Scheduled the appointment over the phone, was told a window and the technician would call me before coming by. Like clockwork, Casey called, arrived on time, and came to my home for what initially turned out to be a blown fuse. He got the system running again and he could have left it there. But he listened to my story and decided he would make the most of his time and the service call to do some investigation. He uncovered and resolved more issues in one appointment than all the other appointments over the last two years with other companies, combined. I got more value out of one service call than I ever expected! He proposed a solution and told me that I'd be contacted the next day. The next day, I was called bright and early, the part was ordered and scheduled for another appointment the same day! He called again, arrived, and spent another 3 hours doing service and finding out all he could about my issue and what he could do to resolve it. He kept me up to date with a play by play, which I appreciate. I felt included in the solution instead of just being told what to pay for. By the end of the appointment, my issues were 99% resolved, I was completely educated on the issue and what to look for, and supremely confident that I had the right people for the job. He took care of my needs and my furnace like he would his own. You can tell he prides himself on a high quality of work and going above and beyond. That's rare. I will call A1 Heating and Cooling again and again, well, I kinda have to, I bought the yearly service agreement ;) Casey is a stud, and whole company is doing great work in this community!

Jason was just here to fix the noise after our maintenance check-up last week. The pump went out and he has us back up and running within half an hour! He had to replace the pump as it broke, not his fault, and get it restarted and he was done! He was also very courteous and patient with me because I was agitated! I wouldn't mind having him take care of our furnace every time, and ac, but I know it is a first come, first serve operation as they are all trained to all systems. But, thank you for sending him and having him do my repairs! Jason is with A-1 heating and AC. This is the 2nd call in a week for our furnace, the first one being the tune-up, and the second to replace a part that he is not even required. So, I wanted to share my experience with him, getting back in less than a week and getting the pump repaired and the furnace operating as smoothly and even quieter than before. Because he was just here for the service call, I was not charged for a second call and got a great price on the pump. He was so great and nice, and very respectful the whole time, while I was doing my usual ranting ( but I am truly getting better). I would recommend this group to anyone. Been using them for at least 5 years, hope they stay around to keep us up and running, heat and a/c!!

We had an excellent experience from the first visit with Tom Cox explaining the different systems, to the installation of the new heating and A/C system. Our installer, Ken Golden, was certainly qualified for the project. He and his assistant were clean from start to finish. They knew we were without heat, so they left after the first day with the furnace running, completing the A/C portion the next day. These guys are top notch professionals. I have them service my heating/cooling system twice a year and have never been disappointed in their service. Their technicians are polite and friendly and know what they are doing. In the eight or nine years I’ve used them I’ve never had a problem. Their office staff are friendly and helpful. My cooling system is really old and the last guy out (Cassey) didn’t bat an eye and took the time to really take it apart and throughly clean it out. I honestly can’t say enough good things about them.

My existing AC system went down hard during the hottest part of the summer. I worked with Costco who put me with Rob from A-1 Heating and AC to plan the replacement of my complete heating and cooling system with new Lennox equipment. The installers Hector, Victor, and Zach did an outstanding job ripping out the old system and installing the new equipment and ducting. They left the area cleaner than they found it and did excellent work throughout the installation. Always courteous, professional and on time, their work performance has caused me to change my opinion of the professionals in their field. (I have had a lot of bad experiences) I was extremely satisfied with all aspects of this experience and I highly recommend the A-1 team. My thanks to all involved.

Went with A-1 two years ago. Converted to natural gas which meant a gas line, new furnace, thermostat and also had a new AC system installed. Major work and not cheap. They worked with us on financing, and never did I feel that they were trying to pressure us, unlike some of their competitors. The work was done right and there were no issues. In the two years following the installation when I've called and scheduled services they've always been on time and there is never any pressure to pay for extra services on the spot. Can't ask for more than that.

