I love Focus Salon! Been getting hair cuts with Alicia regularly for some time. She is so kind and helpful and answers questions I have about taking care of my hair. And I love the hair cuts!! I have curly, kind of thick hair and have struggled in the past to find hair cuts that worked for me/I liked. Alicia is so skilled and always does a great job, never had a haircut here I didn’t like. It’s always a great experience when I come here.

I had a truly wonderful experience here at Focus with Alicia. One of the least stressful and most pleasant hair experiences I’ve ever had to be honest. And that’s saying a lot considering how nervous I was. I am on immune suppressant medication and haven’t had another person cut my hair in three years till now. However, I needed my hair fixed from a surgical procedure where part of my head was shaved. I searched forever for a salon that was/is still taking covid precautions. Not only are they still and continuing taking precautions but the energy is caring and kind. The vibe is chill. It is well ventilated and not too stuffy. Also, no super strong hair product smells that most salons have that tend to trigger my migraines. Alicia was and is considerate, skilled, and gentle. It was everything I needed on multiple levels and the haircut is fantastic. Thank you so deeply much.

This was my first visit to Focus! I had Kim as my artist for the evening, and he was so friendly and easy to talk to! I’ve had a hard time finding a salon I felt comfortable in and it’s always been a challenge to talk to the artist. But here at Focus, it was easy going! Kim was honest about the style I wanted and he showed me how to blow dry and style my new hair! I walked out of the salon loving my big chop and I believe I found a home within this salon!

She always gave me some tips and tricks on how to get my hair as curly as she did when she styled it after my haircut! She is super friendly and funny! I've been having my hair cut and styled by Topher for over a year now (as well as my brows waxed), and he's amazing. He is literally the best human, too. He fixed my cut the first time I saw him, and I have a regular monthly appointment with him now. I love my hair. I get a ton of compliments on both the color and style. You cannot go wrong by booking with Topher. He is incredibly talented. They are also super accommodating at the salon. My advice is just call ahead and communicate if you need something.

We go to see Mara and never leave disappointed. She’s always willing to listen to us and help us figure out what kind of haircut we want. She answers questions without making you feel like they were stupid to begin with. She also doesn’t pressure you to engage in small talk which I’m not always the best at. She’s incredibly accommodating and always down to try something knew. Highly recommend!

Mara is the best! My old hairdresser moved to Mt. Washington and I managed to meet Mara at my own place of work and immediately booked with her. She is extremely kind and personable. I had problems in the past with other hairdressers not truly listening to what I wanted, even when what I was asking for was realistic. Mara always made sure to consider the look I wanted, as well as being honest about some of the challenges that come with doing it. I will say, the salon is small, so consider that when booking, as the space is not very private and has the tendency to get loud quickly. For the most part, I don’t mind this. There is also an adorable little dog that trots around, so that’s a plus.

Today was my 3rd or 4th visit (list count) at Focus Salon. Mara listens and answer any concerns or questions regarding my hair or/products. Mara is a very pleasant and diligent hard working hair stylist!! The atmosphere is laid back and embraces a unique personal touch not always found in hair salons. The employees appear to work well together as a team. Also, the salon is clean and neat. This past visit today was just as wonderful as all my past visits. Focus Salon never fails my expectations. The stylists all go far beyond what any hair salon has ever done for me! A round of applause 👏🏻!

I cannot recommend this place enough!! I was honestly daunted by the task of finding a stylist in Louisville, and I searched for days before settling on Focus. Alicia Dossett was my stylist and we are both obsessed and amazed with my hair transformation! I got a full ombre color from light purple to gray, and it took several hours. HOWEVER! The end result was WELL worth every minute and penny!!! Alicia did such an amazing wonderful job! I am just gushing and can't stop looking in the mirror. 10/10

alicia worked magic on my hair after a botched diy job. she listened to what i wanted and gave me exactly what i asked for, a sharp chin length bob with bangs. she was careful to get it exactly even, and it's absolutely perfect. on top of that, i was a walk-in and they were able to get me in immediately. i'm so lucky alicia had time to take care of my mangled mane, i can't wait to come back for my next appointment!

