I use Modern Mechanical regularly for my business and now I am using them for my personal home. We had them install a new system on our house about a year ago. They come and service it every 6 months and are very professional and wonderful to work with. Today Laurence came to our home and did a very good job with our unit. My husband and I were both on work calls at the time and he serviced our unit with no interruptions. If you are looking for a great company to work with I highly recommend Modern Mechanical!

I typically don't write many reviews, but I have nothing, but good things to say about this company. I had a problem with my home A/C unit and it was a nightmare getting my system properly diagnosed. I went through 2 or 3 other companies before finding Modern Mechanical. The professionalism and service I received was outstanding! The first expert that came out to my house (Lawrence) was top notch. Not only did Lawrence properly diagnosed my system (which saved me $2k and kept me from replacing another part that a different company stated was the problem), I like the fact that Lawrence took the time to show and explain things to me. He actually was able to break everything down in simple terms and visually showed me where the issue was and why I was experiencing the problem. To make a long story short, I really enjoyed my interaction with this company. They were honest in their assessment, gave me the best options and wasn't pushing me to go with the most expensive option. Big thanks to Lawrence and another guy by the name of Joe who gave me his assessment as well on best options moving forward. The tech that came out to complete the maintenance on my systems (Justin and Marco) were great as well. All around excellent experience and zero complaints on my end

Maureen at the office was polite, courteous and very friendly. She sent Matthew out and he could not have been better. He knew my dad was a senior with some memory issues but still involved him in what was going on while handing the business end with me by phone due to me living out of town. He was polite, courteous and didn’t charge my dad a dime over the inspection fee which I had already agreed to. He did offer me a service plan which I declined but he did not pressure me beyond that. He even called me to tel me what dad had his thermostat set on, which was too cold. I asked him if if you back in and adjust it and speak to my dad about the best place to keep it and he did. I’d recommend Modern Mechanical to anyone in the Garner/Raleigh/Clayton area! Thanks again!

Highly recommended professionals. My service tech was courteous, answered all my questions, and made sure maintenance items not directly related to the repair were in good order before finishing up. Good, honest people. Emergency service charge (weekends, holidays, etc.) was reasonable, and the tech called ahead and arrived before the scheduled time window. We called Modern Mechanical on Tuesday to investigate having fluorescent garage fixtures replaced with LEDs and to add fixtures to get more light. Todd came out that afternoon, we discussed options, and he gave us a quote which we accepted. He came back on Friday as promised and replaced two fixtures and added two more. He measured carefully to position the new fixtures, and the new wiring was well-placed, clear of equipment, traffic, and storage areas in the attic. He was careful to hand us the fixture documentation from the packaging. He cleaned up and took away the old fixtures. He was friendly and personable to boot. Oh yes, we liked the price they charged. We went from wondering about how we'd redo the lighting to having a beautiful installation in less than 4 days. We couldn't have hoped for more. We are very happy with the job they did.

Jake did an excellent job responding to an emergency weekend repair on my furnace tonight. He was able to access and fix the problem quickly. He answered all my questions and explained the problem well. He was professional and pleasant. John did an excellent job last week assessing a furnace problem then installing a new control board, zone and bypass motors, and thermostats to fix the problem. He was knowledgeable and thorough. He answered all my questions and explained the new system to me. He also performed routine seasonal maintenance on the heating system. I would highly recommend Modern Mechanical.

Over the past several years, Modern Mechanical has replaced both of the HVAC systems in my house. Their work on the replacements was first class, as has been the routine maintenance I've had them perform to ensure the systems continue to perform as designed. On July 25th, Pete performed the latest service on both units. He arrived on time, explained what he was going to do and asked me several questions regarding the performance of the systems. He proceeded to a thorough cleaning and testing of both, after which he reviewed what he had done and his findings. (No problems, in this case!) Throughout the process, he was courteous and friendly, and took appropriate measures to protect my house. This level of service is what I've experienced with all of my dealings with Modern. I highly recommend using them for your HVAC needs. I haven't had the opportunity to use any of their other services, but I won't hesitate to if the need arises.