If it were possible to give more than 5 stars I would. Just had a complete system upgrade, water heater, furnace and A/C. First off our salesman TJ, was great came to the house looked at what we had and made some recommendations, never trying to upsell (unlike others). Day of the install Jeremy and Zack were not only on time, they were 15 min early getting things prepped in their truck so they could start at 8. My wife called them the dynamic duo, both were very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. At the end of the install Jeremy went over the whole system. He help us set up the thermostat and covered all of its functions. Then went over all the new equipment piece by piece. He went over the controls and basic maintenance, even after a long day, he took the time to make sure we understood everything and that there were no questions. Anyone in the future looking for any HVAC work for home or bussiness would be making a HUGE mistake not calling A-1 Heating and Air Conditioning. Don't forget to ask for Jeremy S. to do the install.

Top notch service; best in the valley. I decided to purchase a new furnace after a 27yo unit failed and was no longer economical to repair. In total I had 4 dealers bid for the job and had originally accepted another company during a high-pressure sales pitch that required an immediate decision to obtain their price. The other company was dishonest about install date and called to cancel on me with 10 minutes notice for our install appointment. Rob Goodman at A1 saved the day and went above and beyond to fix the other company's mess. He pointed out that the other company had a lesser warranty, smaller filter system, and didn't include a thermostat. A1s price bid for the furnace install was spectacular and they arrived right on time with VERY FAST turnaround. October temps were in the teens in Boise and A1 expedites service for their customers with no heat. Robert and Matthew did my install and wore face masks throughout the entire process (COVID safety). They had the furnace I wanted in stock (most dealers in the area have to order), they have a metal shop to build custom ductwork for each install (again, most dealers were using prefab), the labor warranty was no gimmicks, and the code inspection passed with flying colors. Getting multiple bids for a big job can never hurt, but in the future I trust A1 to advise on any competing offers and work with me as my dealer of choice.

Absolutely perfect! On time and did great work. Installed a larger a/c compressor and an upgraded furnace to accommodate a planned addition to our home. They discovered that the drywallers must have run the furnace without a filter when they installed the drywall during the original build. Our ducks were clocked with Drywall dust. They replaced most of the ducting for no charge. Second time I've used A1. Both jobs were top notch. Highest possible recommendation!

I called for a repair of our AC fan -- it was humming but not working properly. As it turned out, a service rep was in our area on another call. He came to our home when he finished that other call. He was very efficient, he diagnosed the problem, the replacement part was in his truck, he switched out the part (connector), and the fan was working again. I was happy, I felt like A-1 was honest, and the service charge was reasonable. My service rep was polite, knowledgeable, and efficient. He calculated the service charge, he printed up an invoice, I signed it, and they emailed me a copy almost immediately. I plan on calling them again when the need arises. Thank you! GB

We had our entire 2 unit boiler system replaced, which was extremely complex and difficult. At least one other competitor had told us the electric simply couldn't be done. A1 did it in less time then they estimated, with far less drywall repair than estimated, and did it in such a way that we did not go for one day without heat. Every single person I had contact with in the company was the best at their job in their field, kind, friendly, patient, and very considerate of keeping my home clean. I've been through multiple homes' renovations, and have never experienced such high quality service.

Having a bad experience before this I was apprehensive but A1 Heating and cooling really lived up to their five star rating. My salesman was amazing and my installers were amazing. I would recommend them to anyone. Be careful and make sure that you’re actually calling A1 Heating and cooling. There is a similar name out there and I called that company which was a mistake. My technician was Maddie and my salesman was Rob. Excellent work guys.

A-1 Heating responded with a text and a personal phone call within minutes of me signing up for AC replacement through Costco. I expected to wait at least a month for an appointment since it's the middle of summer, but they scheduled an estimate for the next day and the replacement for within 2 weeks. When our unit failed completely a few days later, they got us onto their emergency list and completed our replacement a week ahead of schedule. Everyone at A-1 is friendly and professional. I recommend them 100%.

