Reviews of BridgePoint Continuing Care Hospital - National Harborside

It is with great pleasure that I share this review with the public. I went to visit a close friend who is a patient at Bridgepoint Continuing Care Hospital. During my visit I encountered Nurse Abby. She was very attentive and professional with my friend. So many people quickly criticize negative service. I have been guilty of doing the same. On the other hand , when I see exceptional service I feel compelled to do the same. In addition, the patient advocate (Ms. Rocky) introduced herself. She made me feel assured that my friend was in the best of care. That is the desired outcome for any loved one. I can conclude by saying "Job well done".

My father just completed almost 2 months of rehabilitation after undergoing cardiac surgery and if you had asked me to rate the facility when he first was transferred there, I'd have given it probably 3 stars. But, in the time he was there and then to the time he left, his care just kept getting better and better. The staff generally seem to care for the patients and some do get frustrated because they're overworked and probably underpaid but most do seem to care for the patients. My father wasn't the easiest patient but 95% of the staff that cared for him were great, patient, and kind. But the icing on the cake in his situation was the sendoff they gave him when he WALKED OUT ON HIS OWN. He was celebrated for his victory over his condition and the staff lined the halls clapping, cheering, and giving hugs to him as he walked out and it brought tears to our eyes to see the amount of love the staff gave. They didn't give up on him and that is the most important takeaway. Thank you Bridgepoint staff for all you did for my father and our family.

I was in the Bridgepoint facility for 10 months, after complications from Covid-19. During that time, I met some of the kindest and most compassionate workers from the nursing and nursing aids staff, Housekeeping, Respiratory services, Physical therapy and the Activities staff. The only negative thing I can say is that there is a problem with short staffing that needs to be worked on. There were times when there was only one aid available to cover a floor.
When I was moved into the Skilled Nursing facility to begin serious physical therapy to learn to walk again, I received so much positive reinforcement from the therapists and the nursing staff every step of the way. With every improvement that I reached with my healing there was always someone to cheer me on and pat me on the back. Even when I was sad because it was taking my body longer than I wanted, nurses and aids told me I can do it, just keep at it! I’m so thankful for these beautiful hearts that cared so much for me and my getting better! It’s because of them that I am walking!! Special thanks to Kathleen, always so helpful, and LaToya, always smiling, helpful, and a true heart for her patients! The send-off was fabulous, dear people lined up the hallway to celebrate with me and give me hugs of encouragement that I was finally going home! Thank you so much!! I’ll never forget it. ❤️❤️❤️

I had a Wonderful Experience with one of their employees (Mr. Marvin Colbert) who went out of his way to help me recover my Sisters belongings. He was Polite, Exemplary in his duty and I would steal him if I was still working as a City Manager he’s that Outstanding. Thank You again Marvin for being the Wonderful person you are and GOD Bless You!!

Have been coming here sometime, Ms. A DUCKETT was phenomenal 👏 🙌 thanks for helping my family with their breathing treatments. I can see her passion through the work she does. I'm thankful 🙏 . Happy Holidays & Happy New Years. …

The patient advocate person I have found to be exceptional better than the ones we’ve had in the past I can’t think of her name right now it might be rocky or Locky but she is good along with Niya and miss Caroline both are good CNAs. However there are a few CNAs that need a retraining program badly. Thank you, 🙏🏽🙏🏽 …

What can I say? Only that this hospital brought my father back to life. COVID-19 almost took him and BridgePoint put him back together. The staff at BridgePoint National Harbor was absolutely fantastic. From the calls and facetimes we were always in contact and knew what the next steps where to get my father back. I want to shout out Erica his case manager, she always answered the phone set up meetings and listen to me cry when we had setbacks. I cant thank them enough for everything they have done and continue to do.

The staff is excellent I especially enjoyed Allegra in Physical Therapy.. She was absolutely patient with me along with my techs. They never show any attitudes when assisting me. I have never been in a health facility where even the housekeepers are friendly. Everyone who greet me has a smile on their face.

My Physical Therapist Fatima is passionate about my progress. Although my legs feel heavy Fatama encourage me to push forward. I took more steps today and I am better for it. The Dialysis team is very good they are always concerned about my level of comfort; my PCT Renee gave me the best bath. The water felt really good and she took her time she went over and beyond because I was not even part of her team. I slept like a baby after my bed bath.

This facility is spectacular and the cleanest hospital I have ever been in.
My cousin Bobbi Jacob has been here several times and always excellent care from all.
Competent, caring and compassionate doctors, nurses, techs, physical, speech and respiratory therapists, case managers and patient advocates. Also let's please not forget the cleaning staff who not only clean but offer lots of smiles.
There is always someone there to help if issues arise.
Director of Nursing, Nurse Supervisor, House Supervisor and always a doctor available if needed.
A special thanks to Diane White for always being there for Bobbi and me.
Please don't hesitate to bring your loved one to Bridge Point.
Thanks Koni Allen Perkins

This hospital has changed a lot. It's very comfortable and clean. I'm pleased with Physical Therapy as well as my PCT Jamie. The Nursing staff has been very attentive to my needs. If I have to come back Bridge Point will be my first choice.

