Hadn’t cut my hair in a long time because I recently moved to Charleston and had several not so quality cuts, so I was a little nervous to try again. But wow, Michael gave me the best cut I’ve had in a long time, with little but a photo to go off of, and in half the time I’m normally in the chair. I will definitely be a returning customer.

I live out of state and had to come to CAMC unexpectedly because my mother had a stroke. I had an appointment with my stylist the next day which I missed. After 2 weeks staying with my Mom in the hospital I was desperate for a haircut and color. Michael generously worked me in and gave me a beautiful cut and color. I was extremely pleased. He was kind and professional. The shop is pleasant and a wonderful atmosphere. I highly recommend an appointment with Michael for a gorgeous hair do!

I dropped in to see David Mayes for a quick neck-trim-turned-clean-up today thanks to a last minute cancellation… and… I think…. I think I’ve just stumbled upon an actual hair wizard. I live in New York but have a sneaking suspicion I’m going to be coming back to visit my brother in Charleston more often so I can sneak in to see David for my cuts, now. David’s been doing hair for 50 years and it shows - he knows EXACTLY what you mean and how to achieve it. So delighted!!!

so so SO happy with how my hair turned out!! have been needing it trimmed and colored for a while now. if you happen to be looking for a hair stylist in the charleston area i highly recommend Michaels hair salon. amazing atmosphere, great service, and fantastic work. 10/10 couldn’t see myself going to another stylist ever again

Kandace is a hair GODDESS! I called Michael frantic with a hair crisis on a Saturday afternoon and he was able to connect me with Kandace. I am forever grateful!! She spent 3 hours on her day off to fix a very broken highlight job I thought no one could fix. She literally worked magic to make my hair gorgeous and refused to accept anything but hair perfection. She also made the appt fun and 3 hours felt like no time after we talked and laughed. I can’t thank you enough! Go see Kandace! She’s a hair genius and does incredible work.

This is the best new place in town to get a very relaxed and reassuring styling experience. Kandace and Michael recieved me with warmth and are very personable. Kandace handled my messy, dry hair with a lot of patience and worked with my doubts about the end result and we arrived at the final idea in a smooth manner and she went about it very skillfully. I would definitely recommend this up and coming salon on Charleston's East end to all.

I have been with Kandace McDonald for over 10 years and she just started renting a booth at Michael's. She has always been up on the latest education and trends for any of your hair needs. Whether it's cut, color, or just a simple style or updo, she has you covered. I know I could walk in at any of my appointments, tell her what I am thinking and she will hone in on exactly what I'm wanting! My most favorite thing about her-she will never let you leave with a 'do that isn't flattering to your body and facial features!!! She has a fun, down to earth, personality, not to mention her Master Stylist experience, so go see her!!!

I needed a confidence boost in a bad way, and while I had a specific idea of how I wanted my hair to look, I took a risk and asked Michael to do what he thought would look best on me. After asking a few questions, he crafted a style and color that revived something in me I thought I’d lost a long time ago.