Sometimes things go wrong when repairs are made and issues are still not resolved. In my case, I had a damper motor that had gone out and after the repair was made, I did not feel there was improvement in the air flow that should have taken place after the repair. I was not happy with the results and told the technician my AC was not fixed. She had no response for me except that she felt it was working ok. I refused to pay for the repair and asked to speak with a supervisor. She left my home and emailed me a invoice for repair which only made me angry. I called the office and spoke with Jeremy Pearson, the service manager. He listened to all my concerns and apologized for not having the issue resolved before the technician had left. He assured me he would personally come out to my home with senior technician the following day to go through my entire system to make sure a proper diagnosis was made and my AC system would be in working order before he left. He did come out, along with Jessie, Sr. technician and quickly went to work. After about an hour they were able to find the root cause of the problem. An old damper door that should have been fixed to an open position had fell shut and was not allowing the air to flow into the upstairs of our home. He removed the old damper door and immediately, the flow was working again and the cooling system was back to normal. He also took the time to show me that the damper motor that was replaced, really did need replacement. He was willing to hook it back up to electricity so I could see it was not functioning. I was impressed that he wanted to build the trust and confidence back with me and with A1. He also offered to do the right thing by splitting the cost of the repair with me. No trip charge and he split the cost of the part because of the problems I had experienced. When things go wrong, you want a company that will stand by their work and will make ever effort to please the customer. A1 did this for me. Jeremy was absolutely amazing. He never argued with me or got defensive. He only wanted to resolve the issue and make things right. I would highly recommend this company because they stand by their work and will take responsibility when things go wrong.

Basically I'm very happy with A-1, I guess my issue is with the CARRIER A/C unit quality. It's less than 5 years old and has needed a new compressor and now major leaks repaired. i have a question: How does a leak like this happen and why?

Pat, I cant say enough about our experience this week with A1. I have trusted your team for our bi-annual service on your MVP program for many years. You have the best people period! It all started this week with an urgency of sorts when System Kleen (recommended by A1 and also awesome people) found our drop down had rusted badly and needed replaced as it had about 6 inches of sand, dirt and rock in the bottom. Note, this issue is likely the cause of my Mycotoxin Disease as verified with Real Time Labs out of Texas who have been working with me on my health issues. Shane came over the very next day to assess the situation. We agreed, it's time for a complete new heating system and I decided to add in a new water heater. Why not? Shane's sales approach was amazing. He assessed the need, made some suggestions and proposed a plan in a time frame that exceeded my expectations. I was instantly comfortable, confident and trusted him completely. Shane rocks! The next day 4 Feb the demo and root canal began. Maddy and Steve were delayed a bit after their demo work so that System Kleen could clean all ducting prior to install. Brilliant call by Shane to do this post demo. They did a great job. The install by Steve, Maddy and team at the sheet metal shop killed it. You and I are very particular with our toys ( cars(me) & boats(you) and the installation details on this job are awesome. When our furnace stopped working, I called A-1 Heating and Air Conditioning & Electric as we have had them do work for us in the past. Communication was great and the appointment was set. On the morning of the appointed day, I received a text from Dennis, our A-1 Tech. He arrived on time, was clean, professional, and quickly got to work. He performed several tests to narrow down the possible problem. It didn't take long to determine that the Blower Motor had failed. A quick phone call and the parts arrived. Dennis exposed the inner workings of the furnace, explaining to me everything that he was doing as he went along. Once the new Blower Motor was installed, he closed everything back up. But something wasn't quite right, and the furnace started throwing codes again. Dennis went through the whole unit, cleaning and adjusting as he went. He cleaned and adjusted inlet tubes and exhaust outputs, double checked sensors and switches, and replaced drain tubes. He got that furnace into tip top shape! The furnace has now been running without issue for over a week now. I am confident in the repairs and service that has been performed. My expectations have been exceeded. I recommend A-1 Heating & Air Conditioning & Electric, and I recommend Dennis for any HVAC work that needs to be done.

