Reviews of Colwood Golf Center
This par 3 course has a good layout with a mix of shorter and longer holes up to 200 yds. Conditions are scruffy, including some bad patches on the greens and areas of deep grass on the fairways. I took this as a feature and not a bug, and so I am giving 4 stars since the vibe is public course mellow and I had a good time.
9 hole, 1223 yard, Par 3 course. Great for walking. Greens have slope and even hidden from view on one hole adding to the fun. I think we got through the round in just over 1 hour. Enjoy
I had the pleasure of playing this golf course a few weeks ago.. And had a very pleasant time playing on this well maintained golf course! The staff was nice and helpful, the price was good! We enjoyed playing here. The are fun holes to get your attention, the fairways are green and greens were firm! Very good place to work on the short game cause you can get it close off the tee! The scenery was awesome, we had a visitor on one of the holes that was pretty cool going to T off and you get a baby Eagle sitting at your tee box..as the gallery! I had a great time here and I recommend it to anyone..Bring someone golfing! Tell em Tbone sent you! #getoutngolf
Great, friendly service. They have carts for a par 3 course! Greens are maybe too soft as the footprints stay there and really effect the putting Very Badly. Worst I have seen anywhere, but still a fun little par 3 course if you can get past the wobbly greens. 🥴⛳🏌️ …
This is a very nice golf course very well maintained looks very good love the scenery all the way around it the trees were luscious and out of the way the greens were fast but smooth the staff was very nice and helpful the people on the course were friendly the course is a very well game for a few long drives and a few nice chippens I would definitely do it again and when you show up tell em T-Bone sent you!
Quaint and cozy. Great before or after golf -- or any other time. Great food, classic diner style. A real neighborhood gem. Peaceful setting yet easy to reach.
Great space for a special event. The venue comfortably hosted our evening with about 80 guests. This is an older building that has a temperamental A/C however, the view from this venue is unmatched. Overall great food, service, atmosphere and experience.
One of the most beautiful ranges. Pretty popular, very clean. We love it!
Colwood can be a little rough around the edges, but it's a great value and a fun little executive course. Bonus, it's got a nice driving range set up right in front of the pro shop.
Kickball golf on the back 9. The course isn't the cleanest but provides something different. My bestie broke her wrist so nice to be on the course
Great driving range. Wish they had a place to hit off grass. Always friendly staff.
Beautiful course. Well kept and maintained. Fun to play.
5 min from home, great staff, and reasonable prices on buckets. What's not to love?
It is a great course to practice short game with having short or long tee offs!
Nice shortish course. They also have soccer golf. You can always pickup a couple of range ball on the first hole for the water hazard :)
The staff is most excellent - outgoing, friendly and knowledgeable. Colwood is primarily a practice center (now that Amazon has swooped up half of their property) and the diversity of practice stations - chipping, putting, driving deck, par 3 course, short game - all possible under lights on early sundown evenings make it a top notch slot.
Green fees are adequate.
Course is always in good shape
With manicured greens
This time, we had the course basically, to ourselves
Driving range is very nice
A+ golf outing
Pretty easy par 3. Dinner greens were soggy and there were many divots, but easy to play.
Fantastic driving range, with flags ranging from 50-270 yards. Love that they have the option for different tee heights available to swap in and out. Several stalls are guarded overhead, making it available rain or shine. Nice chipping green as well. They do have a practice area across the street that you can rent starting at $10.
The course is simple and straightforward. Greens are REALLY soft, so feel free to go after the pin since the ball won't skip on you. Tee boxes are worn down but typical for late summer.
Nice coarse. Enjoyed the day. Limited carts available though so bring your own if you have one.
We just had a tasty hamburger and the fries were great. P.S. Two people can split the order. This post was years ago. Currently the restaurant is closed due to staff shortage.
Nice light driving range, fun par 3 course. The staff is super friendly. Worth the visit.
I tried foot golf for the first time here and had so much fun!
Very polite staff, excellent driving range. Had one minor incident with a driver when the head broke off, but they replaced the club with no big fuss. Really appreciated the atmosphere.
The chip and put mecca. Friendly staff with laid back vibe.
