I have brought my kids here multiple times to be seen for various appointments, the staff on day shift is awesome but we had one night where my daughter was going to have to stay over night and she has high functioning autism and she wanted all of us to stay to support her but the night staff forced us to go by sending in a caseworker in to us asking if we had a place to stay, as if we were homeless, it was an insult to us. So only my wife stayed even though my daughter screamed for us to stay too. We had to calm her down and wait for her to sleep to actually be able to leave. She was released the very next day after day shift helped her through her difficult visit. All in all it’s a good hospital but the night staff don’t seem to have much compassion for family needs.

My daughter came into the ER Tuesday afternoon with possible appendicitis. The doctors, nurses and staff worked quickly and diligently to ensure my child was taken care of quickly and we had the answers we needed. She had surgery within a few short hours and our family had a nice place to wait for her. Another amazing thing Riley has is staff members calling parents to give frequent updates during surgery. This helped us so much. We weren't left wondering if our child was ok or how her body responded to anesthesia. It helped so much. Thankfully this has been our first trip to Riley and it has been a true blessing.

We unfortunately had to spend a few days here after a head injury on my 2 year old son. Everyone we came across was wonderful! They were all so good with my son and you could tell they all genuinely cared. We missed Halloween at home, but they came around and did reverse trick or treating and gave all the kids a teddy bear and a ball. They even gave them a brand new costume if they didn't have one! We also got to attend their Halloween party and they gave us even more goodies there. It was an unfortunate situation, but they know how to make the best of it! I'm so thankful for the wonderful people there and how my son was treated!

Definitely Recommend this hospital !! It took me 4 hours to get there, but the drive was definitely worth it my 2 month old baby has been in different hospitals from a birthmark giving him so much pain and I was always sent home with no clear answer ! His pediatrician recommended Riley’s and I saw the difference in my baby right away he was feeling much better! they did everything to find out what was wrong, my baby now smiles and sleeps more :)

Father In Law had heart surgery done, procedure went well and all was good. Doc Brown, I swear, was awesome, as well as all of the other medical staff. The waiting area we're all very comfortable and the food in the cafes we're all delish. Follow the fish. Riley is my friend's name. Free pizza in the fun room but we didn't take advantage. I hope I don't ever have to bring my kids to Riley, but I will if I need to.

My grandson goes there for his cystic fibrosis. The doctors, nurses, techs, dietitians are great with him! My complaint is, when your grandson can barely breathe and you go to your car and an idiot employee is outside smoking beside our car!

I only giving 4 stars because I feel like they are making this children's hospital less kid friendly! My daughter is 25 yrs old and been coming here since birth and it seems they are taking all the kid friendly that has always been out in the open out!! I also feel like they need to make better accommodations for families in surgery waiting rooms such as lockers, working televisions, snack machines/eating area inside surgery waiting rooms!! When parents are here no matter your child’s age 2 to 30 they are under enough stress why does everything have to be so far away from each other!! Definitely need lockers/lockable cubbies to put your child’s things in while in surgery, families should not have to tote around their child’s clothing/belongings! I love this hospital and am thankful but, let’s really accommodate the families and their needs while they are here along with getting it back to completely being kid friendly!!!

The kidney specialist here are amazing!! My son was here over the holidays took about a month to get him back home with us. The doctors are easy to reach even after hours. Very thankful to have such a wonderful children’s hospital in our state.

Riley's was fantastic and prompt in the treatment of my daughter in regards to her hospital admission. Every nurse on floor 9 was kind and attentive. I would like to give Keegan C. on floor 9 a shout out as he is one of the nurses that goes above and beyond the call of their job. He's an absolute gem and treated my daughter wonderfully. He made an attempt to bond with her to help ease the overall stress of her situation. He offered me help and reminded me that it's also important that the caregivers receive care themselves. He even would stop to ask if she needed anything before he would leave (she's 2y). That's not something I've ever seen anyone do before due to her young age (this is our 6th hospital stay- first Riley's). She's not very vocal yet with strangers, but I appreciate that he was giving her an opportunity to be heard. It a situation like this where children have very little choice this can make a world of difference as they navigate their medical journeys. You did right by hiring Keegan, Riley's. The world needs more nurses like him.

