questions. The unit had a costly freon leak and tired of pouring money into the old unit, because during the appointment Joshua was so professional, knowledgeable and responsive, I asked him for replacement quotes. He seemed very knowledgable and confident in his abilities and quickly got to the bottom of my issues. Fortunately, I didn't have to dish out money for a new furnace. I do think that their parts are a little on the pricier side as they charged me double for the thermostat that I could have gotten on my own but that is pretty standard in home repair and service. The broken thermostat was only 6 weeks old as it was so maybe I just didn't know what I was doing when I replaced it. I understand they've got to make a living. They didn't send a salesman out to meet with us, they sent our their lead installer to meet with us and see what our needs were. I had to have a 1.5 ton unit replaced in my house and Tidewater Pro was one of three companies I got estimates from. While they weren't the cheapest option of the three, they were by far the most competent, timely, and responsive. As Josh conducted the estimate, he explained every bit of the installation process, what unit options I had, and even went so far as to recommend what I should ask the other companies to do to ensure a successful installation. Needless to say, the other two companies and their estimates were nowhere near as thorough or professional. Specifically addressing the price difference between Tidewater Pro and other companies, I'm a firm believer in "you get what you pay for". While I may have saved ~$500 with another company, I have no doubt that any shortcuts they would've taken would've cost me more than that in repairs to the unit down the road, had it been installed correctly the first time. With Josh and Tidewater Pro, I had no such concerns. On the day of the install, everything went extremely well, and Josh talked me through the entire process and answered all of my questions. The thing that truly set them apart was the extra steps they took to properly install the unit, all of the associated components, and other miscellaneous items (e.g. the concrete pad, the metal floor bin, etc.). My previous unit had obviously been installed with shortcuts and it showed in the way that wires, drain lines, etc. were run. Tidewater took the extra steps to make sure everything was installed correctly, and cleanly without making my attic look like a war zone. I have three units in my house, and have had regular maintenance issues with all three units despite bi-annual maintenance inspections with another local HVAC company. After finishing up my installation, Josh (unsolicited) did a quick look at my other units, and pointed out basic issues which were causing my recurring problems that should've been easily caught and fixed by my other HVAC company. For instance, I had a dead bird in one unit, an external access panel hadn't been properly re-installed on another unit, and my other unit didn't have a drain to prevent water from collecting in the base of the unit and rusting it out. All of these simple fixes that were relatively easy and cheap to fix, Josh handled for me without additional charge. After that, I called my other HVAC company who had been providing regular maintenance, and I cancelled my contract with them on the spot. I immediately signed a new maintenance contract with Tidewater Pro, again for the belief that "you get what you pay for". I honestly cannot say enough praise for Josh and Tidewater Pro. They are a professional, competent company with great employees that truly take care of you. Look no further than their reviews on Google to see that my experience isn't an outlier.

I needed to have my air ducts cleaned. Josh came out and during his quote visit listened to my concerns regarding my new Trane system installed by another company. He said he’d take a look at it. Last spring (2018) we had a problem with unit and another largely known company wanted 1800.00 to “check” for leaks then told me if they can’t find the leak I’d need a new unit and quoted me another 7,000. I felt backed up in a corner. We called Josh for a second opinion he was her the next day and found and fixed the problem for about 85.00!! We knew we had to replace the complete unit inside and outside this year So needless to say we called Tidewater Pro. Josh gave us estimates on different units with absolutely NO PRESSURE on which one he felt we should purchase. He simply gave us pros and cons and left it up to us. He told us about warranties extended warranties and different plans they offer but never pressured us to purchase anything extra. My inside unit is in my attic and of course the outside unit. As much as they had to go in and out and up and down I felt no inconvenience at all. When they left it was as if they were not here at all. They cleaned every aspect of being here for 7 hrs. The customer service was great. But I was definitely overcharged. $100 for the service call and $200 for a tune-up. (They didn't even exchange my filter. They just pulled it out and left it.) Then I paid over $200 for refrigerant. Altogether I paid about $525 for everything when they knew, from the start, I only needed refrigerant. He told me the other things were standard for a service call: to clean and tune up first (that's even if they did a tune-up) and then to perform whatever service is needed. I say it's just an extra way to get additional money from the consumer. Just handle whatever the issue is if you already know the problem. When he mentioned the tune up, he said it in a way in which he didn't know that my AC needed refrigerant. Turns out, they did know the problem by utilizing their diagnostic tool, and they justified the additional charges for the tune up by claiming everything else was standard for a service call.