Very comfortable public course. As bad golfers we had a great time and never felt like we didn't belong. Straightforward 9-hole par-3 course, with enough trees and water to be trouble without being miserable. Greens were in good shape. No sand traps. Looking forward to trying again soon.
Awesome golf courses, great friendly people, I never golf before, but I had a great experience that I want to learn how to play golf, so fun!
A great place to practice! There are 24 driving range bays, 12 of which are covered. Buckets are $5 for small, $9 for medium, and $12 for large.
It's a nice little small golf course it's good for practicing I'd go there again
Juliane Davis is one of the best event coordinators at Colwood Golf Center. I suggest you ask for her if you are seeking a great experience and professional touch.
Sweet, little party 3 course with fun greens. Had a blast this morning. We'll be back!!
I am just learning to golf so my experience is limited to the driving range. The covered areas make winter practice doable! My husband and I have been getting lessons from Brad and he is a great teacher. I would highly recommend him!
Beginners, casuals, and anyone else looking for easy fun - Colwood is the place for you. Wait times for the driving range are manageable, and their 9 hole, 3 par course is a great way to practice your mid-short game. For beginners looking to play their first 9 holes this is about as chill as it gets
Came for happy hour on a Friday night. Service was wonderful food was delicious. Walked around the newly renovated grounds and couldn't believe it. What a beautiful place for an event. The driving range is great and the golf course is in really good shape. It's nice to have this in Northeast since so many golf courses are looking like they will never be heard from again.
Really fun little par 3. Professional instruction is great. Jarred has been coaching my son and doing an amazing job. Good practice facility off mats only. Soccer course looks cool, but haven't tried it. The fries at the grill are amazing.
Love this course. Par 3, yet still fun. Bring all your clubs. Driver needed on at least one hole. Well maintained, friendly staff, great location. If you want to do 18, there are two tee boxes, so it feels like a different hole.
Great little par three course. Affordable, beautiful, lots of parking.
Nice event location. Enjoyed the Vanport Jazz festival.
Good public 9-hole 3 par course. Fairly easy for beginners, with a couple of challenging holes. All of the sand traps have been removed, but still a water hazard on the 2nd hole. Greens are large and fairly well maintained, though there are some bare and rough spots around the fringes on some holes. Easy to walk, and I never feel rushed by other groups.
This is a fun little par three that went through a major renovation and was finally completed earlier this year. It has a decent pro shop and a totally revamped driving range. Unfortunately it's mats only. The bar and food at the clubhouse is great. Especially for happy hour. Go out and play a couple balls and work on your short game
Great job with the course - large rolling greens make it quite challenging. The range is also nice and often times during he day they switch from mats to grass tees. Jared and his team have always been incredibly hospitable during my regular visits. Lastly I can't count the times I've left a club or golf accessory at this course and every time I've called it's been returned to the pro shop. Highly recommend.
Super convenient considering how many courses in the area don't have ranges, 5 dollars for a good sized small and great friendly staff 100% would recommend.
I enjoy golf and this is a good little 9 hole course. I appreciate the 1/2 off green fee after 7. They sometimes have families or other groups playing a kick ball type of game along the side of the greens and the etiquette is a bit precarious for my taste, as kids and adults stumble over the greens chasing after the kick ball. But all in all, I've never had to wait to play or hit a bucket of balls. It's a decent option for an affordable price.
Really great experience renting their clubhouse this weekend for my husband's 50th birthday party. Nearly 70 guests. So conveniently located for out of town attendees. Very fair pricing. Their food for catering is delish. Friendly and helpful staff. Guests loved having bar available. Ample parking for guests. Highly recommend this venue!
I had the most wonderful experience at Colwood Grill!!!
I will like to thank Colleen for all her assistance from signing the contract, setting of the room, helping with cake cutting! I was impressed in how everything was handled from beginning to end. Everyone love the setting and was very very impress with the food and the service.
Again, thank you very much Colwood Grill staff for making my event one of the best experience EVER!!! I will definitely will be booking again.
Sincerely,
Yolanda
Great course to work your short game, but they're not good about flow when you play 18. It's just a 9 hole course, but with 2 separate tee boxes, you can play it twice and it plays like 18. You will definitely get held up on "the turn" though because they don't regulate ths timing.
