Best company for gas furnace service. Went above and beyond to help me out when another company shut off my gas furnace but wouldn't explain what was wrong...just insisted that I needed to buy a new furnace. Guess I seem like an easy mark for a high pressure sale? Kurt came through with a complimentary safety check. Corey showed up right on time, did a thorough diagnostic, tested carbon monoxide levels in every room of my home, and made sure I got a thorough run down of working status on all parts. I was very relieved to have heat again in November when it started getting really cold out. Also, as I was trying to get multiple second opinions and quotes for a new furnace, two other companies referred me to Bull Mountain heating for anything related to a gas furnace. Recommended by other professionals.

I got a quick appointment and repair to inspect our tankless HW unit. Upon arrival, We took a few moments to outline the concerns and he jumped right on the job. He was very kind and helpful and sharing. He gathered my target of what I needed done, what was going on with unit. He pointed items that I needed to check on later on. Our hot water facuet were running at 75% and we got that fixed. He was very through, checking, and fixing everything. I would recommend this company and I will call him for yearly calls.

This morning I woke up to a cold house. My furnace did not turn on as schedule. I tried to fix it but couldn’t. Then it started and again it stopped. Finally I called Bullmountain and they could get someone out of look at my furnace later today. A technician arrived and had my furnace fixed in about 30 minutes and my house is warm again. Korey was great, he diagnosed the problem, even though the furnace was not sending any error messages. A skillful diagnosis. He was also very knowledgeable about heating systems, air conditioning and thermostats, and was able to advise me on those issues as well. My furnace is 24 years old, but he did not try to sell me a new one, as others have done, because he knows how long a Trane furnace lasts.

Bull mountain has proven themselves to be the best! Our furnace was acting up at our lake Oswego rental - the tenants were cold and grumpy. I made the mistake of calling another Hvac company first - they seriously had no clue of what to do - they named several problems and told me we needed a main fan replacement and a house rewire. We knew this guy was clueless so my neighbor told me to call bull mountain - Bull Mountain dispatched a tech the next morning (amazing) - he was a master tech - he quickly diagnosed the problem - the furnace was producing too much heat and needed to be set to a lower flow - he did this and PROBLEM SOLVED . He also solved the problem of our house being too hot then too cold - he dialed the furnace in to match our house BRILLIANT. He also fixed an incorrect wiring connection from the thermostat. He also suggested we use a thinner air filter and to throw our nest thermostat in the garbage can - I trust him so DONE. Bull mountain reacted quicker , was 10x smarter and seemed to actually care about getting the furnace dialed in for the old couple living in our rental. Bull Mountain fixed 5 problems in one hour and left our house in way better condition! I will always use bull mountain for every Hvac need - today proved that they are truly the best .

