Guardian provided exceptional service throughout our work with them. We moved into a new condo during one of hottest weeks of summer. We found out that our newly installed thermostat did not work and called Guardian to help troubleshoot. They were out the next day and immediately noticed that our entire system was obsolete. He called his team and someone was out that afternoon to assess the system for a new installation. While we waited for the installation team, Guardian even delivered a portable unit to keep us cool. It was above and beyond service.The team was out within a week to fully replace our furnace and AC. They were also dealing with a difficult closet install and were able to find a great solution while creating minimal additional damage. One of the team members was even able to recommend an outstanding contractor to help repair the walls after installation. After the install, they came out a couple of days later to redo the filter to provide optimal performance. Lastly, they helped us navigate financing in a very professional way. They paid attention to every detail and were absolutely great to work with. Our AC system has been on since and made life so much more comfortable. We were lucky to work with Tyler, Allen, Rory, and his crew for the entire process. We highly recommend Guardian if you are in need of heating & cooling support.

I have the protection plan for my boiler and part of that is an annual regular preventive maintenance service check. Fortunately, a staff member, Meghan, contacted me to renew my plan subscription and schedule an appointment. Service technician Nelson, along with trainee Ray, were assigned to my home. They both were professional and courteous. The PM check was thorough and efficient. They answered my questions and confirmed my system was working properly. I appreciate their professionalism and work ethic. I would request either of them for future service calls to my home. Overall, I'm pleased with Guardian Heating and would recommend their service.

We called Guardian when our AC went out. We bought our house last year and it is very old, the AC units were older than me! Jasper came over the next day and did a thorough inspection and outlined what we would need done. He was very kind and professional. They had a cancellation and were able to come the next day. We needed 2 AC Units and a new furnace, as well as duct work and new thermostats. Rory, Eric, and Jonathan (I may be misremembering that last name) came to complete our project. We have 3 pets and were both working from home. They were AWESOME. Very kind, respectful of our pets and our home, and respectful of the fact that we were both working. They explained everything to us, answered all of our questions, and did a great job. The GM and owner even came by at the end of the second day (it was a 2 day project) to make sure everything was completed properly. Jasper kept in touch throughout the project and made sure we had all of our questions answered. Our house is so much more comfortable now and I’m so glad we went with Guardian! This summer we had Guardian install a Unico AC system in our almost 100-year-old bungalow. Yes, it was expensive, but not only do we believe it was a good investment, now we can’t imagine how we lived without it for so long. The first person we met from Guardian was Jasper, who came out to give us an estimate. Another vendor rep who came out took a quick look around before giving an estimate, but Jasper took his time to get a feel for the layout of our old house and to calculate how a system might work best, while also listening to our needs and concerns. This got us off to a good start. Once we signed the agreement, the installation process got started within a couple of weeks. While labor shortages are impacting every other business, Guardian sent a full crew out every day that included seasoned senior professionals who not only managed the crew but also did a lot of the work. We want to call out specifically Steve and Enrique. Steve was the main supervisor throughout the installation and did a phenomenal job - from working his Paul Bunyan frame into the super tight spaces in our attic to managing team changes to talking issues through with us and coming up with brilliant solutions. Enrique brought incredible care and attention to detail to all the work he did. Unfortunately he fell ill early on in the process but he did return at the end and continued to show the same care spending extra hours to make sure the system was ready to be turned on and functioning properly. In terms of the results, the system is working perfectly on our first floor. Initially the upstairs attic/loft was still a little warmer than the main floor. John from Guardian came out and was prepared to add more vents and go however many extra miles it took. We are so impressed with Guardian’s commitment to quality and service. We really appreciate that this is a company that doesn’t walk away after they make the sale.

Guardian really took care of us. We have a rooftop unit which requires a long ladder for access. Guardian was the only company with the properly-equipped trucks to take care of us! I have been a very happy customer of Guardian for years, after having difficult service with larger companies where the technicians circle in and out. What I appreciate the most from the Guardian team is how much they genuinely care about ensuring that we feel safe and secure in our home, as well as educated about our systems so we can ensure preventative maintenance. Today, I had an emergency with a gas leak. Within hours, Nelson was at our home, diagnosing the problem and ensuring resolution. He made sure that the system was running properly rather than just doing a quick fix and running out the door. He helped me feel reassured with the resolution. Guardian called a day or so after I emailed a request and scheduled an appointment for the same day to have the A/C components of our HVAC looked at. Nelson R listened to what was wasn't working then looked over the unit and whole system and diagnosed the problem. He walked me through what wasn't working and explained the possible solutions, he was very professional and knowledgeable and quickly replaced the part that had stopped working. We also discussed maintenance options and he sent quotes so I could look over possible preventive options. I would recommend.

