Reviews of Pier Park Disc Golf Course
This course is my mainstay. It’s shady on hotter days. Never too crowded if you go in the AM.
This is a pretty woody course. You will hit trees and the sound will become a searing reminder of failure and what almost was…
Best park ever. Pup loves it too.
Excellent course with a variety of shots. Be prepared to wait at several holes if the groups in front of behind aren’t keeping pace with yours. Variety of layouts based on the time of year, so check UDisc before you go. Parking can be a tight squeeze, but usually not a problem. Locals walk the course and bring dogs so be sure to use caution before throwing.
I love this course, its always shady, in more ways than one! So lock your doors, hide ya valuables, but man it's worth it. Its easy to navigate, just follow the signs usually. Technical course, really want a disc for every shot, but really seems to favor an accurate right handed forehand. If your back hand only off the tee, like me, grab something under stable.
Pier Park was a wonderful disc golf course. The foliage was splendid on lovely fall afternoon we visited on. The course layout was intelligent and appropriately challenging. Our group also appreciated how the park would make an excellent cross country course - does that ever take place? Let me know, xoxo Gossip Girl
Absolutely great place to go golfing! Went twice, the first time (on a Sunday) was very crowded and every hole had people on it. The second time (on a Monday) there was only 3-4 other groups on the course.
This course is well maintained and features 18 holes between 200 and 500 feet in length. There are different configurations of the course for summer and winter months, and many of the holes have alternate basket locations during league play.
Navigating the course can be challenging your first time through, as some tees are not directly visible from the preceding basket. Most of the baskets have one well maintained path leading away from them to the next tee. All of the holes have a signpost at the tee with a map of where the basket is located, how far away the ballet is in feet, and which number hole you're playing.
The course is maintained privately. There is a donation box near the first tee to help with the course maintenance costs. Please consider donating.
Best par 3 course in Oregon. May have to check for basket location for each hole before you throw, but definitely worth it. Fun challenging course.
Great course. Super challenging holes. A little muddy in the winter, but worth it.
Absolutely amazing. Mostly 300-400 footers with a couple of longer holes. Beautiful forest with restrooms, several large fields for practicing, tons of shade, and lots of nice people.
Wow! Took hubs to play on this incredible course while we were traveling. He really enjoyed the round — the park is beautiful, the holes are well marked, and it was a fun but still challenging course. He has a blast before we return to playing in the high desert.
Would absolutely play again should we ever pass through.
What an amazing location. The scale of the Pacific Northwest is on display at this park. I went to play disc golf and found myself in awe at the grandeur of the trees. I'm usually a very good judge of distance as I play DG frequently and the enormity of the space under the green canopy repeatedly skewed my distance judgement. Plenty of elevation changes for a decent walk through the woods; not too strenuous for those in decent shape; not exactly a leisurely stroll in the park - wear hiking boots or at the very least jogging shoes.
This is a beautiful course. My husband and I played it twice while staying in Portland. The treed area is quite idyllic to walk through. The holes are somewhat difficult because it does have so many trees throughout but we still really enjoyed ourselves. We got a little confused because they move the holes throughout the seasons and had the wrong signs up for the current hole set up, but with the help of UDisc and local players we got it figured it out eventually
Awesome spot to hangout with friends and family for biking, basketball, baseball, or picnicking. Public restroom is clean and family friendly.
Mostly use the Frisbee Golf course, which is my personal top 2 locally! Full 18 hole course with benches along the way.
Great course through some really large trees with quite a bit of elevation change on some holes
Such a beautiful park. Love the disc course and the trails. I went on a foggy morning and enjoyed it very much. I will definitely go back.
Exactly what I was looking for coming from Southern California! Beautiful technical course with moderate elevations in the Forrest!
