Booked Fox Den Salon for my wedding day and these ladies are magicians! They were ahead of schedule all morning and my bridesmaids and family looked beautiful. As the Bride, I was in love with my hairstyle and got so many compliments. Really made my day that much more special. They killed our hair and makeup at an affordable price and we fun to have in our bridal suite! Definitely recommend :)

Amber has literally the gentlest hands EVER!! Expert service and my haircut is FLAWLESS! I am chubby and she gave me a shorter cut without making my face look rounder. She was awesome at explaining the products she used and helping me figure out how on earth to take care of my hair! I came in super nervous and shy but by the end I was laughing and having a great time. I will 100% be back to see her.

I set up an appointment last minute after an at-home root touch-up on a Monday went horribly wrong. My first day of work’s Thursday, and I had fairly warm and faded magenta hair with firey orange roots and streaks on half my head. I had never been to this salon, but they had the soonest opening. To be honest, my expectations were low: not due to anything regarding the salon or the stylist, but because of past experiences and the damage/overall horrible condition of my hair coming in. They were incredibly kind and made the time to ensure that my hair would turn out presentable for the first day. “Presentable” is an understatement: (El) Starr absolutely KILLED this fix. It’s been a huge struggle that’s gone on for years trying to get the pink hair I’ve always wanted. And after numerous bad experiences over time, (El) Starr got it right on the first try. She always checked whether the color was to my liking and if I was still feeling any burns from the previous at-home attempt. I felt very well-cared for and understood at this salon, which unfortunately has become a lot rarer these days. I can’t thank her (and the rest of the staff) enough for their help, it meant the world.

Fox Den is one of the coolest places to get a haircut. Love the staff, get recommendations for high quality products, and genuinely look forward to my appointments there. I appreciate that they still require masks during services to help protect their employees and community, and that they honor different needs of clients by having quiet chairs and offering fidget toys. They also have a wide range of styling costs so they can meet a lot people's budgets across the board. Highly recommend!!

I went to Madeline. She was patient and took into account all of my hair concerns. This was my first professional haircut after a very bad experience about 7 years ago, so I was nervous about having someone else work on my hair, but she's very friendly and put me at ease! The atmosphere is excellent. Fun but professional, the products smell fantastic, and my haircut was everything I wanted! My hair looks fantastic and I'm very excited about going back for future services.

I was very bummed with my experience here— I have several friends who love this place and I was sad I did not leave feeling the same way. Even though when I booked my online appointment the cost and time estimate were for both a cut and color, when I got the the salon my hairdresser seemed like she had no idea what the appointment was for and then after talking to me said there was no time for a color… this really bummed me out because it was my first time treating myself to a professional dye job and the hairdresser acted like my appointment missing the color was just a shrug when to me it was something I was deeply looking forward to and had spent a lot of time convincing myself I deserved. It Really sucked that my hairdresser didn’t seem to know what was going on, And the ladies at the front were pretty cold to me as well. Such a bummer since I was so hoping for a warm inviting space.

Two years ago, Erica helped me achieve curls without chemicals by showing me the right products and cutting in a way that accented my naturalness. Erica has a great balance of satisfying your desires while being realistic and offering professional input. I've been happily seeing her ever since. :)

100/10 I recommend Fox Den Salon! They are actually LGBTQ+ friendly, very welcoming, do great work, and by far worth the drive + cost. Joes was awesome and I will definitely keep doing the commute to see them for all my hair needs. Finally found a place that gives me the androgynous hair cut I have wanted!

BOOK WITH SARAH!!! I have always complained about how difficult & unmanageable my hair is… I have always complained and just assumed I had bad hair. I have never ever in my entire life had a hair cut as good as Sarah cut my hair. She is amazing, super nice, and EXTREMELY knowledgeable on products / hair health. I had a consult with my stylist, Erica Botz about a month ago where I was recommended a 3 hour “at most” appointment. The appointment ended up taking over 5 hours and for most of the time Erica was not the one doing my hair. I was alternated between students, which is not what I wanted to pay for and it made me go way over budget. I’m pretty happy with how my hair turned out and Erica had a good plan of how to execute what i wanted, but that was very frustrating.

I got a mid-length cut from Starr, and it's one of the best haircuts I've ever gotten. Normally, I don't end up with what I really want because I don't describe hair well, but Starr was like a mind reader - I basically just had to point at things. She did exactly the cut I had pictured in what seemed like about 5 minutes and was also really patient with me being fussy about the details. It looks amazing!

