I had a wonderful 1st time experience having my curly hair cut by Janessa. She was knowledgeable and could “read” my hair which what I needed. I didn’t have specific look in mind but was open to a cut to encourage my curls. She taught me how to use products But I was never pressured into buying their products. But I did! They work great! Yes it costs more but Definitely going back!

I was able to get an appointment promptly, and after an understandable scheduling issue with my original stylist, Teresa offered to work me into her schedule the same day. She offered a wealth of information and tips on managing and styling wavy-curly hair. I left feeling uplifted and educated! I haven’t had a haircut done by a stylist in about four years. After being burned by stylist after stylist not knowing how to work with curly hair, I cut my own hair for four years and recently decided to find a curly specialist. I was so nervous for the appointment, I nearly cancelled it. Liz took care of me today, and she was amazing. She gave me my first dry cut, and took the time explaining techniques and the science behind caring for curly hair. Today, for the first time in years, I walked out with a cut that I love. I feel so confident and happy. If you’re scared like I was, just take the dive!

This is the most I have ever spent on a haircut and it was 100% worth it. I've struggled with hormonal hair loss for years and could never find a stylist that could make my fine, low density curly hair look GOOD. Kudos to Claudia, she is amazing. I have been using twisted hare for over four years now. I have even started taking my children here because turns out they have curly hair too. I get a high-quality cut every time I go. And the service is excellent, I’ve had a few occasions where I have ended up wanting a little more trim after coming home, or I noticed that something was a little off, and they had no problem fixing it immediately and without charge and with no anger or fuss. They have even offered to have me come in to get my edges trimmed for free to help this short haired pixie style survive looking great in between bigger cuts. I would highly recommend them to anyone with curly hair!

My stylist had great suggestions on what type of cut I should get. I decided to go with her recommendations and I absolutely LOVE it! It's the best haircut I've had in a long time! This salon is great. They are very knowledgeable about curly hair, but when I want a wet (normal) cut in the winter months they accommodate that too! Heather is always very intentional when lightening my hair and looks out for the health of my hair while still giving me the look I want. The salon is very clean and the shampoo bowls are my favorite...you LAY DOWN at them and there is no uncomfortable neck pain! If you have curly hair (or not?) come here!

I love the Twisted Hair Salon! I've been going there regularly for several years, and they are able to cut my wavy hair to maximize my curl. Other salons don't seem to understand curly hair as well. I waited until I made a few trips with the kids to the Twisted Hare before posting a review. I've been there three times now with my 12 year old daughter and 6 year old son. This is not a cheap salon, but beyond getting a curly cut, the stylists here really provide excellent advice and role modeling to my daughter. Encouragement and guidance on appearance and style from women that she can look up to is PRICELESS. It's a pampering experience but without any pretense. Everyone is welcoming I've never been worried about asking dumb question. I'm not a professional reviewer but I like this place enough to encourage you to go as well.

I am very particular on my hair and it is hard for me to stand up for myself. I liked the cut but it was not what I was looking for. I felt like there was a lack of communication on my bang length and exactly how much was to be taken off. My overall hair also ended up MUCH shorter than I wanted. It needed to be because it had a lot of dead ends but I felt my opinion didnt matter. I also hope that they ask more clients in the future for allergies or if they are sensitive to smells because lavender and citrus smells can be an irritant for some people. Also the random sit up or fo this or lying down motion felt agitated and not attentive to my needs considering I have spinal fusion but they didnt seem to recognize my difficulty. I got great feedback and learned how to better take care of my hair but I felt for the cost I could have learned that information online, and got a more attentive hair stylist elsewhere.

I wanted to love this salon. Like a lot. I am the lone curly girl in my family so I’ve been left to figure things out for myself most of my life. That being said, I highly valued the tips and information this salon was able to provide. They obviously know their stuff, and i took home a lot of new practices to get my hair looking how i want. The haircut itself is where I felt things fell short. I’ve seen multiple great reviews about Julia, and she is categorized as a senior stylist on their site, so I booked my appointment and got super pumped. I showed up to the salon 10 minutes before my appointment. Julia was 15 minutes late to start with my appointment, pretty reasonable considering it was the end of the day for them. I told her I wanted a style new, funky, and different, and showed her a picture of a cut i liked to which she said “oh you don’t want THAT though, do you?” I thought it was weird that she would say something like that, but I asked what she would do differently. She basically told me she liked my hair how it was and that she would add some dramatic layers like in the photo. Silly me, not being persistent about what I was asking for, I ended up with a haircut exactly like what I came in with, but a couple inches shorter. I figured I’d give it a chance and see if it looked any better after I styled it myself. When I wasn’t satisfied, I called to talk to the owner so she could at least talk to Julia about it. I was surprised to hear that she was willing to fix it herself at no charge, and even more surprised later to find that she had booked my appointment after hours so that she could give me her full attention. I was really impressed with the way Teresa handled things, and she gave me a better haircut, I just still feel like the cut missed the mark, even after an extra hour of tweaking. After all of that, this is not a bad salon by any means, I would say just not the salon for me. I was happy I went and talked to them and experienced a dry cut for the first time, but I don’t think I would pay that much to go back again.

