Tyler went above and beyond to diagnose and repair the problem, which turned out to be three distinct problems. It took a lot of time and patience for him to work through each one, especially since he had to work with the zoned-heating system supplier's service team to be able to read the fault codes. He was thorough, explained each problem to me in detail and showed me what he was seeing, and figured out what was necessary (and saved me from paying for things that weren't). The price was eminently fair for the time and expertise he gave us, and the heat is now working great. I'll be requesting Tyler's help for any future hvac problems.

The technicians were prompt, and extremely courteous. During the routine maintenance of our furnace, they pointed out a broken piece that holds the filter in place, and gave me the option of ordering the piece and installing myself, which was less expensive than if they did it. They showed me where to order it and how to install it. As is always the case with Frosty's, I appreciated that they provided me options for best value.

Tyler was very professional and arrived at the beginning of the 4-hour block I had been promised. He was quick and helpful. In addition to maintenance, I had gone through some water damage in the HVAC closet a couple of weeks ago, and he made sure to check all the components to ensure they hadn't suffered any problems due to that issue. We've had an outstanding experience with Frosty's since we bought our home a year ago. They came recommended by the previous owners and have provided semi-annual maintenance on our two HVAC systems. My 20+ year old heating/AC unit was damaged by a lightning strike. I chose Frosty's because they have a regular presence in Fairlington and doing work on these very old homes can be challenging. I am 100% satisfied (thrilled) with every phase of the work, from initial problem diagnosis to discussing replacement options to the actual work of replacing the unit. The 2 gentlemen (Tyler and Paul) doing the replacement work were the most courteous, professional and personable people I have had the pleasure to deal with. What grueling work in this heat. The final installation was fantastic - gained 1/2 of my attic floor back and the system works great. I'd recommend Frosty's without hesitation. The new AC unit was installed within 48 hours of my first call - thank you - it is (was) hot!

My Trane HVAC system from the 1990s would occasionally need service over the last 15 years, including recharging (causing the system to freeze), fan motor replacement, condensate line clog, and fuse replacement. There are a few companies available in Arlington, VA servicing Fairlington Villages, and even when I shopped around, Frosty's was always accommodating of the urgency of an HVAC system. At some point, when the freon that my system uses was no longer available, they had a limited supply to patch up my system as it got to its end of life. I shopped around for a replacement (an expensive job with every quote I was receiving from all vendors). Their familiarity with Fairlington helped me apply for the right variances so we can relocate the outside unit and find the right alternative for my condo. After settling on an American Standard unit, I also added the water heater (from the late 1980s) before it would fail and leak. They explained all the variables that would occur on installation day to set my expectations (best and worst case scenarios for the installation and timeframe). On the day of the installation, they came exactly on time, worked with us on our morning schedule before shutting down the water, pressure tested the HVAC lines, installed everything, and cleaned up completely after themselves. They finished 2 hours ahead of time. The system worked perfectly but after a week it started to fail to fully cool. After I called them they sent a tech the very next morning, refilled the system, and added dye to the lines so that in two weeks they couch check for leaks. Two weeks later, the system was still working perfectly fine and no leaks were found. I relied on them to be responsive and realistic and to work with me if/when problems would come up, and I found just that. The owner James and his crew are professionals.

Todd and Andrew went above and beyond to clean and fix my two ductless mini split units! They arrived on time, were extremely polite, answered all my questions so thoroughly, and left everything pristine. They even scheduled their arrival to work with my baby's nap time! Todd and Andrew were so kind and even took a look at my roof when the leaking turned out to not be from the unit and recommended a contractor. I will absolutely use Frosty's for any future mini split issues and for general maintenance and I will definitely request Todd and Andrew specifically!

We had the joy and privilege of meeting Todd today when he came to service our HVAC unit. He was incredibly knowledgeable and thorough in explaining what he was doing and why he believed certain repairs/replacements need to be done. I've been using Frosty's for more than a decade. Their routine service call (winter and spring check up) was a little higher in price but worth every penny. They pay attention, listen, and do what they say. Best news - if you're on their regular maintenance schedule, you get priority service when the a/c goes out on a 102 degree day in August or a cold winter's night in February. I recommend them highly.

Tyler was super helpful and knowledgeable on fixing my tankless gas water heater. He was able to identify the issue the same day. I had previously hired 3 different plumbers who told me they didn’t know how to work a Bosch water heater. Tyler got right to work and figured out the issue and was able to come back the next day with the correct tools. He also installed my new nest thermostats we just got. With the help of Andrew, Tyler and Andrew cleaned out my clogged strainer and fixed issues with my PRV that the builder did incorrectly. They were extremely helpful, went the extra mile to help, and make sure everything was working correctly. The next day after that Andrew came and helped me change the settings for the temperature controls something only technicians have access to. They went above and beyond, offered quality service, and are completely trustworthy! If you have hvac issues, water heater problems or any pressure issues these guys are the real deal!!

