This place is my new go-to salon. Kate is amazing! She did a complete overhaul of my hairstyle (from long to short with bangs), and I absolutely love it! She took time to discuss my vision, walked me through each step of the cut/styling process, recommended products and gave upkeep tips (since I’ve never had bangs before!) - and she definitely delivered on the style!

BEST cut I’ve had in years!! Danielle was amazing! All the staff were super sweet and charming the entire time. Danielle looked at the pictures on my phone of the style I wanted and did an AMAZING job replicating the look (even asking if I wanted extra parts trimmed and further perfected). She neutrally gave me advice on what my hair could use more of in the future (in terms of maintenance and improved texture) and asked about the things I was using/how I was wearing it. I’ve never had a stylist who really cared about what I was looking for or who took the time to help perfect the look and keep it healthy until now. I will absolutely be making this place my regular hair salon now. Thank you!

This is an adorable salon housed in a classic South Minneapolis building. It is cozy and a little fancy. Michelle is my stylist. She's fantastic. She's so humble but so talented. She listens to you, and gives you a really good version of what you want. My hair is curly in the front, wavy everywhere else and she handles it better than most other stylists. She also cut my kids hair, 6 years old, woth no issue. It's not cheap, but not super expensive either. I'd say, worth it.

Terese is an excellent stylist and worth absolutely every penny. I had been bouncing between stylists, and not one of them told me how dried out my hair was. I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't hold a style. I thought it was just too long, but Terese explained that it was fried and proceeded to chop of inches, which desperately needed to happen. What's funny is my hair looks way thicker and fuller than it did before. If you're struggling with your hair, do yourself a favor and just book an appointment with Terese.

Got a super cute haircut this weekend with Dani! I came in needing a change, and she talked through my ideas and photos and totally delivered. The environment felt super safe, too - everyone is wearing masks and staff are taking precautions to wipe down things that guests use, like the shampoo chairs/bowls. Love the relaxed but professional energy at The Chair. Keep up the great work, all!

Everyone there is very professional and friendly! They have done a great job keeping everyone safe during this pandemic and can be so accommodating! When I needed a bang trim before a trip and had to bring my son unexpectedly, Danielle graciously cut my bangs outside on the sidewalk! Since they have a small space and I couldn’t bring my son in due to the pandemic, they went above and beyond to meet my needs. I was so very grateful. :) I drive all the way from St. Paul to get my hair cut.

I booked an appointment at The Chair after several disappointing visits to another well known salon. My first impression was the front desk lady that took my call. I explained what I was looking for and briefly that I’d just gotten my hair done at another salon. She said they’d love to work worth me but also encouraged me to offer feedback to my previous stylist. Right away this told me that this salon isn’t just about money they actually care about their clients. I took her advice and still decided to book an appointment with Danielle. After exploring a couple of options together I gave her a pretty tall order with a big change and a tricky color ask and she totally nailed it. She wasn’t afraid to be bold and that’s hard to find! Excited to have found my salon match :)

Great cut! Danielle listened to what I wanted, gave her opinion when I asked for it, and explained when I had questions about the techniques she used versus previous stylists I’ve had. She was also laid back and easy to chat to. I finally feel like I’ve gotten a cut that actually works for me and that I’ve been going for all this time. I will certainly return to Danielle, which is saying something, as I’ve almost never specifically gone back to the same stylist before.

Was checked in fast and seen right away. The salon is cute and very clean. Parking was not an issue. Patty cut and styled my hair and I loved it. They sell Aveda products and the receptionists are professional and sweet. Prices are competitive so nothing came as a shock when I paid up. $60 for a women's cut before tip. That's a little less than I was paying before switching salons, and far less than I have paid other stylists in the Uptown area. The going rate is around $90 for a women's cut. Overall, I recommend this salon for trendy and professional styles.

I've been seeing Kate for several years at The Chair and she is phenomenal - very personable, easy to talk to & really creative when it comes to mixing fun hair colors. She's really good with my slightly textured wavy/curly hair. The whole team is helpful and answers any questions I have. And they offer you something to drink which is nice for a treat-yourself-self care day! Even after moving to the other side of town, I still prefer coming here!

Wow! Okay...so I am not one of those "need a haircut" people...but I really did need one. :) It was SO great to go see my stylist Kate and it felt so good to get one of her amazing cut/styles after being away for so long (I was already overdue for one when covid closures hit). I always feel so welcomed and cared for, and now there are special safety measures in place at the salon, so very thoughtful for the well-being of all involved. So very glad to see The Chair holding down their beautiful corner in Minneapolis!

Kate Ness is my hairdresser, and she always does a great job on my hair. I have curly hair, and most hairdressers try to make it straight which almost never works. Kate goes with the flow--or the curl. She is also a terrific colorist. (If only she could do plastic surgery!) The atmosphere in The Chair is very relaxed and not rushed, which I like. And the chairs are very comfortable--haha--as they should be. The decor is cute, kind of kitschy, which I find very inviting. I recommend it to all my friends.

Anyways, Joey colored, cut and styled my hair and I couldn’t have been happier! He knew exactly what I wanted and watching him he looked dedicated to fulfilling my wishes for my hair. Such a gem! This salon is awesome, been coming here for over a year now and have seen several of the stylists. I usually come in for layers and a trim and the staff have all been so welcoming and open to my preferences. As soon as you walk in, they offer you a glass of beer, wine, or coffee while you wait. Then you head upstairs for a head massage and wash prior to the cut/dye. The salon is so adorable, I believe their owner Michael was the designer. There is the cutest light fixture in the room where you get your hair washed. Also go to the bathroom, very interesting! This time I saw Michelle. She is awesome, such a stand-up gal, very down to earth. Highly highly recommend her and this salon. Feels like family, no snobbishness here~

I've been going to Hannah at The Chair for my hair trims/cuts for probably five years or so now. Not only is she lovely, welcoming, and talented, but all of the staff who work the front desk are as well. I called to potentially cancel my hair trim tonight, due to a headache, but I'd have to wait another month for Hannah's next appointment. I couldn't wait. The best part? I kept my appointment for tonight, and the woman on the phone said "don't worry, we'll get you a nice tea, or a glass of wine, and we'll get you all taken care of." I really like this place -- definitely recommend it!

This place is the place of Dreams. Great stylists, great atmosphere, they make you feel like a noble while you're there. Relatively expensive haircuts, but the wash/rinse they do feels amazing, and I know at least Joey offers free beard and neck trims between haircuts!

My baby sister had been going to Heidi for years, and when I needed a cut I decided to go with Heidi. Best hair decision I've ever made. She is brilliant, kind, professional, and since I've been going to her for three years now she knows exactly what I love. I have long pin straight hair, I get layers and Heidi cuts it in a way that gives it movement even when I've done nothing to it (so I don't have to curl it.) My baby sis has a bob, and our older sister a Heidi fan also gets layers. You do need to book Heidi a week in advance, and I believe she's 5 or 10 bucks more, but she's worth it.