Guardian has been so good to us that I've now used them for multiple things: new A/C, new water heater, and a monthly cleaning contract that I'm very happy with. They walked us through everything so it was all very clear, and helped us select systems that were right for our needs (and not just the most expensive product on the market for the upsell). When problems arose after they left because of bad wiring the previous owners installed, Guardian came back FREE OF CHARGE and fixed the wiring issues so the system would work. Had a great experience with both of the crew members we dealt with. Our A/C stopped working and after calling a few companies who said they couldn't make it out for several days, Guardian said they could be here the very next morning. Unfortunately our lines were frozen over and they had to let them thaw before servicing, so we had another crew member come out the following day. Both workers were extremely friendly, talkative, and courteous and took the time to thoroughly explain everything so we understood what the problem was, and the best way to keep our system working efficiently. Just want to send a Big Thank you to the team at GH&C for the awesome job they did at removing/replacing one of our old HVAC systems with a brand new system which includes a heat pump. Every technician that has ever came to service was courteous, professional, and honest. Just recently had a weird odor coming from the HVAC system, the tech-Nelson, checked the entire system and reported that the odor was coming from the floor drain and not the HVAC, and also recommended a plumber to help with the problem.

Update: December 2022. I called because my furnace is out. Coldest day of the year. I was told that they are only servicing "members". I am a returning customer and was never even told about the membership program. Guess I'll freeze. Summer 2022: I took off one star because: the answering service didn't relay my first message and I had to call back 5 hours later. I was also not informed of the pricing before the visit, and they charge $199 an hour even if they stay 15 minutes. It should be prorated. Other than that, service was courteous and professional. I just had a great service call on my boiler with Tyler from Guardian Heating. He was extremely thorough and professional, and he took extra time to answer my questions about my system and the possible addition of a smart thermostat. I’m happy to be with such a responsive and caring company after having some unpleasant experiences with a previous heating maintenance company. I contacted Guardian a year ago for a second opinion (based on a referral from another satisfied customer), and ultimately I needed a whole new boiler system and rerouting of some of the piping. They had the new equipment installed within a couple days of the diagnosis, and the installation techs and Jasper, my sales advisor, were wonderful every step of the way. I look forward to working with Guardian for many years to come!

I called a few places, and thanks to a recommendation from a neighbor in the building, I gave them a call and they were able to get me on schedule in three days as opposed to 3 weeks. Recently purchased a home, unfortunately immediately had some undisclosed issues with the HVAC not running consistently. Had a sifferent company out, they said I needed to replace the circuit board at a minimum, recommended we just do the whole system. Got a free second opinion from Guardian; Sergio the technician arrived punctually to my home and diagnosed that a wire on the circuit board and my thermostat was unplugged for some unknown reason. Fixed my issue in 10 minutes, saved me potentially hundreds to thousands of dollars. Sergio took the time to explain to me what he saw and how he fixed it. Could not have asked for better service. Will definitely be using Guardian for my future HVAC service.

I was having issue with my aging HVAC not cooling properly, so I gave Guardian a call after seeing their great reviews. They were able to send a tech on my next available date. The tech (his name escapes me) was very professional, gave me a heads up call to let me know he was on the way, and was on time. He asked me about the issues I was having and immediately got to work on diagnosing the issue. He showed me exactly which components were having issues like being worn, leaking, clogged, burnt, rusted, etc. What I though was pretty cool was that they use an app where all photos taken during service are uploaded and shared with the customer. Long story short, my unit is in pretty bad shape due to the previous owner's lack of maintenance. The tech told me about the options to replace/repair the faulty parts, although ultimately replacing the entire unit is probably the best long-term solution. He referred me to Alen Musanovic, who was able to come the next day to take a look at the current unit, take measurements and photos, and was able to find a newer model replacement. Alen was also great at communicating from the get-go, and having worked as a technician, he is very knowledgeable about the equipment and installation process. Alen is very professional, and not your typical salesman who wants to push a deal that may be unfavorable to the consumer. Really it's more of a conversation on what your equipment, installation and service needs are and how Guardian can meet them. Overall, it was and excellent experience with Guardian, and I fully recommend them to anyone who is on the look for HVAC/AC/furnace services. Believe the 5-star reviews, you will be happy you did.

My house is not dual zoned and the upstairs was not cooling as well as the first floor and basement. Guardian suggested that we calibrate our variable speed furnace and turn the furnace fan to always on to help balance the temperature and cool the upstairs better. Additionally, add sensors to the upstairs and first floor. Guardian did the work and I thought all was great but the next day the air conditioner was running nonstop but no cold air was coming out. All 3 floors were warm. Guardian came out the following day and determined our air conditioner was low on Freon and filled it up. Everything is working well now.