They correctly diagnosed the problem, did some maintenance to get us back and operational, and worked through getting a more permanent fix once the special-order part was available. When the replacement was bad, they got another one and installed it with no additional charge for the visit. Frosty's came for a Spring check-up and discovered two leaks. Recommendation was to replace the system. Our landlord approved. They came back today and installed the new system. They were kind and quick. In and out with system testing all in 3 hours. They also took care of a quick noise issue in one of the ducts - easy fix but nice of them to do it.

Top notch service….I was fortunate to be serviced by the owner of the company for my emergency Saturday no heat call! Thankfully Frosty’s got me set up with heat for my cold home when my AHS Warranty company couldn’t service me until that Monday…The problem was assessed quickly, without any hidden charges or unnecessary charges that I didn’t need….which often happens with the contractors provided by the warranty companies…they seem to make the job larger/more expensive than needed…Frosty was timely..honest…and offered exceptional friendly service! I couldn't wait to leave Frosty's a raving review! Yesterday at some point while my husband and I were at work, our AC completely died. We both work long hours, and didn't know until about 8pm last night when we came home to a HOT house. This morning I tried calling 7 different HVAC services and none of them were able to guarantee a time for today, tomorrow, and some not even until Monday. I honestly had no hope of getting this fixed any time soon. Late last night I had filled out an online form for Frosty's and they called me back early this morning, after I thought I exhausted my options. Mary, who was wonderful over the phone, was so kind and professional and was able to schedule a technician to come out today between 12-4pm after I told her I was 8 months pregnant ( I think she could sense my panic over the phone). I was THRILLED, as I couldn't get anyone else to even commit to a time frame. Not only was Mary able to get someone out here, she somehow made it happen TWO HOURS before the promised time! James arrive at my door roughly around 10:30-11am and was able to get everything repaired and up and running by 11:30am! He also explained all of our options moving forward, which was so incredibly helpful. I couldn't believe the kindness that they both showed me and my family today, and I am forever grateful. This was by far the best experience with an estimate for a new HVAC system because Brandon came in to evaluate the current system and space followed by a person-to-person conversation about needs and options instead of a lengthy presentation meant to upsell a customer. He gave us direct answers to questions and provided a timely quote to replace our aged system that was lower than quotes from two other leading companies for the same system.. From agreeing to the quote to installation was less than 2 weeks. [THIS WAS WRITTEN IN 2020, BUT I DID NOT REALIZE THAT IT HAD NOT BEEN POSTED AT THE TIME. THE SYSTEM HAS BEEN GREAT.] We've a long history with Frosty's, installing and maintaining our systems, and they value customer loyalty. Our Trane system was notoriously short-cycling, but doing so intermittently. Phil diagnosed what the source of the failure was, which was going to call for replacement of the coil and associated sensors, an expensive repair. I asked if it might be more cost-effective, over time, to replace the system rather than repair it, not knowing what it's lifetime or maintenance requirements could be from this point on. Phil answered many questions I had in identifying and then weighing the pros and cons of the additional cost of a replacement. That was my ultimate choice and I'm not second-guessing it. This will be our third system installed by Frosty's, and I know it will go OK and that, should there be any problems, they will be remedied. Phil's a fine diagnostician and technician.

Highly recommended. Frosty’s provided exceptional service on every aspect of a large project—from owner James’ consultation to Service Manager Larry’s installation-team leadership. I had two HVAC systems installed in my 1940’s colonial (one system in the attic, another in the basement) to improve cooling on the second floor and to eliminate ductwork on the first floor. The full job took only three days and could not have gone more smoothly. Frosty’s had a 3-4 person crew at my door at EXACTLY 7am every morning, and the crew was gone (and my house clean) by the time I arrived home every evening. Product manager Larry was wonderfully professional, friendly, and knowledgeable, and went to great lengths to ensure every aspect of the job was completed to my satisfaction. His team of Paul, Leo, and Tony were highly efficient and respectful. The systems are performing perfectly, the price was fair, and the service was exceptional. I give Frosty’s an A+ and will recommend and use them for future work.