Outstanding work on a very high-end residential install. I am a principal engineer. My interview process was extensive and I know enough about this field to differentiate the great from the good and bad contractors. I specified a lot of high-end and some special-order parts (coated coils) that most contractors are not using on residential jobs and Bull Mountain installed them with skill and pride. While I have top-of-the-line parts, I firmly believe the installation quality is 90% of the job. Without getting into too much detail: I have very high standards of work and Bull Mountain exceeded my expectations. My standards of work apply to the ducting hanging and installation techniques, duct mastic sealing techniques, gas line installation and routing, duct insulation install and tape, the lineset install, the condensate lineset, slope, and temp. management, the wiring, the venting, control systems install and positioning, register engineering and install technique, equipment support and equipment maintenance capability. I worked with Brian on the engineering of the manual-D and manual-J - his software (Elite) is as good as the best available packages that I have used (cool-calc, etc). Many contractors will run away from a job like this, Brian and team embraced it…I’m quite confident that Bull Mountain is the top HVAC contractor in the Portland/PDX area based on my extensive research and interview process. Companies like Bull Mountain deserve to be commended for the pride they take in their work and the quality of the end result. Bottom line: if you want the best, hire Bull Mountain. It is critically important that you have your system properly engineered with manual-D/J/S and receive an AHRI cert. The job - Remove all flex ductwork in a high-end home. All ductwork was in an attic. - Replace all ductwork with 26ga round metal ducting with Reflectix “big bubble” insulation. Mastic seal all ductwork. - Engineer the system with a manual-J and Manual-S - Engineer the ductwork with a manual-D; 900fps target. - Add IQAir MERV16 filtration - Add Zoning for 3 zones - Add condensate drains to internal dirty water drains - Add stainless steel pan - Add Testo 510 static pressure monitoring around the return filter - Lots of custom plenum work for the zoning, IQAir, etc. - Hundreds of feet of new ductwork. - Installed heat tape for the condensate lines - Installed new lineset - Installed new venting to cement roof (worked with sub-contractor to install it through roof) - Installed 3 wired touch-screen control units inside the home, and 3 wireless units to average temps. - Installed all new registers Equipment: - American Standard Platinum S9V2 100k BTU, 5 ton - American Standard Platinum XV19 low-profile heat-pump WITH COATED COILS (special order) - 3 zone configuration - static in both discharge+return, temp is discharge and return - Adding air connections for Testo 510 static monitoring - IQ Air Perfect 16 - All new ducting - all 26ga round, trunk design, mastic every joint, pano everything, etc. - 3-5' flex used to minimize noise at boot connections - ~200' of ducting - Metal duct hangers - Ducting insulation - "big bubble" reflectix w/spacers for R-8 (I hate fiberglass), taped with foil tape - Used lots of Gripple 02s instead, which is a component used in commercial installations. - Stainless steel custom pan with separate condensate run - Custom plenums to IQAir, return, supply for each of the 3 zones, various connections - Clearvue P-trap - Airmfg complete system - Surge protected condenser shutoff switch - Insulated (both liquid/suction), single-run lineset - All new shoemaker registers - 600s for returns, 903s, 945s - 1050 control, 2x 1040s (new), zone controller, relay controller - Concentric vent - Gas shutoff - EQ flex for gas - overflow for condensate People - Brian - GM - the technical guy - Kurt - Foreman - he was the lead on the job. - Jack - the father - amazing guy. This is an excellent company! Another major heating and air conditioner company came to fix an older air conditioner that was making a lot of noise. After running their diagnostics, I was told I would need a whole new air conditioner and furnace alterations to the tune of over $8,000 because parts were not available any more. Liars! Eddie a great professional, competent, honest technician confirmed my suspicions: All that was needed was replacement of the fan motor!! Its working just fine now, thank you very much! We discovered that our cold air return main was separated from the main boot and it was pulling insulation and dust from the attic into our vent system. I called Bull Mtn. in the afternoon and got an appointment the following morning at 10 am. Eddie, the tech from Bull Mountain, repaired the connection in 30 minutes and did a first class job! I woke up Saturday morning to a non-functioning furnace. I have a Maintenance Service contract with Bull Mountain so I called them. Within 30 minutes I received a call back setting a reasonable window of time for a technician to come out. Wendel was here very close to the front end of the window. The team that came out on the day of installation was awesome. They showed up as scheduled and were very friendly and easy to work with. While talking with the team we leaned that one of them was the company founder working shoulder to shoulder with the rest of the team. They worked efficiently and were informative and helpful throughout the installation process. They had to run some lines under the house and were nice enough to inform us of what it looked like down there so we could take care of any issues like loose insulation etc. When they were done they left the area cleaner than when they came in and one of the guys stayed behind to explain what they did and how everything worked and answer any questions we had. We are very happy for the work they did just in time for the hot summer weather and the cooling system works like a charm. It’s super-efficient and much quieter than our neighbors. We actually hear their system running while ours quietly hums bringing cool air indoors. Their prices are very competitive and our unit (Trane’s slim model X16) which is nice because we can still pass with the lawnmower by the side of the house, it takes up much less space and is actually more efficient and quieter and with the awesome rebates we got it installed for a little less then what the other guys would have done for the bigger bulkier unit. If you are thinking about HVAC work in our area these people are your people. They do great work at a fair price.

