Reviews of Wildwood Golf Course
Had a terrific first round. Friendly staff, fun and varied layout. Got to use nearly every club in the bag. Pretty as any course in the area. I’m coming back in two days with some old pals.
What I liked most about it was that my wife felt comfortable there. Can’t tell you how many clubs develop a culture where women are made to feel like trespassers. But Wildwood had a varied and diverse group today and it made me excited to return.
Fun and challenging layout. Friendly staff in the pro shop. Definitely a beautiful course! Can’t wait to play again!
Wildwood has it all in the name! It's wild and in the woods. Expect to use a cart or be sore the next day from walking- but those are both great options!
Nestled in the foothills of Forest Park (one of the nation's largest urban pakrs) the gorgeous setting allows unparalleled views. If you find yourself frustrated about your golf game, you can take a moment to see beautiful glimpses Mt. Hood, Mt. St. Helens, and countless other bounties of nature.
Oh yes of course- golf! The course itself is well-maintained, and has its own unique blend of challenges and opportunities. Navigating through a "normal" course is challenged in its own rite, but couple that with nestling into the side of a mountain and you have Wildwood!
You owe it to yourself to make the trip out there to enjoy it. You can thank me later!
very cool course.
nice staff.
over 70 yamaha golf carts stoked and ready to rip!
Usually always walk 18. It’s a great workout and beautiful scenery. Always a pleasure, no matter how bad the play.
Speedy greens, well maintained. Good drainage in the rainy season.
Really enjoy Wildwood. The course is always in good condition and the prices always seem fair. I play courses that charge more or just as much as Wildwood, but are over crowded and not as pretty. The layout provides variety for the holes. It has a parkland feel that is cut into a hill side. There is only one house that lines the fairway. About half of the holes have an elevated gain at the green or tee box. It might be a ride for some. If the walk from the first tee box or the walk to the 9th green look steep to you. You have a similar walk about 9 or 10 times. Even though it is right off HWY 30, it is really peaceful on the course.
Very nice course. Prices are good, staff is friendly, greens are well maintained. Back 9 more challenging than the front. Get a gas cart, some of the electric ones can barely climb the hills. Oh and if you are not in shape take a cart as the hills are a plenty.
I have golfed in most golf courses around this area and this is my favorite one! I suggest grabbing a golf cart especially if playing 18. Staff is friendly , every time we have been the course has been well maintained. Shop is small so dont expect to come here and be able to stock up on golf clothing, shoes and clubs. I live 45 mins with no traffic and i say its def worth the drive.
Beautiful and fun course. I love to walk it, but lots of steep hills. Staff is extremely friendly.
Beautiful course just outside of Portland near Sauvie Island. Very hilly and challenging. The course is well cared for with very nice greens and fairways. Views are amazing! Driving range is small, no drivers allowed.
Course was immaculate with beautiful views throughout. Staff in club house was helpful and the other golfers were courteous. Has to be the best value in Portland. Honestly could not recommend higher.
This place is amazing I would love to keep it a well kept secret so I could have it for myself but it's too beautiful not to share it
This is an edit of a favorable review I left 5 years ago. Club house is very nice. Great for venues. Just give me a cold beer and decent burger/hot dog and a place to sit and enjoy it. Course is fair, greens are excellent. Course is fun. Pace of play too slow. Tee times are too tight? But mostly people, learn to play ready golf. There is not an amateur golfer on this planet that needs a range finder. The greens fees and cart cost are a bit much for this course.
Great course. Beautiful to the eye. Greens roll nicely. You should go play it. PS might want to take a cart.
One of my favorite courses in Portland. Beautiful, hilly course with interesting holes.
Great price and fun challenging course. Quite hilly adding to the difficulty.
Four of us from Honolulu, Hawaii played this course on September 26, 2016 and we absolutely enjoyed the round. Great staff, course and surroundings. Had previously called Bob to inquire about the course due to the mixed reviews. Wildwood GC provides exceptional value and we put this course on our play again course whenever we're up here in the Portland area. Our foursome consisted of three Waialae Country Club and one Mid-Pacific Country Club members. Mahalo Bob for taking great care of us.