Called Modern Mechanical becuase my downstairs unit stopped working after we had a power surge. To my luck they sent Laurence again. I worked with him last year. Great experience with him. I contacted Modern Mechanical on a Sunday afternoon and they sent someone to come see why our AC wasn’t working. Laurence was very helpful and checked everything out. He found we needed an engine replacement which he was able to do that day. Laurence explained everything in detail and was very professional. Their prices are great! Matthew & Kenney arrived at our house the same day we called Modern Mechanical. They diagnosed the issue quoted a repair and started work. The condenser fan was not running. As they started the motor replacement they noticed a loose wire, reattached and the unit ran as desired. No motor replacement required. They cleaned the blower and checked the unit. They were polite, knowledgeable, efficient and above all else honest. I now have an annual service agreement for maintenance and would recommend Modern Mechanical. Modern Mechanical installed out new system and it has been outstanding. Recently however a strange issue popped up. I called and they sent a technician the same day. The issue turned out to be a broken control wire where the old system tied into the new. For those that do not know, wires can break at any time since are are subject to expansion and contraction and with the temperature swings that we have experienced lately, I was not surprised. The wired originally installed when the house was built in 1995 is what broke, and yes my friends, it broke under the house in the crawl space. Great work by the technician. Cannot say enough about what a quality company this is to do business with.

We have been a customer since the family owned and operated company was established in 2010. We quickly experienced the dedicated, reliable, and proactive business we were looking for. Recently, our upstairs air conditioning system failed on one of the hottest days of the summer. The other company was saying we needed an entirely NEW furnace…. Within 30 minutes of Modern Mechanical’s tech being on site, he had discovered that the previous contractor had installed multiple parts incorrectly. Modern Mechanical then reinstalled the parts (correctly!) and had our unit working within 30minutes of arrival after the previous company had made 5 service calls over approximately a month and had not resolved our HVACs issues. Each time we had to call, the company answered and or got back to us within hours..one time we were told that it'd be three more days before someone could come but when I explained the urgency of having a premy baby in the house they made a call and a guy came out THAT afternoon! so we appreciate that. I have been used the modern mechanical for the last few years for ac repair. Two weeks ago, the ac after 18 years finally died. I called around for the quote, the modern mechanical gave me the best quote for mid range ac. The estimate guy Scott went around to the house and remeasure all the rooms and get the actual footage and reduce downstairs ac from 4 ton to 3.5 ton. He also loaned us two small window ac prior the installation. The guys came in and finished ac installation in two days. They did an excellent job for installation. And Lawrence came in and validate everything prior my sign off. I will use them again.

I was very impressed with the efficiency abs professionalism for my work. Todd Frickman was awesome! He not only did the work in a timely manner, but explained things along the way. Like when we had an above ground pool installed, he helped install a new outlet for the pump. He kindly explained safety precautions for our family!

Recently our HVAC system failed and unfortunately, the whole system was at the end of its life and needed replacement. We asked several companies for estimates, of which Modern Mechanical was included. Modern Mechanical was the company that provided the most detailed evaluation of our system needs, visiting every inch of our home making measurements, and provided a list of options at several price points. After evaluation of the quotes we received and consideration of the attention each company had given to evaluation of our needs, we decided on Modern Mechanical. We made an excellent choice. The system we settled on was in stock, we were given a reasonable date for installation, and provided with a couple of window units to hold us over in the hot weather. Modern Mechanical showed up on time, with three crews, and were done with the installation by mid-afternoon. When I returned home from work a sole representative remained to walk me through setting up the wifi connection to a Trane app and making sure any remaining questions were answered. We were walked through every step of the process from initial evaluation to installation and the company even registered all our new equipment for us. We were thrilled with the service we received and look forward to using Modern Mechanical for all our HVAC needs in the future. I'll be recommending them to any neighbors who need a reputable HVAC company. Writing this from a comfortably cool home!

