I started going to Matsuda Dermatology a few years ago. At first, it was an initial meeting to check my Psoriasis that I put on hold for a few years until my scalp flakes started to become bad and it began spreading to my body. I remember it being a simple meeting, briefing on plans and options, as well as check-ins. A few years later (today), I have been taking Taltz injection that was recommended by Dr. Jim On for a little over a year and it has rid me of the scales/flakes over my head and body. Such amazing results in a years worth time for having Psoriasis over 5+ years. I highly recommend seeing Matsuda Dermatology for the great doctors, amazing staff, fantastic appointment reminders, and stellar communication.

So thankful for this dermatology office. I found them on google and sent my sister there. She had been dealing with a keloid scar that kept growing on her ear. With previous treatments, they kept coming back even worse. Her keloid got to the point where it was painful and continued to grow. They were able to do a successful surgery and post steroid injections to monitor the scar and make sure it didn’t grow into a keloid again. It’s been years later and the surgery has been a success. If you have a keloid, even a big one, there is hope with Matsuda Dermatology. Thank you for taking care of my sister!

I come from outer island, so it's important that I don't have to make lots of trips. All of the paperwork was easily completed by email. When I arrived, I was taken to the exam room right away. Dr. Shelbi diagnosed my condition (which I've had for many years) immediately. The office had ordered my prescriptions within a hour after I left. Everything went smoothly. Parked quite a ways away and eventually found my way to the correct building. The map was somewhat helpful but doesn’t tell one that there’s parking in the same building as your office.

In all of my experiences with doctors over the years, first impressions are the best way of determining weather they care or not! More than likely the person or persons we first make contact with is the clerks welcoming you to the office, it will let you know what type of treatment you will be receiving from the physician. And with my former surgeon ( Dr Shen, Dr Okado, and treating cardiologist Dr David Lee ) their entire staff were on there game and so is with the staff from Dermatologis Dr Matsuda office. I highly recommend any of these doctors to treat people, young, middle age, and older. Why, as my cardiologist would say, (Because They Don’t Care) well these doctors and their staff CARE about your treatment. Yesterday was my first visit to Dr Matsuda office and they care!

my experience was about as good as it gets. the wait was < 5min. They biopsied two spots, a local anesthesia worked so well i felt no pain. very through, the next appointment is in two weeks... I'm confident my skin cancer will be treated comprehensively and completely.

I had my first appt at Matsuda Dermatology two days ago and I am very happy with how the appt went. The medical complex has a parking garage that is super convenient. The cost is $3.50 for the first 4 hours, I believe. Matsuda did validate but only for $0.50 off (so I paid $3), which wasn't much but anything off is appreciated! I wasn't quite sure where the office was located because there are two buildings and it was my first time but I simply flagged an employee down and she was super friendly and happy to help direct me. I made it into the office and filled out a couple of new patient forms (I had printed 2 off their website and filled out beforehand but had somehow missed 2 more, total of 4 forms to fill out). I signed in, gave the receptionist my ID and insurance card and then waited for about 10 minutes, which wasn't long at all for a derm. The office was very clean and the women at the front desk were very friendly and welcoming. I was taken back to an exam room by a nurse who took down basic info about why I was there and then she took some photos. I was there for a rash that I thought was psoriasis. She asked me how long I've had it/severity/how I'm treating it, etc and then took photos. She was also very kind and professional. She exited and I waited 5-10 minutes for Dr. Matsuda to come in. She is a very friendly, kind doctor and I immediately felt comfortable with her. She was empathetic to my condition (it is an ugly, painful rash) and gave me a lot of information and a diagnosis very quickly--I don't mean that in a negative way--it was more so a sign that she knows what she's doing and is eager to help. She is personable and easy to talk to--which I think is just as important as having an educated doctor. She diagnosed me with atopic eczema and dermatitis. She prescribed me a light steroid and gave me a ton of great information on why/how I have this condition and how to treat it. I sat with her for about 20 minutes or so. I preferred a written prescription to drop off myself in person at the pharmacy but they can also send your prescriptions over electronically to a pharmacy of your choosing. I said goodbye to Dr M and exited to the receptionist area to make a follow-up appt. The receptionist was flexible with my work schedule and I easily made an appt for 3 weeks later. I also had no copay! But that is more a result of my health insurance rather than the office itself. Although I would prefer not to have these skin conditions, I am very happy to have answers and a treatment plan. I was pleased with the entire experience at Matsuda Dermatology from start to finish and would absolutely recommend Dr. Matsuda and her staff to a friend or family member. The only negative thing that I could say would be the quantity and frequency of reminder/confirmation notices by phone and email. There were at least 10 or more in the 2 weeks from booking to day of appt. Both many texts and many emails, but they will only call you once to confirm, which is appreciated. I am not a person to forget appt's so that was a little annoying, but if you are a person who needs those reminders then you would likely appreciate it. Also--booking the appt was very easy and can be done online at their website. Once you book the appt, a staff member will call you shortly after to confirm that it's been received/approved and that you're in their book. I like this feature because it gives me time to look at my schedule and their availability without tying up their/my phone line. Thank you Dr. Matsuda & staff!

Dr. Matsuda and her staff are very professional.Their office and staff are adhering to the COVID-19 preventive protections which made me feel safe as soon as I walked inside. It was my first time there and I immediately felt welcomed and familiar, as if I had been there before. I sent photos of my dermatalogical issue in advance of my visit which helped tremendously in my discussion with Dr. Matsuda. I highly recommend her and her staff. If you want an honest evaluation of a skin issue, go to them. Parking is available in the Physicians Parking garage. The cost is reasonable and your stamped ticket provides a small amount reduced from the overall price. Every little bit helps. Mahalo, Dr. Matsuda and staff. May you all be blessed daily.

Dr. Jim On is quick, knowledgeable, caring and available. I had a weird case of psoriasis on my hands and foot wrapped in contact dermatitis on my hands. I was (and still am) focused on steroid avoidance. Although the topical steroids really helped with immediate results, psoriasis a chronic illness. Dr. Jim On has helped me find long term options to help mitigate the severity of it. Matsuda Dermatology as a whole are a group of patient and attentive staff who always put your needs first. I searched the web and found MATSUDA Dermatology. They are really making use of modern technology in that you can make an appt and fill out all your paperwork via text on your phone. Appt was scheduled within a few days of contacting them. I arrived, they texted me here to come up to office, and I was in and out in 20 min. They do have telemedicine appts as well.

I am always happy with my visits to Matsuda Dermatology - one thing I would say though, this time they made a mistake on my pharmacy. Longs is confusing in that they have three on King Street but only differentiated by street number. My prescription ended up at the Longs near University and King. A word to the wise, always reconfirm pharmacies. Saves the patient an unnecessary trip.
