I have been using this company for over 30 years, and they have a near-perfect track record for scheduling deliveries. II have only twice run out of oil the entire time. Their customer service is very helpful and interested in getting problems straightened out. My main issue: All my past records were lost when they transferred accounts to the new system. No big deal since I have them anyway, but if I need to look up a past balance or payment I can't.

The process via Customer Service was seamless and answered all our questions and concerns we had not only with the contract but with all pertinent details. The company representative that originally signed me up was professional and courteous. He set everything up for me. However when it was time for me to contact the company to pay my bill. It took hours to get a human on the phone. I called for weeks before I was able to get any over the phone assistance as I couldn’t sign in online. This was a huge inconvenience and kind of threw off the first impression. Hoping it all works out. Price was quoted differently than the original quote. I’m sure it’s because of how much the market changes.

I had asked last year and this year to have monthly deliveries, not to depend on "degree days," and automatically you send a truck 30 or so days. I have emphysema, am 80 years old, with thin skin. I cannot work around the house if the heat is at 68 degrees (peripheral artery disease) and keep it at 72 or higher on windy, cold days. Thank you. We've never shopped around for oil suppliers and my parents bought this house and I inherited it--so that makes 63 years of companies with good service (name change three times when sold).

My Girlfriend called me to ask me to come to her mothers house because there was oil on the basement floor. We found out that she had a contract with Petro and we called to ask what she needed to do. The same day Petro sent Vincent (#304) to her home. This technician was able to patiently and professionally calmly diagnose what the problem was and how to resolve it. Not only was he able to calm down everyone by explaining step by step what needed to be done , but he actually cleaned the whole floor and stopped the leaking oil tank. If it wasn’t for the professional way that Vincent made a bad situation for my girlfriend’s family, We wouldn’t know what to do! Large service companies like Petro could use more service employees like Vincent. I must say that he was just the most professional person I have ever met, his carefully explanation made it easy to understand for everyone. However the way that he cleaned up the oil was something that no one expected. Thank you Petro for sending employees like Vincent (#304). Your company gets 5 stars from us!

Petro is Okay. Im Used to a smaller company with great customer service and skilled technicians (which Petro bought out). The technicians are not on the same level, some are not knowledgeable about boiler systems or seem to not know what they're doing, a few don't like going into basements. Which is strange because most boilers are in basements. I realized, once you get a good one - write down their name & request that person. Customer service is okay. Not great. Btw, if you need service... Most appointment times, at least for me, are too late. I'm talking a time window of 12am-3am. All times I needed service this was their window. Have to do better. I'm being generous with 3 stars.

This is my second home and First time using heating oil. The previous owner recommended Petro services to me and so far so good. The sales rep took her time to explain the various options to me and I like their automatic delivery service as that is one less thing I have to keep track of. We have been with them for over 25 years. I find that most of the Tech's that do come out are excellent. They have a quick response and never really keep you waiting. After reading all these negative reviews I wonder if this is the same company. I really feel bad for those who had a bad experience. They usually work with you. My parents had the company first and they were very courteous to senior citizens. Their tech. Chris was excellent and we usually try to get him. I renewed my contract I hope that they remain as they always have been.

In 2019, a much better experience than I remember from a few years ago: A short wait on the phone. Not an ordeal to set up an appointment. And the service tech arrived in the schedule window. He got to work and figured out the problem and replaced a transformer. So I would recommend Petro for service. In 2022, the technian (Chris) who came to my was professional and explained everything. Noticed right away that the water level indicator needed work without bringing it first to him.

