Ray N. Welter Heating Company installed a Mini-split in our detached garage. They were super timely, nice, prepared, and responsive to hiccups that got in the way. They worked around the issue of the electrical company not installing the electricity on time and were very flexible. Instillation took no time at all and they cleaned up after they were done. You could not tell even that work had been done. Would recommend to anyone!

Ray N. Welter Heating is an excellent company to work with. When we had trouble with our furnace, we initially called another company to take a look at it. The guy they sent out took a pair of tin snips and cut the back off the furnace (without doing any preliminary diagnostics and without asking my permission). Then he told me we had a cracked heat exchanger (scam alert) and told me we could all die of carbon monoxide poisoning (mega-scam alert). He recommended we buy a new furnace, as the old one wasn't worth repairing. I told him we might decide to buy a new furnace, but it wouldn't be from his company. I know enough about physics to understand the "cracked heat exchanger" scare tactic. It's a very old scam. I patched up the back of the furnace with foil tape and went online to find a better company. We called Welter based on good reviews (plus, my wife likes their television commercials). We talked with them about options and eventually decided it would be a good idea to replace our 30-year-old furnace with a new, high-efficiency model. They installed both our furnace and our central air conditioner. When we had trouble with the air conditioner they came out and repaired the problem under warranty so there was no cost to us. Ralph C. even took the time to thoroughly clean the outdoor unit. It's nice to find a company that's knowledgable and honest. Highly recommended.

We had some issues with our AC unit freezing due to air flow issues and a faulty valve. Everyone who we worked with was amazing. They explained what they were looking for and why. We had to call them back because some issues persisted and they came quickly and solved the problem. I was worried about finding an HVAC repair company because they can be difficult to work with, but finding Ray N. Welter has been great. I will definitely use them for my next project or repair.

I went with Welter after getting a few bids on a new furnace. I'd just had a bad experience with a Carrier furnace recall and told the Welter rep that I wanted a furnace that had been out a while and was proven to be solid, so the Trane they suggested was in the process of being discontinued but they still had new ones in stock- they said they'd been installing this furnace for over 12 years with no issues or recalls- so I was all about it! I was not interested in any bells and whistles and they didn't try to upsell me, just gave me a really fair quote. The installer was on time and put in the furnace in less than 6 hours. After he left, I noticed that when my AC came on, the fan/blower was on *extremely high* and it was very loud through the vents, so I called the next morning and the guy on the phone knew exactly what was going on and they sent out the same installer to adjust it that afternoon- and it's great now, very quiet. Had a great experience! Thankful I gave them a call. I originally called another company that was able to come out same day, and they quoted me a ridiculous amount to replace a flame sensor.... I called Welter from a recommendation from my contractor, and they took one look and said it was just dirty, cleaned it up and got my furnace back working. Thank you!

They did a wonderful job for us. Scheduling was easy. They were very responsive and communicative. We had Ralph out to do the work and he did a great job. He was very nice and very knowledgeable. We had him fix some Nest thermostat and zoning issues we had. He also did a full check and tuning of our AC and heat. And most importantly, he hooked up our gas for an outdoor firepit and grill. I would highly recommend using this company.

Ray N Welter certainly has our business for the foreseeable future! We had a another company come out to look at furnace that was acting up. We had been behind on changing air filter and heater would stop and start (we changed filter and things improved but were not fixed). This other company stated we had a bad heat exchanger, would have CO leaking into house, and recommended a new $7,800 furnace. Said the part could be replaced but is not worth it. We called Ray N Welter following a positive review from a family member. Technician came out and did diagnostic testing (other company did not) and showed that gas pressure was high but all other systems were operating properly. He adjusted gas pressure and provided info that the furnace did get hot when filter was clogged but is not in need of replacement at this time. He provided recommended filter replacement intervals. He left without charging us for this second opinion. We will definitely call first next time we have an issue!

We had a great experience with Welter heating. They replaced our AC & Furnace. Multiple other vendors provided either inflated estimates or inaccurate information on what our options were for our HVAC system before I found them. Their sales people were not pushy, they explained everything in a way that didn't leave me confused and they were able to work around the constraints of our home. The installers were on time, respectful and thorough and again explained what was done, why it was done and how. We are very happy with the new system and the service provided.

