Repair toilet that was leaking/running. Bret did a good job and was very personable. He was on time, very professional, knew what he was doing, cleaned up, and willing to explain what he was doing. From a pricing standpoint, there may need to be an adjustment in how this is priced out. This was a simple job and should have been by the hour or comparable to an hourly rate (+ some buffer for a fixed price, totally get that). I compared it with another plumbing company based on their rates (A large well known company in GR) and for the same amount of time + travel, this job was about $200 more. Everything else was done very well.

Primary reason for service was to diagnose why the geo-thermal heating was on Auxiliary strip heaters. Subsequent to the call for service from Blakeslee, the well pump controls failed. When Blakeslee service repairman arrived he diagnosed the root cause, reprogrammed the thermostat so when the pump controls and the pump were serviced by a plumber, we could establish proper heating with the Aux heater backup available. The plumber was called and he replaced the faulted pump controls and checked the well pump for proper operation. Blakeslee is sending a service rep out on 2/15/2021 to check the system for proper operation and adjust parameters as necessary. We are very satisfied with the timely response and excellent service provided by all parties responding.

I called Blakeslee & Son on Monday. A technician was scheduled to come out the next day. They could’ve done same day however my schedule didn’t allow for that. Kolt called prior to arrival and showed up on time. He looked over our water heater and determined it needed to be replaced. Was able to give me pricing and had it replaced in 2 hours. I love this company. I recently moved to Rockford and needed a company to help me with my new home. I want to start by saying that they have an excellent program for air conditioning and furnace maintenance. It’s a really good deal as is but if you sign up it also gets you additional discounts for other services. The first time they came was for a smart thermostat installation. They did it quickly and professionally. Taught me how to use it and answered all my questions without rushing even though it was late in the day. I brought a water softener from my previous house and wanted them to see if they could install it. Before we even set up an appointment for the installation they came and explained how the water softening process works and showed me the different components of my water softener (they again took their time to explain things to me even though they had not made any money on this yet). They said that they could tell my water softener was from a “big box store” and that they only sell professional water softeners. Despite this, they didn’t try a sales pitch to sell me their specific water softeners...they were honest and said that my machine would work just fine based on the water analysis they had previously done at my house (which was totally free by the way). Again, the installation was done expeditiously and afterward they explained how to bypass the water softener in case something went wrong with the unit. My dad is a plumber who lives out of state and I showed him a video of the work. He said it was of excellent quality. I could go on and on. They are professional and know what they are doing. They communicate well via email and phone. They are always on time. They always wear a mask and shoe coverings. They have done a number of additional things at my house including installing a whole house HEPA filtration system and created a new connection for my water hose spigot. They are excellent at both HVAC and plumbing. I highly recommend them!!

Blakeslee & Son installed a new water heater, new water softner and filter, replaced the well pressure tank, and fixed several plumbing pipes due to aging. I never thought I'd say that going through all that would be enjoyable, but it was! After watching home shows like 'Holmes on Homes' for years, and with this being our first home, we were a bit nervous about contractors and wanted to make sure that we were 'informed homeowners' so we asked lots of questions. Throughout the process, Blakeslee & Son, and especially Andrew, were wonderful. Every question was completely answered professionally with obvious knowledge,experience, and honesty. (If they didn't know, they would find out and get back to us. If a price seemed high, they explained why it was that way.) During the visit for the estimate, Andrew fully explained our options, what his recommendations would be and why. During installation he again explained what was being done, showed us how the systems worked and should be maintained, labeled everything, and answered every nit-picky question I could think of. The work was done in a completely professional manner, and Andrew followed up a week later to ensure that everything was completed to our satisfaction. Andrew seems to be one of those rare people who is both very proficient in his trade and can communicate well with homeowners so it became both a well-done upgrade and a learning process for us. We will not hesitate to contact Blakeslee & Son for any future work we might need done.

We were not home when the technician was there but he called us before to let us know he was on his way and he called us after to let us know he was finished. We had used Blakeslee and Son before to install a whole house humidifier and were very pleased with the installer and the job. We called them again when we found water leaking from under the base of a toilet on our second floor. Their representative, Andrew, was not only a very pleasant guest in our house he was also an excellent and knowledgeable service person. I don't normally post reviews, but I noticed the other Google review for Blakeslee was negative. This was the polar opposite of my experience, so I felt compelled to share. I had larger heating and AC company do a tune up on my furnace. They quoted a few repairs to me. After calling Blakeslee their repair rate was less, but come to find out the other company quoted work that was not needed. While everyone's experience may vary depending on the individual technician doing the assessment, I find Blakeslee to be more trustworthy than the larger companies and I will continue to keep my business local.