Modern Mechanical has been my HVAC service provider for 20 years because they are trustworthy, professional, and communicative with fair and appropriate pricing. They’ve installed my HVAC systems and maintained them properly through those years. They also reconstructed my duct work to install a 2nd system in one of my homes. They provided top notch work. I recently HAD to use another company and was price gouged and the “maintenance” performed actually caused more damage. Modern Mechanical came to assess, then repair under their warranty but moreover their technicians were transparent in what was going on, with thorough explanation and even physically showing me the areas that were problematic. Their senior technician Laurence was extremely helpful and friendly, affirming trust, making us very happy customers! As a single female with my own residence, as well as a caregiver for my elderly father in his residence, it’s challenging to find professional service that won’t take advantage of our situation or lack of knowledge. Our Thermostat went blank, and a reset didn't work. Left Modern Mechanical a voice mail last night and they responded first thing this morning. They sent Laurence here at my convenience. From sales to installation to maintenance check ups, I have found MM to be a great compnay. We bought our home last year and needed to have new heating, A.C. and all new duct work installed. Was it inexpensive? No…but for something you use almost every day of the year, AND that can save money in the long run we felt it was well worth it! Every person I dealt with was responsive and knowledgeable & so nice! They arrived on time and followed up when they said they would. There was a slight issue (rattling noise) with one of the attic units. When I called they came right over and worked on it until the issue was resolved. They came recently to check up on units and replace filters. The young man who did the work was so through and took the time to explain what had did. We are extremely happy with our whole new system upgrade. I would highly recommend you give them a call for all your heating & air needs!

Owner is awesome, would never go to another A/C company after meeting him. He is the true meaning of great leadership trickles down to his employees! Competitive prices for new HVAC system installation. I submitted an online request for an estimate on a Sunday & I received a call the same day to schedule an appointment. A representative came out 3 days later for a thorough assessment of HVAC needs for my house & provided detailed information on appropriate choices. He was incredibly helpful, answered all of my questions and made it easy to select the best product for my home. Once I decided which system I wanted to purchase, he brought & picked up all of the necessary paperwork, again making the process easy & convenient. The installation team was wonderful, showed up exactly on time and were professional & polite. They kept me informed throughout the process and made sure I had all of the information I needed before they left. Unfortunately, due to no fault of theirs, I knew the next day that the system wasn’t heating properly. Since it was a weekend, I waited to call until Monday. They had a service technician at my house within 3 hours of my call. The compressor in the heat pump was bad, so they replaced the whole heat pump- the very next morning! I’m confident that I’ve found a trustworthy company that will continue to provide excellent service.

Modern Mechanical HVAC is very professional and friendly. I strongly recommend the company if you have any issues with your AC or Heater. I had an issue with my heater last week, so I called the company for the first time since it was recommended by my neighbor. They came to my house on the same day and found the issue immediately. It was $75 to call the technicians, but when I signed up for the 1 year maintenance service on that day, they did not charge me $75. I just needed to pay the 1 year maintenance fee, which costs $160 including the Ac and Heater. They cleaned up all the water pipes and heater units very carefully. I was really satisfied with the service!

When I say team, I mean everyone from the technicians, sales, install team, project lead, supervisor went above and beyond to maintain the highest standards of responsiveness and quality. The team knocked out a complete duct removal and brand new 4 ton Trane HVAC/AC install in a day to make sure we were up and running before the cold front came through. We can not recommend these guys highly enough. We had a routine inspection done that found a damaged heat exchanger on our downstairs unit. Another company told us that the part would take a fair while to come in and we were in the middle of a cold snap. Modern Mechanical dispatched an engineer to check our issue, we were contacted by the residential team, surveyed and installed a new unit inside 48hrs. Not only were they efficient but the quality of workmanship was superb. They ALL went above and beyond what one would expect from a service company, they really made us feel like we were the only people they were helping at this moment. I emailed them to see if they would be able to provide a copy of the work that was done with a receipt as I couldn’t find ours and Shannon sent me an incredibly detailed list of all that work that was and has been completed since then with copies of everything we need. She went above and beyond (on a Saturday morning mind you, which was not expected!) and it is so greatly appreciated!! One thing I also appreciated was that they do accept financing options, some HVAC repair companies take cash only and while that is awesome and great if you have it like that, most of us don’t. So, I appreciated that they took multiple forms of payment because when you don’t have any heat, how you’re going to pay to get it fixed is the last thing you want to worry about.