Since I have been getting haircuts from Teresa my hair has grown so long (down to my lower back) and healthy - but also with help from their line of products such as Moptop and Innersense.

I spent years trying to find a salon/hair stylist I could trust to cut my hair (which is incredibly curly). I believe the worst experience I had was when I went to a hair appointment and the stylist had to ask her manager how to go about cutting my hair. Needless to say, I never really had more than a trim done. Then the day came when I desperately wanted a dramatic change to the length of my hair - thank goodness I complimented a woman on her haircut and she managed to recommend East 42nd Street Salon. Now when my curly-haired comrades ask me about my hair management, I do not hesitate to recommend it myself. Seriously, you can't go wrong here. They know what they are doing and you will leave with a hairstyle that is not remotely triangle-like (happy day!) and is perfectly lovely.

Love my new haircut! I have not had a cut I love for years until I tried East 42nd Street. My stylist took the time to listen to the look I was after and carefully dry cut each section to make it happen. She then gave a wash and conditioning treatment using their fantastic products, diffused it dry and rechecked the cut, fine tuning around my face for the perfect style. Loved the tilted, padded bed they have instead of those awkward chairs most salons use that hurt your neck. I'll be back for color and wax too. And thanks for NOT offering to straighten, blow out, or otherwise ruin my beautiful, natural curls!

Crissy did an excellent job and taught me how to properly form my curls. If you have curly hair, this is the place for you! There is a nice selection of gentle organic hair cleansing and styling products (InnerSense, primarily) available for purchase. I exclusively use the InnerSense organic cleanser, conditioner, leave-in conditioner, deep conditioner, and finishing spray, in addition to a couple of other products recommended by my stylist.

I didn’t even know there was such a thing as a salon for curly hair. I found a post on Nextdoor recommending Twisted Hare and WOW! This is, without a doubt, the best haircut I have had in my life. Liz explained so clearly the best way to wash and style my hair when I’m at home. She explained everything she did when cutting, styling and drying. Some I knew through research, but she taught me a lot! The only unfortunate thing, and it is absolutely no one’s fault, is I wasn’t able to pay when finished because of an issue with their POS. I paid later by phone but neglected to give Liz a much deserved tip! I’m so sorry Liz, I’ll get you double next time because I will definitely be back!

MJ was my stylist and she was amazing! My long time stylist from another salon left and I was dreading trying to find another person who was good with curly hair. I've had so many bad haircuts! This hair cut was amazing and the products and hair cut were reasonably priced for a nicer salon. The best part was that she showed me how to style it in a way that was easy and doable for me and my routine. MJ was easy to talk to and down to earth as well. I didn't feel weird about how bad my hair had gotten. Now my hair is easy and fast to style no blow dryer or major time consuming hair styling. I moved to the Twin Cities 2 1/2 years ago and have had nothing but really bad haircuts. I don't have super curly hair, but if it isn't cut right it looks like a hot mess. I'm going away next week and will undoubtedly run into my ex-fiance. The thought of him seeing me like this made me break out in hives. So, I Googled 'Curly Hair Salon' and up pops Twisted Hare. I'm familiar with the DevaCurl product, so with nothing to lose I made an appointment for a Curly Cut with MJ. First, this is not your typical haircut. She analyzed my (horrible) haircut and we discussed what needed to be done. She proceeded to cut my hair dry which, at first glance, looks like the technique of a 3 year old. But as she was cutting, an actual hairstyle emerged. Then she took me to the sink and used the DevaCurl No-Poo and conditioner on me. It was fascinating to see the whole process and to learn the right way to style curly hair. It's pretty elaborate, so I'm not sure if I have the commitment for it, but I learned a lot. I can honestly say I have finally found someone who knows how to cut my hair in Minnesota. Thankfully, I don't have to sell my house and move back to California. Thanks, MJ!!
