Reviews of Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club
4 star review due to price. Course was in decent condition, fairways were nice and greens were well kept. Definitely some standing water in areas. There was no Marshall and no pace of play. Also for $146 with cart, I expect a premium experience. Feels like they just take your money and whatever goes. Front 9 is way more challenging than back.
Great golf course. Found a great deal on GolfNow. Staff was very welcoming. Highly recommend this place. It was great to play a course where the LIV tour played recently. Greens were pure and fast! 5 stars
Going to preface this that I played today in early March.
Played the Ghost Creek course.
3 star review is basis value more than anything else. $80 to walk on a Monday morning is pretty steep. So expectations were pretty high.
Course layout was fun and really enjoyed it. However, it was extremely soggy and muddy.
Even in the fairway I had drives plug. Lost multiple balls due to this in the rough. Guessing due to the sogginess they haven’t been cutting the rough regularly which was some of the longest I’ve ever played at a public track. They had also recently done vertical aeration on the greens. Didn’t affect putts too much, but really would’ve appreciated an acknowledgment of that at the time of booking.
I’d admit that in peak season this place would be awesome and that maybe my expectations were a little too lofty given the time of year I played. But truly feel they should adjust their offseason pricing as $80 to walk was a bit overpriced given course conditions
How can you beat pumpkin ridge? The views are amazing, the course is challenging yet playable, the greens are in amazing shape and don’t be surprised to see some wildlife. You’ll get free practice facilities access unlike a lot of other courses.
Course was immaculate. The greens were perfect and the fairways were pure. The tee shots aren't overly difficult but the challenge comes with the approach shots and putting. We played later in the day for $50 a person, and I will go out and say that you wont find a better course in the area for that kind of price. Great experience at Pumpkin Ridge.
I can't rate it a 5 because the fact we were cart path only. Yes I know the reason and the reason made sense (protecting the course due to heat wave). Due to said heat we didn't want to walk as it is a tough course for that (hills).
Aside from that I will be back to give it another shake and hopefully we can utilize carts on the whole course.
Greens were amazing, fairways were amazing, bunkers were good but inconsistent.
Tons of wildlife. Gorgeous views. Excellent food/drink selection for the turn.
Cold wet and rainy! But...it was fantastic! What an awesome course! Beautiful, and challenging. Priscilla in the lunch area was amazing! Great day even though I am cold and wet.
Tough courses. Very scenic. Kept up nicely.
Best golf course I've ever been allowed to play. Beautiful. We played the private side. The staff was top notch.
Beautiful course, well maintained, great service. Greens are exceptional! Best tee boxes I've ever played on. Just an amazing course. I highly recommend playing here if you have not you need to come out and play here.
From the moment you pull in the staff is so friendly and accommodating. Great food and great service. The course is top notch and hands down the best course in Oregon!!
temporary tees....okay BLT. Beautiful!
We'll maintained challenging public course. Sister course to Witch Hollow where many tournaments are played.
Great place for events, friendly staff, and great food.
Great course and friendly staff. It's expensive, but you do get what you pay for. Winter conditions are very wet so I would avoid in the off-season as pricing doesn't reflect course conditions.
Awesome experience. One of the most beautiful courses I've ever played. A bit pricey but worth the money. I will definitely play here again.
Very nice golf course out in the countryside. You will have opportunities to see deer and other Wildlife as you play the course. Look for the upcoming WinCo Portland Open that is played in mid-august. All ticket proceeds for this event go to the Charities/non-profits that sell them.
Beautiful course. The private club house is very nice. Bathrooms could be better.
With all the rain we have had I give the Ghost course 4 out of 5, it was in good shape I do wish they would of told us before hand that they just plugged and sanded the greens when we had made the Tee time though. Oh well JB and I had a great day of golf!
Great place to golf but my score was scary!
The course is beautiful and it's in wonderful shape right now. I played today and shot a great round. The staff was friendly and efficient and I was even able to tee off 10 minutes early. One thing this vet would like to see is a flagpole flying old glory, but other than that, great course.
Beautiful golf course. Nice layout for professional tournaments and great views of all the holes.
Me and the wife don't play golf, but we love the restaurant their.
Easily the best course in the Portland area, but you get what you pay for of course.
Beautiful courses with incredible views and wonderful surprises. Wildlife that politely interrupts your round, sunsets to die for and fun challenging holes. Fabulous location!