Tyler came out and repaired the AC unit for my tenant and explained the dehumidification process since they asked why the apartment wasn't cool once the AC unit was fixed. Tyler also did a diagnostic check for another AC unit and gave me the option to have it repaired or replaced since the unit was old. I signed up for the maintenance program and set up an appointment to meet a consultant on replacing all the HVAC units on my property. My husband and I purchased a home with a very dated HVAC system a few years ago and had concerns about how soon we may have to repair/replace our AC or furnace. After doing our homework, we chose to have Guardian out to clean and service both within the next few months and to gain some feedback on the condition of each. We were given honest and helpful info from the start regarding how long we might have until we may want to replace one or both. A couple weeks ago, after starting up the heat for the first time a week earlier, we noticed we weren’t getting warm air and that our furnace wasn’t working properly. Guardian came out and let us know that we had a major clog in the coils of the furnace and that several other small parts would need to be replaced from normal wear and tear. We weighed the possibility of just replacing the small parts to keep it working a bit longer, but ultimately decided that the time had come to replace the entire 20+ year HVAC system. After shopping around, we had Guardian install a Carrier system that is very well rated and reviewed and fits perfectly with the size of our home and lifestyle. They were able to install it just a few days after having the initial inspection and we are very happy with the entire experience. We really could not be more pleased with the professional and friendly service we have received from every person that has come into our home. From those that came to clean and “freshen up” our AC or furnace through the years. To those that clearly explained every part of this purchasing agreement and parts to our brand new heating system. My wife and I had determined that this was the year to get central heat and a/c. We started with a broad search of HVAC contractors. This got narrowed down to three contractors, all of whom were very reasonable outfits. Guardian came in at a lower price than the competition and always took the job seriously. It was a big job of course, requiring the removal of radiators, the installation of ductwork into an old house, and of course the installation of A/C and a furnace. After numerous (friendly) conversations with Jasper Pitrello we got a lot sorted out. We sorted out financing, arranged time tables, and went over basic logistics. The team that Guardian sent out for the installation was professional and courteous. They took a little longer than was planned, but this was mostly the result of some difficulties in navigating an old house. The work required 10 days of workers in the house. The result has been a system that is already far more efficient than our old heating system. We are looking forward to having A/C in our house and we happily endorse Guardian as a crew who know what they're doing and get the job done. A+.

Needed a service call to remove the air from my baseboard heating system. I called Guardian and to my surprise they had an appoitment available the same day. Sergio the tech came out and was extremely polite and professional. He promptly removed his snow covered boots and wore some blue booties. We went downstairs to check out the boiler. He told me that it will be fairly quick and he'll have everything done soon. Having a 4 zone heating system I expected that this will take a few hours. I would have to say that it took a little over an hour to complete. He also shared some insight about my old system. He pointed out that the valves are very old, showed me rust that came out from the line when he drained it and explained that new systems have an automatic bleeder to eliminate air. He recomended that I consider replacing the boiler, expansion tank, valves and incoming water pipe where the rust is. He wasn't a fast talker or trying to up sell me. He said that it's good that I am doing the maitnece but I should look at a new unit that will also be more efficient and save money on maitnece. I was very impressed with Sergio's attention to detail, cleanliness, and kindness. Because of him I am now seriously considering replacing the boiler. If I do, I would request him to be the installer. Thanks for being such a professional.

A big, big thank you to Jasper! I called because I couldn’t get my recently installed HVAC system to work after replacing the filters on my air cleaner. A little (?) concerned because the weather was about to get extremely cold, I called Guardian and got an immediate response from Jasper who calmed me down and assured me it was probably something that was just routine and, if no technician was available, he would come out. (Jasper was the Guardian representative who sold me the HVAC.) And he came right out and looked at the HVAC and fixed it. It turned out to be my “oops” (unlike my previous system, the metal cover needed to be reinstalled for the unit to turn on—I wanted to see if I had re-installed the electronic air cleaner correctly—I won’t make that mistake again!). I am so appreciative that Jasper was so reassuring and so kind as to come out so quickly and take care of the problem!