I moved to Louisville about a year and a half ago, desperately needing to find a new hair stylist. I did a lot of research and decided to give Focus a try. I have never gone anywhere else since then. I will be a Focus girl for life. Lucas has been my stylist since my first appointment. When we met, I told him i was trying to go for the white blonde look. Every other stylist I had been to could not accomplish what I wanted, but Lucas got me there in just two appointments. My hair is healthier and stronger than ever before, thanks to his product suggestions and his understanding of my hair texture. He really listens to what I want to do instead of just doing what he thinks would look good (I have had this happen many times at other places) but he is also full of suggestions if you are unsure about things. I also regularly see their Esthetician, Torilla. Before going to Focus, I would go to nail salons to get my eyebrows done and it was always the most stressful event because you never knew what you were going to get. After giving Torilla a try, no one will ever touch my brows again. I get compliments all the time about how great my brow shape is now and its all thanks to her. The wax she uses also greatly reduces the pain and red bumps I used to get from other waxes. The whole atmosphere is loving and happy here. All the employees make an effort to personally get to know you even if you are not their client. I love Focus and would recommend everyone to go there, whatever you hair needs may be.

I’ve been going to this salon since I moved to the city back in 2016. Alicia has always been so great! I was nervous going my first time because I have 3b hair and it requires a different approach & I've had issues in the past finding stylists who can properly handle my ‘in between’ hair type. Well this salon was beyond competent and very welcoming. I was so relieved! And as I settled in I realized I was in a safe place and with people who know what they’re doing & love it. Alicia has always been my stylist & she leaves my hair feeling silky, soft & shiny every time! We have great conversations and the whole shop feels welcoming and inviting. Topher is also great and welcoming. My hair was doing this weird thing for a while where a small section wouldn’t curl naturally at the roots or ends and it had been this way for a few years. He took the time to consult and see what could be causing it. I appreciate that they seemed very invested in my problem. Still don’t know why my hair was acting up but I don’t have this issue anymore so all is well. 10/10 and recommend to everyone I know.

First trip here and it was amazing! Mara is so detail-oriented and did an amazing job on my color. I have super thick hair and usually stylists get annoyed with how many foils they have to put in my hair 😂. I wanted a really natural-looking blonde highlights and she did just that. Kim, the owner of Focus salon is an artist with hair. He's extremely knowledgeable about color, cut and styling, and loves to educate his clients. I highly recommend him. Prior to finding him, I was so unhappy with my hair, I would usually wear a headband or scarf covering my hair and only occasionally styled it. I haven't worn those one single time since he started doing my hair. It always looks great, and I can easily style my hair at home. He has also encouraged me recently to try a new style, and grow my hair longer. I was afraid to do this, as because of a health issue, my hair is super thin and fine. Well, my hair actually looks like it has MORE VOLUME with the longer style versus the short hairstyle I had been wearing. This is thanks to Kim's hairstyling techniques. And, I am so in love with my new style. If you can't get in with Kim, I also highly recommend John. He cut and styled my hair when Kim was out sick, and he also did an AMAZING job! You won't miss with either of this two stylists! Just have realistic expectations. You can't go from jet black hair to platinum blond in 1 visit! If you're unsure, call now and give them a try. They're amazing! P. S. They won't just be your stylist. They will become your friends and family!

I came to Focus Salon for a completely new look without knowing anything about hair. All I knew is that I wanted short hair. Ethel was very helpful and basically took the reigns and styled my hair into something that I absolutely love, and that feels like me! I’m so impressed and am 100% coming back for my future haircuts. The rest of the staff also makes the salon feel like a safe space and are constantly hyping their patrons up. It feels like a big family and a bigger hug. I've known Alicia for years and have watched her develop as a stylist. Today she cut my hair for the first time and did an amazing job. I have thick hair but it took her no time to cut it into a beautiful long bob. It doesn't have that "shelf" look and it feels light and amazing. I love this salon! Kim is wonderful as well. The conversation flows very easily, and breaks in the conversation don't feel awful. I've worked with Topher in the past also, and a kinder person there is not. So kind and inclusive, really empowers you to make your own hair choices. To summarize, they make your experience feel homey and comfortable while delivering excellent hair services. Kim Austin was absolutely wonderful to me. I came to him with a bad hair color issue from a previous stylist. I was quite upset. Kim consulted with me without rushing me. He explained in detail what steps he would take to fix my hair to get it to where I wanted it. He let me know in advance it would take 3 visits. I made my first appointment and Kim dedicated over 2 hours to me. He made sure I was the only client scheduled at the time. The outcome was so much better than when I walked in the door. I’m already so grateful to him. I am glad Kim was honest about the 2 more visits necessary to take me to my goal color. He is doing the fix the right way so it stays corrected and my hair becomes repaired and healthy. He also gave me a beautiful cut. Kim is my new professional stylist. I won’t go to anyone else. I am very grateful to him.