We've been customers of Modern Mechanical for multiple years now, since @ 2016, from another house that we were renting and then in our present house that we purchased. I can’t say enough good things about this company. Jason and Andrew went above what we expected to deal with difficult situations in our home. The entire research, selection, installation and review processes made us feel very confident and satisfied with Modern Mechanical. And, The new Trane heating & AC systems work great. Last summer our 16-year-old AC failed during one of our hottest summer days. Due to its age, we decided to replace it with a more efficient unit. Due to other customers’ demands, Modern couldn’t replace the system for Several days. So, they provided temporary window units to tide us over. We also asked them to replace our other system (different floor), but they convinced us to wait until after the season when demand (and prices) would be lower. After installing the second unit (now in Winter), we ran into a difficult inspector. Modern (especially Jason and Andrew) worked to satisfy our local inspectors and resolved all issues-even though Modern didn’t cause the issues, which I know occupied more time than they expected. TLDR, Modern Mechanical is the company you should choose. I’ve held off on writing a review until we’ve had a chance to let the dust settle so to speak. I wanted to really get a chance to see how our new HVAC unit performs and really see how I’ve felt about the overall experience. It has been a little over six months since the installation, and I could not be happier. We needed to replace our entire HVAC right before Christmas 2018. Like many people, I do not have a lot of experience with HVAC replacement. However, I do know when I’m being sold and when someone is taking the time to ensure that their offer matches my needs. Scot with Modern Mechanical took the time to measure each of my rooms, size the unit, examine the existing duct work, and provide a full explanation of everything he was quoting. Another company rushed through the same steps without taking the time to explain much of anything or even to ensure that the unit would match our needs. After reading the Google reviews and thinking about the quotation experience, I chose Modern Mechanical. The installation crew was prompt, courteous, and well run by the foreman. The final result looked tight and clean and all debris from the installation were removed. The foreman took time after the installation to address any questions I had, and he was exceptionally helpful answering all of my questions. When the city inspector came, she said that their installations are always some of the best she sees. Six months later, we have had no problems, no complaints, and my energy bills are significantly less. I would highly recommend Modern Mechanical for any HVAC need.

