Reviews of Bay Palms Golf Complex
Play all the time on the base with my buddy Dale Hammond ,Green have gotten a lot better please don't close north course if you do I won't cone half as much
Pretty nice course. Played on the north one. Good price. Few of the greens were ate up but any time you can golf in December you can't complain. They only thing I will say is there are alot of rude players on this course. I don't know if it's because it's on a Airforce base and they all prissy and stuck up but I have never wanted to smack more people upside the head playing golf as I did at this course.
Great place and super convenient if staying at famcamp, only about a mile away.
Some useful information:
They do have rental clubs.
The driving range uses ball machines that are cash only unless you purchase a range key which you preload money onto. Very convenient and they give a discount.
The driving range is 24/7 unless it's raining. This is a huge perk, just bring cash or key.
Always hit in the direction of the water tower, this will keep the cars and peds safe.
The proshop is pretty nice and staff super friendly.
Balls purchased in $1, $3, $5 increments. Very affordable, cheapest around.
Been several years since I played here. Price ok, however condition of course below par-not what it was.
I'm not a golfer but I helped arrange a tournament for members of law enforcement.
The players loved the opportunity to play the course.
I rode around a few times and loved the scenery.
I use it because it is convenient to my work and home. The practice facilities are fine, but you'll mostly be in direct sun. There is no shade to be found.
Both courses are playable land well designed even though the maintenance is only average.
Biggest drawback is that most people will be paying $40+ round. I would give this 4 starts at 20-25 a round. The value is not really there.
Bay Palms has 2 courses, North and South. Historically, the South course has been the best of the 2. The North course is cheaper.
The practice facility is also pretty great, with a large range, a bunker area, a chipping area, and a putting green. The restaurant 8 iron grill is nice, and so is the pro shop. During the summer, you absolutely will need bug spray, as the mosquitos are out in full force.
In the winter, it is one of my favorite budget friendly courses around.
Played the South course, good shape although it was pretty wet in places, enjoyed it very much - 2/18/22 driving range trees in better shape looks like the grass is growing again
Best AFB course I've played at. South course is better kept, but two 18 tracks to choose here. They remade the South and it is beautiful! The grounds are kept well enough, but the greens tend to roll a little slow, and change on a few holes. Very worth your time!
Had to play white tees because my usual gold tees were way too close to the red tees my wife was playing, less than 200 yards in total distance
The North course is old and needs some TLC but the low rate is enticing. No complaints, I got what I paid for.
A 36-hole facility on the base with a friendly staff and plenty of amenities (full locker room, snack bar, meeting rooms, pro shop) South course is in good shape but the north course needs help.
First time golfing. Course was "Meh" and pathways had potholes & muddy puddles throughout the 19 holes.
This is decent course, albeit one that isn’t either all that remarkable or that you can just play if you feel like it. Being on MacDill AFB, makes it unique to the area. It has some interesting topography as compared to many other Tampa Bay courses, and is literally situated right on the top of the bay. There are a handful if courses that are comparable in quality. You’re not missing anything special if you never get the chance, but if you want to play the full alphabet of Tampa courses, you’ll enjoy your round.
Important tip, as it’s on the base, if you’re not military, make sure your name is spelled correctly on the access list, or expect a big hassle getting in. As well, drive the speed limit on base.
I played the south course, it was great. The staff allowed me to borrow a putter at no charge. I was able to take my time playing and learning the course. Had to make several adjustments in play to manage the wind.
AMAZING food and EXCELLENT quality of service. I absolutely love coming here when I can get away. Always quiet, and always a nice break away from the office! (I highly recommend the Cuban Sandwich at Fairways)
Great course! And reasonably priced on the Air Force Base.
(Need military ID to get in - or go with someone that does, depending on security levels).
I always like to stop at the golf club and have breakfast when I'm down on the base for an eye doctor appointment or some other thing where I wind up getting there early it's a great dining area and nice views of the golf course the food is good and the prices are reasonable.
Beautiful option for golf. Waterfront views. Challenging course. Outstanding affordability
North needs work, South course is pretty good. Good rate
Fairly nice course except tee times seemed stacked on top of each other and some of the greens were burnt to a crisp.
Two 18 hole courses, south course is most popular north course is my preference. South Course is a bit better maintained, but also busier.
Really nice little restaurant and golf shop. The scenery on this course is really nice!
It was wonderful. Course is in good shape, lots of water, and birdlife, and a nice breeze. What more could you want?
Good golf course for a military facility (especially the South Course) that has a challenging layout with a couple of holes right along the bay and a nice club house.
Very reasonable prices, large club house and store, fancy touch screens in the golf carts, and a full 18 hole course!
The bay course is in good shape. The other course is almost not worth playing
I don't play golf. Though it looks like a nice golf course. I work out there off and on pulling fiber optic cable in with the company I work for
Very reasonable prices for golfing and food. Please take mosquito spray if you get out on the course....
They need to make coffee according to Starbucks seeing that's the coffee they sell, first it's good then they make it weak. Shows you can make good coffee bad.
You can not beat these courses anywhere in Tampa Bay area. They are the best!
Fun golf tournament with th Propeller Club. Nice to know I could play here as a civilian with advance notice!
Course was in fair condition. Some of the greens had dead spots, reclining grass.
What a great service from staff. Grass seams to need attention. What does it cost for lockers in the clubhouse?
The food it's great, the customer service excellent, very friendly people around always...
Very good shape. And not busy during the week.
Too many golf courses in Tampa Riverview area as good or better and same or better price
The south course is very scenic and challenging. A must visit.
Excellent staff and an awesome golf course!
Great course, real challenge and good price
Very Good Food. Relaxing Atmosphere. Good Social Distancing. Great Food
We like the course and always have a great time
Best course in South Tampa . . Great greens; good condition
Course is well laid out, and we got to see some Animal Planet.
Nice course but completely unplayable without bug spray
Peaceful serene and challenging. Be sure to bring hard core bug spray
Food made to order. Great eats. Friendly staff.
Two 18 hole courses. Well maintained. Rarely crowded.
This place is awesome and the resturaunt has good food as well.
Location, location, location, great course. AF base so you need DOD id.
Great service. Amazing food. Great golf.
Great golf. Great food. Friendly service.
Good course in tampa. Well maintained and on the water
Just went to hit golf balls and set up a new driver.
Good food, not that pricey. Fairly quick service.
Terrific course at very reasonable prices.
Nice driving range. Food is good.
Greens continue to get better and cannot beat the price.
South Course has some of the best greens in the area.
Reasonable price, kind staff, easy afternoon.
Breakfast was really good. Nice atmosphere
Bteakfast is fast, good, and reasonably priced.
Close to Airport, shops and well priced accomodation
Nice people. Very helpful
