Best course that I've experienced in Virginia so far. Great views. Challenging holes. And delighted to find out that it is Troon managed to be able to use my Troon card. Greens are kept in great condition rolling at a 9-10. Fairways were well kept. When it doubt, play safe off the tee as O.B. is legit on many of the holes.

I only played golf here and did not mingle around the clubhouse grounds or restaurant. Golf course has a good mix of challenging holes and fun holes. Definitely a strategic course with bunkers off the tee and around greens that are in play. Each hole is surrounded by trees and routing meanders through wooded areas but not overbearing and very playable. Course was in great shape (played in late November). Enjoyed the round and would definitely play again no hesitation.

Now one of my top 5 in NOVA. Course is in great shape (especially for "fall" golf). Do not mistake this for a "housing development" course. While a few holes are lined with houses/townhomes, most of the course meanders through, what feels like, a nature preserve. That said, "walking 18" is not a consideration (might not even be allowed due to distance between holes). Fairways off the tees are generous, but don't go too far left or right. You will be hitting provisionals if you do....... bring plenty of balls! Course is "generously" bunkered. Accuracy into the greens is "advisable". There is little wiggle room left, right or back. Your short game will be tested. Heed the pro shop advice to play the "shorter" tees!. In the end this course ate me alive. Can't wait to go back next spring when course is in peak condition......and I can get my revenge!

So far this is the most pristine and beautiful courses I’ve played in Northern Va. Some bias due to being peak fall foliage… $89 a round makes it a once a year destination going forward. Immaculately maintained, vibrantly green, undulating terrain and perfect sand traps that I sadly became familiar with. Cannot wait to return.

Had a nice meal while in town visiting my brother who lives in the neighborhood- Shrimp Caesar salad. Waitress was very nice. It was a little hectic - maybe they could use more help? -but that could be the economy. Thank you to our waitress who worked hard to make sure things went well for us. Yes, I would visit again!

WOW ! This course is in PERFECT SHAPE and is AMAZING! The Arlington Seniors Golf Club played here 2 times this week and everyone enjoyed it! 10 out of 10! Craig "The Club Pro" was so nice and helpful, too! We will be back for sure! 10 out of 10!

😊😊I love this place because people are really nice and have a welcoming aura. The antique look of the place is very aesthetic and beautiful. The food here is to die for and the breakfast burger could kill you with how good it tastes. I would highly recommend coming here to buy a house because they have beautiful houses here and have wonderful centers like the social barn, fitness barn, the pool ,and the Alamo is near by. Overall this place is heaven and you should visit sometime.😊😊

I make it a point to visit Potomac Shores at least once a year - and every time I come the course / experience gets better and better. Jack Nicklaus design courses are always challenging but worth while to play, and Potomac Shores has no shortage of elevation changes, shot diversity from hole to hole, and natural beauty to take in. There have been more housing developments popping up around the course over the years, and walking is not allowed due to the substantial distances in between holes. Check this course out if you live in the Woodbridge or Dale City area.

I love this course. The people in the pro shop are friendly. They make you feel as if they do appericate you spending 100 plus a round as well did the starter on the pratice facility. It is well matianed from what i could tell on the day i played. It has holes that are fun and for everyplayer, then some holes are blind shots or just tight but you must have confidence in your swing. The views of the marsh and river are amazing. A great place to step back for a second and take in the views and layout of the course.i was 2.5 hrs from this course when I first played and just moved 35 min away they will be getting a lot of business from me! The only thing they could add is a club cleaner on the side of the cart other then that they are amazing.

My wife and I have played golf in every state except Alaska. The fairways of Potomac Shores were beautiful...the rough was really bad, but that is what rough is supposed to be. We tend to judge golf courses by the greens. These greens were very pretty, and smooth. However, they gave a new meaning to the word slow. When the ball stops on a 10' downhill putt halfway to the hole, something is wrong. If you enjoy extremely slow greens, play this course. If not, go somewhere else.

Course is in wonderful condition. Tee boxes,fairways and greens were excellent. Sand traps all have a fair amount of sand and are very playable. The staff were pleasant and efficient. The driving range is one of the best around. Balls in good condition and a nice level grass tee range. We stopped for lunch afterwards and a nice variety reasonably priced.

We fell in LOVE with this course last fall, but were nervous based on recent reviews posted here. Our experience on the course was GREAT. Enjoyed the round completely. BUT when we got to the clubhouse grill at the end (we made rez), we waited 30 mins without getting as much as a glass of water. >:( Ended up going elsewhere to eat. We will go back, but hope for better service at the restaurant next time.

