Overall a very positive experience. During the first autumn cold snap, we realized our furnace was not working (22 year old unit.) Southern Comfort was responsive and polite on the phone and quick to accommodate us. Jason looked at the furnace and confirmed our fears - it needed to be replaced. Their estimate was reasonable, and they were able to obtain and install the furnace the next business day. Mike and Greg arrived when they said they would and were courteous and polite, and we were back up and ready to go before temperatures plummeted again. Would definitely recommend.

I moved into a house that the air didn't work... low and behold, the entire inside & outside units were from 1976!! Southern Comfort was called and Jason came out quickly to determine that the system needed totally replaced. The very next day, the HVAC "team" of three guys, Robert, Greg and Jason came out and worked hard and efficiently on getting the old units out and the new ones in, having to make conversions and all. These three have amazing personalities, are respectful and are excellent with their skills. They were very informative on the new setup and cleaned up behind themselves. I appreciate y'all coming out and getting the air back up and running!! Y'all are amazing!!

I had never used Southern Comfort before and hired them based on their positive reviews and fair price for a new heat pump. I called them on a weekend and they came out timely and gave me a quote that was fair and far less than what another big company in town wanted. They didn’t put on a elaborate presentation or pester me into agreeing to anything like the others have. Matt, the owner, called me himself to update me on the install date. Charles and Rob came out today to install my new unit and were timely, explained everything and answered my questions. Both guys were very polite, friendly and knowledgeable My new unit, a 2 ton 16 SEER, is exactly what I wanted and I noticed a huge improvement in the amount of air flowing into my home when the guys turned it on (highly recommend a 16 SEER). Hopefully it’ll be awhile before I need to call for repairs but will definitely use Southern Comfort for any future HVAC needs.

We've had technicians come out a couple of times within the past couple of weeks for various reasons. Yesterday, Jason L was the technician that came to do the yearly furnace check. He was very knowledgeable and personable. He was familiar with the previous appointment that we had and checked on the condition of the repair that was performed. Jason went out of his way to thoroughly explain situations and any questions that I had. He also made friends with our cat which gives him an extra + on his A+ service.

From the request for an estimate to the completion of the work Southern Comfort was outstanding. We called for an estimate and the technician was here within hours. He explained our options and did not pressure us to make a decision as we could have limped along with our existing system for a while. We obtained two estimates. SC’s was slightly lower and had a better warranty. Once we accepted the estimate SC was here the next day. The technicians were outstanding. They were both professional and personable. I could hear them outside my window. Griffin, the lead tech, was great explaining what and why to the other technician. They genuinely seemed to enjoy working together. Everything was great from start to finish. I highly recommend Southern Comfort for your HVAC needs.

What can’t I say about Southern Comfort heating, both Joey and Griffin (sorry if I messed up the spelling man.) they were awesome they were professional they went above and beyond with their work and even found a pretty substantial gas leak that we were unaware of and fixed it without hesitation or questions because as they said it was the right thing to do. They also went above and beyond with being thorough about a question for where a duct went and were very attentive to any questions about anything that had been done as well as giving a full description in the email that was sent out. Let me put it this way when I say Worth Every Penny! I mean it they were very professional and also very personable they were just like friends you hadn’t seen in a long time coming to help you out. I’m looking forward to the spring to see both Griffin and Joey back to have the services we signed up for done. Thank you so very much again Joey and Griffin and thank you Southern Comfort HVAC. P.S. We needed to replace our 19 year old HVAC system and so we had several companies come out to our house for estimates. But Ray, from Southern Comfort, stood out above the rest. We were so impressed with how thorough he was in his inspection of our existing system and how he took the time to answer all our questions—we could really tell he was very experienced and that made us feel like our HVAC install would be in good hands. Ray, Greg and all the guys were great on the day of the install. They were prompt, professional, polite and they all worked tirelessly to make sure our new HVAC system was installed right. There was some initial miscommunication between Amy ( Southern Comfort Heating & Cooling) and myself with regard to my appointment time, which required me to rush across town to meet the technician who was already in my driveway. However, everything after that initial hiccup went as smooth as anyone could hope for. Greg ( the service tech) was polite and certainly very professional. One glance at my thermostat and he immediately saw that I had 1 wire on the incorrect terminal from my replacement thermostat installation the previous day, which prevented the furnace from running. He switched the wire to the correct terminal, checked my furnace filter and was on his way. Although, not Greg's fault, the cost to switch 1 wire was $366.00 however he gave me a discounted price of $225...which still seems a bit excessive for 5 minutes work, however I've used Souther Comfort Heating in the past and would highly recommend them and use them again, if the need ever arises. Just be sitting down when they hand you the bill!!!!! Thank You Comfort Heating and Cooling....you guys are the best!!!

