I actually made a point to to tell my doctor that I was so happy with osh -- from the friendly people on the phone to the quality of medical treatment. I like the proactive mindset. I have no problems with getting my medications refilled.

The young lady who took my blood pressure did not introduce herself. Dr Chizek was fine. She came in with a young man. She did not introduce him to me. She did not ask my permission to have someone else in the room. He was dressed like he didn't have time to change into proper work clothes. You need to enforce your dress code. Nobody under 40 knows or cares how to look proper when meeting clients.

I like my PCP which is the primary reason I keep going to Oak Street Health. They also have computers and hosted activities for seniors but that was before Covid. The one thing I didn't like was the hard sell that they do to get patients on Humana. Humana has higher prescription drug costs than many other plans and terrible dental and vision coverage. They aren't the best option for everyone but you won't hear that from the insurance reps at Oak Street. This isn't just my experience. I spoke to two other people who described the same Humana hard sell that I experienced. Oak Street Health accepts a wide variety of Medicare and Medicare+ plans so if you're happy with your current insurer don't let them pressure you into switching to Humana. Other than that my experience going to Oak Street Health has been positive.

Initial visit was handled professionally. The insurance team was exceptional. I nurse/practitioner I saw was genuinely interested in me. The only thing that bothered me was that the medical transcriber who accompanied the nurse/practitioner was a male and I felt uncomfortable about asking some questions so I didn't.

All accommodations were made to make a person feel as comfortable as possible even when there is infirmity, nervousness, or lack of understanding. It is so important for the care provider to really listen and to acknowledge what the patient is feeling! I felt comfortable there.

I was very skeptical at first but the staff and Nurse Practitioner provided magnificent service and were very professional. Elfega Gomez the NP is one fine individual. She really cares and is very understanding. Diamond at the front desk is a real pro and works very hard to schedule appointments that are convenient for you. They offer a wide variety of services and can refer you to a specialist if necessary. They are about preventing a major health issue as well as treating a current medical issue. The clinic is very bright with clear windows and nice decor. Attend!!!

I have been going to Oak Street Health since they opened. I can understand that some may have difficulty with the staff, but they continue to get better and better as they mature and get better acquainted with their patients. For who they are and what they do for the community I applaud them and the total services that they offer. Yes, they might be understaffed to answer phones within the first four rings, but have you ever tried calling Loyola, Northwestern, St. Josephs etc..? I waited 45 minutes today for scheduling at Loyola Medical Center. So if that is the only complaint that one may have good luck with that.! I can only speak on the wonderful and kind service I have gotten from Oak Street Devon Avenue Health Center. However, not that I have'nt had a difficult time with one of the "Professionals". I just requested that they change the person off my charge. Problem solved. You cant always get along with everybody. So don't damn the place. They serve a huge hole in the community and I am glad that they are here.