I played on 9/13/20 and unfortunately the weather has taken its toll on the tee boxes and around the greens. The tees are basicly crusted mud as well as around the greens. The fairways are in pretty good shape. If the course gave a discounted rate it wouldn't be as bad but they do not. I will say the restaurant was great and the staff outstanding.

Nice atmosphere. Attentive staff. My only criticism is that after two great experiences; that on the third visit the Jerk wings were under cooked. Not good. I was able to cook back the house. We could of been sick if eaten on the spot. My other experiences were enjoyable, hence the four stars.

4.5 stars. I have played most public golf courses in the DC metro area. This Jack Nicklaus designed course is the hardest public course in my humble opinion. Every hole is a real challenge. Elevation and then more elevation. A lot of compact greens. Course was in very good to excellent condition. The greens were recently aerated when we played today.

Great view to the golf area. They have outside siting and a great environment. Food is quite good and the drinks are really good! I’m not a “mojito” guy but their coconut mojito got me! The old fashion and Manhattan with Maker Mark’s was outstanding!

I've seen a bunch of mixed reviews, so here's my opinion on a round played March 30. Course is in overall good shape for March - it will come in nicely within a month or two. A few ragged patches that are being worked on, and greens freshly aerated and in places unplayable - but that was disclosed upfront. Hopefully greens come together in the coming weeks. Fairways and bunkers were in good shape. The layout is great, challenging holes with a lot of terrain variation. Course covers a large area and is rarely in view of any homes. It is clear why there was so much hype about the place at the start, despite all the recent negative reviews. Basic amenities were nice - good carts, helpful starters, etc. That said, there were no marshals on the course and play eventually became very slow even though they claim to be reducing the number of tee times right now. There is no snack shop at the turn and only saw cart girl once. We ordered delivery from the clubhouse and it arrived 2 hours later while we were on 18!

Greens and fairways were excellent. Rough and tee boxes were in serious need of repairs, but club seems to be working on it. The course layout and staff are top notch. Not a course for walking or taking a break after nine holes.

The course is in very decent condition! The greens are not lightning quick, but they are very well rolled and smooth. Fluffy bunkers and good looking fairways. The best part of this course though is the layout! Great looking course and tough greens. It's a great place to have a challenging and enjoyable round.

Played on Labor day, 2020 and this diamond in the rough is clearly on its way back to awesome! The fairways and greens were in amazingly immaculate condition, just the way I've been waiting to see again. The tee boxes were a different issue altogether but they are getting there. Management changed the layout of where the 1st tee is and made it MUCH more common sense and friendly as well as fixed many issues the course was having with water in the bunkers and fairways. You will not be walking this course, it is just too spread out between holes (I think the starter stated over 5 miles to be exact) and would take too long. They also redid all bunkers and the ones I saw or ended up in were nice and soft as they should be, although I didn't like being in them, I respect they were in much better condition to play out of. Starter was on top of getting folks out on time, and we were out on time with no sitting around waiting on the greens/fairways/tee boxes.

I caught the course on an unexpected nice day in early March. The course is being readied for the spring, so there were areas under improvement on greens and approaches. No rakes were in bunkers. Greens were fast and dry. Views from tee box are amazing and the course played fine. I look forward to playing in May!

The staff was friendly and the course itself overall was enjoyable, lots of variety and challenge to the holes. However, it is in need of some TLC. Many of the tee boxes were missing grass. A lot of the fairways were still holding water. And the greens had a lot of pock marks that had not been repaired. In addition, the layout of the course has changed some, with each hole being 2 less than what it was before (i.e. hole 18 is now hole 16). You end up spending a lot of time driving from one hole to the next, as it is laid out in one big loop.

One of the most beautiful, best designed, coolest golf courses I've ever played. I've played plenty of golf courses. The carts have a cooler with ice and that's a first for me. The drinks you can get on the course from a refreshment cart are the cheapest of the courses I've played. Real flushable toilets in several holes that you can access using a code they'll give you when you check in. It's one of the longest courses and you can't walk it. Take this from a marathon runner. The food is amazing though the service in the clubhouse is a little slow. Course surrounded by beautiful homes and Potomac shores trails. The course is new so Google maps does not have the clubhouse mapped. I wasted almost half an hour finding the clubhouse. Follow the club house signs. Nice practice range with drinks and a bathroom that is far from clubhouse and hard to find with all the construction.