The front staff were awesome with my son. Also very fast. The young lady at the check in before you enter the hospital was very helpful. As for the security guard at the front desk with the name Beavers. She was very unhelpful thus the reason for my 3 star. I arrived with my 1 year old and 16 year old. I guess they assumed the 16 year old was an adult so I explained that she was a child. The security guard continued on about how they wouldn't let her back. Not sure why considering it's a children's hospital and there were other parents in the waiting room with 2 kids. The young lady at check in offered to go check and they said it was fine. The security guard went through our stuff and gave it to us. We politely thanked her and she just completetely ignored us. She gave us false information and had no customer service skills what so ever. She definitely needs retraining and a better attitude. Besides that my experience was fine.

I hope whomever is important so that someone is recognized reads this review. Brought my granddaughter to the ER today. She has on going medical issues she is treated for here and we drove 2 1/2 hours to bring her in for an emergency situation. We have never been to the ER before so we were clueless and with COVID it was even more stressful. 2 of the the security team helped my daughter and granddaughter to get the right door and directed me to the correct parking. The attendant outside at the ER should be recognized for her excellent customer service skills. So kind, helpful gracious, just a wonderful employee right there and I watched her with others and she was the same with everyone. Stressful situation made a bit less stressful by your great employees.

We usually get great service (not so much in the ER) but this was a text my sister in law sent me after visiting us while inpatient: I feel like Riley isn't made as kid friendly as it used to be though. Myself hubby and 2 youngest boys were in a car wreck and my 2yo broke his tibia, he was transformed here from Methodist(hate that place) he had to go by himself because I was still in the ER cause of the wreck, they updated me every hour with him answered all my calls, returned all my calls, and when I picked him up they pulled him out in a wagon they had give. Him a new outfit a few toys and a brand new car seat because ours was destroyed in the car wreck( car caught fire after the wreck) Then once we were home a nurse called to follow up, I was unable to reach the outpatient people to make an appointment and she was able to reach and make the appointment for me. Then at the follow up appointment, they were extremely kind, it was a little bit of a wait to see the Dr but over all it was a great experience, with all the stress of the car wreck they made this part very easy for our family !! Thank you

I took my infant son to urology and let me say almost everyone we met with was very kind and compassionate from the security guards to the surgeon. As a first time mom who worries way too much they really helped me put my fears aside and find the right treatment plan for my son . Dr. Szymanski and the admin assistant Chelsea Ramey answered all of my ridiculous questions with a positive and polite attitude. Thank you Riley hospital for hiring people with such great moral compasses!

I’m not sure if anyone will see this, but the nurses here were truly special. They made me feel so cared for and were incredibly thorough. This was the best hospital experience anyone in my family has ever had. Everyone who cared for me was so kind and made sure I felt okay. This staff is truly so special.

I had to take my son to the ER at Riley on new years eve/new year morning with side pain that was making him double over. The ER team were able to rule out a lot possibilites for his pain. Appears that my poor son had a kidney stone! The doctors and nurses showed care and patience with my son who is 6 and was having a tough time telling them about his pain. Thank you for the care and comfort you showed my son. He seems to have passed the stone and is on the mend to being a kid again!

Let me start with saying my daughter was a Riley baby and has her picture up in the Simon Tower when the Fullers donated a generous amount of money. I have always loved Riley’s Children Hospital we spent more time a Riley then we did home for many years as far back as when they had the Modules on the 5th floor. The Doctors was amazing hands down , the surgeons was amazing, staff all the way down to the housekeeping was amazing. The last time I was at Riley was in 2016. I had to bring my son back this year in January and back again today actually we are here now and Each time when I have to come in this ER I am saddened by what I see and hear with the staff, I just want to know what happened to the compassion, the warmth , the pleasant insuring smiles and greetings. I don’t know what happened but someone dropped the ball somewhere on the hiring Aspect. And it’s not about the hour wait just to be seen but when you don’t have that insuring staff it makes the wait difficult. I can’t believe it I’m just so sad. I pray it gets better because whenever I would here someone talking about Riley in a negative way you would have thought I built it myself because I would argue someone down about Riley. Now I see why they speak such words and I’m heart broken. They HAVE to do BETTER.