This company save our weekend. Came around midmorning on a SATURDAY, I called Friday afternoon, did some testing and told me what was wrong. My AC was frozen and it would take several hours for it to thaw. Came back right on time and worked hard in the heat of the day. Explained what he was doing. He had to bring a step ladder in the house to get in the attic and did not hit anything. Did some taping in the attic, added coolant and the temp starting dropping. I wish I could remember his name. I give them an A+ for a job well done.

When we turned our furnace on for the first time of the season we noticed that it wasn’t heating properly and was kicking off. I contacted the owner of the business, Matt Helgerson, and he had his service technician Ray at my home in less than 12 hours. Ray was very skilled and knowledgeable about my system and determined that the problem was dirt that had gotten into one of my lines. Used Southern Comfort to install a new HVAC system after our 30 year old upstairs system stopped working. They were quick to come out and review product options as well as install the unit the day after we made our decision to use them (weather has been in the high 80’s for several days). We chose them over another well respected company due to their warranty (lifetime on air compressor) as well as their ability to install it quickly. We were also pleased to get a thermostat with remote sensor that helps us better regulate our temps upstairs. We did have a few minor issues after installation regarding a noise in the refrigerant line. Very friendly and informative. He cleaned a furnace component and my 20 year old furnace was up and running. Cost was very reasonable. A day later the furnace was blowing cold air again. Matt had a tech at my house first thing that morning. He spent several hours troubleshooting the intermittent problem, but I was not charged for a second service call. SC took time to resolve the problem. Their objective was to resolve the problem in the most cost effective way. They weren't there to spend five minutes to sell me a new system. Great company. Furnace went out Saturday night (and therefore the whole AC). Called southern comfort Sunday morning and a tech came out a couple hours later to do a diagnostic. The problem was more complex than he was familiar with so he readily called some of his more senior colleagues for guidance. The fact that he was comfortable calling for help was very reassuring to me. Anyway, the problem was fixed a few days later after the damaged part came in. Matt came in the evening, was in and out pretty quickly due to the install fixing the problem BUT a few hours after he left it stopped working AGAIN! I called Matt again. He came right back (at almost 8pm no less) and identified the original problem that was previously hidden. He fixed that at no extra charge and went on his way to do a couple more service calls. Our experience with Southern Comfort is totally positive. Called on Wednesday around noon when discovered A/C unit wasn’t cooling. Matt told me they were triple booked but would get to me that afternoon sometime. Stephan and Clarence arrived in 3 hours and worked in the rain. Determined my A/C fan motor needed replacing. Aaron came back first thing next morning and working in the rain replaced motor. Techs were very courteous and professional and did an excellent job. Excellent service and pricing was reasonable.

In summary, the guys at Southern Comfort were prompt, professional and efficient. I began my experience by reading reviews of other local companies and called three at the conclusion of my research. Each company I had called other than SC wanted to see me three days from the time of call. Alternatively, Matt said he would see me that afternoon, same day, within two hours. He provided me with an estimate of small additions that would greatly improve my situation with minimal costs. Later I requested a quote for replacing half of my system and re-do duct work that another Lexington company had undersized and was far from optimized in respect to air pressure and efficiency. The quote was completely free and when I called to schedule the job, Matt ensured me that the job would be completed in one day, and of course they were ready to install the next day when I was planning on the following week. I let them in at 9 am and they were sweeping my floors at 530 pm, I had an opportunity to review the work and they were out the door. I would like to thank Matt, Aaron and the rest of the Southern Comfort team for putting the customer first and significantly increasing the comfort in my home.

My experience with Southern Comfort Heating and Air was very positive. They first gave me an estimate of when the techs would arrive, then when they were about 20 mins out, they called me to let me know they would be right there. The techs wear shirts bearing the company name and arrive in a clean, newish work van with the business name and information clearly visible -- in other words, you know at a glance who is in your drive and knocking on the door. When the tech came in/out of my house, each time he put shoe covers over his boots so dirt wouldn't be tracked in. My AC required a couple of hours work, and the techs labored in a small crawl space in high temps. When done, the tech came in, checked the temp output, explained everything, and was very polite and helpful. Was it cheap? I don't know -- how much does an AC gizmo cost and what is the value of 2 techs working a couple of hours? Was the price reasonable? Well, if I had to do it again, I would definitely call Southern. They have my future heating/AC business. Very professional and great quality.

Southern Comfort saved us from having a freezing house and broken water pipes! We have a heat pump that was half way working that is backed up by a gas furnance. But the gas furnance suddenly quit working when temps were below heat pump capability. Temp inside our house was 55 one night. I called Matt Jan 26, he promised they could get there the next day. Our first call was made after waking up to a downstairs at 59 degrees. Within a matter of only 2 hours Southern Comfort had someone at our door. Jason L climbed in the attic and listened to our downstairs heating system for less than 10 seconds before knowing exactly what needed to be done. He replaced the burned out part and informed us that we might be looking at replacing the blower motor if it worked itself to death the night before. Wouldn’t you know it, 38 hours later our downstairs was back into the 50s just as Jason L predicted. Another call was made, another trip was made by Jason L and he had the heat back on less than an hour later. Southern Comfort and Jason L will be our only option for heating and cooling.

