Great experience today with Michael and his assistant/trainee Anthony I believe, sorry if I got the name wrong. Both were very professional, friendly and hard workers. They reviewed my system, were very up front about pricing, educated me on what I was working with since I just bought the house and then got to work. I would definitely recommend them and I would definitely come back to Western because of them. My only critique was the new thermostat didn't cover the old mounting holes and paint line even with a trim ring. I know they noticed it because I heard Mike ask Anthony about it. I just assumed it was impossible due to the size difference so I didn't say anything. Later I took the thermostat down and fixed it myself though by moving the drywall anchors over about an inch and notching the hole for the wire out a tad, so it was clearly possible. When charging almost $1000 for a thermostat and a routine maintenance you'd think they would do everything possible to make sure it looked good as well. But no harm no foul and it looks great now! Overall I am very happy with both of these guys! Treat them well and keep them Western!

I’ve used these guys for years for our yearly maintenance on the A/C and furnace. We often get the same person which is great. We’ve come to know him well and he knows our system. He’s always been upfront, honest and helpful. Recently he did retire and this week I had an issue with the furnace. It’s the first time I’ve had to use anyone outside of maintenance. The new person for my area came out and was just as good! I’ll continue my usual service with them and requesting the same new person. Thanks so much.

Dustin and Brennan were both great! They showed up on time and ready to work on the coldest day of the year, so far. And we were so grateful to see them! They went above and beyond when they replaced the ducting that was previously installed and changed the size of our intake, improving our system's efficiency. They even worked late into the evening on a Friday night when there was a wiring problem (also from the previous job) to be sure that our system was working well and that the job was complete. Dustin also busted out the hot water heater replacement super quick in the morning, so that we could have hot showers after our workout! They walked us through the system, our new thermostat, and typical maintenance! We also really appreciated their sales team, as Jason wasn't trying to sell us the most expensive item but rather the most efficient and what was needed for our home, and new what improvements and changes needed to be made to improve our system's efficiency. This team was amazing! We were grateful that we chose them and for the great services that they provided. We look forward to continuing to utilize them for all of our HVAC and water heater needs.

I called Western Heating & Air to maintenance our air conditioner. Donald Smith came and was super friendly and knowledgeable. He explained everything he did and replaced the old misfitting filter with one that was the correct size, so now our air quality is improved. He also explained everything we needed to know about a whole-house humidifier, which I plan on installing in the future. Great experience. I'll definitely request him next time.

Our job was mostly straightforward but because of the age of the house, Travis had to do some extra work and did it all with a great attitude. At the end of the job they walked me through the entire install and made sure everything was ready to go.

Concern because of carbon monoxide detector had alarmed on two different days. Needed checked to be assured no leaks. Excellent service. Connor was outstanding and was a very good teacher so I could gain understanding of what to look for in the future. Russ was really helpful and checked everything I was worried about even though initially we'd only mentioned one room over the phone. He told us exactly what he was doing when he was doing it, answered every question, was very upfront and honest with us and double checked all of his work. He even went back and fixed something he'd done a little too much the first time to dial back down in our furnace. When I called this morning to find out when someone was coming out, they told me that there was a big job that was going to take all morning before us so we shouldn't expect someone until 12-4. Russ got here right before noon. I assumed whoever was coming would take time to have lunch before coming over. He didn't need to do as much as he did for us, is my point. He worked really hard right after working on something else for a really long time (from what I was told on the phone). And we appreciated it a lot. That's why I'm writing this lengthy review. Thanks Russ! We are very thankful to have heat in our bedroom now!

Donald did a great job for us. Our furnace was down and he troubledhot the problem to the condensate pump. Had a better pump than the original in the truck available for installation. After the repair was complete he confirmed all was working well before he left. He was very nice and professional. We were very pleased.

We've had their blue ribbon service, which they follow up on so you don't have to, and we've had complete reinstallation of a new system done by them. Western Heating has an excellent annual maintenance program for furnace and A/C, and the technicians are always punctual and professional, in my 20+ years in this house. Today was Dylan's first visit to my house. He was polite, quick and efficient, all while keeping me informed of costs as both the filter and capacitor needed to be replaced on the furnace. He was also super chipper and cheerful and seemed happy to be on the job, which is really commendable in today's world. Thank you!