Returned to play with some other buddies on May 6, 2017 before heading back to Honolulu the next day after a five day golfing tour in the greater Portland area. They were impressed Wildwood is on their "will play again" list. Thanks Tom and the rest of the staff for taking care of us and welcoming us back. Will be back up there in early-October with the original 2016 Honolulu guys!
PS: Wildwood has great drainage so this is one of three courses we now know that is playable after heavy rains.
Love this course. Each hole is unique and presents a different challenge. Can almost always find a tee time here unlike courses in town. As others have said, walking can be tough due to the elevation, but all in all one of my favorite golf courses.
Great course, atmosphere, experience and service!
This course is definitely one of my favorites in the Portland area! Fantastic conditions every time I've been there and never more than 4 hours to play 18, even when they are busy. Great mix of holes where no two are the same, thanks to elevation changes, doglegs, and different obstacles/hazards. Oh, and not to mention the beautiful scenery and views as you make your way around the course. You won't be disappointed!
Loved this place was my first time and I am going back alot more very challenge course
Just played here on Sunday 10/6, about three weeks post-punching. The greens are fantastic. They're rolling very smooth and true..and at a great speed. They're firm, yet they're holding shots the way they should. Also, the traps were all hand raked, and fairways were very playable.
Look for a new expanded green complex and new lower tee on the par three # 6, and new tee locations on # 7. One thing that always impresses me about Wildwood, is the attention to detail, and the constant reinvestment in the course and clubhouse.
Also, the service is always friendly and accommodating. If you've never played Wildwood, be sure to give it a try. It's a real hidden gem of a golf course, with plenty of interesting holes, lots of character and challenges, and spectacular views.
And finally, Wildwood is in such a peaceful, serene setting, that it has an amazing overall calming impact on my game, as you can see in the photo below, taken at the 15th tee.
Nice course. Challenging to play.
Special shout out to Barb. Awesome Customer Service.
Best place I've played golf at so far granted I'm just learning how to play but nice course beautiful well maintained it's hilly so me and my girl used to golf cart but man was it wonderful and if you go on to their app they have daily discounts and deals where you can actually get in there for like 30 bucks a person
Wonderful experience! Melissa and the entire front staff were amazing. I haven't played in many years, and the front 9 was a great way to ease back into the sport. Well maintained and easy to navigate, and we'll definitely be coming back for live music.
The course was in excellent condition considering the hot weather of the past week. Greens rolled great, but are quicker than you would think. Keep it up !! Pace of play was under 4 hours...perfect !!
Thanks to all for a great day of golf !!
My favorite course in the Portland area, and now I'm only 15 minutes away. All the staff are very cordial and friendly. The course is always in great shape and drains well. I think you have the best greens around, they are fast yet fair, and always give a challenge.
New to golf. The course is stellar. Absolutely beautiful and well manicured. I would definitely consider getting a cart as there are lots of steep climbs here. Staff was cheerful and nice. My only complaint is the price. This place is spendy, so will only come back once in a while.
Excellent course! Hilly, challenging and fun. The staff were super friendly and helpful. I had not played it in years, it looked to me like they really upgraded the aesthetics quite a bit.
Wildwood is a great course. Lots of fun, fair prices. They have a friendly helpful staff, and keep the course in great shape.
I love this place. I have been golfing here for 20 years. This is NOT a walking course unless u want a workout. Very forgiving fairways and very relaxing scenery. It oozes "relax." Don't get me wrong it's challenging!
Great course! Well taken care of and great layout. Lots of elevation changes make it a little more difficult but definitely worth it. Looking forward to playing there again soon!
Wildwood Provided an amazing experience for both my two young children and myself. The management and staff were amazingly helpful and friendly and working with me to provide a wonderful experience for my kids who are learning to enjoy the game of golf. Beautiful views, fun course layout, reasonable pricing, and great condition. Will absolutely make the 30 minute drive again to play at this course.
I drove for 2hrs to play this course and not to optimistic during the drive. As I pulled in I was enlightened by a nice view of an interesting set of holes that are well maintained. From undulating and elevated greens to challenging and fun fairways that have intersecting streams passing through and many are water lined by them too. I was so pleased I drove there for a second round and am planning to drive the 4hr round trip to play there again Thursday too. 10 out of 10 have recommended to all my friends.