For the past 15 years, I have been in excruciating pain. My hip and back hurt with every step! I loved to hike, swim and was very active! Then one day my life changed when someone on a cell phone used my vehicle for brakes causing my injury. I have cried myself to sleep due to the pain. I have seen multiple Drs for my injury, had multiple cortisone shots, medication, and nothing relieved my pain. I took an average of 10 to 12 ibuprofen a day when I went off all the medication I was being prescribed. On bad days, an additional 6 tylenol. This was causing havoc to my stomach and I knew I needed to find an alternative. I asked my Dr to refer me to a hip Dr to talk about getting a new hip - I just couldn't deal with the pain, upset stomach from too much ibuprofen and the lack of activity. I had an appointment with Dr Aaron Watters, beginning of the summer, who went into great detail about what a hip replacement would entail. I said - yes put me on the schedule, this pain is too much to deal with. He goes - sounds good, I will get you on the waiting list. Due to coronavirus. Then he asked me if I wanted a shot to reduce my pain. Anyone who has had a cortisone shot knows how bad they hurt. I told him, I have had so many shots that just puffed me up and didn't get any relief from them. He promised, it wouldn't hurt, and that it would relieve some of my pain. I was desperate for pain relief, I said, I have nothing to lose, so yeah. Let's try it and see how it goes! It went way better, than I ever anticipated, and it didn't even hurt! For the first time in over a decade I was able to hike, swim, and kayak without being in excruciating pain. Making all those state parks, and mountains more beautiful when climbing them! At my last appointment, he told me he also worked at Riley's Children Hospital as well as Eskenazi. Two very beautiful hospitals. I thought to myself, those Riley kids are so lucky to have him as their Dr! This stuff isn't fun for easy for an adult so I can imagine how overwhelming it can be for kids!, or even their parents! Rest assured Riley Kids and parents, He's an awesome Dr and has a great demeanor, explains things in terms that are easy to understand! As a patient, I would strongly recommend him as your Ortho Dr. without any hesitation. Your kids will be in awesome hands while receiving care, he's also served our country as well.

The staff and doctors here at Riley's Children's Hospital go above and beyond taking care of so many different children. My daughter is a GI patient and liver transplant recipient. If not for this hospital and the wonderful staff my daughter would not be here today. Thank you Riley Hospital for saving my daughter's life.

I’ll call this one mom nerves. My 15 broke her ankle and I took her to the closest hospital at the time. I’m a mother of three and 37. I knew when I was not in route to Riley. I was making the wrong decision. Needless to say my daughter was “seen” given no pain meds. Told it was a clean beak and to follow up the following week. That was the worst week ever! She was in pain. So much pain. And her whole leg was swollen and no matter how we elevated it or didn’t, the swelling wouldn’t go down. My mom nerves had had enough. I took her to Riley. Found she had broken her ankle in two places and chipped a bone in her leg. Imagine!! The moment we pulled up to Riley. Valet was kind and courteous. When triaging her they immediately called ortho and had them on the line. And the care she received, made it possible for this mom to fully breath again. A breath of fresh air took on a whole new meaning!! Carleigh. Mara. The woman who transported her to X-ray. The different doctors.Nurses. Outstanding job! I saw my not so little baby lol immediately feel better. And I did too. My gratitude. Our gratitude. Cannot be expressed in words. But still. Thank you. Moms. This is what you’re looking for. You can tell the core values and training within this hospital, well. It exceeds anything I’d hope for. Riley is like, a big group of parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, you know. Like the healers of different families got together and said. Let’s all work at Riley! I felt my child was safe and in the best hands. And you don’t understand the relief it gives to a parent. That was our first (and hopefully last) time experiencing a broken bone. They spoke with us and explained the injury. Which allowed us both to understand her pain. They explained what needed to happen going forward. And we now have a map to our road of recovery. Thanks y’all. 💙🥰🙏🏾

My daughter had a minor surgery here and everyone made us feel at ease and comfortable. When I say everyone I mean everyone, from the first face we saw as we went in the door to the folks who took care of us when we were ready to go. We thought our daughter was going to be extremely afraid and such but everyone managed to put her at ease. The doctor was professional but still managed to make my daughter laugh a bit and put her at ease.

