Our boiler failed on a Thursday evening. We called the next day and Homestead was here in the afternoon to evaluate the situation. It was determined that we needed a new boiler. Homestead personnel walked us through the process to get a new boiler and get it installed in a timely manner. Homestead personnel were neat, courteous, efficient and helpful. I had a three head ductless Mitsubishi A/C system installed last month. I am pleased with the units so far. However, upon close inspection after they were done, there was little to no insulation installed in the 3-4 inch holes drilled through the outside and interior walls. Their field supervisor came and inspected the lack of insulation this week. He was, "really perturbed" with the work and went to Home Depot to buy silicone and spray foam insulation to fill all of the holes. The town inspector (who came the same day as the field supervisor) was not pleased either and commented, "you buy a high efficiency heat pump and will end up paying more for heat because they didn't insulate". The installers also did not bolt down the compressor which the field supervisor said was not code compliant for the town. He bolted it down. The have all been very nice throughout the process and hopefully will remain so as we proceed with the maintenance and service in the future. Follow up, 11/11/22: I had my first Buderus boiler service with Homestead recently. The service tech was very thorough and did a very good job.

When the West Hartford inspector came, she asked who had done the work and said, "Nice job." My niece and nephew-in-law also had a similar response from their inspector. I have been a customer for almost 23 years now and they have been the only ones to maintain and service my oil heater which I've had no issues throughout this time. Also, they have been the only ones to provide my home with heating oil with automatic fill. I never have to worry about running out of heating oil. We used the online feature for callback at night and received a call the next morning. We had an appointment set same day and the technician arrived on time. He immediately found the problem with our wiring that another company had charged me $400 to do and had done incorrectly. We had our heat working within an hour and he also took care of a faulty valve and bled the system. 10/10 would recommend to anyone. Very professional, got the job done right, and on time.

They replaced out furnance last month in November. They did an awesome job, 2 days to complete. They were professional and efficient. They explained everything they did and labeled all the components including the new water heater with tags. Tech came out the same day I called, which was a Friday before a holiday weekend. Much better service than I expected. However, it took 4 and 1/2 weeks before my ductless system was fixed, which considering the system is only a year old, I expected better. I understand there are staffing issues, supply chain issues, etc., but I am not sure those were the sole reasons it took so long to repair. Communication did improve significantly after the first 2 weeks went by with no success in getting parts.

We contacted Homestead once it was confirmed that we needed to repair/replace our water heater due to gas leakage. Once we explained our situation they were very responsive and gave us a quote and scheduled an appointment for us right away. On the day of the appointment, their personnel arrived on time, they were also professional and explained to us all they were doing. They also cleaned up after they completed the work. Plus, the company gave us 10% off the bill through a flyer they mailed to our home. I highly recommend Homestead services to any homeowner! I have used Homestead for a number of years. They recently converted hot water oil over to natural gas and a year later just had them put in Ductless mini splits. I also use them to insulate my basement ceiling as part of an energy audit program. In all cases they were very professional, on time, and when there was an issue they were extremely responsive. I would highly recommend them. Their prices were competitive, and their sales person was informative and not pushy. They had a schedule delay in installing my ductless air conditioning system, and loaned me a window air conditioner to bridge the two week gap including putting it in and taking it out! What more could you ask for. You won’t go wrong with these guys :-)

They are definitely reliable and always do good work! However, this time, I admit I was miffed at having to pay for two service calls, when only the second one solved the problem. Similar situation happened with the regular maintenance, so I am a bit confused about their billing structure: Sometimes they charge an hourly rate, but oftentimes they charge a flat rate, which is usually much higher than hourly. Perhaps I'm confused, but it would seem that they should always charge straight hourly. Still, they do good work, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Had a new thermostat installed that allows me to check the temperature inside and outside of my house regardless of where I am using an app. on my phone. I also had them install a new oil tank gauge that allows me to check how much oil is in my tank, daily use and keeps track of how many days till level reaches 1/2, 1/4 and 1/8 of tank capacity, also a phone app. I also had the piping around my hot water boiler and water heater replaced after their service technician noticed and brought to my attention a number of fittings that if left unattended were going to cause major problems and possibly a flooded basement. Definitely a top notch company to do business with and a great group of very knowledgeable and professional service technicians. # 1 in my book.