This is something we all may put off. We had not cleaned HVAC vents for 25 years, since they were installed when we upgraded from baseboard electric to gas & furnace/AC. We rely on Western Heating and Air as well as the people that work for them. We have to give a big thumbs up to Scott and his assistant. Scott spent a lot of time in our crawl space and made several fixes and modifications to make things more efficient. Of note, after they had buttoned things up, Scott screwed on the hallway ceiling air return and we immediately heard a new and irritating harmonic sound or vibration that sounded mechanical. Scott immediately assessed that since so much dust and crud had been removed from the ducts, the blower was struggling to circulate the amount of air that it now could through the old return. He quickly took down the return and used a special tool to adjust the angle of a number of the vents in the return ceiling register. The sounds were immediately gone and the furnace was working to a much higher efficiency. My recommendation is to have your ducts cleaned if you haven't in 10 years. You won't be sorry. I can feel added air flow. Definitely call Western Heating and Air and request a visit from Scott. Both are top notch.

We had several companies come to our house and talk with us about installing a new AC and heater because for us it was not about price, but the service. Jason was the representative sent to our house from Western. He was honest, super nice and answered all of our questions. We knew going in we made the right choice with this company. When it was time for installation we had Travis and Theran ( hope I got the spelling right) come out. They were knowledgeable, respectful and overall great guys. We have no complaints with the whole process from start to finish. I will highly recommend this company to everyone.

I am so happy with my experience with Western! I’ve used them for several years to repair my ancient furnace and they helped keep it going until I was ready to replace. Most recently they installed a new furnace, AC, roof vent with ducting, and performed a duct cleaning. I never felt pressured to get something I didn’t need and the price, the quality, and the customer service was amazing. Everyone was so nice and they went above and beyond dealing with my 100+ year old house. It was built before regulation sized crawl spaces were a thing and both the installation and duct cleaning technician had to crawl under. Even though it’s a horrible space, they didn’t complain and were very understanding and kind.

My heater was making noise. Joseph can out and cleaned the fan. He said I need to schedule some duct cleaning in the spring, and showed me the gunk he’d cleaned out. He also made sure my furnace filters were in correctly. Then, Joseph explained how my furnace worked describing all of the safety features, because after the fan blow out, my house smelled for a bit. He was a very nice and polite young man.

Service was called to troubleshoot an Ecobee Thermostat that had gone offline several times in the hours since some flooring had been replaced in our home. Service was not immediately available due to it being a weekend and a lot of service calls being received by the company. I was able to reboot the thermostat several times during the waiting period, so we were not uncomfortable. Russ found that the furnace filter, installed in late September was, totally clogged with construction dust. He replaced the filter and checked all the wiring. The thermostat has not gone offline since. Russ is a very capable and personable technician.

My AC was a sounding very loud which is unusual since I’m a am on the blue ribbon vip maintenance plan and get my HVAC maintained every 6 months. I called at 5 pm and spoke to someone who set up an appointment for the next day in the heat if the summer. My technician, Mike, gave me a courtesy call 1/2 an hour before he was going to arrive and quickly found the problem and fixed it. He was respectful, happy to answer my questions and educate me about my system.

Bob Reagan a certified tech came out to service my HVAC system on 12-1-22 in SE Boise. He did an amazing job inspecting the furnace. Bob pulled out and cleaned the blower and blower area. Bob also provided a health report of my HVAC system which includes an 11 item check list to inspect your furnace such as: inspect & clean flame sensor, inspect for loose/burned/ corroded wiring connections, etc. Western has a great loyalty Reward Program when you sign up for their Blue Ribbon Service. I had heard Western has a good reputation in the new home construction industry. I was impressed with their service. Thank you Bob R., you are the best!!!

Western Heat and Air performed the original installation of the HVAC when we built our home several year’s ago. When we needed to replace the HVAC many years later we chose Western Heat and Air. We’ve been customers of the Blue Ribbon maintenance program for years as well….So when our service technician Michael Lotts and his apprentice Johnny arrived yesterday to perform the biannual maintenance it’s was everything we have become accustomed to. Michael is true professional in every sense of the word as was Johnny his apprentice. Michael indicated that the company cares very deeply about the employees and that shows up in how Michael took care of us and the HVAC system. Russ is an awesome person with fantastic air conditioning technical expertise and amazing communication and people skills. The AC condenser is roughly 18 years old so I was expecting that there were going to be some problems. Russ explained everything in advance, answered my questions fully, performed all the required maintenance checks. During that procedure, it was evident through test equipment readings that the system required additional troubleshooting. He explained that procedure was beyond the service call/maintenance check list and informed me of the additional cost for more invasive troubleshooting with a level 1 leak check. I gave permission to go ahead. There were no leaks but test equipment revealed system was low on refrigerant. He then explained options and costs. I chose add refrigerant rather than a new AC condenser and see what happens. And it turned out great! The numbers on the test equipment improved greatly. The system is now operating correctly and cooling the house. At the completion of work, Russ went through the invoice with me and the associated costs of the procedures. This whole experience was outstanding. I will continue to monitor the AC system. If anymore issues arise, I will ask for Russ!