I am so grateful to have found Bull Mountain Heating & Cooling!! On Friday I hit the air button and nothing happened. I called the company who had checked our system on June 15th of this year. That company came out on Monday, charged me $184 to tell me that it was the board but they didn’t have any boards in house and it would be a week or two for them to get it. We have an elder dog, a new puppy and its 90+ temps. After I panicked I looked up AC service in my area and Bull Mountain Heating & Cooling popped up with great reviews. I called and Alex had me text photos of the unit and got me on the schedule a day and a half later! ❤️ Amazing news!!! cost for diagnostic was $99 that’s half of what the prior company who we already had a relationship charged me! Eddie arrived and ran the diagnostics, found the issue and fixed it within an hour and a half!! Our house is finally cool again and Bull Mountain Heating & Cooling now have clients for life.

So glad Bull Mt. is so incredibly responsive when/if our gas hot water heater or Lennox furnace needs repair. We had them install a Lennox high efficiency gas furnace and gas on-demand Navien hot water heater 10 + years ago. These two systems have brought such lasting comfort to our older home. The support service from Bull Mt. is consistently outstanding, always professional, reliable and the client gets excellent service. I like having the company that designed & installed the systems contracted to do the ongoing maintenance over time. We NEVER have to guess who to contact if it's home heating-related. We purchased a new house about 9 month ago. We didn't know it but the heat pump was struggling. 2 Weeks ago it finally stopped working. We had another HVAC company diagnose the issue, and determined the compressor was dying. At this point, we put out bids for repair or replace. However Brian of Bull Mountain, said Trane heat pumps should not stop working this early. Brain was able to get Trane to replace the heat pump and I only needed to pay labor and extra parts. Four stars because there was a wait (not a problem) and the price seemed a little high, although it wasn't an emergency, so that may have had an impact. I needed a new thermostat. The old one wasn't shutting off the air conditioner when it reached the programmed temperature. Installation of a touch screen basic thermostat, a Honeywell T4, was $149, plus an additional $100 diagnostic fee. The total was $249. Eddie did a great job showing me how to work it.

At 10% it fails. We told them to fix it and they did. I know my way around heating and air conditioning systems better than most and in fact installed my own Navien tankless combi-unit last year after consulting with them for a quote. When you know more about HVAC than most homeowners and are capable of installing mid-range systems, a professional shop will usually come across as overpriced, rude, and/or uncompetitive. Bull Mountain Heating AC & Insulation replaced our entire duct system and fixed the very uneven heating within our house. When our bedrooms were 70 degrees, the family room was ~60 degrees (unless we used a space heater), and the finished basement was ~50 degrees. We had a few different companies come out to our house, each of which recommended a different solution. The other companies weren’t sure what was causing the issue. They recommended band aid fixes that “might” help. Bull Mountain took measurements, did some calculations, and determined the cause of the problem. For a little more than the cost of the “band aid” fixes, they proposed a solution to fix the problem. It required replacing the entire duct system, replacing vents, and added a return register. In addition, the area in our house they had to work within was very tight and challenging. After 2 full days of working in very small crawl space and attic we tested out the new system. The new duct system heated better than we hoped. They were professional, clean up afterwards, and followed-up to make sure everything was working well. I will recommend them to anyone who asks and would hire them again.

I was very impressed with Bull Mt. Salesman Kurt gave us three great options and explained exactly what we would be getting. The installation crew was efficient and friendly. We did find a few scraps on the ground near the installation so perhaps a bit more attention to clean up, especially at a house where there are kids who could get hurt but scrap metal. We also had to have a tech come back out to modify the Ecobee controls as the furnace was not set properly. A more thorough walk thru of the actual system controls would have helped as the instruction booklet is a joke for the Ecobee. But I LOVE the Ecobee now that I know how to use it. Laura at the office is super nice and communication was excellent throughout the whole process. Overall I recommend Bull Mt and am so happy with our new furnace and A/C.