Fantastic hospital with friendly staff and knowledgeable physicians and nurses. They have done their very best to get my son seen quickly and at a time that works for us (we have to travel to get here). The doc (Dr. Puri, Peds GI) is very thorough, well-versed in her field and good at making sure that she has the clear input of parents before making recommendations for treatment. Highly, highly recommend. If you have to travel, it's worth the trip!

Very rapid triage. We were in a room in 5 min and saw Fellow physician in another 5 min. Attending Dr. Tyler Arnold was excellent. Calm, knowledge, explained things 2 or 3 different ways until we understood what was going on with our kiddo. All around excellent, reassuring, professional staff. No negatives whatsoever.

My daughter had 2 surgeries in 2015 one I'm Sept and one in dec. The staff was AWESOME!! When I say staff I mean from doctors, nurses, therapist to housekeeping. We purchased the meal tickets since we were there a few days and the food.was great. My daughter loved the spaghetti:)

My daughter was admitted in the NICU for jaundice and the staff couldn't have been better. It brings me to teara how friendly and accommodating everyone was, from the doctors, to the nurses to the receptionists. Amanda was new and had no experience putting in a catheter in a newborn. I requested that the head nurse do it cause I had a bad experience with a previous "new" nurse. They were super supportive and did not pass judgement. They respected my request and Amanda was phenomenal throughout our entire stay. If any of my kids need medical care, we will only go to Riley.

My son see several doctors here and we love it. Even with a rare metabolic disorder that no one is able to treat Riley Hospital staff is always there. It is our home away from home. Great Hospital nurses and on call doctors are always willing to help.

I think out of all my nights at Riley I had only one bad day. Very caring staff. Always had decent food. Which is important when your stuck in a room with no way to get more! Love the Ronald's McDonald house and their home cooked meals for parents.

There is no doubt that the staff at riley cares for our kids, but does the hospital care for the parents? We live over 2 hours away. The cost to drive to Riley is expensive. And hotels in indy are very expensive. With Ronald McDonald house closed due to covin19 its forcing families to sleep in their cars while their children are in the hospital. And I think something needs to be done about that

Absolutely amazing hospital. Very caring staff all around. Took my newborn in for vomiting and they ended up catching that he had pyloric stenosis right away. The surgery team here is amazing.

Riley Children's Hospital is the BEST!!! Has done my Daughter right in alot of ways!!! St Vincent's was trying to convince me to take my daughter off of life support, and whereas Riley's has done everything to help my daughter!!!

My son had an outpatient procedure done by Dr. Ben Whittam at Riley Urology. I was so impressed with the level of professionalism, quick response, and encouragement I received from the individuals at Riley. I was encouraged to call with any concerns and so I did one night and my concerns were passed to the on call doctor. I wish I could remember her name, but she was quick to call me, back, took my concerns, and made sure my sons doctor knew about them. After Dr. Whittam was informed that night he requested the information From the on call doctor and they consulted on my question and assured me everything was fine. I was so impressed that Dr. Whittam took the time at home to make sure his patient, my son, was safe and healing. I thank you all, not just for the care of my son, but for the work you put in every day.

The ER is a nightmare! The ER staff is very rude. I understand that the staff is frustrated due to the high volume however the patients should not be treated or spoken to in that manner. The parents are already under stress. The staff should be more caring in the ER and helpful not rude and disrespectful like we are in their way. When we got a room upstairs evey RN, Doctor, PCA, and everyone involved are great! U you can tell they love what they do. Thank you Riley!