I called tidewater pro air after having a poor job done through my home warranty company, in which they disconnected/bypassed emergency off switches on my AC, then never reconnected after figuring out what was wrong. My AC was also making a banging sound. I called on a Saturday and they came out within a few hours. I don't remember the name of the man who came, but he was very professional and fixed the system within an hour, making my home safe again. From beginning to end the service from Josh, and Phil was nothing short of outstanding. They called ahead of time asking if they could come over early to start. They put down a cloth tarp to cover the carpet and wore shoe protectors. Outside they prepped the area removed fan unit, the nasty pad it was on and put down the New pad. I was in my previous home for 12 years. So I forgot the pain of finding service providers that I could rely on and trust. I am new to Suffolk and new to my home. There are so many unaccountable people in service, particularly in HVAC. Just doing what you say you're going to do is enough to make you stand out. But Tidewater Pro Air became stars in our home. My only regret is that I didn't find them sooner. They did what they said they would do, making them stand out, but what made them stars is everyone I've been in contact with seems like they actually care about my family's comfort. Before any money was exchanged, Joshua Gray did things outside of the normal scope of a comfort specialist visit. I'd rather not mention specifics because I don't want readers to expect that as their baseline. We had a serious humidity problem as a result of bad advice and a series of companies and people who didn't care. Josh presented several options including repair and replacement of our two units. He set detailed expectations on both paths. I didn't want to spend the money on replacement, but I invested my entire first summer at this house on AC appointments. I did not want that to happen again the following summer, so I opted for replacement over another repair. I was nervous because other firms had been pushing a crazy expensive option as if it were the only one to solve our problem--and we had two units to replace. We had just bought the home. We didn't need that expense. We were trying to lean on the home warranty, but it was sucking up my time and peace of mind, and I wanted to put HVAC problems "in my rear view mirror." Josh mentioned there were some units out there that cost about $15k each, and even he said that was crazy and not necessary to solve our problem. When he got back to his office, he drew up several options. I felt good when he said each option would solve our problem. One included the crazy high option for comparison. We didn't go with that one, but each one was new, more efficient and better than what we had before, and guaranteed. What I actually ordered was out of stock for a few days, so I got an "upgrade" if you will, which was in stock. It was the same unit with a different cap and different labeling. The cap helps to keep leaves from getting into the outdoor unit. It also looks better. There was a mishap during installation. A crew member stepped through the ceiling. But Tidewater Pro took responsibility and addressed it fully. I didn't have to chase them like I am having to do with others who have damaged the house. In fact, I didn't have to pay until it was fully addressed. But I did. They are running a business, not a charity. I felt a gentleman's obligation to do so. Again, this is where accountability, care, and respect come into play. I take it for granted, because it's what I do for customers in my business. It's what I expect, so it's really noticeable when it's missing. It has not been missing in my experience with Tidewater Pro. As as Suffolk resident, I am glad they are headquartered in Suffolk because they're less likely to complain about coming to my house. I am glad to know they do plumbing and electrical, too. I highly recommend them for anyone in the Hampton Roads area. And should my own HOA be looking for names to add to their list of providers to include in the welcome packet for new residents, I would have no trouble suggesting their name. They are young as a company but seasoned with talent in their craft and in customer service. I wish them the best and I look forward to them coming back for checkups to keep our systems in ship-shape. Update June 28, 2019: Very accountable. Taking good care of the systems they installed last fall. The heat worked great over the winter and the AC is a wonderful escape from the high humidity of our area. Glad to have the heavy lifting of HVAC problems behind us because of Tidewater Pro Air.

It is peace of mind that Tidewater Pro Air provided us the time our AC unit stopped working. Sure there’s a way to DIY most things, but an HVAC system is not something to toy around with. As it turns out, there was a little more damage than we thought we could have handled on our own. The Tidewater Pro tech did not pressure me into purchasing anything that isn’t needed at the time. Tidewater Pro Air is an awesome company to work with. I initially called Pro Air out to look at what I believed was failing emergency heat strips in my heat pump system. They verified the finding as well as going a few steps further in cleaning the outer and inner coils which led to them discovering that the return duct has come off and the unit was just sucking in air from under the house and pushing that air inside. Between the existing unit failing and being the wrong size for the house I decided to replace the entire system with a ductless mini split system. This has been one of the best decisions I have ever made in regards to house related purchases. They removed the old system and all the duct work and after doing load calculations installed a new 6 head system that put a unit in each of the major room of my house. The new system is whisper quiet, draws a fraction of the power of the old system and allows for each room to be set to its own individual temperature, or turned off all together. The quality of the craftsmanship and the communication during installation was superb. The team was very informative of the steps they were taking and sought my input on the placement of the indoor units to minimize the visual impact. This is the first time since owning the house I have felt anything other than tepid air out of my vents during the winter and my winter heating bill dropped $100. I was in the market for replacement of my HVAC system, so I started by getting a few different estimates from local HVAC companies. Tidewater Pro Air is different than everyone else, the person who comes to do your estimate is the same person who will be installing and servicing your system. There's not "salespeople" or "operations managers" or "estimators" with this small business and because of this the quality of business is really personalized to the customer. Because of this I made the choice to hire Tidewater Pro Air to replace my HVAC system. Tidewater Pro Air is an authorized "Trane" dealer, the Trane equipment has a reputation for being very high quality equipment. What you should know is if you buy a lower entry level brand or a high end brand is that what it really boils down to is the quality of the installation and if the installers are following the manufacturer's recommendations and guidelines for a proper long lasting installation then you shouldn't have to worry much about anything. After working with Tidewater Pro Air it is evident that the employees are knowledgeable in proper installation techniques and have attended training from the manufacturers of the systems they install. Every employee that I interacted with was very professional and eager to please or satisfy my curiosity in what or why they were doing every step of the way. I honestly am surprised that a HVAC company to this caliber exists because there are alot of shady operations out there. I highly recommend this company!

The current system was struggling but running with high bills, high temps, humidity, noisy, lights blinking, etc, etc. I recently retired after 50 years of Engineering Design and Management and our ‘new to us’ house had to have a long term quality fix. Tidewater put in all new units upstairs and down, gas and electric Tranes. They also fixed ductwork flow and balance problems. The team was 6 to 7 very nice and hard working young men for two days. They are like a championship well-oiled machine with lots of attention to small details and cleanliness. They’re like family. The inside temps, 50% humidity and whisper quietness are now amazing. It seems like the units barely have to run. The outdoor equipment is picture perfect beautiful. The Nexia WiFi thermostats are cool and fun.
