My experiences at Rio Grande Family medicine have all been positive, from the front staff to my health provider Dawn and her assistant. Dawn has been thorough and has taken her time answering questions and explaining information. Her assistant is very good about contacting me and giving me information. I feel good about this place and it has been a while since I have felt this way about a medical place or health care provider.

I hate change...when Dr Khulsa retired, I was sad because she was the best. However, meeting my new provider was great. Furthermore, she was able to resolve a medical/financial issue I was having with a different provider that will end up saving me thousands! I was in tears; I was so thankful. If looking for a great primary care provider with personal flare...no need to look further! When there, take a moment to enjoy the amazing view from the parking lot. One of my favorites views that overlook our fair city.

This was the first time seeing a new provider there. Candace was great, they were on time and I definitely was satisfied with the new provider. On a side note, prior to that I saw Dr. Khalsa and loved her too. Was bummed to hear she left, but happy with my new provider. Also the medical assistants for both providers were great.

The Family Nurse Practitioner (F-NP) was very attentive, thorough and professional. She listened to my concerns, reviewed my medical history and gave me the documents I needed for radiology exams. I have not been able to find a compassionate, skilled provider that I can return to when needed. Updated -often phone not answered and when it is, I have to leave voicemail for med assistant. Patient portal often does not work. Very difficult to communicate with office but I will keep waiting, for now anyway, since I cannot get another PCP.

They charge prior to my visit Last time there was a peer outage so. I couldn’t see the doctor Because I had been charged prior to being seen I had to call and remind them it should have been a credit. I was also told that the young guy made this last appointment and listed that I was interested in anti depressants. Also I was told that my appointment listed only that I needed a letter for limited standing but I was there(and paid a copay) for a diabetic check up and to go over on my lab results from Tricore. I only met with Dawn for 5 minutes which is fine but I was charged $25 at check-in. Otherwise everyone is nice

the staff here are friendly and professional. Yet I was disappointed by the physician who saw me, that she didnt even do a physical on me. Wanting instead to get all the paperwork from a former doctor. She didnt even check my lungs or ears, as most doctors do for the first time. Especially when I told them I have asthma. And I told her that I am a self pay and have to watch my expenses. So what do she do, order all kinds of bloodwork. NOT HAPPY!

Meghan Parry and her nurse Jessica were absolutely wonderful. I actually felt relaxed at the doctors which never happens. Wait time was standard, upfront staff were efficient and courteous. I am new to this practice and I have to say this is one of the most attentive, caring, compassionate, safe providers I've come across in a long while. My provider listened and truly took the time to hear my chief complaints. I feel I am receiving the best care to meet my needs from a physician. They accept most insurances and saw me right away being a new patient whereas another practice wanted me to wait two months. I can go on and on you just have to experience it yourself! This is a very nice facility with a very professional and friendly staff. I see Dr. Sharma and she's just fabulous. It took me about two weeks to get an appointment - not bad at all, considering the doctor shortage. Anyway, she listened to my concerns and told me a little about what my symptoms could mean and then she referred me to get some blood work done, so we could find some real answers. What was even better was that there was a tricore lab right next door, so I was able to walk over and get my blood work done the same day. I was able to see her the following week and she explained to me what my blood work results meant. Then, she referred me to another specialist who works specifically with people with my condition. I'm now on a much healthier path. I was so impressed with the service I received and how fast the turn-around on everything was. I'm definitely going to keep going to this place and seeing Dr. Sharma as my PCP.

Dr. Cardwell is our PCP and she is also a Dermatologist. The Dermatology is a very important factor to a couple of seniors with sun damaged skin. Dr. Cardwell is very professional, prompt and complete in her care for us. The Clinic it's self is wonderful, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Know how most waiting room chairs are built for cardboard people, well the chairs in this clinic actually fit people. Another very important factor for us is that we do not have to wait past our appointment time. This can be very frustrating to an elderly person who can become exhausted by sitting in a waiting room past a designated time. Especially for me, because I become very angry when I am forced to wait. I feel that my time is as important as any one else's. In the five years that I have attended this clinic I have never had to wait past my appointment time more than a few minutes. Have a problem, it is corrected at once by the management group. I had an incident where the phone system did not function properly. I reported it and when I called back in an hour it was fixed. I think this kind of attention to problems and a really wonderful staff that are concerned about the patient go a long way toward making a person feel better.

Whoever here who's taking their anger out on Dr. Khalsa whether that be for not filling their medication or for not visiting them in time are a little too quick to judge. In reality this doctor truly cares about your individual physical and mental WELL-BEING more than any other psychiatrist or "doctor" out there. The reason why you're waiting 45+ minutes is because she's assessing each and every patient she has on a personal level, like a good doctor should absolutely be doing. Trust me, unless a it's life-threatening prescription for medication, she is doing you a favor by not filling those meds if her intuition says that you don't even need them in the first place. Go to someone else if you want to make a borderline illegal drug transaction that does nothing but mask/treat your problems, but visit Dr. Khalsa if you want to be treated with care by an honest and genuine doctor who sincerely cares for your health, probably even more than you do, and actually treat the problem. And for those of you criticizing her for not being a good enough doctor because she hasn't memorized a million different terms and can't pinpoint one that caters to your own specific agenda that you probably took 8 minutes to look up on Google prior to your visit, this woman has spent 8 years of her own life in medical school to help YOU. Maybe instead of idealizing a pill pusher and trained MD who rushes you in and kicks you out to get to the next patient on time, have some f**king respect for the doctors that actually have integrity, morals and ethics whilst practicing and care for YOUR OWN PHYSICAL AND MENTAL WELL-BEING in a completely money-driven industry that we call healthcare, for god's sake.

I have seen both Dr. Shama and Mohammad Al-Raie. They rock! Both are great listeners. I have been able to get in for same-day appointments when sick, and have a really good relationship with the staff. I live about five blocks away, so for me the location is convenients. It is also close to my pharmacy, Highland Pharmacy, and a Tri-core where I get my lab work done, which makes the process really easy.

Visiting Rio Grande Family Medicine and working with their doctors, practitioners, and team has been a great experience for me, encouraging me to take an active approach to managing my health and addressing concerns. Everyone should have access to healthcare as personal and supportive as this! 4/23/2023 It’s maybe a year or two later and my opinion hasn’t changed. As someone who used to see a doctor every five to seven years, the good service I’ve received from the team and, now, two providers has had me returning regularly and feeling free to note things I’m concerned about instead of waiting until an emergency. I understand this is how healthcare is supposed to work!

The information revealed at my visit was certainly helpful. I was pleased to find out additional test results from several months ago which allowed me to plan my routine. However, the assistant , when doing my blood pressure, managed to squeeze the blood pressure cuff too hard which hurt my whole arm and my heart rate went sky high that I needed to take long, deep breaths to lower the beats. She then tested the same arm 10-15 minutes later to compare which made my arm sore for the rest of the day. My hand hurt into the night. I told a nurse assistant that I work with about it and she said you normally redo a high blood pressure but on the other arm. This office has a high turnover of assistants which is a concern.
