There were issues with install from manufacturer equipment. They always took care of it the right way and were honest. The system is working fantastic and we are extremely happy. They were able to install a one-of-a-kind system for us, following our Manual J and our complex duct design. Installation was superb, all ducts were sealed perfectly to prevent air leakage. Ronald my technician is always so professional and knowledgeable! Gives lots of options and good advice .. Unfortunately I can’t say the same for the answering service this last time I was hung up on multiple times and told I was going to get a call back the same day then didn’t get a call until 4 days later, I set up my appt then was called again later that evening telling me they need to schedule which wasn’t going to work since I already changed my day around , I was put on hold hung up on again ! I was personally contacted both by phone and email 24 hours in advance of the service call. We were scheduled to be home from upstate in time for the call between 12-5 pm. The representative offered to move our call to the later part of the day so we didn't need to be under pressure to arrive home by 12 noon. I didn't ask for the modification, it was offered and much appreciated. The technician, Joshua, called me about 1/2 hour before he arrived, I also received an email with his picture. He arrived on time, diagnosed the issue, explained the problem & cost and completed the repair. He was very professional, even covered the bottoms of his shoes before entering our home. This was our first time using T.F. O'Brien and at this time we are cool, comfortable and very satisfied with the service. Thank you

I recently had my AC systems serviced by TF OBrien. For years, I used another company and for the most, I was satisfied. That was before I had something to compare it to. From the moment the technician, Josh, rang the doorbell, I knew that calling TF O’Brien was a smart decision. Josh was friendly and asked questions about the AC system in my home. He listened attentively and at no time did he required me to repeat myself. Josh explained everything before starting and kept me informed of needed repairs and estimates of costs throughout the day. It turned out there were several issues. Josh provided me with options and explained the best course of action, demonstrating his knowledge of AC systems. Josh respected my home, wearing protective footwear and a mask. Before presenting me with the bill, Josh carefully reviewed everything he completed and the need for a follow-up visit. We were pleasantly surprised when one of the owners Chris came himself to evaluate our issues and guiding us on what system we should replace it with. TF O’Brien is amazing to work with because their service is professional, friendly, and seamless from start to finish. We wanted a second zone installed in our attic, which we knew would be a costly and invasive job. Brendan Sihler (who handles sales and is overall awesome) was on time for our consult, thorough, and patient in answering all our questions and concerns from pricing options and understanding how the system would work to transparent questions about how messy the job would be. He was also great about correspondence for further questions and helped us find a pricing package that matched our needs with our budget. When Andre and his team came to do the work, they were on time every day, very friendly, tolerant of our very barky dog (ha), and extremely clean and conscientious considering how invasive the job was. I had proactively covered all of our upstairs bedroom furniture with plastic sheeting so as not to get dust and plaster all over them, but the guys still did an extra layer, covering everything from the doorway to the stairs and cleaned up at the end of each day. We’ve had other contractors in our home to do other jobs, and no one else was as neat as they were. It really was such a great help not having to do major clean up at the end of each day and they even finished ahead of schedule. The work itself was neat and seamless as if the system and all the vents and the return had always been there. We are very pleased and are glad we chose to work with them. Would recommend them to everyone hands down.

From the start to the end it was great & pleasant experience. Chris came down to our place and carefully listened to our needs & answered all our questions. Service co-ordinator (Marie) was very helpful to schedule and pre-ups with constant follow-ups and timely responses. On the day of installation, the team walked us through the installation steps and plan related to placements of the units. They were so patient to listen to our questions, answered them and also executed the installation in a very professional manner with very minimal impact on the property. During the work they were thoughtful of our property & our privacy. They cleaned up nicely after work. After the installation, the support engg walked us through usage and maintenance steps & again asnwered all our questions. Even though our implementation needed 3 days, they were able to complete in 2 days. The Inspector from county complemented that it was executed perfectly & safely (both electrical work and unit installation). I am glad that we have choosen T.F. I hired TF O’Brien for an oil to gas conversion a few months ago and it was a stress free process. Chris came to my home and explained what would be involved in the conversion and a timeline. I was very happy to hear there was little legwork on my end and they took care of everything with the town and National Grid. Once national grid did there part, the O’Brien team called me to set up an installation date and everything went very smoothly. It took 2 1/2 days for completion and they left everything clean as before. Jerson and Josh were very helpful in keeping me updated during the installation process as well as how to use the burner and hot water heater. 100% would recommend and use again!