Not only did Matt (owner) give us the best quote for a new heatpump install to replace our 20 year old (and failing) heatpump. RESIDENTIAL GAS FURNACE REPAIR ON SATURDAY My mom told me her gas furnace wasn't working...she had no heat. I went there to see if I could determine the issue since I usually repair everything myself. I diagnosed a failed inducer blower, replaced it and everything looked good but then found there was no gas to the burners. Having confirmed the electronics were OK I was out of ideas, though certain the issue was an unsatisfied interlock somewhere (I had no schematic.) I left a message (on a Saturday morning) for Southern Comfort Heating and Cooling to schedule service. My call was returned within 30 minutes and a field support technician arrrived within two hours. Equally mystified, the tech worked on the system for two hours then found clogged vapor drain lines (something I never considered), he also found the wrong dust filter installed by the OEM restricting proper air flow. After clearing the blockage and cleaning some oxidation on various terminals the furnace worked just fine again. I don't trust having just anyone come into my mom's home, but we found the field support technician to be very skilled, responsive, courteous, and trustworthy. I highly recommend Southern Comfort Heating and Cooling!

I had tolerated the same HVAC company for my residence for years while using various others for the rental properties in an attempt to find a long term replacement. I finally found Matt Helgerson's company by chance and believe they will be my forever HVAC contractor. They have installed two residential a/c units, two commercial a/c units and a furnace, and made several service calls on the other older equipment. I have an 18 year old Rheem 10 seer unit that was installed in my new construction home in 2000. The last two or three years I have been barely getting through the summer months but, I was afraid to get just anybody to check it out. I knew I needed freon but was afraid the whole unit would need to be replaced. I finally decided to call SOCO because of all the positive reviews. The SOCO tech (Clarence Adams) called before he arrived. I told him the issue I was having. He suspected low freon as well and got right to work. He took the time to let me know what he was doing and why. Within 2 hours my AC is working like new. He put in 3 pounds of freon and an additive called leak seal to repair any potential leaks. I don't know how long this repair will last but if I can get a couple more years out of this system I will be truly happy. Thanks Clarence for the great service.

rate everyone I interacted with at Southern Comfort as an A+. I got the name of this company from an AC distributor, not from any list or review. I had gotten a few quotes from better known companies, but was still not sure what was the best AC unit for me. I wanted a quieter unit, moved away from the old AC location which was right next to my deck. I had suggested to the other estimators that I move the AC unit five to ten feet to the right. Southern Comfort estimator Aaron was the first person to take a look at the furnace location and look around the yard, and suggested moving the unit to an entirely different place (side of house where no one goes - found a way to go that way from the furnace through my basement), freeing up my entire backyard from ugly AC and noise. I was impressed by his creativity and initiative, solving a problem in five minutes that I had been wondering how to fix for years. This company sells mostly American Standard units, which wasn't one of the top ACs I had read about, but neither did it seem to have a lot of dissatisfied buyers. Mid range price, the only problem is it wasn't rated as quiet as some more expensive brands. Matt, the owner, explained to me because of the age and type of furnace I had, I would not get the benefits of the higher end "quiet" models as my furnace is not variable so would be spending money for nothing. Plus, noise less of issue with new location. They came and installed the AC quickly, and cleaned up after themselves. They also put on a sound blanket. Everyone nice and polite. Mike was the lead technician. When I went and checked the furnace room later that night, I noticed something leaking on to the floow. Mike showed up right away around 10 pm and found the problem. It turned out that all the manipulations had knocked some slime loose that was growing inside some pipe for years, and clogged something. So he fixed the problem and went on his way. Ditto when I turned on and heard loud noise when blower was on. Turned out to be a simple piece of tape left somewhere, which they came out right away and removed. Everytime I called, they were prompt to respond, no complaints. OH - and there is a five year labor warranty that is even transferable. Fantastic! Overall, I am very glad I went to the trouble to get several estimates, and ended up with this company. Five stars! So far AC is running quiet and cool!

My sister is 72 not in good health and her about 50 year old furnace went out about a week ago she was going to the store on Saturday and seen Southern Comfort office on Leestown rd and stop to ask them about it but they where closed so she wrote a note on a napkin and put it in their mailbox explaining her situation and that she didnt have much money but she could make payments and on monday at 7 am she received a call and was told someone would be out in a couple hours a very polite young man came out to look at it she thought he was too young to know how to fix it but after he looked at it he told her he had to go on a parts run and when he came back he replaced the thermocouple and the filter and now it works great then the Tec went to his van to write up her bill and she was thinking God i wonder how much this is gonna cost me he came back to the door and told her his boss said there was no charge and to have a Merry Christmas.