The space in my attic is small, so they had to have the right size guys to get the unit up the stairs and into the attic: translation, smaller guys, but incredibly strong and nimble. After a full kitchen re-model, we needed to install a heating and cooling unit in our un-airconditioned and non-heated kitchen which was added on to the home by the previous owners. For years, we went without a/c and heated the room with a pot-belly stove. When we contacted Frosty's we had something in mind which we thought would have to include busting through the exterior brick wall and placing a large unit in the hole cut in the side of the house. When Frosty's came in, they gave us the option of a new piece of equipment which nestled in the ceiling between the joists. It was our understanding that this was a new product which had recently been released so we were a little nervous about how this would go. It was within our budget so we went with it and we are so glad we did!! When Frosty's team came in, they worked quickly and efficiently and did a beautiful job on the installation with this awesome product. The unit only hangs about a 1/2 inch from the ceiling and is quiet and efficient. Not only is the product great, but so was Frosty's team. When my husband was not home, they worked with me and took the time after installation to show me how to work and clean the new unit. I worked at home when the guys were here and always felt safe and respected. Frosty's guys cleaned up their work beautifully and made us know that anytime we had any problems or questions, that they would be available to come out help. Specifically it was Larry who I talked to the most and I wish I could remember the names of the rest of guys on his team to give them shout-outs, too. The units all work great and I don't get calls from my tenants. It is twenty degrees out right now and all my tenants are comfortable. Had a really ambivalent experience with them. I needed them to replace my condo HVAC indoor air handler and outdoor compressor both. Picked a model, got a quote. Pretty good deal on it, on par with McCarthy Services, though much cheaper than Air Control. Then the owner said that they just got a deal themselves from the manufacturer for something similar but better. They offered to cover the price difference themselves, so it was a free upgrade from what I asked. I was impressed. And then they arrived. Or rather just "he." The job was supposed to start in on a Thursday morning and end by about 1 or 2 PM. However, the contractor's partner called sick, and the company could not find a replacement. With only one person on the job, it was 7:15 PM before the guy finally left, with a promise to come the next day and finish up. It feels really weird to eat dinner while a stranger is working in the house, but we got too hungry to wait. Well, that sucked, but it happens. My wife would be home Friday, and I could not see the air filter, so I told my wife "before he finishes and leaves, ask him where the air filter goes." The next day, my wife asked him about it. I'm told the contractor responded to the question by looking over the air handler, getting confused, and calling his manager to drive over to the condo. Apparently, the filter would not fit because the rack under the air handler could not handle the weight above, and it needed to be replaced an issue that the annoyed manager really felt the contractor should have noticed on day one (and probably not have noticed only because I thought to ask an important question). So...they promised to order the part, and come back Monday to finish. Monday comes no call, no show. I email the owner after work, and he gets it back on track. Finally fixed on Tuesday morning. It's lucky that my wife telecommutes from home and could handle all this, because in any other circumstances, all this mess would be hugely disruptive to the client. So there you are. I got a good deal from these guys. However, I thought their near-5-star rating on Google was a sign that these guys are really good, so although they were inexpensive, I trusted this was not a "you pay for what you get" situation. Nope. They are a low-bid contractor. If you are fine with that, great. On the other hand, I'm told that for HVAC's, efficiency and reliability are more about the quality of the installation than the hardware brand/model. Now that the new HVAC is installed, I'll be watching the new equipment with a little unease. If something goes wrong with it too soon, I'll probably go to another contractor to get it fixed. Frosty's is definitely not a 5-star performer. I think 3-stars is fair.

I had Frosty's replace my HVAC system in December before the winter. The heating worked well (after a few unrelated issues were fixed by Frosty's) over the winter. Frosty's came in March to make sure my new system would be ready for Spring and warmer temperatures. When I turned on the A/C last week however all that came out of the vents was warm air, and my A/C was essentially a heater. I must say I am somewhat disappointed in Frosty's for installing a new system that does not function as it should, even after checking on it. Response from Frosty's is usually prompt though.

My A/C unit was not blowing cold air. The technician "T" identified the problem quickly and replaced the capacitor which fixed the issue. The thing I appreciate is his honesty. Background is I have what I think is a fairly young (about 12 years old) top of the line 90% efficient Carrier furnace. I did not expect the fan to stop running leaving us without heat on a Saturday morning in mid December. I called Frosty's on the advice of two neighbors. They came to the house a total of three times, always within the 4 hour window as promised. The first visit they diagnosed a motor module. I reeled under the estimate of $2100 for the replacement but authorized the repair. They wanted to get us heat as soon as possible thus they picked up a new Trane module from the local warehouse. They were told the Trane module was a perfect replacement for the Carrier module. They installed it the next day only to find out it did not fix the problem. They voiced the possibility it was a separate printed circuit board that would cost another $2000. I now faced the dilemma of pouring $4000 into this furnace or buying a completely new one for $5000. They decided to order the exact replacement from Carrier believing that perhaps the Trane module was not an exact replacement for the Carrier module. They installed it three days later. Now came the moment of truth. The repair person had to call the office for the new cost of the repair. I envisioned an escalation of the cost, but to my complete surprise the final repair cost was $1500. I don't know what happened between the Trane part and the Carrier part. It was pleasing to see that they charged me for the actual cost (plus markup to be sure) instead of the higher cost of the Trane part. After all, I authorized the original repair cost of $2100 and I would not have been any the wiser if that was the final cost. NIce to see there are honest people around after all. Hard to believe in this day and age. Everyone from the receptionist to the repair people were quite pleasant, explained everything to me and made me part of the decision process. The cost, after all, was reasonable. I am a very happy customer of Frosty's and recommend them to anyone without reservation.

The visit started off with the team arriving right on time at 7a, politely not ringing the doorbell, but quietly knocking on the door. They proceeded to be clear about what they needed to do the work and how long it would take. They then quietly proceeded to complete the (rather large) job about 30 mins faster than they said to expect. They walked me through the work they'd done and confirmed there were no questions before leaving, only after they'd cleaned up any mess they might have created (I'll never know, since the whole workspace was like they hadn't been there.) Can't say enough how much I appreciate the Frostys team.