They've made SO many beautiful improvements to the grounds and course! Wonderful, helpful staff 👏 Loved my nine out there today! …
Went here with my wife the other night for the first time and had a great experience! Amazing value for the price. The staff was very friendly, giving us guidance on how each hole plays and showing us where all the practice facilities were. The view from the clubhouse is fantastic and they had a wide assortment of beverages.
The course played very well. Lots of opportunity to attack the holes, but you definitely have to keep the ball straight otherwise you won't have the angle. The elevated tee boxes make you think about the shots. Conditions of fairways and greens were great. And the views throughout are wonderful, such a pristine location to play but not too many trees along the fairways that make play frustrating. A well maintained course and operation that we will definitely visit again and bring our friends!
Thanks Wildwood team!
Great little Golf Course seldom that busy always a challenge prices are usually reasonable they did a great job of remodeling their dining area and deck
Great course, good price. One of few courses at this price level always improving their course. New paved cart paths today and the greens are immaculate. New Manager Melissa is awesome as well.
We walked 18 last weekend and it is a very challenging, well designed course. It is also very well maintained compared to most public courses. The holes just have a lot of nice variety some are super tight so you need to be able to keep your ball in the fairway. The people who work there were also super nice and competent. The course played 4:10 walking which I thought was good given the hilliness. Long and short, very good day of golf. Only two things I would suggest are: need water on more and marshalling a bit more, the people in front of us took about 6 practice swings each every hole which was kinda of annoying and disrupted the tempo. Try it out, it was a a great experience for us.
Wonderful course year round!
Awesome par 3s brilliant long par 5s
Glorious setting, great staff, and we love the weekend music. Thank you!
I don't have much to say about this course. It is absolutely stunning. They take care of the course very well. you could see some piles of trimmed trees that they had taken care of (and set off to the side way out of play as to not bother anyone). The grass was all very well maintained and I went in the early spring/late winter when it was very wet and rainy. there were a few wet spots but that was to be expected. even the wet spots were well maintained and there was no signs of damage from any mowers or other golfers. Great course! I plan on playing this course a lot! The employees were also very friendly and helpful. Well done!
I love this course. Probably the most picturesque I’ve played in the Portland area. A good variety of holes and fun elevation changes, dog legs, etc. Staff is always extremely friendly and helpful. Course always seems to be in good shape too.
Absolutley incredible customer service. My son fell well running to the club house and the lady checking tee times brought him bandaids and helped him feel better. On top of that incredible staff inside. Course was in great condition. Only comment would be the greens were a tad slow, however that could just be because i missed 6 birdie putts :)
Super fun track, awesome greens, and lots of trees. Nice clubhouse, but small driving range. Unless you're up for a workout carts are recommended, elevation changes are over 100'.
Best course for the money you'll ever find. Elevated tees make it a blast!
The course was beautiful and in good shape, however I felt the distance and direction from many green may allow someone to get hit by a stray ball, came very close to us several times. Make fence on course side of driving range taller, we were dodging balls as we played the 10th.
Beautiful course and fantastic staff. Definitely worth a visit.
Awesome track!! Haven't played for years because I moved out of the area, and now better than ever. Challenging, well kept and a good value. Definitely going to visit more often.
Been my home course for years. From scrambles to golfing with friends or my wife, I’ve always enjoyed this course. A lot of hills, but you never hear traffic, it’s relaxing, and affordable. Try not to park on the far west part of the parking lot. You might get hit from golf balls from the 18th. Great staff, well maintained, great location and affordable. Check out The Meating Place up Cornelius Pass for lunch after a round.
This course has great value. I really enjoy playing here. It is fun and challenging. One thing I like most is that it's located out of the city, in the hills north of Portland. The landscape and the course are beautiful. The staff is friendly (most of the time), and competent.
Difficult to walk - get a power cart your first time out. But fun layout and beautiful views! Greens were a bit slow and bumpy my last round - usually better.
Interesting course that is pretty well kept. Make sure you rent a power card unless you're looking for a real workout. The hills are a major factor on over half of the holes.
Great Golf Course. Lots of terrain, but you can still reach the greens even if you are not a super long hitter. If you haven't played this course in the last few years, you will be impressed with the improvements. New club house and beautiful condition. Plays well in wet weather. I live in the Portland West Hills, and I can drive to Wildwood quicker than I can drive to Rose City or Heron Lakes in Portland!