So far its been a great experience, the staff and everyone has been accommodating. Since we are from out of town they have shown great hospitality, I am able to stay with my Dad while he is on the mend. I would recommend BridgePoint rehap hospital to anyone seeking a place for rehap and if you are looking to stay with your love one. The medical staff is very polite, and have shown patience towards me when I asked questions regarding my Dad in a timely manner. They do not mind explaining detailed information; and also, taking the time to listen when I am unsure of how to explain my questions.

Throughout the time my father has been at Bridge Point Hospital they have taken good care of him. I'm beyond thankful for the staff and nurses that have been with my father for about 7 months now. I would recommend Bridge Point to anyone that has love ones that need the extra care! Again, thank you Bridge Point Staff for taking care of my father throughout the time he has been here!

All I can say is Brenda Ladelle, is my mothers patient advocate and she gives us the most that anyone could possibly give when it comes to someone making a life transition. From her personal cell to weekly reminders to make sure we as a family are doing what supposed to be done. This women is amazing at what she does and her personality suits the position of true leadership . She guinuinly cares about the patients and it shows. She has made our transition exceptional with her knowledge of senior care. Everyone should have a Brenda Ladelle

My dad is currently a patient at Bridgepoint Hospital after getting a tracheostomy at Southern Maryland Hospital over a month ago. The doctor's there, informed me that Bridgepoint was the best place to wean a patient off of the ventilator. Since my dad has been a patient, the service he has received has exceeded my expectations. Not only that, they have treated my family and I with exceptional customer service. I have not come into contact with anyone that I could make a complaint about, and this is huge because I'm at the hospital visiting my dad each and everyday. Within 3 weeks, my dad has been totally weaned off of the ventilator (he still has the tracheostomy), he has a speaking valve, and they are about to start working on him eating. I am so thankful to the entire staff for their diligence, care and empathy for my dad and my family. Thank You Bridgepoint for being GREAT!

Everyone is nice and very cordial, this is one of the best hospitals I have been in. Physical Therapy really has set the stage for my recovery, they are very professional in making sure that I am comfortable before staring my therapy. Anthony and Brook take the time to go over what my regiment will be to get me stronger. I look forward to getting my legs stronger and taking more steps in the weeks to come.

When I first walked in to get my Uncle's belongings I was greeted by security, Marvin, who was handling the front desk. He was a delight and so VERY helpful. He went above and beyond his job duty to make things easier for me. He deserves employee of the year BY ALL MEANS! Carolyn Sweenie was my case worker and she was also a tremendous help thru a difficult time. She was polite and empathetic and I enjoyed working with her. I am not quite finished yet. Dr. G was also very informative and returned phone calls promptly. I just had an overall great experience with the staff in a difficult situation. THANK YOU TO EACH AND EVERYONE OF THEM!!

If the hospital your loved one is in has given up on them, and they've given you no hope of getting your loved on off the ventilator, please try Bridgepoint National Harbor (actually SW DC). That said, try it only if you are willing to have someone from your family there each and every day to monitor what is happening. Dr. Gohari was his Pulmonary Specialist, and she is excellent and did what she said she would do, however, she is stretched way too thin and you have to be persistent in order to discuss matters with her. The nursing staff in ICU was very good, but again, we made it our mission to know every single nurse by name and to communicate daily regarding Dad's progress. The hospital in 2017 during my Dad's stay was in the process of being upgraded - and from what I saw when I took Dad back to visit the staff in December of 2017, they had come along quite nicely with renovations and updating of the computer system. My feelings on Bridgepoint run the gamut. It's in a cruddy location, but they are improving their campus and improving the building. Some of the staff are horrible, yet there are some who we will never forget (Mr. Simmons!, Marion!). Sometimes I felt like I had to be the most obnoxious nag in the world to get something done, but some days everything was done as it was supposed to be. My Dad had been given a death sentence by our local hospital in Southern Maryland. I know my Dad, and knew he was far stronger than they realized. Bridgepoint got him off the ventilator with a tracheostomy, a few weeks later, decanulated him (and I'd be remiss if I didn't also include the great job physical therapy did with him, both physically and mentally-Brooke and Anthony were awesome), unfortunately he did pick up MRSA while there and had a few set backs but eventually they did everything they said they'd do and got him to a nursing facility close to home, 2 weeks later we had him home. He has gone from having about a 0 to 1% chance of survival to living his life-going about his daily activities, pretty much his old self again. You can get a lot out of Bridgepoint National Harbor, but only if you are willing to put in a lot of time yourself staying on top of everything and learning everything about your loved one's condition. If you expect to plop them in there and them walk back out good as new without you yourself staying vigilant, forget it. It won't happen. But if you can go the distance and let the staff know you are watching and paying attention to everything, you'll get results. Shame it has to be this way, but it is true.