Went with this company based on reviews and I wasn't disappointed. When Ralph came out, I just KNEW I could trust him. He explained everything in detail, checked and double checked his work. Didn't try to oversell. He mentioned that the unit is old and will need replaced eventually but, wasn't pushy about it. Prompt. Respectful. Professional. My A/C condenser stopped functioning recently and a neighbor recommended Ray N Welter's services. They got to my house within a day of my initial call. After some inspection, the diagnoses was that my compressor was bad. Big fix for an AC unit. One of the supervisors (Jason) suggested I check on the units warranty. As a new home owner, I didn't know the history of the unit and assumed it was much older than it was. Turns out it was still under parts and labor warranty from another company in the cities. The honesty of Jason and Ray N Welter services saved me a fortune in repairs. They never even billed me for about the hour they spent diagnosing the problem. To me honesty is 100% the number #1 quality in any business. Ray N Welter's honesty saved me lots of money. I learned my mistake as a new home owner (always check for parts/labor warranty first) and if I ever need future repairs on anything HVAC related in my house that is no longer under warranty, I will absolutely turn to Ray N Welter for service!

They paid attention to the details when they installed our new AC unit. The unit looks great, it is a high quality Trane and their cost was lower then the competition. Other places sent a guy out to shmooze us for an hour and a half using every sales trick in the book, to give us quotes that were on average $800 more for crappier units. These guys quoted us over the phone on 30 seconds. And they were super punctual, called us back when they said they would each time and confirmed the appointment the day before with a quick call. Couldn't have had a better experience, and it was the best value for sure. If we ever need our furnace replaced we will call these guys first.

We live nearby and decided to call Ray N. Welter after our old central AC (30+ years old) stopped working in the middle of a stretch of brutally high temps. Rick was able to provide me a quote almost instantly and was able to get me on the calendar quickly. Extremely easy and fast! Not only did they come out and gave me a bid in a timely manner but they were able to install the equipment weeks earlier than the other companies I had out for estimates. I am very happy with this company from start to finish. They have a very good reputation and now I see why. When we found out our furnace was shot I called Ray N.Welter (and a few others) for a bid and Rick came out the next day. It was during our first cold snap and 9 inches of snow so these guys were busy! In October no less! Rick was not in a hurry, took his time explaining what we needed and what we didn't and also what he thought we should have. I appreciated that. The day of installation the tech (Pete) was here right on time (7:30). He was very friendly, courteous, and professional and went right to work. At 1:20 Pete let me know he was finished and gave me a brief explanation of the new furnace, air filtration system, and new thermostat. All the old parts and materials were picked up and he even added a new PVC line to the drain replacing the old garden hose. All the boxes are checked at a very competitive price! So thanks guys, we appreciate it.

Welter Heating is the best! I never write reviews; we had a tech out to do service early this summer - he did a tune up and said our unit was about 25 years old, so probably past replacement time. Of course our AC died in late August during a last heat spell. George came out to check out the ductwork and make sure we were buying the right unit; they were able to save us quite a bit by replacing both the AC and furnace (which was also the same vintage) at the same time, downsizing the AC, and taking advantage of multiple energy saving discounts. Honest company, competitive pricing, and really nice folks to boot! Highly recommend this company if you need any HVAC service or to purchase.

I'm finishing my basement and had these guys come out and add ducts and supply/return vents. They quickly fit me in for an estimate and ultimately on their schedule. It was all done in a day and they even helped me out with a small task I tried doing and couldn't finish myself. They were very knowledgeable and asked the right questions to make sure I was getting what I wanted and didn't assume anything. I will definitely be calling them again when their services are needed again! Since this review we have had them out to our place to tune up the AC as well as repair a bad motor. I can’t say enough about this company and how great they are. My family was in need of a furnace do to a cracked heat exchange and Ray N. Welter stepped up to helped us out. I personally work in the trades as a plumber and have been around other companies and seen the work, I can truly say Ray N. Welter is second to none. Update - Was called back by Jason. Was really responsive and refunded the tuneup and sent someone for free to check it out. It was broken unfortunately but they were able to create a good experience and now have a much better furnace. Furnace worked fine, paid $99 for a furnace tuneup. Next time I turned on the furnace it didn’t work only 6 days later. They refused to come out to check it out for free or even a discount.