Was here for the LIV tournament and was blown away with how beautiful the course was set up. I've played here before and give the greens keepers a lot of credit.
Amazing fast but true greens. Great shape. Kicked my but.
08/26/2021
So I played it again two days ago and it did not disappoint at all The greens were firm and fast and true and the rest of the course was very very nice.
I also have the best sausage breakfast sandwich I've ever had so I want to get my compliments to the chef.
Greens are rolling really great, this place has history in the soil, among the top courses near Portland.
Great golf course however, doesnt drain well at all. Layout was great as well as GC staff. Course itself was basically a mudhole. Very disappointed given the prestigious reputation and the price.
The course, Ghost Creek, was in excellent shape. Greens were fast, fairways well maintained. Rough was deep but fair. The course offers a nice variety of challenge and easier mix. The staff was polite, friendly, and professional. The only drawback was the pace of play....we followed an extremely slow foursome...took our 4 six hours to complete 18. Way to sloooowwww.
The course is good, greens better. They had just plugged and it was wet and muddy. A lot of considerable long carry uphill to reach fairways. Overall players longer then the listed yardage due to the uphill nature of many holes.
First thing allowed to practice at range w/o extra. Make sure search for special deal w/cart on weekends. Of course this golf place is crowded during peak season. Difficulty of courses are not as compared to other golf courses. However, since they have reputation as top notch, Tiger Wood! and annual LPGA, fair ways are shiningly groomed like untouched snow powder. Green area is not big but just adequate to challenge your putting skills. Without proper swing tee off, more likely OB your balls so bring plenty of little golf balls. Extra, accidentally got into private golf courses, in the event your parents or your spouse have good fortune, strongly recommend to become a respected subscriber for the membership to waste at one of the best golf fields in the nation(or in Oregon).
Nice course, very challenging due to extensive bunkers and some water. A few blind shots which ended up in rocky dry stream beds. Sand hazards were dirt, no sand. Carts did not have gps.
Good condition, Pleasant Day. Cart girl came around at least 4 times,. This is were Tiger won the US Amateur.
Beautiful and well maintained, challenging but fun course!
Beautiful course and good crowd. Enjoyed the golf pros.
Very good views and love the place in general but the food that I had wasn't my favorite it had to much spices on the waffle and kinda ruined my chicken... 😕 …
This was my first experience at Pumpkin Ridge. I had only heard good things from others, so came in with high expectations. My main issue was that the fairways/greens had been punched and sanded recently and there wasn't any notification. It is likely I wouldn't have played if I knew. The Pace of play was fine except for making the turn. 9 is a long par 4 with water...likely to take a while for your average foursome. 10 is a reachable par 5 and 11 is a short (but difficult par 3). So we made the turn and waited 15 minutes to hit our next tee shot (since everyone thinks they can get home in 2). After that little log jam, it got a little better. Overall, I would call this experience average. Likely better with normal turf conditions.
I'm an idiot and messed up on a 3rd party booking site. Thought my tee time was 6:40am but I'd actually book for PM. The guy at the pro shop was super nice and despite them being booked up in the morning and having an event in the afternoon, he let my group tee off. Their first official tee time was a few minutes after 7, so it didn't hold anyone up but it was very nice after I'd made a stupid mistake and could have made all my buddies wake up hella early on a Friday morning. The course is always fun and well maintained. I love golfing there in the fall as the scenery is spectacular with the changing of the leaves and all. Definitely one of the more expensive courses in the area, but if you love to golf, you have to go out and play at least once. Its wonderful and they really do make sure you're taken care of while you're there.
Beautiful course, well maintained. There was beverage service, but no marshal to move slow players along. Paid $55 for my round of 18 and another $16 for a cart. Seems reasonable for the area. Challenging and fun. Finished in 4 hours. A good day.
We attended a wedding at Pumpkin Ridge and loved it! I didn't play golf here but from a venue standpoint this place is amazing. The chef prepared mouthwatering meals, the staff was very helpful and attentive, and the scenery was wonderful. I'm sure all of this comes at a premium but if you're looking for a classy venue Pumpkin Ridge should be high on your list.
Fall/ winter golfing always has its challenges, went there for a tournament which started with a frost delay. Cart path only for carts. Club house was clean and quick with the responses to course conditions. Staff worked diligently to get us going with our carts and range set up.
Course played soft but it was it was in great condition. They did a good job of getting most of the leaves off the fairways and some of the rough.
