They are amazing!! I had symptoms of a heart attack and had my mom take me to the closest hospital....waited maybe a few minutes and they took me right in...I was transferred to a different hospital via an ambulance only because they don't do blood transfusions at this location but that's okay...I still give them more then 6 stars because the nurses and doctors really worked quick and very well...I appreciate everything they did for me there.

Sentara Independence Hospital is located along Independence Blvd. in Virginia Beach. This hospital has a 24 hour emergency department. It is located at the intersection of Independence Blvd. and N. Witchduck Rd. It's a few miles north of the town center area of the city. My visit here was on the night of October 31, 2022. The visit to the hospital was not for me, but rather my mom. She had fallen in the garage that evening and since she fell and hit the head too, I wasn't taking any chances and brought her to the hospital. I had first gone to Sentara Princess Anne Hospital's emergency department, but after waiting a while, the wait was too long. The wait there would have been an additional 5.5 hours, so we left that hospital and took her to this one on Independence. Once we came in, the place was not very busy at all compared to the prior location. As with any hospital, the first step after entering the emergency department is you go to the triage desk. They get your general info, along with taking blood pressure and such. After that check in process was done, we waited in the lobby for a few moments. Shortly after, one of the nurses called her name and we were able to go to an examination room. The nurse said a doctor would be in shortly. Shure enough, the doctor came in pretty quickly thereafter. At that time, he checked things out and at least nothing was broken. A CAT scan was performed to ensure no injuries to the head. About an hour later, the results came back and the CAT scan was clear. I was just glad in the end that nothing serious came out of that fall she had. It can definitely be a small world too, as the ED doctor also has the same PCP as we do. We found that out when he asked who the PCP was for follow up after this visit. Overall, this was a very good experience. The staff were caring and made sure all questions were answered and such. Had we waited at the Princess Anne location, we would have still been waiting there for her to be seen, as it would have been around midnight at that location. She got discharged around 10 pm or so. I would consider coming back to this location first, because the Princess Anne location always seems to be packed.

I was beaten pretty good in mid September. Never saw it coming! So, I’m not on my phone as I walk around…lol Long story short, my nose was one of a few items injured. A couple of weeks later, I get an infected nasal which abscessed. I went into the ER at Sentra Independence and ran into the RN. No not Nurse Ratchet but none other than “Scott the HOT.” Scott was outstanding! P.A. Adam Nyarady (who was very cool too) and Scott decided to relieve my issue like 2 Core-man at a Drunken BBQ. They had fun…. I got 😮‍💨 relief. May The ❤️ Flow … Thanks!! Ed M

I’m writing this review in regards to my experience today. I hadn’t been to this hospital since I had my daughter in 1996 (before they stopped labor and delivery) and normally visit another hospital that’s closer to my house. This hospital had the first available MRI appointment with Sentara so this is where I ended up. First want to say that Joel, at the front desk, was very polite and professional. I was pleasantly surprised being that when going to Sentara PA, I usually get attitude as if they are bothered with having to help people. Joel was welcoming yet the point with professionalism. I then had a very brief wait to be called back for the MRI and the gentleman that brought me back was also very professional and showed compassion as well. After getting into the MRI room, i was shaking and so nervous. With tears running down my face. I apologized and explained that I have severe anxiety. I just wanted to get it over with. A young lady named Rachel consoled me and offered to stay with me through the MRI. She stayed by my side the entire time. I would start shaking through the loud noise and she would put her hand on my leg to remind me that she was there and that I was ok. They both kept checking to see if I were ok and letting me know that I was doing well and we were almost done. After what seemed like hours (even though it was probably only 35 minutes). I thanked them again and explained why the noises and being enclosed bothered me so much. I had been in a mass shooting at my workplace .. building 2 of the Va Beach courthouse.. and still suffer from PTSD and severe anxiety due to that shooting by my co worker and everything that happened that day. I really don’t think that I would have been able to get through it without their patience and kindness.. especially from Rachel. They both were wonderful but Rachel was the definition of professionalism, patience and kindness

Very efficient ER… the PA listened to my concerns and was able to get me exactly what I needed in a timely manner. Thank you!

ER visit was good, checked in and didn’t wait too long. Only real issue was not being told the medication I was getting in my IV would make me nauseous. As soon as the nurse was done I immediately vomited. I asked if the medication would of done that and the nurse said “yeah, sorry about that” over all they got me in and out within 2 hours. Gave me some antibiotics and gave me a referral to a specialist.

Went here earlier this evening. Everyone was so thorough and friendly. They really cared. Seems like the doctor's in va are so different than the ones here in NC. In VA, they seem more experienced. There's one or two here in NC. Especially my OBGYN. Dr M...., she is awesome.

My husband & I are so grateful to have Sentara Independence as an option for my outpatient labs and studies, as well as Emergency Department. I have been so pleased with the professionalism and performance of everyone there, from registration to the phlebotomist and radiology technologists, etc.! Jessica was my ultrasound tech today and I couldn’t have had a better experience! It was potentially a very uncomfortable procedure, but she was amazing and very comforting. I wish I could give her five stars, all by herself! Thank you so much, Jessica and Sentara Independence!