Things started off a bit shaky as the initial gentleman provided information to me that was apparently incorrect nor was it relayed back to their office. Then Steve, who was the Project Manager guided me through the proposal, setup and just getting things done. He has an amazing personality and is wonderful to speak with. Then there were the service men Matt, Melvin, John and Allen. Not only do I have only positive feedback for each of them but so does my tenant. I have a yearly tune up service with Modern Mechanical. They come 4 times a year to check AC/Heat to make sure all is running properly, clean debris from outside unit and check air filters. The company representatives who came to my house all did one of three things: spent five minutes underneath the house, then five minutes creating a proposal and estimate; spent two to three hours on a sales pitch to convince me to have work done that I knew I did not need; or spent thirty to sixty minutes around and underneath my house, promised to send a proposal and never did so . Few hours later, 2 huge cooling units (more then efficient) were delievered and installed to help us cool until the missing part was promised to be installed in 36 hours (weekend). I had a problem with a different company, and a problem I could not resolve for 6 weeks was suddenly almost complete. was helped by a similar sounding company in a separate state. We forget life before corporations owning so many others, without any pride of product/ownership. Well, Modern Mechanical Heating is an oldie- a reminder of what companies used to be. I needed a complete new Trane unit and I called them based on the number of google reviews I saw and someone that specialized in Trane equipment. I can attest....that their 4.9 is a well earned google average and should be a 5.0. They gave me a very competitive bid. On the day of the install they came in and installed my unit and addressed all the issues they needed to so that when the Town of Cary came for the HVAC inspection it would go well. Those techs installed the unit and then another guy came by and fine tuned the unit to make sure all the heating/cooling stages worked and all the benefits of my new unit were functioning right. The lCapacitor on My AC unut was repaired by Bubba from Modern Mechanical at 10:00 a.m. and it worked fine until around 1100 p.m. then my unit started making a loud noise as before and stopped working. I reported the new issue that night and Modern Mechanical responded early the next morni g and repaired the issu8e with a smile, corrected the problem. Not very often but I called modern mechanical at 11:00 in the morning and they were here by 2:00 on time just as they said they would be !!! To begin with, I have to say that Modern Mechanical was / is the best HVAC company I have ever dealt with!! From the moment I placed a call and spoke to Laura M. to the end when I saw Dean and Joe leave my house, the whole experience was very pleasant and educational. Laura set up an appointment for Joe to come out and give me an estimate of a complete new HVAC and AC unit. Joe was prompt and was very well prepared. He spent the time to go around the whole house and taking measurements. He then took his time and came back with the results of his calculations. I was so impressed with his professionalism, politeness and mannerism. He explained in detail everything and what my options were. Very impressed. No pressure tactics, just the facts. Joe was the only individual of 4 different companies I interviewed, that actually did a workup on what size systems would work for my house. I called back to Laura a few days later and said I need to talk to Joe because I have more questions. She said Joe was out of town, and would patch me to Jason . I had no idea at that moment that Jason L was Joe's boss and the manager. Jason was polite and answered my questions, and made me feel very comfortable with the final decisions I made for selecting the new system for my home. Jason said I could call him anytime if I had anymore questions. I was very happy when I hung up the phone with him. Joe came back out a few days later and finalized the deal, and set up what day the install would be. On the day of install, an armada of Modern Mechanical trucks showed up as promised at 8:30 AM. Four install technicians showed up led by Scott and Alan. I was totally impressed with their professionalism and politeness. They were clean and made sure my home was kept clean throughout the process. I can not say enough about their work ethic, other than to say they were exceptional. They worked non stop till 7:30 at night. All the technicians answered my questions along the way with politeness and understanding. Their goal was to keep me happy. The company's electrician came and told me what he will be doing and allowed me to watch. Dean ( the field supervisor ) came during the day to check on his crew, and answered more of my questions. He was very pleasant. Later in the day Justin came by to do the start up and make sure everything was working according to specs. I was very impressed with Justin's knowledge and patience in explaining what he was doing and answering my questions. Even though it was late in the evening, Justin said he would stay as long as he had to, to make sure I was happy with his answers to all my questions to my satisfaction. I called Jason the next day to ask about if adjustments can be made to the air cleaners installed with the unit. He responded promptly and said he would have Dean come out and see what can be done. Dean brought Joe out with him, and spent a couple of hours adjusting the air cleaners. Both Dean and Joe were very polite and did the work with professionalism. When they left, I was extremely happy and satisfied with my new system. In the end, I am extremely happy with Modern Mechanical and the way they presented themselves from top to bottom. I have an issue with my A/C condensation pump line. It’s a challenge due to the location of the line. Working along with my handyman (Don Braunstein), the technician from Moderne Mechanical, Bubba, tried several options, at first with no positive results. Then they got creative and Don and Bubba from Modern Mechanical were amazing. AC is now working. Line has been flushed. There’s a chance that this option will not work long term but the alternative was thousands of dollars to tear up my ceiling drywall to follow the line all the way from the back of the house to the HVAC location in the garage. They also have provided an interim solution idea if the current solution does not work and we have to cut the path from the back of the house to the HVAC using. I highly recommend Modern Mechanical and buying a maintenance plan. The value the maintenance plan has brought is huge. Quicker service (prioritized before non-maintenance clients), proactive maintenance, and the diagnostics are included at no charge. The technicians are professional, courteous and great to work with. The manager, Joe, who came out yesterday to survey the issues and if needed, quote a new AC unit was fantastic, gave me his card, texted with me so we could coordinate with my drywall person. They were also in contact with the company owner as this is a complicated situation. I can’t say enough about how much I value the work, people, and professionalism of Modern Mechanical. The company, Modern Mechanical, backs their customers and trains staff with precision. We also hire the electrician, Todd. Excellant workmanship, ensured work was updated to code and he checks everything. Lightening damage to home was all corrected. He replaced interior/exterior outlets, updated fan controls and installed a whole house surge protector. SUPERB!!! Todd will be our "Go To Electrician." We saved money on parts and labor by purchasing yearly contracts. Its woryh it! Thank you Modern Mechanical, 10 stars for and outstanding company who knows their product and their people. 2019 review We called several HVAC companies and never got a real solution until Modern Mechanical. In fact, all of the companies suggested replacing the existing 4-ton unit with a new one. Modern Mechanical was the only company that asked what are problems were and then went through the entire home to measure each room for proper air flow and air quality. They explained why we needed a "split system" to resolve cooling and humidity problems in the summers. They showed us a diagram of how the new system would be installed and what type of HVAC equipment was required. They replaced all of the old air ducts under the house, sealed the system and were careful not to ruin our vapor barrier. Each team was very professional with experienced, well-trained HVAC installers. From the beginning, they respected our request to install the split system without any damage or unnecessary screws in the logs! They also located color coordinated capping for HVAC lines to match the home. They provided solutions to "all of our concerns and came through with everything we requested." To top it off, they made sure the split system could do the job for a cost efficient price. We stay cool and comfortable now! Customer service is fast and staff is courteous. Their HVAC warranties are solid, the TRANE units installed are very efficient. The maintenance plan on the 3 pieces that now cool and heat the entire home is a little less than what we were paying for the old one unit HVAC. We highly recommend this company to home owners that want things done right the first time. This company stands apart from everyone else. They know what they are doing and they care. Matt, John and Eric? (I'm sorry I've forgotten the 3rd name), removed and installed the units in about half a day. The technicians came out to the house and troubleshot an issue with my HVAC unit. They called before coming out to make sure i was going to be their and show up not long after they had called. The technician was very professional and had asked what the issue i was having. I explained it to him and he went right to work finding the problem. It was not 20 minutes later and he had found the issue. This happened on a Friday and the parts were not able to come in until Monday. Which is fine but assured me that once the parts came in they would be here to fix it. I have complete faith that they will be here as soon as the parts get here. I’ve used modern mechanical for nearly 8 years, I finally had an issue with a lennox unit that was installed before they took over the semi-annual service, service tech found the leak in coil, attempt to get parts from supplier, and when we found additional issue with the unit, it was cost effect to replace the unit versus piece meal repairing it. I had a previous replacement done by another company, they never report the “interesting” duct work done by the original installers (which likely to have cause the premature failure of my replacement unit). If i could i would upload the picture of the previous work compared to new work. Clean, fair price, and if you have any issue they will resolve it quickly. I’d highly recommend them for HVAC and all your electric needs as well.