Service was for a zone damper that wouldn't fully open. The same issue occurred late last summer, which likely had been an issue since the system was installed in 2017 because now that it is fully fixed, the A/C finally is able to keep up with the heat outdoors and maintain the thermostat setting for the first time. Pros with using this company: 1. They support the equipment and will go to extremes to work until it is working properly. 2. The techs are very knowledgeable and will take the time to answer questions. 3. The techs will gladly wear masks if you ask but you do need to ask. Cons with using this company: 1. Communication from one person to another in the company is consistently bad. For this time I spoke with two people in the company to tell what needed to be done, fixing the damper and another tweak to the A/C programming. The tech showed up only knowing about the damper fix so that's all that what was worked on. 2. Although the techs will call about 15-30 minutes before showing up, if he/she is running behind schedule no call will take place before then. My appointment time was between 10 AM and 2 PM. I got a call at 2:30 PM stating that he would show up around 3. Fortunately I was available until 4 and the work was completed before then. 3. Typically, the techs will wear booties when entering the house and sometimes full suits when working in the crawl space. Maybe this time it was forgotten because he was running late but neither was used. Since the work took place in the crawl space and he went to his truck several times, a mess was left in the house. When I mentioned it to the tech, he offered to vacuum the messes with my vacuum but I declined. 4. There has never been any follow-up directly from the company throughout the years and it is difficult to give feedback. Knowing this, I actually asked the tech to have Jeremy call me a few days later for follow-up but I didn't get a call even though it has now been 11 days. This is the first time an avenue has been provided to give some feedback. I would have preferred to talk directly first rather than in a public forum but at least now some feedback is hopefully getting to the company to help improve things for future calls.

I have been on the A-1 heating maintenance schedule for several years. I was having a problem with my furnace that started in December 2014. I tried to limp along as the winter was not to bad this year. In February I decided to call and have my furnace serviced and checked out. The service man came out and let me know the results were not good and I would need to replace my 20+ year old system. Of course I was worried about the cost and when we could schedule all this work. A-1 was exceptional! There was a sales rep at my home within 2 hours. We agreed on a new system and they were the next day at 8:00 AM. A-1 Heating Does Electrical! I recently purchased a small generator in order to power some essential appliances (refrigerator, freezer, etc.) during power outages. Instead of running cords through doorways, I wanted to have electrical connections through walls where I could then connect the appliances. I had used A-1 Heating to install (in 2013) and maintain a very nice Lennox HVAC system for me and more recently a tankless water heater, so I thought I’d give them a try for electrical work which I had seen them advertise. Aric came out and we discussed the project and he sent me an estimate. Have you ever received an estimate and said “Wow! That’s more than I expected!”? Well, that’s what I did, so I asked for and received a senior discount. At that point I scheduled the job. When the Aric and Jesus came out to do the install, we discussed the project in detail to make sure it would turn out as expected; they also asked more questions as they went and I popped in to see how it was going a couple of times. The hardware they used was considerably more robust than I expected which could explain the higher than expected price. It was an afternoon’s worth of work for the two of them and when complete, they cleaned up everything quite nicely. I wouldn’t hesitate to have them do more work when needed.

A-1 came and did annual maintenance on our furnace. This is the second time we have used them and have been impressed with how soon we can book an appointment and how accurate they have been with when they would arrive. They also did a routine maintenance on our fireplace and I am unsure when the previous owners had last had it serviced. The glass was very dingy on the inside and was not looking very good. They checked on the gas lines and valves to ensure it was working correctly and cleaned it thoroughly. We were very happy and will be using A1 for or heating and A.C. needs.

I got an air conditioner put in to add to the central heating. To make a long story short, they did a good job, pricing was good, they did everything I expected them to and more. The only issue I had was with the thermostat. I told them to leave it in place, but they changed it out anyway. (I had a 5-2 day programmable thermostat, they swapped it for a simple, set heat, set cool, non-programmable one - unacceptable). Shawn, who I worked with from start to finish, was great, and when I called him about it, I could feel the curses he wanted to aim at the contractors (he apparently specifically told them not to touch the thermostat). When they couldn't find my old one, they replaced it with a similar, but newer model, which does all the same things as the old one and looks great. Overall I am very pleased with the equipment, service, and installation. Thank you A-1 for keeping me and my family cool.

I called about an under-performing furnace at 3:30pm yesterday and a tech was out first this morning at 8:00am. The phone experience was efficient and cordial - no complaints here. My tech, Jesse, was professional and persistent in finding the issue. Turns out it was a dirty flame sensor. Sounds superficial, but he took the time to explain that it is a safety mechanism on the furnace, and the board expects a 2.5v signal for the furnace to engage. Mine was sending 0.6v, so it was only kicking on rarely. He checked a variety of other metrics while he was at it and shared the results of those with me as well. Is A-1 the cheapest? Probably not, but I think they're pretty competitively priced all the same. I had a cheaper company out last year and they never truly fixed the issue (which persisted into this winter). I'd recommend this company to my friends and family, and recommend Jesse as a technician. Thanks A-1, I'll be back for future HVAC needs.