Enjoyed walking this great golf course in very good condition. Lots of variety, several raised tees and challenging holes. Nice clubhouse with fabulous views to enjoy a pint after the round.
My buddies and I have been playing Wildwood for the last 15 years. We play here twice a week, year round, rain or shine. There are many courses in the Portland area to choose from, but this is our golf course of choice. Starting with the owner, Bill O'meara, the staff is consistently friendly and attentive. It's obvious they take great pride in their golf course, as evidenced by their continuous improvements, from the clubhouse to tee to green. Make no mistake, this is a quality golf course, fun to play, challenging, yet fair, and always in immaculate shape. The greens keeper and his grounds crew are top notch. All in all, an awesome place to play golf.
A fun yet challenging course that includes changes in elevation that challenge players to choose the right club. These changes in elevation are nothing drastic but, do occur on several holes where the difference between par and bogey can be a matter of choosing the right club to reach the green. The putting greens are always consistent and in good condition.
I have been coming here since I was a teenager so 20 years and it is always fun. Was in great shape this July and everyone was nice. Prices are fine. Fun holes, lots of up and down and creative routes. Not sure what is not to like from the other reviewers but having played nearly every course in the area, this is one I never miss when I am in town.
Hands down favorite golf course!! Highly recommend this beautiful place. It's not to far outside of Portland, great view of mount Hood. Staff is very friendly, course is gorgeous & well kept, challenging but fun!
Never played here before. Course was in great condition and the pace of play was about 3.5 hours, would have been quicker if my partner and I didn't shank so hard. Highly recommend making the trek out there for 18.
I play at WWood once a week most of the year. It is my favorite course, having played worldwide. It is a precision course requiring thought on most shots. Lots of fun which is the goal. The grounds crew does an excellent job on the course, which continues to improve every year. Thanks guys!!
The driving range is not one to be desired for beginners since it's a controlled driving range. It should be called a chipping range since the only thing you can really use on it is a pitching wedge . It's an elegant beautiful place if you're An Elegant type of person. But if your snooty and snobby than this is the place for you...please note: it wasn't the staff.
The staff was wonderful!!
I'd love to give this four or five stars because it really is a beautiful public course but it's not that well maintained and it's a bit crowded. Don't get rentals here because they're absolutely garbage. however really affordable and if you want to get some pretty holes for a good price this is highly recommended it's just not premium
This place is a bit of a hidden gem. I played it five or six years ago and thought it was...ehh...just ok. I think I played it back then on a cloudy day, so the views weren't as good. And the course wasn't in the best of shape. I moved within about 15 minutes of the course recently, and have played it a couple times in the last couple months. The course is in significantly better shape than I remember from years ago - the greens are in great shape and the fairways are well kept. What sells me most on this course are the views. The views of the surrounding mountains are some of the best views from a golf course in the Portland area - maybe THE best? It's no Bandon Trails obviously (top 100 public course nationally), but some of the holes as you get away from the clubhouse have somewhat of a similar rugged feel that reminded me of the Bandon Trails holes 7-14 that are back in the woods. I'll be playing here quite a bit more...
Really wanted to rate this 4 or more. The work they have done in the clubhouse is fantastic! The layout of the course is great, and was nice the last time. There were a couple of issues that made this last trip very unpleasant. 1) the cup cutter they are using is creating messed up holes, 2) they really need to stop spray painting the cups white, or invest in a tool that can do it correctly, 3) they need to fire the player assistant that was parked on a path near the 13th green. He had a horrible attitude when I was going to get my ball which was right off the path. I pulled the cart up the path and he was aggressively yelling about it. He told me to get my ball and go. Apparently the path had a sign saying off limits, but I did not see it, and the cart could easily have been parked 5 feet away and "off the path" but he had to yell about it.
Beautiful golf course off of Hw 30 and we'll maintained. It's only $29 for 18 on the weekend. Glancing at the score card you may think it's an easy course since it plays very short. However, there is a lot of strategy and tough club selections involved since some holes you are basically hitting up a mountain then back down on the next. Also there is trouble in a lot of places.
Beautiful. Elevated greens and tee boxes. Great condition. Can't speak to the sand traps, as I wasn't in them. They didn't look inviting, though.