I had a very good experience dealing with Casey at the office even though very busy this morning he was able to get a tech to my house to diagnose a problem with my mini split system,which was great because it was cold outside and the heat was not working. Nick the tech called and said he was about a half an hour away and was punctual to the estimated time of arrival,as well as being very informative. Great first time experience with this company. Tech was awesome as well, got some heat. Great job guys would recommend this outfit so far from this experience. Let's see how the estimate goes and follow up visit for more work to be done, so far so good! We'll be in touch with further information after the issues I have are resolved.

To our suprprise the company utilized sub-contractors, not employees directly involved with contracted company. Except for one individual, the installers seemed not to speak english-though for the most part they seemed to basically understand what they were doing. The sub contractors were not very familiar with the brand of system they were installing and were on the phone repeatedly with a third party to clarify aspects of the installation. That said, the installation of two heating/AC units was completed competently and has worked satisfactorly for the past three months. The sub-contractor installers rushed to complete by the end of the second day- and tools and clutter were left in the attic space which required a telephone call and a follow up service call to satisfactorily restore.

What a fabulous experience. The phone receptionist was so friendly and helpful. She even orchestrated an appointment sooner than we originally expected. Ronald T. was absolutely the best. He diagnosed the problem right away (a relay in an electrical box of our central A/C system), had the replacement part in the truck, and finished his work quickly and efficiently. T.F. O'BRIEN installed my boiler 5 years ago and has been servicing it since. On New Year's Eve my boiler stopped working, technician (Dan) was at my house on New Year's Day to figure out the problem. Dan was patient, thorough and explained exactly what was happening,recommended that I get the chimney cleaned since the safety feature on the boiler shut off the system as a precaution. I was able to get the chimney cleaned the next day and Dan returned to fire up my boiler. He made certain the thermostat was wired correctly and flushed the system and got the boiler working again! AWESOME JOB DAN, VERY PROFESSIONAL AND FRIENDLY. My Toddler and I can't thank you enough!!! Will definitely continue to use services from T.F. O'Brien.

Posted April 2020. We had a great experience with installation and the company was communicative. Even customer service has been great, but we are now almost 1.5 years into our warranty and finding issue after issue but getting push back to get these looked at and remediated. Approximately 5 months after installation, we had Freon issues. It was noted there might be a leak and we should see how it was in the next few months. During the winter maintenance, the technician also noted a potential leak and that we should get it looked at in the spring. Come spring for our maintenance and the technician noted no real issues but told us to schedule a leak check during the off peak. Two weeks to the day after that maintenance, one of our machines back up and spills water into our room at 12am. We open up the machine and it is filled with water, and no water is leaving the unit. A technician comes and tries to fix the issue, and it looks like there might’ve been an issue with the pipes during installation. I ask him to note all of these issues down and to have someone call me. This was Saturday. By Thursday I get no call back, and we are also noticing the unit staying moist even hours after we have shut the unit off - now we will have to deal with potential mold issues. I call customer service AGAIN and I get a “I will discuss with my supervisors and get back to you”. Seems like any kind of potential large job they keep pushing back on, until you are out of warranty, and then charge you for it? This is what it’s starting to feel like. Very displeased with the service after spending 17K on this system. Update September 2020. It was a frustrating experience, but TF OBrien finally came out and did a full system check and revealed an issue with the main condenser, which had to be put in for warranty with the manufacturer. All in all, we were able to get a new unit and fully installed within a week or so. The guys that came to do the condenser switch were GREAT. Wish we had them at the initial install. They are a third party that usually do these “tougher” jobs, as he described to me. He fixed some initial install issues we had and even commented that he would’ve done X Y Z instead of how our system was installed. I am updating my review to 3.5 stars due to the initial frustrating experiences and subsequent urgency to fix my issues after they saw my review. Pleased with initial install and communication but frustrating experience afterwards, but hopefully that is a one-off and not the norm for others.

