Reidding Deurance

Fairways and course design are both great. Big letdown are the greens and “clay”traps. Seemed like most greens got hit with a pretty bad disease. Did not make it fun trying to score after a good approach shot. Had a fun round, but probably won’t be back for $50. Maybe a twilight rate?

Rate was reasonable and 5 tees are are a plus, but greens are in bad shape. Since the tee time intervals are 7 minutes lack of ranger was a problem when twosome behind us skipped holes to move up and created delays that caused round to be 5 hours.

Great course! Wish the bunkers were in better shape though. Love the layout of this course. Challenging but not too tough for the beginner to amateur golfer. The prices have gone up too high to play regularly so this was my monthly trip to play. $52 for a round of golf at this course would have never been worth it a few years ago. But now most courses are around that to play.

Definitely my favorite golf course in the area. It’s got a great practice area and the staff is always incredible. The course could be in better condition but it’s a great middle-ground for the average golfer who doesn’t want to pay $70+ for a round but doesn’t want to deal with poor conditions either. This place is great.

The course is in great shape and beautiful scenery. Watch out for crows that will steal food and even your cell phone out of your cart! All employees super friendly and helpful. Shout out to Mack!

Nice course with multiple tee boxes. Greens had considerable ball mark damage (typical of public courses) especially on greens where the pin hadn't been moved for a while.

Best 25$ you can spend in golf. It's a proper Rees Jones with a casual distance. You're gonna be offered easy outs for guaranteed bogies, or find yourself at an uncomfortable distance or in front of a knee knocking hazard. I say go for glory, bee's only sting when you're scared. Mentally prepare yourself for tons of force water carry holes (Welcome to Hampton Roads). The design is challenging, but gettable for anyone who applies course management. And speaking of course management, fantastic. Great job greenskeep! Conditions at Honey Bee are comparable to courses way more expensive. Bunkers are fresh, greens are perfectly firm and fast. Fairways are firm and are perfect condition. The practice area is ideal. Man I'm impressed they could do so much and only charge 25$ to walk. The shop is small but has everything you need and nothing you don't (I got a polo). And the bar has the best transfusion I've had and for a very reasonable price. I've been checking in here every once in a while for a few years, and this is the best I've seen it. I love where they're going. Maybe I'll stop in next weekend.

Played this morning for the first time, the course was so well laid out and beautiful, gorgeous holes with high risk high reward shots that skilled players could enjoy as well as safer routes for less skilled. Great experience will come again! Club house workers were very polite as well. Well done

A solid course, with some interesting holes. Sept 21 course is is good shape (except for the sand traps which most are terrible) amenities include snack bar, a scarcely stocked pro shop full driving range, and a pool facility.

The course is in pretty good shape for this early in the season. some standing water in the bunker, but we have had a lot of rain so its to be expected. The greens are still a bit sandy, but are rolling true and should bee really nice in about a month. all in all its pretty nice, not sure I'd pay $50 on a Saturday morning though...

Great course. The staff, from the guy in the pro shop, to the starter, to the guys behind the bar were very courteous, friendly and professional. The course itself was in great shape, the greens perfect despite the heat. This is a thinking golfers course, risk reward holes, yet wide fairways, but with water everywhere, and well placed bunkers. Thoroughly enjoyable round of golf. Recommended.

I had given a review previously that had some negatives and some positives I'm here to say they put a ton of work into this course over the winter and it's damn near perfect. The staff is friendly and helpful. The bunkers have new sand. The greens are all in great shape. Its my favorite course and I had previously given it 3 stars but while most other courses in tidewater are letting themselves go honeybee is fighting the good fight. 5 stars guys great job on the work over the winter.

Greens were just horrendous, must’ve let the rough go for awhile then mowed it a few days ago, lots of grass clippings...the course maintenance could use some TLC, tee boxes were suspect at best. Not sure if I’d play here again unless the price was lower or the course maintenance was upgraded.

Honey Bee was a fantastic choice of venue for my best friend's baby shower. The space is open and airy with the focal point of the room being large windows leading out to the golf course. They owner and staff were nothing short of amazing. They helped with set up, took care of clean up, made sure everything went smoothly during the event, and helped fulfill every request we had, whether it be a miscellaneous item we forgot to bring or providing their own equipment for us to use. It was wonderful and we cannot wait to utilize this space again.

A few unfortunate things made the day less than perfect. Rain the day before left the course very wet and not accessible by cart. They refused to allow one person with a heart condition to take a cart by himself (out of 19 in our group). We were told to start on hole 10 where the backup was 15 minutes. The greens are good and it looked like the fairways would be really good when they dried out.

Very nice inexpensive golf course. I grew up playing all the local golf courses in the area and this is one of my favorite. Gets pretty wet after some rain but all in all I would definitely recommend this course to anyone, at any skill level. :)

A great course in Virginia Beach. Some holes are very challenging. As far as most of the course is going Virginia Beach this one has some pretty decent fairways. It doesn't feel like that you're hitting the ball off of rock hard ground. Staff is wonderful too. I had a shoe blow out on the 9th hole and the pro shop cut me a deal on a new pair.

So, Honey Bee USED to be a fantastic place to play. Recently, the greens have been covered, absolutely covered with geese poop. Sunday morning, covered in geese poop. You would think that for the amount of money you spend to play here, it would be better maintained. Please clean up the greens. The fairway without a crapload of grass clippings would be nice too.

Hardpack bunkers not player friendly. Tee boxes 7,11,14 need repair level out. Senior tee on 7 needs to be elevated.

Back in September I was visiting the area from south Texas. I played your awesome golf course. I’m about a 20 handicapper so I’m not that good. I was playing hole # 10 and hit my drive onto a bunker on the right on #9 fairway. Not being very good I rode the cart over and pulled my ball out of the sand onto grass to hit my second shot. I was to the right and short of green about 15 yards. I drove up to where the ball was without getting too close to green and finished out the hole. At this point an employee of the course approached and asked in a crude and loud voice “who is driving this cart? I said I was and he proceeded to scold me rudely for during the cartto that area. There was no signage prohibits carts from being in that area. I’m a retired texas state trooper and retired justice of the peace judge. I felt this fellow who appeared to be in his mid twenties is very lacking in people skills. I always adhere to the rules and if I violated them it was not intentional. This young man should learn to respect his elders there’s ways to communicate without being rude. Your course was excellent to bad it’s spoiled by a rude employee.

Course is scenic and challenging. Arrived an hour early but the starter was incredibly rude. Won't repeat due to that alone. Also there was nobody in the clubhouse/bar area when I walked in and waited for a long time. I could've taken anything I wanted; I took a bottle of water and left $2 in the tip jar.

Course should have been in better shape. Was not impressed. Bathroom was full of water. Guys really-Lawsuit waiting to happen. Struck by ball in head. Friend just seconds before had almost same fate. Called Proshop to advise only one guy on range doing this. Was never asked if needed help etc. Nothing- that's just wrong. Marshall should have paid attention to several groups that didn't have a clue how to properly use a cart. All in all not bad but a few minor slip ups didn't help them on this day.