Beautiful space. Friendly people. Outstanding Covid protocols. Play great music. Unfortunately, after three attempts, my hair color is still not what I wanted/asked for so I won’t be going back. Trying to find a new stylist to color my hair. I’ve had purple hair for over four years but when my standing hair artist quit, I had to find someone new. After doing some research I found Reggei who’s portfolio seemed like a perfect fit. My first visit left my hair pinker than I wanted and with many pieces that were hardly colored at all. Went back for another appointment and Reggei added some more blue so it would turn out less pink. Unfortunately, my hair turned out straight blue and after just two washes the ends were turning teal/green. Hardly any showings of purple at all. Normally this wouldn’t be a big deal but this was done two weeks before my wedding and our whole wedding is purple. I reached out to the salon and they told me to come back in and reggei would be happy to make it exactly right. And, unfortunately once again, the mark has simply been missed. My hair has more grey than purple. Luckily I have some product that will add some more purple into it. But I can’t keep spending this much money for something I don’t love and looks nothing like the inspiration photos I provide. Lovely people but just not a good fit for me

This was my first time going to The Foxden Salon, and it was definitely a great experience! They are great about following current COVID-19 safety, and all of the staff were incredibly kind. Bailey was a wonderful stylist, and I really appreciate that they took the time to listen and understand what it was that I wanted done. The stylists are respectful of pronouns and they seem to really care about their clients! (Also the building has a cool aesthetic).

It was my first time getting a haircut at Fox Den. The interior is very spacious and has a lot of character. My hairstylist, Coco, was really nice and professional. Usually, I am never fully satisfied with the outcome of a haircut, but this time it wasn't the case. Really like my new haircut :)

I've been platinum blonde for about a decade now, and have been in stylist limbo since graduating college. The last 2 years I've been working in Rochester and tried 4 different salons - nobody could seem to get me to a beautiful, true platinum! Anyway, I just moved to St. Paul last week and a friend of mine recommended The Fox Den. And let me tell ya...Ari worked her MAGIC on me yesterday; I left with the most brilliant platinum hair you could ever dream of. Daenerys who?? I know they're known for their amazing neon colors and super modern cuts, but do NOT sleep on their ability to give you your blonde fantasy! I have found my forever salon 💖

My normal stylist was out of town and after hearing so many friends recommend Fox Den I thought I would give it a try. First off their covid procedures were amazing and I felt so safe getting my hair done here. The stylist listened to what I wanted and did a great job executing it, but what really got me was the stylist was almost done with my hair and realized that one of the colours didn't stick very well. I've had this before and had stylists send me home without saying anything. But not here! The stylist pointed it out and was flexible with working me back in to get the colour put in and rinsed again. The colour is perfect. My hair is soft. And the staff is amazing! Thanks for a great first experience 👍

I have only had great experiences with Mack and Andie at Foxden! Andie was my original hair stylist—she always gave great haircuts and recommendations on possible styles and cuts. When I decided I wanted color, Andie walked me through possibilities and when my schedule didn't line up with hers, she happily recommended other stylists that would be best suited for the color I want within the timeline I had available. Mack is the Queen of Red!!! Mack took my jumbled ideas and turned them into a truly amazing hair style and color (and Mack works MAGIC in Reds and Oranges), all while being friendly, informed, and making sure I was comfortable for a 4ish hour treatment. After I had settled into the new hair and had some changes, Mack fit me into their schedule to make sure I was 100% happy with my new look. Each experience I had with both Andie and Mack were friendly and comfortable. They both are so good at what they do, have so much knowledge about ways to make everyones style and look pop, and I cannot recommend them enough!! Thank you both so much! Will definitely come back for all my hair needs.

I recently had a hair cut at Fox Den and was very happy with the results. This was my first cut since the shut down, so I was a bit nervous. But, the staff was friendly and the cut turned out exactly how I wanted. The price was fair, without any annoying upselling, and the new location on Lake Street felt cozy but tidy. Would recommend!

I was dying my hair a color out of my comfort zone, so I did some heavy research on salons before a coworker recommended this salon to me. I had Alex as my stylist, and every moment from the consultation to the end of the appointment was amazing! Alex is nice, fun to talk to, and sooo talented. I left feeling so satisfied! The appointment ran longer than expected so Alex had to attend to another client but she never made me feel ignored. Matthew, who washed and dried my hair, was also so nice and fun to talk to! (I wholeheartedly believe that he’ll one day muster the courage to honk at drivers who cut him off) The salon is also rad and clean, and they’re very safe with COVID! I’m so glad I came here and will def come again.

I used to be very happy with Fox Den, but then my hair stylist left. I had been working with another who I really appreciate, but they have left as well. The front desk staff seems to change frequently and the feel of the place has changed since I started going there. The last straw was when I went in for my refade this morning. First of all, it was scheduled with a different stylist and I was not alerted of this. I arrived five minutes late, peeked in the front door and made eye contact with someone, then texted to check in as directed on the front door. I waited in my car for 20 minutes and did not even receive a phone call asking if I was coming in or needed to reschedule. I confirmed I had the correct date and time. I will never be going back to Fox Den after today's experience.

