The course still needs some work but you can see they are working on it. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It's well worth the money to go play there. It wasn't to busy.

We played Tarpon Woods Friday at 12:00 4/29/22 and this is what I found. I've played this course since 1990 and I've seen it through good times and bad. First off it's a great layout, long and challenging but wide open and very forgiving. It's a wildlife paradise, deer, hogs, gators, turtles and hawks everywhere. We've had very little rain this year and the course has suffered as a result. The tee boxes are horrible but the fairways are spotty but dry with a lot of roll. Most greens have some issues, two are beautiful and lush but I think the rainy season will solve a lot of issues. The clubhouse is the main attraction here right now, they have a restaurant with good food and a nice quiet bar. It's upsetting because this golf course has unlimited potential, it's a nice tract and there are thousands of potential golfers living within a ten minutes drive. This course is suffering from the dreaded death spiral: poor condition = fewer players = low cash flow = decreased maintenance and upkeep = poorer conditions = fewer and fewer players = losing money = no maintenance = no players = bankruptcy = new real estate development. I hope that never happens. I wish I could fix it but I can't.

We enjoyed the golf experience today and realize the course has come a long way to bettering itself with hard work and persistence. The food experience had something to be desired. Out of a lot of items and just not up to snuff. Good luck with everything and maybe you guys are on the right track. Keep at it.

The course layout is excellent. However, some greens are in need of attention, especially the 6th green. The fairways and tee boxes are also in need of attention. But the real problem seems to be in the caliber of golfers who play there. Though they understand how to hith the ball(sometimes),many seem to lack a basic knowledge of golf etiquette. The play as if no other golfers exist; they seem to think that letting faster players go through is a mark of inferiority. They rarely fill their divots although ample sand is provided on carts and par3s. I think that is the real problem. Jan Stephenson has made a real effort to improve the course but she will need lots of help from players to return a gray golf course to it's proper status. I will continue to play there, if only to support a wonderful lady and her effort to improve the course. Oh, and Legends Bar is open again. It's a nice place to stop for a bite and a drink. A very well laid out course with good yardages on each hole. Light on the number of sand traps but the sand wasn't very playable. We played early on a Sunday and it wasn't busy at all. Apparently tlit gets busier a bit later in the day. The greens were beautiful for the most part with only small rough patchy areas.

The parmesan Crusted Pork Chops were FABULOUS!!! They were so TENDER and tasted GREAT!!! The Asparagus also had a nice Crunch and Taste. Will DEFINITELY Eat there again.

Friendly staff and a nice little restaurant to relax in after a game. The course has lots of natural beauty and it definitely its share of challenging holes. Great place to grab a quick game without any hassle.

I had been told the course was not in good shape. I was pleasantly surprised! The greens were in awesome shape and rolling fast. The fairways were great. The range was nice. The clerk was a little overwhelmed because the course was very busy. I would definitely recommend this course. Challenging course. I will be back soon to play.

Overall decent track, however the greens are in awful shape. We played the front 9 and all but 2 greens were completely burnt out with little to no grass. The fairways were actually in better shape than the green. Have played this track for the past 6 years and this was the worst condition I’ve seen it.

Compared to 2 years ago, the course is in good shape. Played here 3 times now over the past 4 weeks with 3 different 4somes. New ownership has done a great job turning this course around. Also, as a Veteran, I appreciate the Foundation that Jan has set up. Keep up the great work. Also, thanks Matt for the good customer service

Worth playing. I had crossed this off my play list several years ago due to poor conditions. Played today based upon a friends recommendation and boy have things changed. Greens were in good shape and roll true. fairways and tee boxes were fine. A good layout and improving under new ownership.

First time there and the debit machine did not work. It took all my cash to pay (I was lucky to have enough with me). The greens are pretty sad and the fairways on the first nine had a lot of debris on them. There are no maps anywhere to show where you are aiming and measurements appear to be really off from the tee boxes to the greens when you read from the score card. The carts appear to be new and were clean. I'm not sure I would return.

Course was fun to play and challenging with a really nice layout. Lots of trees and water. Overall in okay shape, except for the greens which are mostly in poor condition. Restaurant was good.

Beautiful course similar to a links so it’s wide open and holes are close to one another. Limited shade so beware of that; can feel like the beach on a sunny day..

After playing three other courses here in Florida I was very happy to find TW. The older reviews should be eliminated. The course is in the best shape of any of the four I have played over the last three weeks. Fairways actually had grass (not so at Tarpon Springs), the sand in the bunkers was actually soft and one could swing through it and the greens were in good shape (again, not so at TSprings). Tricky in spots,but fair. Going back again this week!

The course is in good condition. Tees are not fairways and greens are. Have played there many times down thru the years, had some misgivings from reading reviews, glad I went and will go back. If they keep the rates reasonable no reason not to play there.

Very nice layout. The course was just purchased by a new group. The work that was accomplished since November has changed the course condition very well. A lot of work is being done at present. The new owners will have it on top soon.

Another ABSOLUTELY AMAZING visit!! After seeing shellfish nachos on the menu and seeing pics others have posted, I was on a mission to try them, so stopped in after a day of racing at Tampa Downs. After reviewing the menu (and paring my list down to 5 things), I decided on the Triple Shellfish Nachos I've had at the top of my list for a few weeks. THESE ARE BETTER THAN YOU CAN IMAGINE! Plenty of lobster, crab, and shrimp, and as I dug in, I unexpectedly hit the piping hot smoked gouda cheese amazing goo that is my new addiction! And the double-meat lobster roll, OMG! All this food and drinks, and can't beat the price! Got pics this time, but not after big eyes got the best of us as usual, and we had already started in, but you can see by the pics there is plenty of food! Put this place at the top of your list, it is absolutely phenomenal! Kudos again Wood and staff, front to back! Love you guys!

You can get out for a good price, and it has a great layout. But the greens need some serious work, and my last time there, the pins had not been moved in at least a week, leaving very ragged holes, And it plays best for a southpaw.

This golf course has been redone with new management. Although the course is not excellent by florida standards, yet, the value is. the greens are nice and the course is fun without being too difficult.

The Crooked Wood is the new public restaurant in the Clubhouse and definitely worth a visit! A fun place full of TV'S, Happy Hour and a nice menu with different specials daily. Three of us had the special of 5 chicken wings with Mac and Cheese. The chicken wings were huge plus a large portion of Mac and Cheese. Our other friend had the Kobe burger and it was cooked per ordered and yummy. Easy location for those of us in East Lake, Ridgemoor, Landsbrook and Tarpon Woods areas.