My wife and I have had an ongoing problem with our Trane heat pump. Several attempts to identify and fix the problem by other companies were costly and unsuccessful. We were concerned that we would have to replace the entire heat pump. We met Modern Mechanical at the Raleigh Home Show in March, and Andy, the owner, and Jason, the manager, discussed our problem and recommended that their service team investigate the issue BEFORE considering a replacement unit. An experienced technician, Charles Tew, arrived and diagnosed the problem as a part that could be replaced at a fraction of the cost of a new unit! In a week, our concerns were completely resolved. They arrived when they said they would, the price for the part and installation was as agreed, and we couldn't be happier with the result. Modern Mechanical is a very ethical company, and I have come to trust them with my HVAC needs. We originally contacted them after the "big guys" told us that we needed to replace our HVAC system about 6 or 7 years ago, we were also told that we had a refrigerant leak. We wanted a second opinion and called Modern Mechanical to come out and look over our system. They said that there was noting wrong with our system at that point and there was no leak. From that point forward we hired MM to do our twice a year service maintenance. when we were told this year that we would need to replace our system, we knew that we could trust MM and contacted them to get t quote on the replacement. Modern Mechanical is outstanding! From the service, to the expertise, to the people, everything about Modern is top-notch. We recently decided to upgrade / replace the original-to-the-home A/C and furnace. In addition, we needed to adequately cool and heat a 3rd floor that had not been cooled or heated with the original unit. And, due to building short-cuts and code violations from the previous homeowners, any work done on our home is infinitely more complicated and expensive than it should be. Initially, Joe from Modern conducted a VERY thorough heat and load calculation and diagnosis to provide an accurate estimate. He left no part of the home untouched and recommended we install new returns and registers to more effectively heat and cool the home. He recommended new duct work due to dirt, mold and a raccoon that damaged some of it. Joe patiently explained the rationale for all of the work. My husband referred to Joe as the "Yoda of HVAC". Joe provided an estimate on the same day that he did the assessment. When we decided to proceed with the work, Modern guided me through the process for financing and scheduled the work within a week. The crews showed up early and worked all day long. They were incredibly courteous and personable, knowledgeable and skilled, incredibly respectful, and if you're going to spend the day with a crew, it should be these guys. By the end of the day, we had a working HVAC system for floors 1/2. And a technician from Modern booted up the system, tested it and made sure it was in good working order before heading out for the night. We could tell a difference immediately. I can't say enough good things about our experience with Modern. I HIGHLY recommend them for your HVAC needs. We've been customers of Modern Mechanic for years and we will be for as many years as we own a home.