Beautiful fun and quirky course. Interesting layout and great for players with a slice. In great condition and pace of play was fine.
Challenging holes are carved out of the hillside along the river at this course to provide something for everyone. First and foremost there is more vertical change at this course than many I have played in the past. Some pin locations are a hundred feet above the tee box while others are the same downhill. This makes it almost a must to rent a cart if you are playing 18, unless you are in peak physical condition.
The clubhouse is big and clean with friendly staff members to help out with your needs. The range is quite short and narrow, only 200 yards max by about 20 yards wide which makes it hard to warm up for the long shots you will need to be successfull right off the first tee. The carts are older and gas powered which made it tricky to get up some if the steep hills and there is some slow play if you are behind the wrong group.
Insider tip: make sure to study the course before you go if you haven't played here. There are hidden creeks and obstacles that ruin great shots down the middle. Better yet, play a practice round so you'll be ready before taking it on!
Have you ever tried to golf from atop a gymnastic balance beam? Well, on this golf course there little room for mistakes. It takes a pretty exacting strategy & good form to stay on your own fairway and to look good when playing here. Definitely a course which is a good challenge.
The course is a real challenge with several unique holes and a good deal of 'vertical' I guess you would call it (almost to the point of being silly on hole 2). But I'll be back to give it another shot because I get bored with the flat courses. Although most are longer ago, some other reviewers mentioned staff rudeness. I wouldn't go so far as rude but perhaps a slight bit uppity, or could just be friendlier. So perhaps it is improving.
Beautiful day, great golf course and the people were awesome!
Great place to golf with well kept greens at an affordable price! A lot of elevation change on quite a few holes
Best golf course in the PNW in my opinion. Beautiful valley in the forest and the course has an awesome layout! Highly recommend.
A beautiful setting and lots of variation make this an amazing day of golf. Highly recommend if you like variety and elevation change. One of my personal favorites around Portland.
Gimmicky, greens rolled nice. Attention to detail is second to none. A lot of fun elevation drops, walking here would not be fun.
our tee time was at 9:56 on saturday and we were with in one or two tee times not bad at all, Play started a little slow but the Marsal was all over it and got things moving. Course was in pretty good shape considering all the heat we have been having, beverage cart was making the rounds promptly, over all it was a great experience.
Had a great lunch special cheese burger chips and a soft drink for $5.50 great bargin on the turn, quick and easy.
I would and have recomended this course to friends, I drove all the way from Gresham and it was well worth it.
We live on a private golf course in Rancho Mirage, CA so we are used to unhurried, courteous golf and great playing conditions. We experienced all that and more yesterday when we played Wildwood for the first time yesterday!
We had a 10:36 tee time, we were greeted by a couple of friendly 20-somethings and signed in as a foursome. We teed off on time and were immediately impressed with the beautiful condition of the course and the surroundings". The greens were immaculate, smooth and fast. We completed the front nine in a little under two hours. The entire round in under four hours! On the fourth hole we let a twosome play through and we were never pressed by any golfers the rest of the round! In fact, on the back nine, we had no one in front of us and no one within two holes behind! Perfect!
The pro-shop/club house/starter appears to be brand new and beautiful. It sits on a hill with views of the first and tenth tee boxes and fairways and the 9th green. The panorama is magnificent, with forested hills in the background. Around the course, the fairways and greens were consistently well maintained. Unusual for a public golf course.
The cart paths are not paved and can create some excitement when going downhill and I imagine can be pretty dicey when it rains. The golf carts are motorized rather than electric and do not have gps. But they are well maintained and clean.
We made another tee-time for tomorrow - I can hardly wait!
Nice course but a little crazy when it's busy...balls flying everywhere so keep your head up and pay attention to surrounding golfers!
The course gets 1 star the people there get one star and the staff for golf get one star. However the bar keep gets negitve two stars. Just not happy. Maybe he doesn't like his job. Felt like I was a putting him out to ask a question. So if you want a good golf experience and don't go to bar you will have a great time
Fun course usually in great shape... And the people there don't try to make the course more than it is. Unpretentious and approachable, why I like this place! Beer is pretty cheap too.