The best haircut I’ve ever had by Natalie! I always tell stylists to do whatever they think would look good, and this is the first time someone actually did an amazing job. She took the time to look at the natural waves in my hair and I am so so happy with the results. The covid precautions were also great, someone came to the door to let me in, my temp was checked, everything was sanitized and they brought the check to me for a contactless payment. Overall an awesome place and I’m so happy I went there! Definitely will be going there from now on!

The salon does a great job of being respectful, from the base of everything they do... From their Quiet Chair option to displaying pronouns and creating a welcoming environment. A wonderful salon with stylists who listen to you and work very hard to make sure your cut is top-notch! During the pandemic, please know that walk-ins aren't accepted. You can make an appointment online or call for one. They will take your temp with a temp gun before the appointment begins, and I believe they have masks to provide in case you forget yours/don't have one. Pre-pandemic, loved this place. During pandemic, still love this place. Clean and roomy, and the price you pay for what you receive is quite good.

I first met Sica almost 13 years ago, right when she started the salon. From day one she has always set the bar high! I've received dozens of cuts, a few perms and brow waxes and I always leave feeling like a way cooler version of myself. She's engaging, fun and always teaches me about my hair, which I love! When my Mom decided to go all the way gray she went to Fox Den because we knew she would be in good hands! Her staff is friendly and I love that they have an apprentice program. Most recently Sica did my hair and makeup for my wedding and WOW! I was blown away! I don't usually wear a lot of makeup, but she gave me a soft-glam, natural look that I LOVED! It rained on my big day and Sica gave me an updo that progressed into the night that showed off my natural waves. I couldn't be more pleased, can't wait to see you all soon! MUAH!

I went to the Fox Den on Lyndale for the first time several weeks ago not knowing what to expect, and I could not be happier with the results! Erica did an awesome job of cutting my hair so that it looks great straight or curly. I'm not good with hair and not used to styling my hair curly, but she did a great job of explaining how to work with my natural curl to get it to curl without a lot of effort. It's been several weeks since I went in, and I'm still loving the new do!

I have used Fox Den for my hair cutting and coloring needs for soooo many years. The staff are top notch. Professional, friendly and I love that they can do your service in silence if that is what you would like. Though, I never do as I love chatting with them and hearing some great stories. Sica has been my go-to stylist. She has such an intuition and knows what looks good. I just tell her to do what she wants and I am always happy.

Update June 2021: Been seeing Sica for a year plus. My hair is so healthy and growing, she is the best. Environment is great, Sica is very knowledgeable with doing/maintaining Black (African American) hair. Salon is very inclusive to all races. Sica keep being awesome! You will never loose me as a customer. Some things to keep in mind: there are cancelation fees if you cancel your appointment (obviously like why wouldn't there be one) but not if you move the appointment. Masks are currently still required. Love love LOVE this place! It's very classy and Sica absolutely knows hair. She is amazing with multiple hair types and her color is amazing. Prices are very reasonable. You will not be disappointed!

As a black woman I’m always trying to increase my Rolodex of trusted stylists. I contacted fox den via email asking if they could recommend any of their stylists that are comfortable with “textured” hair since it’s apparently scary for some. :) I was given a few names to pick from and selected the one that had the availability I was looking for. My appointment with Haley was this morning and am thrilled to return to them going forward. They answered so many of my questions, tried hair products I never would have thought of, and helped me feel super comfortable in this bizarre world of pandemic. I knocked one star because their doors didn’t open until about 8:10 and there was a perceived lack of hustle from the stylists inside while several of us waited outside and shared very mild, mutual frustration at the lack of communication. Haley did apologize and I understand things happen but I hope next time they can help keep waiting folks more in the loop as I would’ve had time to run across the street for coffee. Hardly a big deal though. Despite the time issue, I’ll return happily and look forward to maintaining a relationship with Haley for my hair needs!

I have had my color correction/root touch-up/toning by Andie C. and each time has turned out exactly as I wanted (going from lvl. 1/2 natural to platinum!!!!) As a new customer, I was really impressed at the knowledge and skill of the staff. My stylist, Arcinia, was amazing. She took my vision and made it happen better than I could have wanted. The purple and pinks blended perfectly and I get so many compliments. This is the salon to go to for unique colors. Plus, all the employees are super friendly, and the salon displays local art.