Gets busy but its the best park in that area, very fun and large wooded and hilly course. Very unique terrain. If it busy the park goers are generally nice and have been playing enough to have good edict. 💯🤙🥏
I am on the fence with some park goers that are not confident they can throw past 250 that are on the pad driving to u when ur doing an up shot at 250 to the basket playing up on shorter holes. Idk, it gets busy. but ur really not going to try to hit me at 250 when I am right at the basket!? So anyone thats a pier veteran let me know if that is regular and ok or not 😋
In short guy driving towards u when ur 250 feet away, because its busy or they r confident they will not hit u, maybe newbies or something🙋🥏💥🙆💫💁📢👋
One of the most beautiful and challenging par 3 courses in the NW. Lot's of shot variation and elevation change throughout. Some of the lines are extremely tough for a par 3, but it's a fair course at the same time. There is a reason why it's always packed, be prepared to play at a slower pace during the weekend or weekday evenings.
Pier park has the nicest course I've ever played. The surrounding forest is excellent!
Awesome course. Very challenging. Pretty well maintained. nice variation of open fairways and wooded shots. some elevation changes as well, hole 6, has a big hill you throw down into the edge of the forest which is really fun. Though it's claimed many discs as you get the sense you want to go for the ace then you over shoot the hole and end up some where in the forest or another fairway. Only complaint is hole 1 you throw in between 2 baseball/soccer fields. If they have a game going on either field, the players will be right in the fairway. That's only happened once for me but I haven't been there a ton.
My favorite course in the northwest! Beautiful old growth forest in an expansive park. Challenging course with lots of elevation changes and blind shots.
Great course, well maintained, good tee signs, very difficult. Can be very crowded on weekends but just a unique delight to play at.
I had some fun! I went there with to my buddies. My second time ever playing disc golf. I did not do the best but like I said second time ever playing. Really nice atmosphere while playing the game.
Great park!
18 holes in a heavily forested park. The course is often quite busy with a line forming at the first hole. The pacing of the course is decent with bottlenecks at a few holes with long technical approaches.
The separation between the course and pedestrian walkways are good, so you rarely have to worry about errant discs.
No water, just a lot of trees.
The course signage is OK, but sometimes can leave you wandering to the wrong hole.
Quality disc golf course in incredible old growth setting: the site of Grimm! They built a new bathroom recently too. This is a phenomenal park. And the disc golf course has really contributed to its value to the public. You've got to get out here and play. And please leave it nicer than you found it.
Best and most attractive course in Portland in my opinion. Could do with some brooms on tees and permanent lights on the chains for night golf but otherwise it’s elite.
Longer holes, trees, hills, trees.. good times. Not great for new players - holes hard to find as they move them in winter months. Guides or signs throughout would be nice for direction.
I'm NOT one to venture out of my immediate area to do activities and such. But I'm sure glad I decided to take a plunge with pier park! This is by far the coolest course I have played in my 11 years with the sport. The entire atmosphere of the course is really cool especially since your in the city. The holes are a decent distance away and offer a challenge compared to my everyday local course. This course is wooded but it's not too difficult to make it through the trees! And the forest floor is mostly open so it's not difficult to find your disc if you have a wild throw! If your looking for a cool new disc golf spot I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you give pier park a shot!!
Great course, mild to moderately hilly, 250 to 500 ft holes, some open, some tight, giant fir trees on holes 3 through 18. Amazing park and great value at no cost. Prepare for a bit of a zoo on the weekends.
Disc golf course is beautiful and well maintained. It could be clearer where the next tee location is after some baskets, UDisc layouts need better updating. Neither current layout option was correct for playing the course yesterday. Regardless, Pier Park disc golf course is one of my favorites to play in the PNW.
Definitely one of the best if not the best disc golf course in the area. Very well shaded and the course is kept very clean and groomed. Have been here a few times and will keep coming back to play more.
Great course absolutely gorgeous! Had the honor or being the first to play this year after they had to pull all the baskets due to covid vandalizing... It was also my first time playing in Oregon. Hats off to the disc golf community for all their hard work on this course!
Well marked and challenging course, watch out for the seasonal changes! They just switched it to the summer layout.