Best Golf Club in the PNW fairway speeds are amazing. The Tees are beautiful and the view is spectacular. The wildlife is spectacular, Deer, Elk Hawks, Bobcat, Muskrat, Beaver, snakes, American Bald Eagles, Coyotes and much more. It's not only a great place to play golf but a fantastic place to view and photograph Wildlife, when you hit the course bring you DSLR and Super Telephoto lenses and get a once in a lifetime photo opertunity.
The food in the Club House is Good, friendly staff.
Greens were fast and true. Rough around the greens is too deep. Very soft in spots in the fairway. Dont be scared of a little brown grass. Balls shouldn't plug in the middle of the fairway in August.
Played the Ghost Course. Amazing public golf course! In phenomenal shape. The greens were some of the quickest and purest i have ever played. Would love to play again. Recommend walking, if able.
Played two weekends in a row. Disappointed that the greens weren't in that great of condition for late June. I love fast firm greens, but these seemed to be sanded recently. That led to fast, firm, non responsive greens. Not my ideal condition for $$$ courses.
Otherwise it's a fantastic course that offers numerous challenges. It should be on everyone's bucket list.
Great golf course a little pricey compared with other courses. It was in great condition today. The electric cart are very comfortable. The carts could use GPS though. Most courses for similar fees have GPS in the carts.
This place is amazing from the views to the staff. I cam as a volunteer for an event so I do not know how it is to golf here, although everyone seemed to enjoy it. The locker rooms are very clean and large. The club houses were nice inside. I will be back to try the course and not just the venue.
A perfect golf day. Weather great, first 80 degree day of the year, the course in great shape, and greens well groomed. Pin placement, tough, but challenging. Everybody I came in contact with went out of their way to be helpful and pleasant. Keep up the good work, I'll be out regularly with my pass.
Beautiful golf course! I was not expecting what I found -- when I looked on the map I figured it would be pretty plain and flat. Not so! Went to a corporate event there and had a great time. The staff was excellent and the course was very well kept.
Wet...very wet! But an outstanding course and in great shape. Was my 3rd time back and will be there again in October. Cart path only was not a problem. I'd rather have cart path only than to look at a course with tire tracks all over it because common sense did not prevail.
Great place to golf. The course is beautiful and challenging. Probably the best course in a 50 mile radius. Play a round here and you will see why.
Yesterday was my second time playing Pumpkin Ridge Ghost Creek. For a second time I was completely floored by the overall beauty and impeccable maintenance of the course. I still feel that this is the best course in the Portland metro area. The practice facilities are great, The course is immaculate without a blade of grass out of place, the greens are always true with very little to no ball bobble and the course in general is a very nice challenge. You cannot experience NW golf at its finest unless you have played Pumpkin Ridge. I look forward to having another round here.
Great track. Very nice practice facilities. Overall one of the best course experiences I've had in the PNW.
I've been playing Ghost Creek since it opened, though it has been since 2013 that I last played it. It is on my top 5 courses anywhere, yet my recent round left me with two lasting impressions: first, the greens are not getting the TLC they once did. We played late in the day and the greens were in bad need of moisture, as hundreds of footprint indentures were not bouncing back, making for lumpy, poor rolling greens. Secondly, the majority of the bunkers need sand added. Unfortunately I was in more of them than I would have preferred, and only the right pin-high bunker on 16 had enough sand to allow for the expected result. The rest are hard packed less than an inch from the top.
It appears less and less money is going into the course than ever before. If this is true, I'm sure others are noticing. If not, then maybe it's just me. Thanks.
Ghost Creek at Pumpkin Ridge is a fabulous golf course with a great staff. The golf course is nearly always in excellent to outstanding shape, and the pro shop staff is very accommodating and helpful. I have been a Ghost Card holder for 20+ years and recommend this course without qualification. I am proud to call it my home course.. It provides a great "Member-for-a-Day" experience, and also does very well in providing a great tournament experience. I served as the chair for a golf tournament for 144 golfers, and the staff performed very well in every area. The course is a must for out-of-state visitors and is among the top courses in the state along with the Bandon Dunes properties and some of the Central Oregon resort course. The small café also provides great service and a surprisingly wide selection of great food. Ghost Creek at Pumpkin Ridge deserves to be on the regular play list for every Portland-area golfer.