This Company hands down is Amazing, it began back when we first got the install and Christopher C in sales was amazing from beginning to end. I had them out today on 5/19/2022 as we had a a noise the wife was like that is annoying. I reached out to Chris and he scheduled us for a visit to see what was going on. Again hands down amazing! The Service Man Rolando V, sent a text when he was on his way and was very proficient and polite. He was super amazing in explaining the situation and most of all fixed the little noise we had and was super friendly! We waited almost 4 weeks for our home warranty to get us a technician... they never did. So we were referred by a friend for Western Heating and air! I'm so glad we called them. They answered the phone with great customer service and had a technician out within just a couple of days! Tracy assisted us. He was informative and gave us tips for keeping cool and reminded us to ensure the filter is clean BEFORE calling for a technician. Ac quit on Saturday. Got a recommendation from a friend to use Western. Scheduled appointment on Sunday online as I assumed there would be a wait based on the time of year. Follow up emails and texts were great. Jason was fantastic. Very professional, explained what he was doing and found best solution for the problem.

Connor came to check on an A/C unit that wasn’t blowing cold air. He called ahead of time to let me know he was coming and arrived on time. Not only did he explain what was going on, and how common it was for this repair he checked my furnace and identified a MAJOR safety issue that was a half-@ss job from the competitor who slapped their stickers all over the unit. He was informative, helpful, and knowledgeable. I am certainly going to use this company for my maintenance & repair needs in the future.

In our new home, we discovered that the in-floor HVAC vents had been used by the builder as a trash receptacle. The tubes were filled with drywall powder, sawdust, candy wrappers, etc. Scott from Western Heating showed up on time, following a courtesy call to let us know he was on his way. Scott was a super nice guy and even harder worker. The temperature was 103 degrees on this day, but Scott worked right through the heat stopping only periodically so that we could both marvel at the large and strange objects he was recovering from the vent tubes. Western Heating uses some serious equipment to clean out the vent tubes, which was necessary for the job we had. I am very pleased with the result and will be using Western Heating the future.

So far I have met with the project manager Paul and now I have an appointment, that's apparently being rescheduled to give you the short version, to have work done so this is a work in progress. Paul was great, answered all of my questions and explained things that helped me understand my system better. Shannon, who is handling the scheduling, is has not been great. She lacks customer service skills, exhibited a failure to communicate, and complete lack of empathy for the customer. I'll try to post an update when the experience is complete. Might lower the rating depending on how/if the manager/owner responds and depending on further correspondence from Shannon, who has effectively soured the experience at this point.

I had an inquiry with Chris Combs from sales about an older air conditioning unit. We are new to Boise from Appalachia and nervous about finding a stand up person to tell us the life expectancy on our older model. He let me know it’s hit it’s life expectancy and be prepared to have to get a new unit in the future. I really appreciated his honesty. I don't often write reviews but had such a great experience with Western I just had to. Our furnace just stopped working and of course it was one of those very cold nights. We were heading into the weekend so I was trying to get a company out on short notice. Western was the only one who took it on as a priority and had someone out quickly. Mike W was the technician who did a great job of giving me a good notice of when he'd be there and quickly fixed the problem. He trouble shot it and instead of replacing a much more expensive part advised a replacement of the condensate pump which did the trick! Trying to learn more myself after he was finished and left I managed to cross some wires moving something around the furnace and Western was again quick to get Lloyd H. out who fixed my mistake in under 5 minutes. I'll be honest I've tried cutting costs by using a promotion through other companies to only end up paying more in the end by upcharges and repairs that likely weren't necessary. Tyson in the office helped me when I had questions regarding the service and was excellent to work with as well. Please trust me when I say save yourself a headache and some money by going with Western Heating the first time! Thank you all and look forward to working with you again when needed.