The disc golf course was very nice. Highly reccomend
One of the more difficult disc golf courses is at Pier Park. I would give this course a five star rating but I feel it loses a ⭐ because the course can vary based on the season. The course is shorter in the cold months so they reroute the course but unless you have been there during both climates ☀❄ you will have trouble navigating where to go to keep the holes in order. The difficulty with this course comes from it's dense amount of 🌲🌳🌲you have to avoid. Wild uncontrolled throws will be your downfall here as you have to skillfully weave through a smorgasbord of trees on a majority of the holes. The benefit of such a large canopy makes this a phenomenal course in the summer time keeping all but a few holes in the glorious shade. Don't be discouraged though, this course is still a lot of fun since there are a couple of awesome down hill throws that can make for epic looking shots. Pier Park has the benefit of being set so deep in the trees, it gives one a sense of getting back to nature while still being in the middle of a neighborhood. In addition to being a beautiful course this is a family friendly course. A playground and water fountain are right beside the course too. If you want, walk off half way through to take the kids for a cool off or to cure their boredom from your super awesome sport they don't find fun. Bring a picnic and make a whole day of it, there is fun for everyone here.
Excellent disc golf course here. Beautiful towering trees. Abandoned buildings covered in moss. Definitely has that PNW charm. Great place to take a walk or bring the kids to play.
I’ve been to over two dozen disc golf courses, and this is one of the very nicest; definitely top 3.
Not only is the park large and tree-covered, the holes are well marked. I think we only had trouble finding one hole, but there were a few other players there who pointed us in the right direction.
There’s lots of tree cover but the ground is relatively clear, so don’t worry about losing your disc.
Awesome park! 18 holes, very directive, beautiful in the shade through wide open big trees lots of shade. Decent bathroom also porter pots.
Awesome course! Not too challenging but a very beautiful park! All par 3 the way it should be!!!
Fun disc golf course. Very wooded and full of challenges.
Incredibly fun and challenging par 3 disc golf course. Can get very busy on nice afternoons and weekends. Great for all skill levels (even beginners and families). Beautiful park with tall douglas fir trees and lots of other park amenities. A signature course for the portland metro area.
This is the #2 disc golf course I have ever played, second only to the Big Sky, MT course. The majority of the holes here were so beautiful, with 200-300 ft Douglas firs everywhere. Holes are somewhat easy/non-technical (in my opinion, contrary to many reviews) with the main challenge being length. Was surprisingly active for 2pm on a weekday! Had a fun "instructional" break with a group of super friendly locals.
Probably one of my favorite courses in the Portland area. Very challenging but it doesn't really matter. Because this park is just beautiful to walk through. Always a good time to play here.
Always a great round of disc golf here
Excellent course, great variety of holes, challenging but accessible! Only tip is to add hole numbers to the baskets -- it's easy to get turned around the first few times out, so I definitely recommend the course map and tour! 😊 …
The jewel of Portland disc golf! This course is a nationally rated course for good reason and easily the best in the area. It has great lines, vibrant park setting, huge trees, great elevation change, and a good balance of technical vs length throughout the course. The baskets are placed strategically among the old growth, park layout. The tee pads are well made concrete, the baskets are newer, and the paths from tee to tee are easy to navigate. It has 2 lay outs, from winter to summer, that only affect a few placements but add a little variety.
Street parking only. Limited water. Restrooms are sketchy, as is the neighborhood, at night.
Loved the open layout and amount of shade. Moderate elevation changes and trees on the course, so I might refer to it as a intermediate course at least, 3ither way it's family friendly and very spacious
This is a huge park. You have a skate park, 3 ballfields, lots of trees and woods, rundown tennis court with no net. There is a full basketball court and a playground. It also has a bridge that goes over the train tracks so you can get to chimney park if you so desire too. Oh and there is also a park n ride connected to the park. Sometimes the bathrooms are open and sometimes not which doesn't make sense when you have such a big park and you also have a park n ride connected. This park could be a lot better. It has the quality and lots of things to do just needs the attention.
Pier is easily my favorite disc golf course in the NW. I am a very occasional player (2-6x year) so I love the forgiving nature of the front 9. The setting is amazing. Tall trees from hole 3 on keep it shady and cool even in the hot hot of summer. Ample parking, but keep your valuables safe as there have been a few break ins here. They are rare so dont stress, just be smart with your valuables. Very hard to lose a disc here. The only drawback is that it can get really annoyingly busy and some of the groups can be total tools. It's a free course in a city. Just like your car, dont stress, be smart
One of the best parks in my opion in the metro area. Always well kept and clean 90% shaded. Very technical course make sure to bring your a game and watch your disc on the landing easy to lose if not paying attention.