Beautiful course, in great shape but I would never buy anything in the pro shop. A complete rip off for anything in the pro shop. I found a pair of Oakley golf shorts that I really liked. The problem was the price...$75.00. I found the exact same pair at Dick's Sporting Goods for $42.00! That even beat the Pumpkin Ridge Member Price of $48.75. Still, a very nice course and I'd play it again.
Good food, tasty margaritas and nice waitstaff! Cuervo margarita, mummy! And yes, it was that big!
Great golfing. ... fairways were beautiful. But driving range was irons only off the mats ... but for drivers or clubs with tees, it was only in front of the mats on uneven turf, making it uncomfortable in front of the players on the mats. But overall a good experience.
For the price of green fees and cart for $111 it was not worth it! Many of the tee boxes looked liked a platoon of tanks had marched over them; the greens were in good shape and putted consistently. The rough was unevenly prepared (and I saw a lot of it).
A really excellent challenging course. The greens are savagely tough fur to speed and the breaks. I want go back & play again.
The Ghost Creek course at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club is one of the top-rated and finest championship layouts in Oregon. This excellent tree-lined parkland and links-style course contains a wealth of wonderfully crafted, memorable and challenging holes. Definitely a course that will challenge your all-round game, and well worth going out of your way to play.
Volunteering for the liv golf event & the course is a beautiful picture
First time playing the course (Ghost Creek). Very much enjoyed the back nine, although I frankly thought the front nine wasn't super interesting (other than a few holes (6, 7 and 9). The greens weren't in great shape even though the weather had been good for almost a week prior. They were very bumpy and extremely slow, especially for a course rated as highly as this one is. I will most likely play here again but I won't necessarily go out of my way to do so.
Played first thing yesterday morning. Despite a small mixup about the availability of the range before our 6:30am tee time, the experience was great. The girl who checked us in, I believe her name is Dylan, was very helpful and pleasant despite having to start dealing with customers before 6am. I'm looking forward to playing again soon.
I played a twilight round on Thursday July 3rd. and found the course to be in all-around excellent shape. If you decide to play Ghost Creek, bring your driver... there are several holes that have long, forced caries from the tee. If your not a bomber, play it forward! ;o) Have fun... I did!
Note: The photos are from a round played in May.
A very beautiful and serene place!
We went there for July 4th fireworks!
Sitting on the vast open green lawn! So nice!
Want to impress clients or friends who golf? Take them out to Pumpkin Ridge for a round. The site features two courses Witch Hallow (private membership) and Ghost Creek (public). Touted as one of the best places to golf in Portland, the rates aren't too bad.
February 23, Overcast conditions, Played Ghost, only half of the greens were mowed so varying speeds for that day. A course with this reputation should not be in this situation. I can understand why the fairways are not mowed, but the greens?? Also, it would be nice if there was some drinking water available on the course somewhere?? Only place would be the snack bar in the clubhouse. Again, this is not a good thing for a course of this reputation. both drinking fountains on the course are shut off.
Played 9/30/15. Fun course, but the conditions were subpar. I get that courses need aeration, sand, etc., but it was VERY dry, grass missing, and in general lacking the general maintenance you'd expect in a course like this. This was my first (and likely only) time playing Ghost Creek, so maybe my expectations were higher than they should've been. That said, I kind of wish I would've saved myself $20-30 and played a course closer to home and in much better shape (e.g. Langdon Farms).
Pumpkin Ridge Ghost Creek is the best public course in the Portland area. The rough is the most challenging, the greens are interesting and well kept, good variety of holes. Always fun to play, may not always score well but usually you are rewarded for good shots and penalized for bad ones. That is what golf is all about.
Clean, courteous, n fun golf course. Especially on the 4th of July. Everything was Great n everybody did an amazing job!
Course is playing well. Most of the changes made seem to be an improvement.
The one thing I would like to see is a better prism setup on the flag sticks. I have tried all types of scopes and very few ever lock on.
See you in a week!
TG
Perfect conditions right now, Greens are super fast.
One of my favorite public golf courses in town. Greens are always in great shape. If you get the chance to play the private side, I highly recommend it
Been playing here for two decades. The course has never been in better shape than than it was in '17. Worth your drive across town
The staff was absolutely outstanding in every single aspect!! Definitely will go back! Course was in A-1 condition. Best golf in the PDX area. Highly recommend!
One of thr nicest courses I've ever played. One of the more difficult as well. If you can get in here, do it!
Normally would have been a 5 star but fairways aerated and greens microneedled and sanded. Even with that still an excellent tract.