The course was great only problem why charge 100 when it cart path only also the range start was pretty rude he was forcing people to double up in golf cart with complete Stanger and when this brought up as issue he said nkt my rule the management is forcing me. Very unprofessional staff the range guy and the carts girl were rude after our round they were saying hurry up and unload your cart because we need to give them to other golfer no patience and customer service, also a military vet and disable and the web site we get discount but the proship say not on weekend, so you telling me that as vet for me to get this I have pay weekdays wow only. And the cart girl you will never see her and she was out one time and never ask if I need anything wow. This is wonderful nice golf course one of the best I played but the staff really need some customer service training....... I will be back for the golf

Tough course, definitely plays at or above its 139 Slope off the Golds. Pros - Greens, fairways and bunkers in great shape. - Always enjoy a Jack Nicklaus design, lots of interesting choices to make (par 5 8th has a tree splitting the fairway for your 2nd shot). The elevation changes make for some phenomenal vistas off the tee box. - Price point is about right @ $79 for a twilight, it helped that I had the course to myself on a rainy Sunday so got around in 3hrs Cons - The rough and certain tee boxes are in pretty horrible shape - to the extent that it's pretty easy to lose a ball if you aren't on the fairway - Related to the above, its super demanding off the tee, the margin for error on the front 9 is non existent. Hit the fairway or tee up again. - The new layout is badly done, should have left it the way it was. Basically means there is no turn (bring F&B with you!), huge distances between holes (like this course is legit unwalkable) and no clubhouse view of 18 (which is now 16). I'm not entirely sure what the thought process was in changing it up, but the results are not good. Overall definitely one of the better courses in the area, single digit handicaps will enjoy themselves, but some material flaws that perclude me from giving it a perfect 5.

Very disappointed in the condition of the course. Played on a Tuesday, rate was $79.00. The fairways were okay, a lot of on-going "construction" going on with the roughs and a number of greens had bad spots. Not worth $79.00 However the staff in the pro shop, starter and restaurant personnel were all very friendly, helpful, etc. Just not worth $79.00 at this time.

WOW! Hosted a surprise anniversary party for our parents at this venue. It was absolutely beautiful. This is the perfect place for an event. The furnishings, decor, view, food and service were exceptional. Very high end for reasonable price. We all live out of town and booked this without any issues. The event coordinator, Kelsie is amazing!!

Underwhelmed by the course. Our group just couldn't think of anything exceptional or memorable about the layout. The fairways are pretty divot-filled. I know the rain this year has made it difficult to maintain but for the cost it is pretty much like a public course where no one repairs their divots. The torrential rains has also made the traps like sandy lakes. Seems like some holes have a half-mile drive between them.

Staff is professional and welcoming. Course favors fade shots and has lots of fun and challenging fairway undulations. It's one of a kind for this area. Looking forward to their Fall golf events.

Deceptively challenging layout. Lots of elevation changes. Very good condition. Greens are still very fast although not as fast as they are in season. Cart path only in the off season to preserve the fairways. Reasonable green fees in the off season however, too expensive during the season.

We have played Potomac Shores Golf Club 5 times and have had very good experiences. The course has always been a good shape and the staff has been courteous. The course is set up in a big circle so you continue to head away from the clubhouse and if there is no snack cart out make sure you have a snack and drink with you. The driving range is very good, but it is a little small and is located a long way from the clubhouse and 1st Tee. The course itself has a ton of dog leg rights and the greens can be very tricky. FYI...even though the name is Potomac Shores you will not have any views of the Potomac as long as there are leaves on the trees. Overall I recommend playing the course at least once. It is a challenging-fair golf course and worth the money to play.

Re: Tidewater Grill - Drinks were good, the food was pretty good and the prices are (mostly, an extra $12 to add salmon to a salad, yikes) reasonable. I am new to the community, so i look forward to visiting this place a lot. I had to take away one star for the appetizer hummus. It was bad. Really bad. Also, some of the chairs are fabric and the stains werent the most inviting.

BEST local course that is public. I am a member of a country club BUT feel Potomac Shores facility and course is on par if not better than most clubs. Jack Nicklaus designed course, If you haven't played here yet, make a tee time! You won't regret it.

Beautiful challenging course. I remember each and every hole, because they are unique and fair. They aren't ridiculously difficult, and you can easily see what you need to do, except on a few 'blind' tee shots. Signature of a Nicklaus course. The food is EXCELLENT! Why pay private club rates when you can have it all with Potomac Shores Golf Club. Its a bit 'misleading' as you drive through Route 1 Dumfries then BAM 5 Star Golf Course and Club. I usually go with my friends to their country club, and wanted to return the favor and brought them to PSGC. One of my friends couldn't believe it because it was nicer than their club!

Potomac Shores Golf Club is the first publicly accessible Jack Nicklaus Signature design in the Washington DC metro area. This excellently crafted Nicklaus design expansively sweeps its way out-and-back through an attractive hardwood forest. Although lacking any holes that play directly alongside the creek or river, the roaming layout does incorporate many dramatic elevation changes.