Oh Pier Park! I love the disc golf course here, I will always be proud to call Pier my home course! If you haven't been go, if you haven't played do it! 10/10 would recommend.
A lot of people love this place. It’s large, it’s in town, and it provides a challenge. I’m not in love with it. It’s great park and everything is setup real well but it does get real muddy during wet seasons (almost every season in Oregon), and theres a couple holes that are on hills with just dirt (is no grass/turf or anything. Not a huge deal) and when your disc rolls back to hole three and your on hole 5 and than you slip and fall in the mud at the bottom of the hill.... the next 13 holes are gonna go real slow and cold.
Was introduced to this park last weekend from friends who live close to it. We got caught up at one of the many sets of picnic tables that are available while maintaining proper social distancing. Lots of different activities available at the park. A real gem indeed.
My absolute favorite inner city disc golf course. This park has a lot going for it. A pool, lots of picnic tables, swing sets, and more.
One of the best courses in the Portland area. Long shots, elevation, trees, little bit of everything. Long course and can get very busy so it can take a while.
Great disk golf course for this close to the city. I deducted 1 star due to the lack of garbage cans, and the amount of abandoned trash. PLEASE take all your trash with you or dump in the few garbage cans they do have.
Disk golf course is a great place other then the reason posted above. Mixed in throw types and elevation as well as underhand and overhand.
Hands down, best public disc golf course. I have been going here since 2006 and it has not lost its luster one bit. City park improvements over the years have polished this amazing gem.
Big place with awesome disc golf course.. got baseball fields and a good sized skate park and has public pool for summer
Pier Park is one of the most beautiful disc golf courses I've ever played. It's a must-play course, but it is not for amateurs. Newer players should head over to Lunchtime in SW or play the easy course at Horning's Hideout up north.
Winter Layout:
Hole 1: First hole is deceptively long. Right of the trees gives an open view for a chance at par. Don't go straight and underneath.
Hole 2: Lefties and flickers love this hole. Everyone else, throw long and straight for an open view of the basket.
Hole 3: Into the woods we go! Keep your drive along the walking path to the left.
Hole 4: Birdie opportunity if you keep it level.
Hole 5: Basket is more or less straight ahead. Drive hard and straight and you'll be close. Don't pull it though or you'll be in the rough.
Hole 6: Ace it! Either that or play nice and easy. Mid range disc works fine here. Keep left or go straight and hope for the best.
Hole 7: Monster downhill shot. Don't overpower your drive because the aerodynamics of the hill lift the disc almost all the way to the basket.
Hole 8: Straight shot. Make it past the fallen log to have a "good" drive.
Hole 9: Opposite direction of the last hole. Basket is hidden to the left. Throw straight and worry about the basket later.
Hole 10: Basic straight shot.
Hole 11: Across the pedestrian path and up a little to the right is the next tee pad. Birdie opportunity.
Hole 12: Next pad is to the left. This line is another good one for lefties. Plays a little long so give it some muscle.
Hole 13: Tee pad is down the slope toward the tennis courts. Keep your throw tight around the chain link fence. In the courts is OB.
Hole 14: Turn right after the last hole. Similar to hole 11 but longer. Aim for the top of the ridge dead ahead. Next pad to the left, follow the edge of the park.
Hole 15: These trees show no mercy. No mandos here so play how you think you should.
Hole 16: Another spectacular tree-lined alley. Best of luck, my homie!
Hole 17: Ignore the little trees and launch it. Birdie opportunity.
Hole 18: Epic drop back into the forest valley floor. Mid range works fine here but a properly thrown driver can find chains.
A great public disc golf course that's easy enough for beginners while also challenging enough for seasoned pros. All in a beautiful Douglas Fir Grove that doubles as a large neighborhood park.
Where else can you find such an amazing disc golf course in a city park? Huge old firs with a perfect combo of distance and technical shots. A must play for anyone who likes the sport.