We started to experience issues with our baseboard heating system on the weekend. Homestead responded very quickly and attempted to help us over the phone to avoid the need to pay an emergency service fee. When we couldn't work around it via a phone conversation, they came out after 9:00 PM on a Saturday and were highly professional and efficient. Once the core problem had been determined, they were able to get us up and running and scheduled a follow-up for the following Monday. When they returned for the follow-up, they were able to further diagnose the issue and recommend not only the appropriate remediation, but also to help us avoid the issue going forward. We signed up for a home energy audit. Homestead Energy Solutions responded to our request promptly. They sent Spencer and Garret out to perform the service. Spencer explained how they would perform the audit, very professionally. Both Spencer and Garret did an extremely good job. They started out performing an air leak test, then installed weather stripping and sealing cracks. After they finished sealing air leaks, they performed another air leak test, that dramatically reduced the home’s heat loss . The home energy audit was extremely beneficial to me. I recently decided to have a home energy audit done as I was in the process of having my siding and windows replaced. Homestead sent out 2 of their employees for the audit. Both techs were very knowledgeable and professional. Once the audit was done, I set up a date for them to come out and complete an insulation installation as recommended by the audit. Working with Homestead was one of the best experiences I had with a contractor. Before the work began, I had a question so I had called the office. I spoke to Jeff and said he would stop by and take a look. Come to find out, Jeff is the President of the company and came on site to take a look and answer my questions. When it came time to have my whole house insulated (blown in insulation in the walls, blown in insulation in the attic, bat insulation in the basement) the techs showed up as scheduled. Very neat, professional and a pleasure to have at my home. Each time they came inside they wore boot covers, they answered any and all questions we had, even made a couple small recommendations on a couple items that needed to be addressed. When it came down to billing, they could not have made it any easier. We were eligible to receive rebates through Eversource. Homestead took care of all the paper work and rebates. We only had to pay the net price after rebates. Another company we called required we pay the whole bill up front then figure out the rebate paperwork on our own. I would highly recommend Homestead for any services they provide. They run a top notch operation with amazing customer service and a president who goes above and beyond.

Technician was able to come over quickly and resolved the issue with my central system. The ductless split system problem was not resolved at that time due to obsolescence of the unit. I was able to get it working again by recycling the breaker and inside control (miracle?).

I have to say these guys really helped me out. They gave me a much lower quote for installing a tiger loop than competitors, and when our heat went down yet again the very next day (due to still needing the loop), they were able to fit us in that same afternoon. They even updated our oil tank to a more modern version that is less likely to suck in air for very little additional cost. We will definitely be giving them a call next time we need anything HVAC.

Too many times people only take the time to post negative things about companies and few post positive. I am installing a solar panels on my home and a requirement was to have an energy audit. Homestead Comfort performed that audit for us. At first I was very skeptical about someone coming coming into our home going through each room, but the technicians Spencer and Mike made the process very stress free and easy. We had to replace our furnace, AC, and have our ducts improved quite a bit. We chose to go with Homestead after meeting with Andrew and he was great to work with figuring out what needed to be done as well as assisting in figuring out financing. When it comes to the work being done, Homestead did a great job since the previous system was 30 years old and the vents (especially the returns) were very inefficient. The Homestead team was prompt and very open on how things were going. Any mistakes or adjustments needed throughout the project were resolved or consulted on with me before proceeding. Now that the job is finished everything looks fantastic and, even though it has only been a couple weeks, we can definitely tell a difference using both the heating and cooling systems! Definitely happy with the work and would recommend Homestead to anyone looking for an upgrade/replacement for their home heating/cooling systems!

My 30+ year old Central A/C finally died. I received prompt estimate from Homestead and installation was done professionally and the new system works better than the old one ever did. Installers were very courteous and answered any questions I had and explained the operation of the system clearly. I had Homestead install a new well pump last year and they did a great job with that installation as well.

Our 60 year old house doesn’t have ducts or vents, and after a few years of suffering through hot summers, we had enough. We called for 4 quotes, and only received 2. Homestead has a reputation for being pricey, but of the 4 quotes (actual quotes and verbal estimates), Homestead did actually come out the cheapest. I was impressed that Jesse was trying to sell us the right solution. At first we were pushing for central air with ducts installed, but he explained the differences in efficiency and price and recommended a 2 head ductless system. We signed later that day and 10 days later, we had a working system. Within 20 minutes our 85 degree living room was 77. I wish we made this investment sooner. Installation: it was a one day job. Most of the day there were 2 installers here, with an electrician that came later. Everyone was professional and courteous, and they cleaned everything up after themselves. While Homestead didn’t spend the most time here (but certainly didn’t spend the least, either) there was no pressure to go one way or the other, he looked everything over, answered every question we had, and found solutions to make it work. The only minor complaint I had was that no one reached out for an install date, when I called to ask it turns out it was scheduled for later that week. Not a huge deal since we work from home, so it was a minor oversight that was a non-issue.

Around 1AM on New Years Eve day our dog alerted us to a smell of hot electric motor coming through the heater vents. While my husband tried to isolate the problem (a failing furnace blower motor) I frantically called almost every HVAC company in the area. The temperature outside was -2 with the wind chill and our 150 year old home had already dropped to 56 degrees. Despite speaking to 7 different answering services, Homestead’s on-call technician not only returned our call within minutes, but was the only company to call us back. In addition, Homestead’s technician, Matt Minor, agreed to come and assess the problem immediately, even though it was 3:30AM and no one was sure it could ultimately be repaired the same day. Matt replaced the capacitor and magically heat returned. However, as he was walking out the door, the motor seized. Rather than tell us, “See you in a few days...I tried…”, he not only attempted to use the “rescue” motor he had in the truck, but he drove all the way back to the shop to get a brand-new one of the correct voltage. Matt was even willing to bring back heaters if he couldn’t repair the motor immediately. Despite almost 4 hours of work in the middle of the night, Matt persisted and by 8AM the furnace was working and heat had returned! My husband and I were TREMENDOUSLY impressed with Matt! To think we received this service and weren’t previously Homestead customers. It is safe to say we will be Homestead customers for life! Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Matt and Homestead went above and beyond!