My granddaughter was married in Scappoose Oregon. She was looking for an outside venue to have her pictures taken. After passing Wildwood on her way to the church, she called and asked if she could have photos taken there. They were very friendly and agreed to let us all come for the photo session. We had an amazing photo shoot. It was a gogeous venue and the staff were very gracious and friendly. I want to thank everyone there for their hospitality.
Fantastic course in a great location. The clubhouse is really nice, with a great view, plus live music at 6pm on Friday and Saturday!
This is a great course. I love the variety. The fairway and greens are kept in great condition. I would recommend this course to anyone.
Played this course recently for the first time in 3 years. The renovated clubhouse is very nice, staff is friendly and the course is in great condition. Very interesting layout.
If you love elevated tee boxes and elevation changes like I do, this is the course for you. Only played here once, but i will be definitely be coming back.
We played here for the first time and will definitely come back. This course is well kept and in great shape. We enjoyed our round.
Beautiful course and amenities. The owners take pride in providing a beautiful setting to play in or host events. Close to Portland, definitely recommend!
Very clean and up kept. Driving range is not long but is still a great place to warm up and practice your approach shots.
This course is so much fun. You'll love using your driver here. My favorite in the area.
Great course for the money. Very well-manicured. The newly remodeled club house looks amazing. The staff is always friendly and helpful.
Good golf course for beginners or low handicappers. A lot of risk an reward shots. They maintain the course great. Staff our friendly
I have been playing at Wildwood since it opened and I have never had any problems with any Marshall's at all. They keep the course in excellent shape and are always friendly and courteous. My favorite course in the area!
Great day today.Considering all the rain lately, the course was pretty dry.We had an awesome round.
Great course. One of my local favorites. Unless you are an up and down golfer and in wicked good shape heed my advice - opt for the cart.
Great value. It's a rough walk, I always take a cart. Course was in great shape for march. New club house is fantastic.
Very fun! Short. Quirky. A lot of elevation change. Greens are in really good shape.
New club house is a big improvement this year. It's a fun place to place and can be walked easily. There are a few great holes
but most are just good.
Great challenging course. Staff is friendly and nobody rushed ya through even though we are not very good golfers. Lol
Almost tempted to leave a bad review to keep ppl away haha but seriously a beautiful course that's very scorable.
Beautiful greens on a challenging course with lots of elevation changes. The views of the mountains and the Columbia River in the back ground make a complete experience.
Really was in terrific shape under any circumstances, but after the weather we've had I was throughly impressed.
Keep up the good work!
Course is a challenge but enjoyed it. Friendly service in the bar and staff was pleasant. Course was in good condition. Recommend it
Beautiful clubhouse. Well kept greens. Middle of the north Portland forest. Lots of elevation change which made for a fun experience, with a cart of course.
A long and challenging course. The landscape and location are breathtaking. Although it's not in Portland proper it's only a short ride to St. Helens
Beautiful course. Good variety of holes, well maintained, and great value! The new clubhouse is really nice!
Nice, short 18 hole course, lots of elevation changes, friendly staff, teed off at 7am finished by 10 am
The Covid Response training and implementation was amazing! The course is super fun and the beers were extra cold.
Beautiful experience. Employee's attentive and knowledge about the course. Will definitely come back.
Go
Just played Wildwood for the first time, and was so impressed. Beautiful course, challenging but still enjoyable for intermediate golfers. I will be back.
Wildwood is a very well maintained golf course. Beautiful setting on the hillside. Great new club house! Its my go to golf course.
Tough course for garbage golfers like myself. Tee boxes were pretty rough on many holes. Hilly and narrow course.
Great Golf Course! Fun and easy to play with very friendly staff that make you feel welcome.
Very nice Muni course in a hilly setting. Fast greens. Not all that long, the elevation changes make up for that. Cart recommend
Just love the views this course gives you.
The up and down on this course was challenging and fun. My family and I loved everything about it!
Beautiful course, lots of elevation change, tough walking, get a push cart
Lots of hill but you'll enjoy the workout. Absolutely beautiful course, and well maintained.
If you're looking for a challenge come here, very hilly, fast and undulating Greens, and a pretty good slope rating. Gave me all I could handle.
Course was in great shape and the remodeled clubhouse is awesome. Staff was as always polite and helpful, even though very very busy.