Fun disc gold course. Not too busy considering it was a Saturday afternoon. Great mix of shots. Come try this course!
A great course if you don't have time to get out of the city (or even if you do). Large enough to feel secluded and spacious enough not to feel crowded
Best course in Portland by far. 1st time played. Won't be the last. The TREES are amazing and the vibe is good!
I drove a few hours just to play this park and go back home and I'd definitely do it again, this course is pretty amazing.
Love this course. All holes are par 3, but you'll need to work for your pars! Good variety of shots needed - on any given round I find myself using both forehand and backhand, with straight, hyzer, anhyzer, and flex lines. Hole 4 is the star, especially in the Fall - a good RHBH flex shot will park you under the basket for a tap-in birdie, but it's a hard shot to execute perfectly.
Fun course plenty of variety, yet consistent trees.
Amazing Disc Golf. Great for the family and large groups alike. No worries about the rain because it's covered by beautiful red woods. Fantastic all around.
Love the disc golf and ability to do multiple sports and activities at the same park all in different age, gender, race, and interest groups. This park has what you want if you're a park go-er.
New to disc golf, but this seems like a nice course. Not so much foliage so finding errant discs is easy. Was confusing to figure out how to get to the next hole a number of times though.
Really fun course, mostly moderately wooded, 18 holes, very clear signage with course maps.
Great course with some interesting technical holes - lots of trees and some baskets placed on hills make for a fun round! Beautiful wooded area.
Nice course well groomed but not too many interesting shots. Mostly straight shots. Great course tho.
Most definitely one of the best disk off courses on all the West Coast of the United States. Held worlds here, a well manicured, challenging Course for intermediate to advanced players.
Love this course. Winter or summer layout. Both are awesome and challenging. Can get a bit crowded on a good weather day though.
One of the best courses in the Portland area. Lots of trees, elevation changes. Helps to go with a local your first time out but is generally well signed.
Great place to play frisbee golf. Decent amount of trees and hills. Only downfall is it being a good 30 minute drive from anything else.
Excellent 18 hole course - wooded, elevation changes, Mach X baskets and often crowded. Go early in the morning to beat the crowds! Also, in the winter they change up the layout.
Very challenging disc golf course. Best in Portland. May come across used needles or soiled underwear but other than that it's beautiful.
Great course, technical but has some bomb throws
Don't play around dusk, you lose your disk in the dark. I was able to find mine the next morning. The map is of summer. The winter course is bit different from the attached course map.
Good course little bit of tech little bit of open. Concrete pads on all 18 good chains and well played lots of people in the park.
Great park, super fun disc golf course but very crowded on nice days.
Choose an off time to play disc golf. The course itself is great, (8/10) but groups of 10 on a Saturday is a big bummer.
Really gorgeous park with huge trees and an amazing and challenging 18 hole disc golf course. Gets crowded on weekends
Absolutely gorgeous course and fun round.. we're only in town a few days, but will absolutely be back
Overall a clean park and well maintained. Played disc golf through the course littered with trees to punish. Guess it has a winter version for when it gets muddy
“Best disc golf course in the world”
-somebody I know
Lot of work done during the shutdown. Very crouded for a weekday morning w a lot of parents w kids enjoying the disc golf course.
This place rules! Free and beautiful! Please do your part and don't leave litter or add any more very ugly defacements.
Sweet course. Coming from the Midwest its good to find a cool park. Not sure what par each hole is. I just play par 3 on all??
Big open nice course tends to have marshy areas during the winter months.
Awesome 18 hole course very woody and challenging but an all around great course
First visit. Only played 9 holes. Park and course is beautiful and well kept! Will return!
Disc golf! I don't go here as much as I'd like. It's a pretty busy park. I love the course but the traffic can be a bit too much.
Favorite disc golf course in the metro area. On weekends or holidays, best to play early to avoid crowds and slowed play.
Great disc golf course. Lots of friendly locals
Great day, except for the tall timber being in our way.
Beautiful disc golf course, do not miss! It can get really busy especially on the weekends.