One of our two heaters spit up last fall. We called around and the Modern Mechanical folks sounded the most reasonable and were able to get to us quickly. The guy showed up and got us up and running in about an hour. We were quite pleased as you might imagine. Pleased enough that we signed up for a service contract to keep the system running well over the next year. That's plenty good enough but it gets better... Our 2 AC's hadn't worked for a couple years. Both systems leaked refrigerant like a seive (empty in a day!). We had other companies out to refill and they were quoting $500-ish per unit just to diagnose the problem so we muddled through with several window units until we could scrape up the cash to replace both systems (which is what we were told needed to happen). We mentioned this to our service guy Paul H and he offered to see what he could do. The upshot of the story is that after their very reasonable diagnosis, we got new lines and other parts installed for much less than half of what one of the two new systems would have cost. The cool air in the house is nothing short of glorious. We could NOT be more pleased!! A special mention of our guy Paul H is in order. He went out of his way to check things thoroughly and inform us of what was happening, why it was happening and what options there are (were) to fix it. He's competent, professional and personable. He's been here enough over the last few months that we consider him a family friend. Same goes for the ladies in the office who always call to remind me of appointments or to let me know Paul is on his way. Working with Modern Mechanical has been a great thing for my family. Sign up for their service contract and you won't be whining on Yelp about how you had to wait for the HVAC guy in the middle of the summer - it would already have been made right. I called them on a Sunday when it was 98° figuring I wouldn't see anyone until Wednesday or Thursday but to my surprise and relief they had someone here Monday morning! The problem turned out to be a bad evaporator coil that had to be ordered. Once again I figured it would be a long process but they called me later that day and said the part would be in on Wednesday and they would come replace it. Ok I read a few of the negative reviews and quite frankly cannot understand. We initiated contact through Lowes and they quoted on a replacement furnace. We set a date, it was raining that day, and they arrived on time installed the unit by the end of the day and communicated during the process. After completing they review documents, and left copies for our records. We had a follow up call to ask how the install was done. About two weeks after the install the Thermostat did not perform. I called and they came out two days later and installed a new thermostat. I then had issues with logging into the Nexia system to control the thermostat remotely. A representative stopped on his way home in the evening and spent an hour fixing the issue. Jason did a great job. Service could not be any better than this experience.

My wife and I recently decided that it was time to upgrade/replace our aging HVAC systems. We shopped various companies at the Raleigh home show and obtained estimates. We chose to contract with Modern Mechanical as a result of Jason L. coming out to do a full assessment of our heating/cooling needs upon which he came back to us with a very comprehensive, clearly laid out and professional proposal. We decided to replace all our systems: a 4-ton unit for upstairs, a 3-Ton unit for downstairs (with all new duct work) and a new Split system for our all season room addition. All the work was done exactly as agreed & scheduled, by a very professional crew who were very courteous and constantly cleaned up as the work progressed. At the end of the second day, we had all three systems completely installed and working perfectly. The new Trane systems are extremely quiet and it was reassuring to know that Jason was in regular communication with his crew on the progress of the job right through our complete satisfaction and final customer acceptance sign-off. Modern Mechanical is fabulous. They did a fantastic job for me. They assessed my problems from a poorly installed and improperly sized HVAC system that was put in last year by another company. They worked with me in understanding what the problems were and what the correct - not cheapest- solution was. I ended up putting in a new Trane and couldn't be happier. My situation was a difficult one because of permit issues related to the other system but they worked thru the issues with me and everything is working great, Having had such a horrendous experience with my last HVAC company I asked for referrals from our neighborhood networking site. I then checked out what people had to say about them on the various review sites and BBB. I spoke to 2 other companies in addition to Modern Mechanical but ONLY Modern Mechanical took the time to do all of the necessary assessment of the problems of the existing system, do all of the evaluations of what the proper system should be and took the time to explain to me what was wrong and what was needed to make things right.