Sara Smith cut my hair at her previous location and is moving to Fox Den as soon as the pandemic restrictions are lifted. Even though I am definitely due for another haircut my hair still looks great - Sara cuts it in such a way that it looks great even as it gets long. Sara is friendly and does a great job. I love this place! Super friendly staff, and the best haircut I've gotten in Minneapolis, for just $30! I tried several other salons in Uptown that were twice the price and yet couldn't give me the short cut I wanted. Alex at Fox Den does a fantastic job keeping my pixie cut looking sharp, and she gave me a free neck trim before my wedding. This is now MY salon and I won't go anywhere else! You can schedule appointments online or over the phone, and they also accept walk-in's. No on-site parking, but street parking is usually available nearby.

I had an appointment and the outcome wasn’t quite what I wanted but they were SUPER nice and understanding when I told them and they booked me a new appointment with Sica and associate stylist who were both just gems. I'd never been to the same hair stylist more than twice until I met Sica. I ended up going to them 5 years ago because they do perms, and I've been back for cuts and colors ever since. I'm sure I'm the most boring service Sica has to do (straight, brown, general highlights, etc.) but they are so intelligent, easy to talk to, and a master at what they do. The only down side is they're so great that I have to book months in advance sometimes to get an appointment!

Fantastic experience here. Took me as a walk in, and the talented Drew cut about 8" off my hair into a chic and easy to maintain bob with absolutely no problems. Through diligent research and hard work, Sica Dawn; owner and stylist extraordinaire at Fox Den, has pioneered safe cosmetology services in regards to the current pandemic. Despite there being no protocol put in place by the National Cosmetology Association, Sica established safety standards and an effective protocol for dealing with Covid 19 that all salons can aspire to. In other words, she literally "wrote the book" on how social distancing and other safety measures are accomplished in the hair salon setting. By taking it upon herself in adopting these safety measures, Sica has created the safest and most comfortable environment possible during this outbreak, and I'm immensely grateful for that alone. I received the best cut and color of my life from Sica (pronounced SEE-ka). Given her experience and known caliber, this is not at all surprising. What did shock me was the intuitive way she used the little information she knew about me, and my personal tastes and style, to give me exactly what I wanted. Sica created the perfect all-over length in every dimension of the cut, and implemented the best use of colors to suit not only my personal preferences, but my lifestyle. While Sica is certainly a hair-genius (/regular genius), you should be confident about receiving services from any of the stylists here, as they all collaborate beautifully and enable one another to pull off the perfect experience for everyone. In discussions with fellow Fox Den clients, this is one of the many things that distinguishes Fox Den as what many describe being the best salon in the twin cities. There just isn't enough time in a-day to point out all of the amazing things about this salon. The products they use are fantastic, and again; best haircut of my entire life, by far. I simply couldn't have asked for better service. The safe and beautiful space, along with a perfectly executed hairstyle, stand out as the best time I've had in Two-thousand-bloody-twenty, by quite far. I couldn't be more thrilled and grateful to Sica and everyone for making me beautiful and happy again! Long live the Fox Den!

This salon is definitely my favorite. The stylists are all very passionate, talkative, and do a great job on my hair. Sean gave me a partial foil and it turned out wonderful. He even went above and beyond and gave me a purple shampoo treatment to get rid of some of the yellows I had. They always use only the best hair products. I would recommend this salon to anyone who is sick of snotty, judge mental, and overpriced salons. Go to fox den!!

The Fox Den is awesome, they have perm specialists that can add texture and wave to your hair, but in my case they saved my hair from an insane spiral perm I was given somewhere else. Now I have great curl and body. Cool and casual environment and quite affordable. I highly recommend them especially if you've found yourself with a perm gone wrong.

The Fox Den Hair Salon is hands down the best hair salon I have ever been to! Not only is the staff talented, they are also so kind. I always leave feeling beautiful and happy. Sica Dawn (the owner) cares about people from all walks of life, which was the reason I was first attracted to the Fox Den. Every time I go in The Fox Den is always featuring a different local artist. She always makes me (a mixed race girl) feel like my feelings are validated. She always has me leaving feeling like a queen. Sica is an amazing community connector as well. She is always putting on super dope hair shows featuring people of the LGBT community. The Fox Den is something I am so proud to have in my community I hope to be sending my children to. 10/10 Highly Recommend.

Wonderful experience! I went in for a color correction, and the stylist Audra nailed it. I'm so much happier with my hair. Also, utilized the quiet chair option and it was so nice. This salon is like an introvert dream salon!

Incredibly sound advice about managing hair of my type that no hair dresser or barber had ever given me before. 3. A recommendation for a product that I really love now - but it wasn't pushed on me! Great stylists and very welcoming atmosphere. Good place to go to if you’re looking for a more “alternative” look. I also really appreciate their quiet chair option that allows clients to opt out of needing to talk to their stylist outside of telling them what they want done.