With the MVP I will get a 2nd service for our heater this winter. A-1 installed a replacement heating and A/C package in our rental home in Boise, offering us either a better or replacement option. We chose the better option even tho it was incrementally more expensive. They did a very professional and workmanlike job of putting together good options, very good equipment, and installation. This is a two-story home in which the upstairs had never been well dealt with by the previous system, which had always appeared to be substandard in capacity and inadequate for either heating or cooling without wasting a lot of energy. The new system incorporated a variable speed fan, larger capacity furnace/air handler, and larger capacity A/C system. Also they integrated a reasonably priced control system to improve the overall comfort of the home. Our tenants were astounded by the difference in their comfort with substantial improvements in air flow up and down stairs, much improved overall comfort on BOTH floors, and a MARKED decrease in the use of energy to do the job. Quoting from our last bill since install - July 2015 = 88.9 Kw/day vs. July 2016 (since install) = 46.9 Kw/day for the same calendar days! That is what I call a substantial improvement in both function and efficiency because of their excellent efforts. We truly appreciate their work and would gladly recommend them to anyone looking for similar results.

A-1 recently installed a new heat pump and air handler in our house. They completed the job quickly and for exactly the amount they quoted us. This is the 2nd system that they have installed for us. Last time it was a gas furnace and electric air conditioner in our rental house. Once again, A-1 exceeded my expectation. My thermostat had given up and I emailed them on Mon morning to ask for an appt to have someone come out and to call my friend to schedule because she would be the one meeting them at my house to wrangle the 397lbs of dog I have. By noon they were at my house and had diagnosed the problem. By 1pm he had replaced my thermostat and done the Spring A/C Tune Up that was part of my Pre-Paid Maintenance Plan but hadn't even been scheduled yet saving me and my friend from having to schedule another time that someone would have to be home. I had an issue with my a/c where the line froze up from the unit to the coil. I was a bit concerned because the a/c froze up and it was going to be 90 degrees. When the technician came out he didn't really take the time to look at it. He really just looked to see how old it was and then went on to say, "If it was me I'd just replace the entire a/c unit. And if you do that you are better off replacing the entire furnace as well." I told him its a Trane system and the manufacturer date was 4/4/2005. My unit is only 11 years old and felt that there was more we could do. He went on to say, " We could put more R22 refrigerant in it but we charge $185 dollars a pound and I don't guarantee any of my work." I said," you're joking right" He said , "I wish I was." Then he went on to say it would cost between$1100-$2000 to fix the leak and I laughed. I called another company, (Drake Mechanical) and (YMC) and they came out, fixed the leak for $200 and put in 1 1/2 pounds of R22 and only charged me $63 dollars a pound. Needless to say my A/C works great now and feel they did a great job. UPDATE: I spoke with the service manager today about my experience, he was very friendly and understanding and assured me he was sorry for that experience and that wasn't how they did business. He refunded my money and said he'd send a check to me in the mail to make this right. I feel that was fair. I do appreciate him hearing me out and taking my concerns into consideration

Your repairman (Alan) who was "on call" last Saturday when we woke up to no hot water came right out to the house and fixed what he thought to be the problem....(re-lit the pilot light) and ran a few tests as well. We purchased a Lennox System from A1 Heating and Cooling approximately 18 months ago. From the very beginning to present, the sale and service of the system has been way above my expectations. TJ Karren, the sales representative was honest and ethical. He answered all of my questions and followed through on everything he said he would do. That's how it should be. The service personal are in my opinion exceptional. The show up at the scheduled time, are clean and professional, and answer all the questions I've had regarding my system. As far as the system itself goes, we've saved hundreds in electricity costs since it's been installed. I base this off of what I was paying for electricity with the old system. I have recommended A1 Heating and Cooling to several of my friends. If you are reading this review, you should at least contact them and listen to what they say. You won't be sorry. I had A-1 replace the weak 1" filter my builder hacked in my house initially with a real filter, a MERV-15 5" unit. It wasn't an easy job due to the configuration, they had to do a bit of duct work. But they were fast, professional, and the end result looks like it was original (well better than). Very satisfied.