Installation crew were the most professional you can ever get. *New* Used TF OBrien again in January 2018 and was so happy with their help through a very difficult time as my heating system was damaged by zero degree weather. Even though I had to wait for part from the manufacturer, TF O'Brien spent the time and were able to have the manufacturer honor the warranty. (despite the fact that TF O'Brien did not install this unit that is only three years old). They saved me money and it is much appreciated. Don who works in the office (never met) was excellent in communicating with me as far as where I was at getting my parts expedited. (not something he had to do!) TF O'Brien offered me space heaters if I wanted as I had to wait a few days with no heat in very very cold conditions. The best of the best. Had chance to work with Chris this month (January 2019) and found him to be very professional and polite. He was able to resolve my issue.

My wife and I felt safe. Working within a tight area to retro fit a new system, I found the installation team to be highly competent, knowledgeable, neat clean and diligent. The company salesperson recommended a Daikin air system. I was not familiar with the brand but I was assured that with a 12 year warranty I would be getting an excellent system. They were right. I found the Daikin system to be quieter, more powerful and more energy efficient, even through a few consecutive weeks of heat waves. After the install the T.F. Follow up.. Shout out to TF Obrien heating and cooling New Hyde Park. My new Central Air compressor that TF Obrien installed is quiet but the compressor produces a buzz vibration. Not loud at all. With the unit necessarily on the balcony that vibration traveled down the wall to the bedrooms right below down to the ground floor. The building is modern frame construction and some of the framing is aluminum studs. I called them to see what they can do. After inspecting the unit they sent 2 technicians who had to uninstall the lines to raise it up on vibration dampners. They were there over four hours. What did they charge me? NOTHING, despite the problem really related to building construction not any defect in the unit or installation. (I had to get this narrow unit because it had to fit through my narrow balcony door). It worked. First needed them with a no heat situation in December. Very responsive. Then contacted them to upgrade the AC system. Used them several years ago for a Hot Water heater at another location. You get what you pay for..

They called me right back and after discussing the problem with them, they suggested that I call SEARS because the unit was still under warranty. Charla and Andre were absolutely amazing to work with. We recently bought a home where 10 of the radiators did not function properly, including leaking massive amounts of water so we could not run the system. Our radiant and baseboard heaters did not work as well. After meeting 13 plumbers I saw a TF OBrien truck and called. Charla immediately had Andrew come out and assess how to solve the issue. After at least 10 trips to our home, the heater is now working (except for the baseboard and radiant). I could not be happier with my interaction with Andre, he was professional, aware that we had kids in the house so was respectful of nap times, noise, language, etc. He was diligent in his notes back to the main office which always made for good conversation with Charla when we were following up. Charla was great at getting Andre back quickly and working around our schedule as both my husband and I work. Andre also did a great job installing our new water heater. Overall, highly recommended and amazing customer service.

Positive: We were given the same day appointment, and the problem was solved. Negative: We had to wait two weeks to correct the problem on the third visit. I had to call to reschedule the second visit. I was disappointed that on the first visit the technician didn’t occur to run the heat coil to melt the evaporator and fix the problem the same day. I was disappointed they didn’t first check the leak in the service valve and spent time looking in other areas. I was disappointed that I was not given the opportunity to recharge the system rather than a more expensive option. I ended paying around $750 for recharging the system. The next time I will buy the gauges and do it myself.

My gas fired boiler failed to fire up late in the afternoon on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Anthony called me within about 15 minutes of my placing a call to the T.F. O’Brien switchboard at about 5:30PM. He said that he was about to leave a job in Roslyn and should be in Long Beach in about an hour. He arrived right on time and very quickly diagnosed the problem with my gas fired boiler. Although it needs a new motor as a permanent fix, Anthony was able to get the system going so that it could operate for a few days until the part is ordered the next business day. Anthony was extremely knowledgeable about my system even though he had not seen it prior to his visit, he was extremely courteous and I would say that he could be the best and most efficient and effective technician that I have ever had in my home to fix a problem. You will not be sorry to have him in your home or business when you have an HVAC issue.

Heat turned off, so we called T.F. O'Brien. They called us back, and in under a half an hour Ray arrived. He looked at the furnace, and knew immediately what was wrong. He removed a part, fixed it and literally in just a few minutes, it was up and running. That was 3 days ago, and all is warm and well.
