Our entire experience with Able was great. Scheduling an initial estimate was a quick process - Louis came right when he said he would, and was friendly and easy to deal with. Super nice to our dogs, too :-) Once we scheduled the actual service, the process was easy and timeline was exactly as they said it would be. Louis scheduled a follow-up visit several weeks later to make sure we were happy with the service, and again, was easy to talk to, and answered all our questions. After they knew we were happy with the service and functionality, they took our payment - this was several weeks after the installation. We really enjoyed working with them and have recommended them to others, though I understand that supply chain issues are causing delays at this point. So thankful that we got our AC installed before Summer began!

After 23 years my heat/ AC unit had to be replaced. Able was recommended to me and I was very pleased. Lewis came out and laid out my options in a straightforward and understandable way. Because my unit had died Able was great about scheduling my installation before the weather turned cold. The installation crew was professional and efficient. So my Furnaces went down recently. I found out able was one of the original installer of my current house before I moved in. Gave them a call and Tony, the rep, come pretty quick with all the information need after the inspection. We finalized the deal and they got everything professionally installed with decent price. We did get into some small incidents, but they shorted it out really quick. No complain at all, I would recommend their service :)

Fantastic service, responsiveness, and expertise with my ductless unit. I called late on a Tuesday and Nick was over at 8:30am on Wednesday. He quickly diagnosed why there was water leaking from the unit and also found another issue that might arise down the road and fixed it as well. I had received a quote from another company before calling Able and thought it sounded a bit extravagant given how new the unit was and with the water leak being so minimal. I couldn't recommend Able high enough, call them if you have an issue and you'll be very happy.

I called because I had the furnace wasn’t working. They gave me an arrival window the next day between 10 AM and noon. The technician, Scott, notified me that he was on his way 30 minutes before his arrival. Promptly at 10 AM, he got started looking at the furnace. He checked all of the components and let me know that the capacitor was working but should be replaced soon in order to prevent damage to the motor. After he looked at the furnace, he looked at the thermostat and found that it was very old. He recommended replacing the thermostat eventually. He didn’t try to sell me anything and told me that it would be much cheaper to buy a thermostat on my own then to have him install one. The problem ended up being a dead battery in thermostat. I was charged for half an hour of labor and the trip charge. I was very happy to pay for peace of mind and the honesty and competency of Scott.

Our A/C went out on the hottest day of the year (115 degrees). I called several heating & cooling service companies that very next morning, including our regular one. They didn't return my call for days. Others were not taking any new customers, others were scheduled out to August and still others would only send someone out to charge for a diagnostic call then book a separate repair call. Able was able to schedule an actual repair technician in less than 2 weeks. I talked to Ian a few times who was always professional. Called Able Heating & cooling due to AC not cooling the house. Three days later the Technician, Scott, arrived to test and recharge the AC unit. Scott was amazing, a true professional, and knows Heating & Air Conditioning like the back of his hand. Not only did he repaired the AC but also shared tips about the best filter type for cooling and how to install to utilize the whole filter area. I received proposals from five companies for installation of a 36,000 BTU system. Able (and Kelly) had the best solution, and surprisingly, the lowest price. A no-brainer. The installation team was first rate, very clean, and efficient. My experience in Portland and at the Oregon coast is multiple bids are important as the companies come up with varying solutions and wide price ranges. In both my cases, the best technical solution also was the cheapest.

*UPDATED REVIEW* Our initial experience a couple years back was great, and when our furnace recently went wonky we had them out again. They discovered a couple issues that really necessitated a new furnace… but that felt like a last resort decision. They really walked us through all the things it could be and tried fixing those. We felt good about getting a new furnace (even with it being a large purchase) and they AGAIN really took care of us while seconding on new equipment. It’s hard to find a business that feels like they’re not trying to upsell you at every turn, but Able is really customer focused. We cannot say enough great things about the whole team! Original: We had Able come out and service our furnace/AC - Scott was great! Super knowledgeable, and willing to explain what he was doing and why. We had another company out a couple years back and felt very much like they were trying to up-sell us on several expensive services, even mentioning replacing our units... though we are the new owners, our house is 15 years old and the previous owners had regular maintenance. We will happily use them for future maintenance and repairs, and will likely have them back when it’s time to replace/upgrade our system.