Love the new renovations to the course and practice area. The new putting green is great and the covered practice mats are awesome! Also the renovated practice hole for private instruction is coming along nicely as well. Keep up the great work! LHJGP really appreciates your efforts!
Great spot! Landed from a flight and killed some time with a quick 9 holes. Jared at the pro shop was awesome and even let me keep my travel stuff in their office as I played. Food upstairs is good as well. Good people here!
Great little golf course. Very comfortable atmosphere, helpful staff.
While waiting on other golfers to fly into Portland my uncle and I utilized the putting and chipping greens then had lunch and picked my fantasy football team. The staff in the pro shop a.d the restaurant were great and very nice. If you have an hour or two to kill, and you have clubs, it is a nice place to go near the airport.
Clean facility, pleasant staff and enjoyable views of the driving range. I had a quick bite after my flight into town while on my way to Corvallis. Grilled chicken salad and wings yummy
A great place to hit a bucket of balls and work on your golf game and technique. A very picturesque smaller version of Colwood Golf Course as we remember it before they downsized to an executive part 3 course. But kid you not it is a great track wonderful for perfecting your short game and approach shots. The other noticeable and very much appreciated standpoint of this course is the cleanliness of the facility. Very tidy and well kept. Friendly staff, educated and informed golf staff, and no high pressure from scratch golfers cuz they don't come here. Give it a try it's well worth it. They do special events Banquets and have a restaurant and bar but I have not partaking in that portion of the facility.
I did not golf but attended a wedding here. The staff were friendly and helpful. There are TVs in the bar area and a nice selection of drinks. Everything was clean and quiet.
One of my favorite driving ranges in all of Portland. The course is a par 3 with 9 holes where you play whites or blues. Prior to covid you could sit on the balcony and enjoy the beautiful view of the natural preservation the course is on.
Nice course for beginners or a date. Tee boxes are sort of in rough shape and the greens are the slowest I’ve ever played. You have to forget everything you know about putting to play these greens and just blast the ball.
It's kind of awesome you see that you're playing going you playing you know golfing and you see airplane going down and going up by the airport it's kind of cool
Attended an organization's quarterly lunch meeting here today. Beautiful view out over the driving range and fairways on a bright, sunny and brisk late winter day. The driving range was liberally sprinkled with yellow golf balls, like a massive Easter egg hunt preview.
The buffet laid out for us was SUPER: super attractive, super delicious, and super plentiful Green salad with cherry tomatoes and dried cranberries; green bean casserole with cherry tomatoes and slivered almonds; potatoes au gratin with a marvelous cheesy crust; rolled pork roast; buttery dinner rolls; chocolate chip cookies. Will not have to eat again till Saturday!!!
Love the course just not the greens
i go here once a week and i love it it has beautiful view there is a place to practice putting and a driving range not to mention the very cheap prices aswell it ranges around 10-20 dollars and the course aswell is amazing there is some wildlife such as geese and birds and all of which are great to watch i could buy 1 medium bucket and it would last 1 hour and its around 15 bucks great place i recently bought a giftcard for the shop for 50$ and theres so much to chose from i cant even decide
A great little course that's affordable and close. I've gotten great lessons there from golf pros for a very reasonable price. The renovations they did really made for a nice driving range.
I had my Retirement Party last Sunday, everything went well , from beginning to end. The day off Anna was the best, made sure everything went well always checking with me what else I needed, everyone was impressed with the place and was so accommodating, This is the only place to party, I will fully recommend this place to everyone, Thank You Again Anna
With a 10:10 tee time, there was no one on the course. Greens were in great shape. Fairways we're a little soft, but, not bad considering the recent rain. A fun quick 9 holes of golf.
For my neighborhood driving range I love this place. Great par 3 too. Friendly staff and a very chill place to practice your swing. Bare bones in all the right ways
good course. I recommend playing from the blues for 9 holes and then the whites on the 2nd 9 holes. fun to play
Always enjoy playing this renovated par 3 golf course. Each hole has 2 different length tee's to give you work on your short game. I actually played each tee to make it more of a challenge. Well maintained, good driving range & I appreciated the military discount.
Awesome driving range. All par 3 course 9 hole
Walking in the rain, just walking in the rain what a glorious time... Come on sing along.
... This is one of the hidden treasure trails in the Emerald City. Park at the north east corner and hike South for a challenge, hike west for a gentle glide. If you find a golf egg it's your lucky day!