MY SON BEAT BRAIN CANCER HERE IN 2016. WE ARE BACK AND HAD A BRAIN BIOPSY YESTERDAY. FOUND TWO NEW SPOTS EARLIER IN FEBRUARY. AWAITING RESULTS BUT THESE DOCS, NURSES ALL THE WAY TO HOUSEKEEPING ARE THE MOST CARING SOULS ON EARTH THAT I KNOW. I TRUST THEM WITH MY SON'S LIFE.♥️🎗 UPDATE: 2 DAYS LATER...ITS BACK. WE ARE GOING HOME FOR A WEEK TO PREPARE FOR TAKE II. RILEY WILL SAVE HIM AGAIN FOR THE FINAL TIME. WE WILL BE HERE FOR A GOOD 5 MONTHS. #echobravoyankeestrong Started ICE Chemo and completed on April 4th. 5 days of strong chemo and now home and doing very well. Riley Hospital has our hearts. Such a fabulous experience with the hemonc nurses! They are always right on anything we need and give great information! Update! My son has finished treatment. Three stem cell transplants later we are about to have his final MRI scans and central line taken out. It's been a long rough year but we've made it and he is doing fabulous. Once again...no one but Riley could care as much for my son and my own sanity. Thank you Riley!!!! December 6th and hes about to return to school, get his driver's license and hike the Appalachian trail in 2021. Update...again! Remission Accomplished!! Thank you Riley and all of your experts. You saved my son's life a second time!

Riley has saved 2 of my grandchildren 's lives. 1 at 9 weeks of age and is now a spunky, thriving 3 year old. The 2nd my 6 month old grandson who wss brought in last week and is still in the hospital there. I can't thank them enough for the care they give. Every nurse that pours their heart into the great care as if those children are their own. I will not pass up a donation site for Riley or Ronald McDojMcDonald house again without donating. I went to Riley's when I was 9 years old. As a patient, I loved it. I was in ICU for 16 days and they had a cart that went around full of toys to choose from. They also had game systems in the ICU rooms and you could rent games in their library.

Wonderful internationally known doctors, anesthesiologists I would trust with my life, nurses who care about their jobs, child life people who know just how to talk to the children and distract them at appropriate times...all in all it's a wonderful place to go! I have never been to Riley before, but my nephew Gunnar was unfortunately this weekend due to low oxygen levels, a fever, and trouble breathing. He had a bronchoscopy done that produced 3 chunks of peanut in his lungs. Well they were able to extract those and he's back to normal now! Thanks guys for saving his life! It was a really scary few hours for our family Saturday night! He loved the Ambulance ride from Martinsville though! Usually a 2 yr old wouldn't have any part of that, but he loved it! Thanks for taking so much care of him, my sister and brother-in-law! There isn't enough words for how thankful we are that you guys helped him out!

Best Childrens hospital. I can honestly say they did all they could for my son when he was complaining of something stuck in the back of his throat. I also observed them with very sick children. It's heart breaking but this hospital gives them hope

My daughter was here years ago for asthma related problems and ended up being hospitalized. I had problems with people being in my daughter's hospital room that should not had been in there and they took care of it:) they took care of my daughter very well:)

REALLY!?! OUTPATIENT SURGERY CENTER!! My ONE & ONLY complaint with this place is that this is a CHILDREN'S Hospital & there are a lot of toys here for ALL the kids to play with! When they took us back to get out baby ready for his surgery & inform us on everything about it. I HAD TO BITE MY TOUNGE SO SONE COULD GET HIS SURGERY DONE CAUSE THE NEXT NURSE THAT CAME IN I COULDN’T BELIEVE! My 3 yr old son asked her if he could play with one of the 3 toys sitting across the hall (remind you he is 3, we’ve been sitting in this room for 2 hrs he has been eyeing this toys the whole time & been so good) he didn’t care if it was the doll house he just wanted a toy & she said yes if it’s ok with your mommy. I said yes of course it’s ok he can play with witch ever one he wants. He runs out there to pick one & then comes back and says NO SORRY YOUR NOT THE PATIENT ONLY THE PATIENTS CAN PLAY WITH THE TOYS! REALLY B**** WE SHOULD HAVE SPENT A TOTAL OF THREE HOURS THERE WE SPENT ALMOST SEVEN & MY SON COULDN'T PLAY WITH TOYS BECAUSE HE WASN'T THE PATIENT!! WHAT A CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL!?!?