My husband has been a patient at Bridgepoint for the last 4 months and it has overall been a really good experience. This facility has been instrumental in my husbands healing. The nurses, nurse manager, doctors, technicians, therapist, patient advocate and staff have been extremely helpful and kind to my husband and to me. Many of them go above and beyond. It is clear that what they do is not just a job, but a calling. The wound team has been extremely instrumental in turning things around for my husband. I’m eternally grateful for all the people that have given their all and then some to help in my husband’s recovery. They take time to answer your questions and give you daily updates. They also create the space to allow family members to really feel like everyone’s on the same team, with the main focus being on the patient’s care. No place is perfect and it is clear at times the facility is short staffed. I know this is an issue in most healthcare facilities. Which is why I cant stress enough, no matter what facility your family member may be in, You MUST have a strong daily family presence. It is Critical to the success of your family members healing and quality of care.

I had my Mother moved here from another hospital and it was the best decision I could've made for her. The patient care is excellent but what makes the difference for me is their emphasis on working with family members to care for loved ones and how everyone has gone above/beyond to make sure my Mother and I are comfortable.
Regina Crowder
The staff is !00% they keep my Mother very clean. The staff is great I have no complaints! I like my Patient Advocate and I love my Mother's case manager Beverly she is fantastic.

I am very grateful to be here at Bridgepoint. The Nurses and Techs have taken great care of me. The Wound Care team is the best in the DMV area. I was told in Virginia that it would take two years for my Wound to heal. It only took five weeks here at Bridgepoint. I thank God that I am here.
sharon johnston
The ICU team saved my Mom's life. Dr. Gohari is the best ICU specialist and Chidi Nwachukwu is the best ICU nurse I've ever met. From the whole family, we are grateful to the whole 2nd floor ICU team. Thank you so much.

I must admit that I was initially skeptical about BridgePoint based on the reviews that I had read from the various sources. As it has been said, "Don't judge a book by its cover."
I am here to say that "in my opinion" the reviews does not do BridgePoint justice. I feel that most of us are quick to write a complaint, but very slow in pointing out the good.
Today is day #60 that my brother has been in the hospital. He transferred from another hospital to BridgePoint because he needed to be in a long-term acute care hospital. So he arrived at BridgePoint on May 29th and is currently on his way to Rehab (at BridgePoint).
I am here to say that the STAFF and SERVICE is EXCEPTIONAL (Doctors/Nurses/Patient Care Technicians/Respiratory Team/Social Workers/Patient Advocate Team/Admission's Team/Quality Care Team/Speech/Physical Therapy/Maintenance/Security, etc.).
If I have a question, they answer it. If I have a concern, it is addressed. Upon every visit, I am greeted by some member of staff.
Words can't always express exactly what it is that you want to say, but please know that you're appreciated and that the world is so much better because of people like you. So, I would like to extend a HUGE "Thank You" to Dr. Gohari, Dr. Mustafa, Dr. Niaz, PHYSICIAN's ASSISTANTS: Nakeitha, Jacob; ADMISSIONS: Rayshonne; PATIENT ADVOCATE: Ernasha Noel and Tigist; PHYSICAL THERAPY: Anthony, Karen and Brooke: SECURITY OFFICERS: Angela, Mr. Colbert and Mr. Franklin; SPEECH THERAPY: Hillary: CASE MANAGER: Desiree Spencer: NURSE SUPERVISORS: Linda & Veronica; NURSES: Irene, Susan, Addie, Sweta, Joey, Nelson; QUALITY CARE: Mr. Reginald Baisden; RESPIRATORY: Julian, Joy; Vicky, Feltwork, PATIENT CARE TECHNICIANS: Foxx, Price and Mrs. Betty: HOUSEKEEPING: RayShawna, John, Darnell and Andrew: RECEPTIONIST: Taylor.
If you have a family member in the hospital, please note that the best medicine for any patient is the care that is provided and love of family. I can assure you that your presence helps the patient with a speedy recovery.

I'm visiting my mom and I must say Kelly is definitely respectful and works from her heart. My mother has nothing but great things to say about Kelly and the level of comfort my mother has with her will help heal her emotionally and physically.

This young lady service was absolutely outstanding. She is very friendly and accommodating. If she had her own place of business, I would recommend her highly. I’m so happy that my mother and I had the opportunity to be blessed with her presence.

My overall experience from the LTACH and SNF has been comfortable. I came in through the LTACH upon my arrival and I am being discharged from the SNF. Everyone has been really nice to me. Whenever I needed extra clarity on my care they were patient enough to explain things to me. I would come back if circumstances arise.

This review is for Erica the case manager I want to give her a five star rating every time I called she either answered or called me right back within a timely manner she answered all my questions she didn't try to rush me off the phone she listen to all what we want it she tried to give us everything that we want it of course what the insurance would allow and also my mother was a recent double amputee back in November but she went up having Covid so she was at Franklin Square from November .23 to February 4 where she went to Bridgepoint and him you know she has to learn everything and Erica was so patient Thank you so much Erica

My Patient Advocate just walked into my room and put a smile on my heart she communicates with me that shows me that I really matter. And there is a Phlebotomist that I will certainly give a 9 she's very pleasant.