I just wanted to say THANK YOU Scott and Welter Heating!! I will definitely be recommending to others Welter Heating and will be using them again if needed!!!! Lastnight I realized my furnace stopped working and the house was getting really cold. I called a few places and decided to go with Welter Heating. When I called this morning to see what their rates where and schedule an appointment they said they could have someone out today between 12-3 which was great! They ended up having earlier availability and called to see if I wanted them to come earlier then planned. So shortly after Scott the technician came to my home. He was very professional and friendly and followed all Covid protocols. After looking into my furnace he was able to tell me what was wrong and fix it. He went over some tips for me and also other services they offer for the future if I was interested in reaching out again. No pressure and didn't feel like any kind of sales pitch. I feel he was just giving me honest information and trying to educate me as a new homeowner. I handed Scott my card for payment with pleasure! I was so worried this was going to cost me an arm and a leg and honestly that's not a lot right now. Instead I think the fees were honest and very reasonable!!!! I am always watching out for a company or technician trying to take advantage of me for not knowing much and maybe trying to do more than needed and charge me more but that was not the case here. I trusted everything Scott said and definitely think he is an asset to this company and a good person. With employees like this the company itself has to be great! NOTE: I used This company back in November of 2018 and becaused I edited the review it reset the date to now which is 06-13-2021. All I added was where I'm from. I just wanted people who read this to know when I was referencing. So, here's the review. Welter Heating did a great job of replacing my old air exchange unit. They were the ones who put it in 23 years ago when I had the house built. Now, here we are using them again to get rid of the old broken unit and replacing it with a brand new one. I have nothing bad to say about them. The installers were kind and respectful and Rick the owner is a good guy too. This company has been around now since 1912. THAT alone should tell you they're a good company because a bad one would not have lasted 106 years so far! I would recommend this company to anyone who asked me. My home service plus technician noticed some moisture in my boiler during the tune up and discovered I didn't have a chimney cap on my chimney. Called Ray Welter to get a quote on putting one on, they eyeballed the roof and recommend either a roofing company or drip T. So while I didn't use their service, I do appreciate their follow up, and if I have an issue in the future will make them a top choice. Follow up call to someone that may not use your service is definitely worth mentioning and praiseworthy.

I called Ray Welter heating for a second quote and second opinion on a furnace deemed "unsafe to operate" due to a supposed crack in heat exchanger found by another vendor. The owner himself met me at my home to provide a quote -- which was FAR less than the other vendor. He did not oversell the products I needed (e.g., gravity floor drain instead of pump). He offered to send a technician out to provide more extensive testing on the heat exchanger. The first vendor just used a camera. The Ray Welter technician did several additional CO/Heat Exchanger tests that did not indicate a crack. The technician was very experienced and knowledgeable. Ray Welter has my business going forward. While I'm not buying a furnace from him -- because I don't need it -- his company will be doing all my annual furnace checks from now on. This company is relationship-focused and trustworthy (and reasonably priced!). Thank you!

Northern One Hour heating tried to get 825.00 to fix my furnace . They wanted to replace a circuit board, igniter and flame sensor. I did not feel comfortable with One Hour's diagnosis of my furnace so I called Ray N Welter. They showed up promptly. They got me up and running by replacing only the igniter. Best customer service EVER! I had called 3 different places for center air replacement and install quotes, was getting the run around and hard sell from some. While driving home I noticed Ray N Welter on Chicago, did a quick U-Turn, parked, chatted with 2 unbelievably nice ladies at the desk, and within 15 minutes one of the main guys there was following me back to the house (3 blocks away). By noon the VERY NEXT day the new A/C was installed. AND their prices were FAR below anyone else I called. Amazing, wonderful experience. I will always use them in the future for any heating or a/c issues.