Overall, I was satisfied with the service. I will speak to my most recent experience that happened in May 2022. When I started up my AC on the first hot day of the year, the AC it was not cooling my home. The air temperature from the vents to the return only had a 5–6-degree difference (Delta T value). This should be at least 20 degrees. After doing some basic troubleshooting I was certain the unit was low on refrigerant. I contacted some shops on Monday, and they were booked out several days. Western Air was recommended by one of their competitors. I contacted Western Heating and Air, and they were friendly and polite. They said the earliest they could get to my house was two day later. Con- They do not give you an exact time, rather you must be available from 8am-7pm. They will call ahead, so you can get home from work to meet them. They charged a $79 fee to come out + fuel (cost of gas). The Gas fee felt petty, as they charged me $3 dollars for their gas, which seems like it should be built into the cost of coming out rather than broken out. Especially since I live in a highly populated area in Meridian. If I lived in Idaho City or Melba, a gas fee seems reasonable. The tech did his review and came to the same conclusion I had, which is the refrigerant was low. Western Air will not just fill you back up, rather than have a $90 fee to inspect and use soapy water to look for a leak. I was told that there are environmental impacts, so it is not ethical just to top off the unit without doing an inspection. Kind of annoying, but also not the worst thing since if I had a major leak, I would want to have that fixed, since the cost of the service and refrigerant is expensive. During the service, the tech destroyed my Air Filter. I had just replaced it, and the filters cost me $40, so this was annoying. I shared this issue with Western Air and they promptly resolved the issue without any pushback. Excellent Customer Service! The tech was upfront about the cost of the service. According to the tech there is no way to know how much refrigerant will be needed. We know that my unit has a max capacity of 4 lbs. and was partially cooling, so he estimated it might be down a pound or two. The final bill was $442 *ouch). Here is the breakdown: 3 lbs. of refrigerant $270 Service Fee and Gas $82 Leak Inspection $92 Refrigerant is billed in 1 lb. increments. So, if your unit requires 2.01 lbs., they bill you for 3lbs. You'd hope there is some leniency here, since at $90 lb., which is highly inflated as a 25 lb. contained sells for $100-$175, there is a big mark-up. If you don't trust the company or tech, you can easily get ripped off. As a customer I have no way to know the actual amount used, as I was only told I was billed for 3lbs.

Our first visitor was from another local HVAC company. Fixed basically nothing and suggested we needed an entirely new system on our recently purchased 4 year old home. We would be out the door for approximately $24,000. Knew he was a scam artist and had Doug show up. Didn’t mention the other guy till the very end of the maintenance. Under $200 and an hour later my system works great and just needed some TLC and a knowledgeable technician. I can’t recommend this company and Doug enough. Thanks for the honesty and integrity. Our water-source heat pump finally bit the dust after 38 years. We thought it was dead when we bought our home in 2004, but Western Heating brought it back to life and has kept it running until now. We met with Western's sales rep, Dennis, and decided on a Carrier air-to-air heat pump. On 5/2, when installers David Carlson and Drew showed up, we stood by in amazement as they removed the old system, wired the laundry/furnace room for the new system and proceeded to install, connect and test it, installing a new digital LED thermostat that is sooo much easier to read than its predecessor - and finished by 5 PM. The new system quickly brought the house to the desired temperature and we spent the first QUIET night we've enjoyed in this house in 18 years. I wish we had done this YEARS ago. Thank you David and Drew and everyone at Western who made this installation a rousing success. I should add that much of this was accomplished in a raging wind/rain storm. These guys ROCK.

Our furnace went on the fritz last week, and a technician was able to come out same day and repair the problem the following day. Come to find out the motherboard was finicky and so we decided to have a look into a new furnace (and was not charged for the original replacement part). The Western Heating and Air team installed a new A/C unit and thermostat in our home. They team was polite, professional, timely, and communicated well. Pricing was competitive and the team was transparent with increased costs due to cost of materials to build the carrier units. The one downside was that the A/C install did not come with a complimentary or reduced cost duct cleaning and their estimate was around $400 more than other duct cleaning businesses I received estimates from with a similar process. Overall, I would recommend Western Heating and Air for a new A/C install and will use their services in the future.

Western's Russ Lantz stopped by to give us a second opinion on a pressure issue with our furnace and the possibility of replacing it. He went above and beyond what was asked of him. First he found that our pressure was within normal. Then he addressed a strange whine by digging into the system, taking out the blower and repairing that blower housing that had not been installed properly and was causing the whine. The system is quiet as can be now.. He then found another component that was not the right voltage and swapped that out. Russ assured us that the system was in good shape and had some years of life left. All in all, this was one of the best and most professional service calls I have ever experienced. Thanks Russ!