In my past experiences with other companies, a service fee is absorbed into the labor cost if you proceed with repairs after diagnosis. My furnace went out unexpectedly and, after calling another couple of vendors and getting a bit of a runaround, I called Guardian and they were able to get to me within hours. I wasn’t thrilled to hear I needed not only a new furnace, but a new AC unit, but that was the reality. Guardian left a couple of space heaters overnight, as the installation needed to wait until the next day. Not only did they install everything quickly and cleanly, they pointed out and corrected some big errors in the original system installation. 2nd Review, Service on 9/28/21 Another excellent experience with Guardian Heating and AC. Peter repaired and serviced my Weil McLain boiler, installed a smart thermostat, and bled out all my radiators. We lost count of how many I have, but it’s a lot. I’ve never been disappointed in the service I’ve received. This cast and crew are top notch. Further, the maintenance agreement is worth every penny. You won’t go wrong calling Guardian. What are you waiting for? If you'd asked me yesterday at 3:00 p.m. to write a review, I would have probably written something less then stellar, as it appears there could be a better system in the front office for letting clients know when to expect a technician. That aside, Peter singlehandedly saved the day. He was fantastic. I was nervous about using a new company, but given that the person I had been using for the past 20 years recently retired, I had no choice. It was clear in the first five minutes of speaking with him that he knew his stuff. I have an old Weil Mclain boiler that is probably at least 50-60 years old. Did this intimidate Peter? Nope. Did Peter have the right parts? Yep! Did Peter explain everything? Yep! Is the pump running like a charm? Yep! My tenant has heat and just in time for that cold front that is moving in. I would hire Peter again in a heartbeat. He is the type of person that I think every company should have on staff - knowledgeable, courteous and a good sense of humor. Hold on to this on Guardian! Overall, the scheduling snafu was a minor glitch, because the outstanding service Peter provided made it seem like a nonentity.

I am adding on to this review as of February 2021 as my dad chose to use them again for the furnace. His review is below. 17 years ago I purchased a Lenox central air and furnance system. Last summer, during a heat wave the a/c went out. The original mega contractor was tied up for at least 3 weeks. Hearing good things about Guardian I took a chance and was pleasantly surprised. Within 3 days I had a new central air unit. In the meantime they installed temporary units so my family's comfort was not compromised. This winter the furnace needed replacing, again Guardian came through with a great deal, fast service and temporary heaters to keep my home comfortable. Craftsman like workmanship, correct installation, rare service above the call of duty, take a chance and be pleasantly surprised. This team is exceptional. Below is the review I wrote about their excellent work on the air conditioning unit. Don and Akeem were very efficient and completed a quality job from 9am to about 4:30 pm today. The Lennox of 15 years had a leak and stopped working. They installed a Carrier air conditioning system in one day and we now have air conditioning in the summer and it is working well. It is definitely an improvement. It is quieter than the former system and the EcoBee thermostat has more features etc. They helped pick a different location than the last unit explaining the former location was under a deck that caused strain on the system as a lot of the air would get pushed back down on it. I was also surprised as they never asked for water or a lunch break or anything. Maybe they switched off for a lunch break when I went to work on the computer. They set up the system outside and in the basement and did not bother me except for where the thermostat was. They did not care if I watched them install anything and they did not mess up the yard or anything. They were respectful and caused no property damage and were not intrusive and they were skilled and knowledgeable in heating and cooling systems. My cat was a little scared from the noise of the tools. Once he heard them he ran out of the basement and never bothered me that much about opening the basement door. My cat was interested in the tools and supplies in the beginning, but after a while he decided to stay away from them. The air conditioning unit is large and that scares a cat. He liked watching them from the door and window and would also go off and sit by himself and take a nap. Afterwards my cat went to the basement and looked at everything. Ezra, my cat, does appreciate air conditioning as the deck and sidewalk get too hot for him the summer. He gets when the temperatures are extreme and knows it is nice to sit in an air conditioned room. Fantastic work!!!

They were all SUPER professional and friendly and most importantly followed safe protocols in this crazy times we live in. It wasn't an easy install given the age of the old system and the weather was AWFUL for the roof team but they did it without batting an eye. How I met Guardian was one day I saw a Guardian Tec walking to his truck a few houses from mine. I asked him some questions about service and he answered them all. He gave me his card and said if you call the office to setup an appointment and ask for him to come out he would. Well its been 2 years since that time and it was well worth it. My Air Conditioner was not working the other day 6/26/19. The first HOT day in Chicago. I called Guarding Heating and Cooling for a service call. They said they could come out that afternoon and said they weren't sure about the time. I was at work and my Mom was home alone. After I called I told my Mom that they would come and check the furnace sometime that afternoon to see what the problem was. THEY CAME ONE HOUR LATER!! They fixed the problem in about an Hours time. It was a loose wire., So there wasn't a connection that's why I had no Air Conditioning. My mother being elderly can't write a check and told the technician. He told her not to worry that he would take care of it. When I got home my air was on and running beautifully. The next morning I called the company and told them I am sorry I didn't pay yet for the service and told me it wasn't a problem, They had the bill ready. I went there and dropped off a check for the full payment and got my receipt. It was a reasonable fee too. Considering my Mother being elderly was alone, The Technician was very kind and explained to her the problem he found. I have had Guarding Heating and Cooling now for many years. Also in the 1990's... our furnace stopped working on a Saturday... it was below freezing... I called at about 3 pm... and they showed up at about 5 pm... they did a temporary fix and then came back and fixed it on Monday for no additional charge.