Had a and pleasant and peaceful visit to Princess Ann. The staff was nice and helpful. They help me to protected all my personal items and treated me with care. The two nurses I spoke to were so nice had some interesting life experiences and the two doctors were as well.One lady from the front desk was giving weird vibes when came into emergency room she started talking crazy and when I left out.Went in to retrieve my doctors notes I felt weird vibes again from her.It’s some true weirdos work in the hospital.I thank the two doctors and two nurses who gave me fluids and meds because overall they were great and that’s even great customer service altogether they were respectful.The one at the front she can kick rocks and her coworker at front can too.I was always taught to mock weirdos and hateful ppl with kindness and that’s exactly what I did

Sentra ER was amazing to us last night. 01/08/21 I took my son to the ER around 10pm. They were able to get us checked in and seen in a timely manner. The whole staff there was amazing and kind. They transferred us to CHKD for my son to have his appendix removed. Thank you Sentara for taking care of my child, for being so compassionate and caring about your patients. 🤍 -Nicole & Kaden

We went here to the ER for an eye emergency for my young son. Everyone was professional and we were seen promptly. Mark was extremely helpful and kind. He went out of his way to make us feel reassured and explained everything he did. My son felt better and he was given treatment. I highly recommend them!

The lady at the front counter was nice, the triage lady that took my vitals and things was a little rude, but still did her job. The doctor was one of the nicest doctors I’ve ever had. They had me in and out within the hour. Just make sure your staff isn’t annoyed with the job they’re doing.

I've been to this Sentara location numerous times due to underlying medical conditions. The ER department is the best! Then I took my adult son there during a major gout flare-up. He had a blood clot, and needed some very expensive medicine. I was almost in tears when I called because I did not have the money to afford the prescription. I called and talked with Joanie, ER department, explained my situation then she spent most of her day helping us get there prescription. Thank you, Joanie and Sentara!

Walked in with my 84 year old mom and they checked her in and took her back immediately for x-ray. Walked back to waiting room and called her for labs as soon as we sat!! Excellent service!

I know a lot of people have different experiences with this facility but I on the other hand have been here 3 times for the Emergency room department and the first time wasn’t the best but I think it was because there were a lot of patients there and mine wasn’t really necessarily an emergency but it was late at night and I needed care. My second and third time coming here for care was amazing. The second time I had a PA help with my foot and he had us in and out within an hour. My third time I had a kidney stone I was in so much pain and they were able to do blood work, the I.V., ultrasound, and pain meds within an hour and a half. They were quick and efficient and very compassionate. The doctors and nurses are wonderful here I just think some people in triage and the front desk security or whatever they are need to be weeded out. They are rude and not very compassionate at all. To be in the medical field you have to be otherwise you’re not going to get good reviews and it’s going to deter people from coming here for care. When I went in for my foot the front desk woman were talking about a woman that had came in trying to get care and the woman was upset I’m not sure why and it’s none of my business but they were saying very rude things about her talking about her weight and her body. It’s okay to talk about stuff but when it gets to the point where you’re making fun of someone and talking about their personal stuff it becomes a HIPPA issue and these people either need further training, they need to get counseled, or they need to be terminated. They are the face of the emergency room and they are making the nurses and the doctors look bad. I’m hoping someone sees this and does something about it because every time I have come here I have dreaded talking to the front desk/ security people. Chances are these people need to find another profession. They need to go work at Walmart or something.

We went to Virginia Beach to vacation when I started having pain on my left side, I googled and found this place. By the time I got there I was in so much pain I was crying hysterically. I had a kidney stone and they pretty much knew right away. They got me pain medicine as quickly as possible and got me a CT scan to be sure. They fixed me up and saved our vacation 😁 the nurses and doctors were super nice even while I was frustrated in pain and I really appreciated that. I just got a get well card in the mail signed by the staff, y'all are amazing.

Went to the ER last night , Bayside saved my life and my baby's . Due to EVMS' negligence I could have died and Bayside Emergency Room saved my life. All the Nurses who treated me were very kind , (PA Anna, Nurses Lumin and Kristen), and the doctor on call last night. I will be calling sentara to personally praise them , as they were quick , gentle , and very attentive. When that call button went off they were right there :) .

Excellent care from the staff when emergency services took me to this location. Joel in the ER Department was very thoughtful and did everything in his power to make me comfortable. I genuinely appreciate the level of care received at this hospital in my time of need.

Took forever and they weren't even that busy at all. My wife got seen in the ER for intense abdominal pain, but only after I stepped out into the hallway with an angry look on my face one and a half hours of waiting......

Bayside er is absolutely wonderful. I had to go there this past sat and sun for help. The staff and doctors were fantastic. They did everything they could do to help me. Very courteous and and caring. Would go there again if needed.