I moved to Louisville last year and have been to a couple stylists who did just an okay job, so I decided to try Focus. Tyler was awesome! She listened to what I wanted & didn't want. I have thick curly hair, so without the right cut my hair can end up looking like a mushroom top. Tyler cut it perfectly, and the highlights she put in my hair are amazing! Focus has been an incredible find. Prior to coming here, I was always a cheap-and-quick haircut kinda guy. Now that I've seen how much better my hair looks after getting it cut here, as well as how amazingly convenient it is to have between-cut trims to keep that well-groomed look going as long as possible, I'm never going anywhere else. On top of that, Tyler is wonderful, does an incredible job with my hair, and makes me look forward to every appointment. I'd recommend Focus to anyone - especially guys like me with no experience in a nicer place. You'll be glad you tried it.

First time at a Paul Mitchell Salon and I was impressed! The guy who did my hair was extremely friendly and even styled it for me! The only bummer was their hot water wasn't working that day, so he was unable to wash my hair, but I was still charged the full amount which didn't seem right. However, I forgot to mention this until I was home and I'm sure if I had said something at the appointment they would have given me some kind of slight discount. Overall, a great place to go!

I've bounced around between several salons in Louisville and Lexington (Dazzle Salon and Spa, Joseph's Salon and Spa, Planet Salon and Spa) and none of them even compare to Focus Salon. First let me start by saying that I've never gotten my hair colored before. I'm Asian and my hair is pitch black. I've always wanted too color it but was too scared to do it. Afraid the color would come out bad, it would damage my hair etc etc. So I had a lot of anxiety going into this. 1. Atmosphere. Theres lots of conversation happening between the hair dresser and their clients and you can just tell immediately that these people have been going there for a while (which is a really good sign) and not only that, but the hairdressers there take the time to get to know you and remember you. But it's not obnoxiously loud and if you just want to sit there and relax and observe (like I did) you feel totally at ease to do so. 2. Lindsey. Where do I start? She is so friendly and genuine you can't help but feel comfortable with her right away. She didn't rush through the consultation and she really took the time to look at the pictures I brought and discussed with me what I wanted. She asked me lots of questions which made me feel even more safe in her hands because I could tell she was really paying attention to what I wanted and didn't want. And when I was totally unsure about which direction I wanted to go she would give her own advice on what she thought would look the best. (Side note: I love it when hairdressers do this. They are the experts, they've gone to school for this. All I've done is look at Pinterest. Don't be a robot, be a stylist! Help me out!) She then explained exactly what she had in mind, what colors she was going to mix and what they would do to my hair. Even as I sat there with foil in my hair, slowly freaking out that maybe I made a mistake in coloring my hair, she would pop in periodically and check on them and reassure me that the color was coming along great. And guys, it really really did. Then when she was cutting my hair she explained each step, now I'm cutting layers, now I'm fixing the fringe around your face, etc. Ugh I hate long reviews sorry! I just could go on and on about this place. Hope this helps you guys! Especially if you're on the fence with something new. Go for it! And go to Focus Salon!

Ask for topher. I'll never go to the loop again. If you're used to a $20 hair cut then you might be a little uncomfortable with the price but trust me it's worth it. When i first went in they offered coffee, water or tea. I got some water, sat down in the waiting area that was nice and topher got to me early. They are very friendly and welcoming here. I will go back and i definitely will recommend this place.