Good course, extremely well-planned for an urban park, pro quality, no water hazards, challenging and fun, easy to follow or cut out, multi-level participation, tremendously well-maintained
Love this course! Crazy how big trees mess up depth perception. Great flow and very technical!
Gorgeous park, 19 hole course. But the baskets aren't all easily located. They don't flow well.
This was an insane challenge! It took a my friends and I have +1-+5 handicaps and we came out of that beast of a course with +14-+17! Plenty of shade and a heck of a hike!
Great disc golf course, beautiful gentrified neighborhood. Cool trees.
Great place to play disc golf course maps aren't the best, but nice course it's got all the throws.
A great place to frisbee. A little busy, not for the impatient. The course was like a picture out of North Central California
One of the best courses I've been to, and such beautiful trees!
A truly amazing course! Beautiful tall trees! Great terrain change! Decent maintenance.
Huge trees and technical holes. This place is a bit out of the way to get to but totally worth it. Beware on weekends it will be busy!
Great disc golf course in the city, pretty slow to very slow...
Great park, beautiful people wish I could see her somemore.
Well loved Portland area disc course. Beautiful partially forested park area, for this nationally recognized course. Free.
Great courses (both summer and winter). Note the changes in the course with the rains.
Excellent challenging course . Play with someone who knows it first, challenging to follow unless you know . Lots of up and down and wooded holes
Good course, really nice wooded area in the middle of the city. Lots of people.
Long course of up and down hills. Baskets are sometimes moved. Overall, it's pretty good
Absolutely beautiful park to play disc golf at or just to walk through.
Super fun for disc golf or taking your dog to the dog park right next door
Great disc golf course. It seems fair to start but then get quite difficult to par.
Great course. Well groomed. Open fairways and large evergreens. Shady all day
Great course ... First time there ... lots of trees
I love the disc golf course. I like how it gives a little challenge.
Awesome park ,clean ,new bathroom
Great course for intermediate players. Often crowded these days.
Dizzle ..Tech...Adin..Played the wonderfulness of pier park
Probably Portland's best disc golf course. Unfortunately this makes it a bit crowded when the weather is fair.
Well designed and maintained course in a city "forest"... Nearly perfect!
Great place to take a very therapeutic stroll. A hidden gem in Portland that anyone and everyone can enjoy.
Awesome course feels like your in the wood s when your right in the city
One of my go to disc golf courses in Portland.
Easily one of the most beautiful parks I've seen yet
Great course, get there early though, sometimes packed on nice days.
One of my favorite courses when I'm in the area. Challenging course that really tests your skills.
Just played the 28 holes. Fun place to play righr outside Portland!
Incredible course. Has a little bit of everything. I loved it!
Beautiful park with online maps
Amazing course!
Popular urban course. Challenging yet disc loss is uncommon.
Great course, really busy on nice days.
Oh man, I live pier park for disc golfing. Just fantastic
Incredible disc golf course that is well maintained.
Great 18 hole course. Cool on hot days.
Great course, lots of trees so be careful.
Tough course but probably the best inner city course in Portland.
Pretty laid back course, tons of shade and a decent workout
One of my favorite courses to hit up when I visit Portland
A challenging course, good for challenging your abailitys and the people are friendly.
Awesome course. One of my favorites.
Great sk8 park, great disk course
Super clean, fun, and tons of vibes!
All that played disc golf at Pier Park enjoy their experience
This is the best disc golf course in Portland.
A dog grabbed my golf disc and ran off into it's bushes.
While wet this time of year the course is still awesome.
Tough for beginners, but amazing beauty right in the city.
It was a rainy day but still fun day for disc golf
Nice course. Not very long, but still a challenge.
A little difficult to find the holes at times, but good course
Needs directions in between holes. Other than that its great
Best course i have ever golfed
Nice park. Need better signs for next gole
Awesome place.
Great place big not too crowded
It's a really fun course to play on
Very big place, fine old trees.
Nice challenging course. Lots of trees.
Great course
.through the rolling forest
Can get really busy, but fun course in a forest
Great day to be alive
For some reason today everyone was playing disc golf in groups of 6