So these guys are amazing. I called a few places and everyone was booked out a month plus. I have 2 AC units that weren’t working with some high 80s to low 90s days coming up. Fabulous install however the tech that did our first maintenance on the new system roughed up the furnace leaving scratches on certain parts and left the furnace making noises that it wasn’t making before, leaving me worried about my equipment. My AC unit stopped working in April 2021 on a house that was built in 2019. I called the company that did the initial install as I figured they would know the most about it or possibly have it covered under warranty. It was a $150 fee to have them come out to diagnose the problem which seems standard so I had them come out to take a look at it. However, they found that it was low on refrigerant and the technician didn't have the equipment to find out where the leak was so it was an additional appointment to find the leak and repair it. Their follow up estimate to me was $2000. I chose to get a second opinion from Able and they said the same service was $1100 including a $100 fee to diagnose the problem which was them actually figuring out where the leak was. They found the leak instantly, repaired it, flushed the line, and refilled it with new refrigerant. Their final bill to me was $600 instead of the $1100 they originally quoted me. I was extremely happy to see a company come in at 50% of their original quote and the technician, Corey, was very professional so I would highly recommend Able to anyone that has repair issues as they won't rip you off like the original install company tried to do to me.

WOW! Best experience ever... especially since we were faced with a dead furnace in December and the Snowpocolypse was imminent. I had scheduled Able Heating and Cooling to do a routine (well, sort of routine as I hadn't had the furnace checked in six or so years) check and maintenance of my 23 year old furnace. It was not good news. The heat exchanger was cracked. We had a new furnace, and lots of education about furnaces, coils, AC and heat pumps, within a week. When Kelly, the owner of the company, sat down with us to give us options, and there are lots of options, he was patient and willing to meet our needs based on our budget (because we hadn't really budgeted for our furnace to die a week before Christmas). Our brand new furnace stopped working properly about a week later... it was late in the afternoon and the snow was coming down. We called at 5 and within an hour we had somebody here working on the issue. It worked great for two hours, and crashed again. We called at 8:30 pm and within an hour Kelly himself was here. It was the I can't tell you what thingy and he had a replacement for it in his truck. He figured it out by listening to the furnace. It has been working perfectly ever since. Trust this company. The fan would run and run, and maybe, after an hour to an hour and a half, the furnace would light and we would start getting heat. We purchased a 1950s home in Hillsboro this January and the only source of heat were small cadet electric heaters. We stated looking for a HVAC contractor to do a gas conversion and got 4-5 bids from various companies who sold different brands. Most of the people who came out to give us bids were very salesman like and talked up their particular brand and why it was the best. Greg from Able Heating was the complete opposite. Their quote was not the cheapest but it wasn't far off and I already knew I wanted Trane equipment so it was an easy choice. They did all the paper work for NW Natural to come set my meter. All the paper work for various discounts and rebates to help lower my costs. They even did all the paper work for my warranty with Trane. The crew was very friendly and easy to work with while I was in and out all week. They told me exactly what they would be doing each day and when they would be done. Cleaned up very well before they left each afternoon. From the time they were finished with the install to the time our meter was finally in and turned on was about 3 weeks. Able changed me absolutely nothing until the system was up and running and we had used it for 2 weeks to make sure we were totally happy with it. I have never had such good customer service from a company of any kind. The city inspector came out for the final inspection and said that the system was installed beautifully and that we should be very happy with it. If you are looking for someone to do a gas conversion for you I would 100% recommend you give Greg and Able Heating and Cooling a call.

I was in need of a complete replacement of our 30 year old Trane Heat Pump system. I called and made an appointment with Kelly, the owner, for the next day. I was going to let this go, since it happened last year, but I'm paying the price for it now. April 2017, I scheduled an AC tune up with Able heating and cooling to check my AC and deal with a power surging issue. As the tech was working on my AC unit, a power surge occurred that took out half of my house. I called the power company and they hooked up a 3 phase monitoring device and power supply to my house. Over a 2 week period, the power was fine. Since then, no power surge issues and 120V on each main line. I don't blame Able for that, and it is still a mystery what caused this. However, they said my AC unit was good after they replaced a couple of parts, and that was it. So they fixed the power problem on the unit, which is why I will give them 3 stars, but they did no basic maintenance whatsoever on the AC unit, which is not a "tune up" like I requested. Perhaps he meant that the power was good now and didn't check the unit? Miscommunication? The compressor is so dirty that my entire system has shut down. I blame myself a little for not noticing that, but I believed that it was ok when they said it was ok. What I have now is definitely not a years worth of buildup, which means it was never cleaned, and I have pictures to prove it. Also, they accidentally left the disconnect out in the rain. When I called them the next day, they asked if I would put it back myself, so I did. I figured they were going to come back and finish the "tune up" part of the job after the power issue was resolved, but they didn't. Therefore I figured that everything must have been good then, and I was wrong. A lesson to anyone else out there hiring out HVAC maintenance: Always check their work after the fact and learn enough about the unit to know that they did a complete job. As for Able, I cannot trust that they will do a complete job after seeing how messed up my AC is, and that I will now have to shell out at least $500 to get it working again.