I cannot say enough good about this company and their team. When I called about having no air yesterday mid-afternoon, we were put on the schedule for a tech to come out later that day. Melvin showed up at about 6:30 and was here for 3 hours diagnosing the problem. He did everything he could, said a supervisor tech would call the next day and left the system cooling. But the system still failed again later that night. This problem originally showed up last Spring when we were under contract with the company who had installed the system. True to their word, this morning Charles Tew called and arrived about 30 minutes later. After about an hour, he had diagnosed and fixed the problem which, by the way, had been created by shoddy work and failed attempts to correct it by the other HVAC company. Thank you so much for the prompt, courteous and skilled attention to our issue.

I've been dealing with this company since 2012 when my hvac for the 1st floor was on it's last legs 😤. The technician then was able to get me another 2 years out of that unit. They gave me a reasonable quote twice for a replacement and their service techs are very respectful and focused. I know this is long but please read to the end! What a company!!! I researched many HVAC companies in the Garner/Raleigh/Clayton area as I am on a budget. My home was build in 1966 and the duct work was old as well and needed to be replaced. They send Scott out to my home to give me an estimate. He gave me 3 options to choose from. I continued to get estimates from other companies. I got a total of 5 estimates from companies in my area, Modern Mechanical was at the middle/lower of those in price. Something made me call Scott back a couple of months after the estimate was given. It was the professionalism and the calculations that he did so that my home would be evenly cooled and heated. He was so thorough and I never felt rushed or felt like the time I took for research (my being indecisive) was any issue at all. Then a couple of months after I called him to tell him that I hadn't decided but was still thinking about becoming one of their customers, I asked if he could give me an estimate for a heat pump so I could get the big gas tank gone from my backyard. NO PROBLEM!! He was just as forthcoming and friendly the second time. Again, I never felt rushed. I could ask anything and I did have many questions! This was a big purchase! Something always made me come back to Modern Mechanical and now I know why! It wasn't just the professionalism and knowledge of everything related to heating and air (which in itself would have been enough) it was also because this company touched my life! On October 20th they came, 2 crews to finish the job before the weekend, and started. I was in the kitchen cooking because my son was coming home for lunch when I felt a weird sensation in my head. I knew I was in trouble when it got really bad and I wasn't sure that I could go through the steps on my cell phone (security code etc.) when my next thought was "There are people outside" as I was walking down a small hallway out the front door. Everyone was under, on the side of, and behind my house except for one worker ( I wish I could remember his name) who was on my driveway looking right at me. I called out to him to call 911 and saw him hurrying toward me as I collapsed. I heard him yelling to the others to call 911. The ambulance picked me up and took me to the hospital. I had a brain aneurysm which hemorrhaged. I had surgery that same day and only by the Grace of God and the angels he sent to me that day, am I well today. Especially one of them, which God put right on my driveway facing my front door. God is great!!! At my house, the work continued and they completed the job the next day. It was the same day that I remembered that Modern Mechanical was supposed to be paid upon completion. I asked my son to get in touch with the company to see how we take care of that now that I was in the hospital. They assured him that this could wait until I was better. When I felt better the following week I got in touch with Scott (he was the one that gave me the estimate) who assured me to focus on getting well before I worried about the payment. I can't tell you how that made me feel. Maybe I can. Blessed again!!! After I got home from the hospital, my house felt awesome. I didn't have central heating and air through 2 summers and one winter. Every room felt/feels the same. My heating and air is perfect! They have done such an amazing job all the way around! I am another happy customer of Modern Mechanical! After being home for a few days, when I thought they (Modern Mechanical) couldn't get any better, came a surprise. A plant was delivered with Get-Well and Happy Holiday wishes. Can you believe it? I should have treated them and instead they sent me a beautiful Azalea and such kind and thoughtful words! God knows what he was doing when he nudged me toward Modern Mechanical! Modern Mechanical, the company for your heating and air and THE COMPANY WITH THE BIGGEST HEART!