Recently, we had a problem with the furnace turning off. We requested a service appt. and another tech was sent, who could not fix the problem. On this and at every other time Anthony has been our service person, he not only took care of the problem quickly and efficiently, but did so with his usual kind and courteous attitude. your company's response was absolute superb. My furnace stopped working in the early am just a day or two after receiving fuel. Your technicians identified the problem immediately and had a repair person at the house in the late afternoon the same day and solved the problem and heat was restored within 12 hours of being notified. great work

I like to have a good name behind me of a big company. I keep coming back to Petro. Best service contract ever. They will not nickel and dime you like the small guys do on their contracts when something goes wrong and it's never covered. You can at least make a deal with them and get a nice price on a Premier contract. If you have an older boiler you must have the premier contract. Prices are fair. I've been there with a few of the small operations and no good.

When my system went down several times in 2weeks (no faults of theirs), just an OLD broiler they kept coming to start, fix and replace parts until finally the OLD broiler WORKED. Customer Service awesome, apologetic even though the situation was out of their hands (it pays to be NICE). The home Tech's same as customer service but, in a different way cause you come face to face with them were as customer service we're just a voice, a # and address. Although there were serious problems diagnosing and repairing my Mitsubishi split system air conditioning unit, including having to cut an unnecessary hole in a wall, persistence paid off. The excellent Petro office staff was always sympathetic courteous and efficient with prompt emails and follow-ups. 3 out of the 4 technicians that came to work on the unit were amazingly nice, and seemed to be genuinely concerned with fixing a stubborn leak. Chris, the 3rd technician who finally figured it out was extremely thorough and the Manager who came to check everything, (also named Chris) was patient, and understanding despite all the problems, He offered to deduct the cost of cutting open the wall and repairing it so as long as that works out I'll be happily sticking with Petro for heating and cooling service in my 3 story mixed use building.

I recently had to have my 30yr old oil burner replaced. Petro was very professional in accomplishing this major task. From the day I was informed that the boiler was leaking, I met with their salesman, a price was determined and an installation date scheduled shortly thereafter. In a matter of days my installation date and time was set, the installers arrived on time and the boiler removal and installation was performed in a very professional manner. I have a finished basement and the project was amazingly clean, considering what needed to be done. They thoroughly tested the system before they left, and I am happy to report the house never been warmer, just in time for winter.

Scheduled someone to come by and check the furnace. Been given times between 8am to 12pm. No one showed up, called again, told me that someone is on their way soon. Time management is poor, especially when customers are given specific times to be home while this company can't even fulfill their end of the obligation. Update 12/26/2017: Ryan the technician came by to take a look at my furnace, he was professional and straight to the point as to what needs to be done. His explanations on my current furnace can be deadly if not taken care of correctly. He made the effort to help me shut down the unit. The following day, Robert, an inspector/licensed contractor came by to explain details on the removal and installation of a new unit, made a competitive estimate. =Update 2019= It has been over a year since the above review. What I've learned from this experience is that Petro purchases natural gas furnaces wholesale. Customers then pay the price that Petro offers and hires outside contractors that they trust for repairs. The extra money that goes to Petro is for insurance purposes (ie. protection of commercial name, their hired contractors and employees). For the money that I paid, it would have made more sense to use the Yellow Pages for licensed contractors, however due to Petro's professionalism toward their customers makes it hard to refuse. If I had to choose, for budget reasons, I'd look elsewhere. But if I'm in a serious pinch, Petro.

I began my dealings with Petro while settling an estate. They were very difficult, actually made my fiance cry once, and continually promised call backs that never took place. Then they delivered oil we didn't even order. Just when the situation looked dire, I met Robert Bento of the Customer Experience Improvement Team. The sun came out from behind the clouds and every promise he made he kept. I cannot speak highly enough of Rob. I hate to do it to him, but if you deal with this company, take my advice: save Rob's name as you will likely need it.

I called for repair service for No Heat, & was given a 3 hour window of time. I was told that the repairman came nearly an hour after the end of the proposed window. I know that the repairmen may get stuck at a repair job longer than expected, but Petro should have back-up repairmen to fill-in for delays in service. Other-wise, the oil burner was repaired & heat was restored.

Don't have to worry about filling up my tank. It's automatically filled when the time is right. Also service is done every year on the boiler.