One of my favorite places to take a friend that loves golf... to impress them. Amazing course, incredible staff and very little of the stuffiness that usually goes along with this level.
Nothing memorable about the location or atmosphere. Fairway and greens were in great shape. But to be expected at a golf course in The summer.
A Little over-hyped for a course to travel too.
Tha course was in excellent condition! Has long, well laid out fairways with challenging greens.
It was a nice course but tough for the price I don't think it was really worth it no signs or yardage or where the next hole is or anything like that
The course is in amazing shape and ready for the LIV Portland invitational.
Very clean and consistent. Greens are fast and smooth. Practice facility is well set up. Restaurant is great. Awesome experience. Thank you!
Great course, but pro shop/marshalls need to be better controlling pace of play and people jumping in on 10. Actually having a starter where 1 and 10 meet would help.
Expensive, but the service was great, and the course was very well taken care of. Great views, and lots of trees to provide shade.
Beautiful course. The LIV event was spectacular!
Court was very nice to play!
Beautiful course, and history of champions who have played there A1 service even let me barrow a putter for free, and cart service every few holes
This course will humble you. It is in fantastic condition. Everyone is very friendly. I can see why they have a tour tournament on the property. I will be back.
I really want to like this place and do for the most part. I just can't justify the price. They would have so much more place if the price was more in line with other local but solid courses. I think it prices based on the name and reputation, but that is not enough to justify it.
This was one of the most professional places that I have ever was assigned to work. The people who work there are very courteous and always giving respect. I look forward to being assigned there again next year.
A very challenging course and one of the absolute best around.
Cha Ching.......bring your ATM card and be ready to pay through the nose!
However it is an outstanding opportunity to golf a PGA course if that's your thing!
Best greens I've ever played. Had just plugged the fairways so they weren't to their standard but was still a fantastic experience.
Went there for a banquet and had a lovely time. The facilities were impressive for a first time guest. I would have liked to see it in the daylight.
Special golf event wine and beer garden.
Great challenging course. very good condition with super fast greens. bring your A game.
Very nice and remodeling the property 👌 👍 …
Didn't see one Pumpkin. Still cool tho
Been here twice for company golf tournaments. Had a blast. The staff all have the right attitude for hosting the event.
Played a charity tournament here. Staff were all top notch and very helpful. Great course!
Very nice place to shop, have breakfast, or lunch. Beautiful view of the golf course and all the people are very welcoming.
roughs were a nightmare but with all the rain they haven't been able to mow. greens are in great shape.
One of the premier places on the west side of town to play a round of golf. Great course, service and amenities.
Great place for a golf tournament!
Amazing facility run by great people I love coming to Pumkin Ridge from Tacoma it's worth the drive
The course is well taken care of, beautiful views, a tad pricey but expected with the quality of course
Perfect day for golf. Great course in really nice condition.
An outstanding golf experience. Maintained to perfection.
Great course and the greens are always flawless.
Well maintained, really good condition for this time of year. Best greens around the metro area.
What a great way to end an Oregon golf vacation that included Bandon Dunes and Pumpkin Ridge..........tired and very happy.
An exquisite golf course with a better-than-average green and more than accommodating staff
Awesome!! Beautiful track. Well kept and amazing people.
Beautiful club and service
I've played most of the courses west of Portland and this is still my favorite, but I play it sparingly because of the price.
Best round I ever had on the back nine of Pumpkin Ridge.
Beautiful high-end golf course that is beyond my weekend hacker abilities.
Overpriced for muddy golf. Pro-shop was closed before 5.
It's not what it once was ... let's put it that way
2nd time I've played this course. Avoid the rough. Pretty straight forward.
Beautiful Course and awesome Services of Crews. So nice!!!
Great course for the summer won't play it the winter
Great course. Tough...but well taken care of...great staff
solid golf course. very easy to access from the big cities too.
Amazing experience and awesome crew.
The course was in wonderful shape today...very enjoyable!
Great course! Fast greens.
One of the best golf courses in Oregon the food is a must have
Greens are pretty bumpy currently and lots of leaves to lose your ball
Good
A beautiful layout and when the weather is great, a true treat!
Good time, good food. Didn't golf there.
Expensive but expected that. Food not bad. Servers helpful
Very nice, but a bit spendy if you ask me.
Beautiful grounds, friendly staff and 5-star hospitality.
Best public golf on the west coast!