I recently had my furnace failure blower fail. I’m a pretty fearless DIYer but it didn’t take long (or much internet surfing) to determine I was in over my head while the house was getting colder. I agonized over the thought of letting someone into the house based on past experiences with “techs” learning on my dime. I decided to give Ray N Welter a shot, having grown up in their neighborhood and figuring if they had been around this long they must be doing something right. My fears were somewhat abated when they were able to show up the same day and in the time window they said with a phone call saying when they were on the way. Even better, I got an experienced tech who quickly diagnosed my bad fan motor (as diagnosed by me with help from my pals on the web) as a bad motor component which he was able to quickly fix and be on his way, leaving behind a 20 year old furnace warming the house back up. I had the motor pegged at well over $500 with a low likelihood of one being on the truck (I couldn’t source one locally) and high likelihood of being out $1,000 by the time the labor to swap everything out was included. And that was if they didn’t decide the old furnace needed replacing, like a recent news story showed another, less reputable company doing. I could not be more pleased with my service call experience. I benefited from an experienced technician who, when all was said and done, saved me far more money than I paid for the service and much more quickly than I could have done it myself. When I have a need that falls into their ballpark I’ll call them in a heartbeat

When my 35 yr old ac went out I called Welter heating and cooling. From start to finish I couldn't have been more pleased with these guys. Not only did they do a great job installing my units (I got a new furnace and a/c), but they fixed what the previous owner skewed up. They were very prompt on coming out to give me a bid, but that wasn't the best part. He showed me how to make my old furnace more efficient, by messing with the air flow of the ducts. I ended up replacing my 30 yr old furnace on its last legs, but it still felt good to know he wasn't just trying to sell me something I maybe didn't need/want. Thanks guys! I love my new A/C and 97% efficient furnace.

It's such a relief to have a heating company that really feels like they're looking out for you rather than just trying to sell you stuff for a short-term boost. Welter has helped us out twice this year, and both times their technicians figured out a straightforward way to get our furnace up and running again. The second time, a tech called me on a Sunday afternoon to diagnose the problem FOR FREE and tell me how to fix it myself—it was well below freezing and they could have made hundreds of overtime dollars off of us, but the tech very generously told me I could probably tackle this myself then explained how to get to the tricky part that wasn't working right. He then insisted I call back—again, over the weekend—to tell him how it went. The employees I've dealt with have always been kind, knowledgable and endlessly helpful. I get that sometimes it's expensive to fix this stuff, but Welter has earned my loyalty 10 times over—based on my experience so far, if they tell you it's the only way, you can take their word for it. If you're nervous—like we were—about an HVAC company taking advantage of you, call Welter and never worry again.

Todd was the consultant on the phone who was A+ and sold me right away by his honesty. They were supposed to show up at 730am and showed up at 720am which is a big deal to me. Andy was the technician and installed my new Trane furnace by 1pm. He was awesome. Everyone has their opinion but there are only 2 premium A+ companies for HVAC in the Twin Cities. Ray Welter to the rescue! January 2nd wake up to an inside temp of 40 and 5 outside! Brrrr. Even though the website said they didn’t open until 8am, I called at 7:45. Cheerful guy answers, has a repairman here by 8:45, determined the part that was needed, left to pick it up and to cut to the chase, furnace back on by 10. I’ve recommended them before (new A/C unit a few years back), but wanted to say once again how great they are. Thank you Ray Welter!

Well I had an awesome experience with Welter Heating Company today! Our A/C went out on Sunday and I called Center Point only to find out they couldn't come out until WEDNESDAY between 8am and 4pm WOW!!! That's a BIG window and there was no way I was waiting until Wednesday! We have an older home with NO cross ventilation when windows are open so it never gets comfortable when it's hot. None of us slept well at all Sunday night. We got our A/C from Ray N. Welter so I thought I'm going to call them and see if they can come out before Wednesday! A nice lady answered and said Oh sure we can send someone out this afternoon. Yay!!! Then she said Oh wait (I could hear her talking to someone in the background) She said she could have someone out MONDAY morning!!!! Double YAY!! Greg was out at about 10:30am and it was a fairly simple fix and he explained everything to me and was so pleasant!! My house is cool! AND it didn't cost me an arm and a leg!! WIN!! WIN!! for us!! Thank you so much Ray N. Welter Heating Company!!! Thank you Greg!! I will be calling Welter again if I need A/C service and not Center Point!! and Thanks for the coupon to use in the future!!