Have experienced many family functions there. The staff and venue are always top notch!
Decent foot gold spot, cheap golf cart rentals and a pretty long course.
Just went to Colwood for a work get together. We didn't play golf, but had drinks and appetizers. Everything we ordered was good. The service was impeccable thanks to Nicky who was simply great.
Love Colwood. Best par 3 course in Portland, period. The course has two different tee boxes and hole locations (blue and white) for each hole, making it great for beginners and intermediate/advance golf players.
The greens are the best part of the course, very fun to play compared to the typical flat greens at other Portland golf courses. You can tell their was thought put into them.
The grill is alright and needs a little work especially with Portland's food scene. The customer service is great throughout.
Haven't tried the club bra and girll but it's a very inexpensive par 3 course that takes roughly an hour to an hour and a half for most to complete. Easy place to practice irons, chips, and some pretty challenging putting greens if you want to put from way out on some the larger greans. Great seasonal and off season prices and if you have the time to golf more often the Portland golf parks membership makes colwood even more attractive for a quick and easy 9 holes at 5 bucks anytime any day.
Best driving range in town
Nice clean great staff
I miss the old 18 hole course, but the par 3 they have now is great. Some challenging shots to be made for sure if you want to make pars consistently.
Very nice staff! Amazing Bar service! Even when the kitchen was closed still provided some snacks and just was amazing. Definitely returning. A++!
First time playing a par 3. A lot of fun and budget freindly
Great facilities but if I had a dollar for every time they decided to change their hours or the days they close early to pick up range balls I would be a rich man. What gives?!
Haven't been here in awhile, WOW! Love the improvements. Look forward to doing a round soon to see how it plays
Great little course to spend an afternoon. Par 3, 9 holes, but a good challenge! Great new event space to be open in 2017.
I'm a beginner and this place is perfect for me. Also there is a course next to it( part of it sort of) that has some short holes and putting that you can rent by the hour.
Love hitting some balls on the newly renovated range. This place always has good deals running for a brew and golf. They also have some pretty great tournaments!
We love this place, they have a great little 9 hole par 3 course with two sets of tees. They also have a fantastic driving range
We decided on Colewood to have my father's 60th birthday party, and thanks to Sue, Chef & the rest of the staff, the party was perfect. Sue was entirely accommodating, we were able to decorate anywhere and everywhere, just how we wanted. She allowed us to come the day before to get the decorations up (it took six hours) Chef did an outstanding job on the food for 100_, the chicken was well done and caramelized as requested, the pork roast moist and tender, everything was delicious - and they allowed us to bring in some from our own restaurant, to have the option to pick and choose to our liking was outstanding. We would use the clubhouse and their services again in a heartbeat and would recommend them to anybody asking.
I had the best wedding theree, everyone was so helpful.I was the first to have my wedding in there new area. I'm proud to say that's my spot I take friends there for lunch. Thanks to all the staff.
Nice good course for beginners. They also offer a driving range and a putting ground. It's not very expensive. Can get a little muddy after rain.
Nice course. Easy to overlook location but worth a stop in. Great staff and almost top notch facility.
Excellent. Except...Alderwood course should have 50% off for Portland Players Card holders. Do better!
The service was excellent. The staff was very nice and helpful. Great experience. Food was very good. I would come here again and reccomend friends and family to come here as well.
I really enjoy this place food is great and drinks as well but the ladies and gentlemen that work here I just love.... great personalities very welcoming!
Most often here for the driving range - open late (9 pm), helpful staff at desk, waitstaff even came out to see if we needed a beverage!
Really nice, if there was NOT bums everywhere. They grabed the pop can out of my hand before i finished it..jk
I was treated very well there. I rode my bike though and had to go through a lot of glass in the last few blocks approaching Colwood. I'm probably just bitter because my game sucks.
Easy, cheap, decently maintained. All the things you need from an executive course
They are making some good changes at this course. It's casual and you can enjoy drinks while hitting balls at the driving range
Great golfing here. A staff that is genuinely enjoying their gig. Visit a few times and you're part of the party. Thanks Kerry!
Very nicely kept greens. Great par 3 -9 hole course.
Driving range is quick and easy. Very covid friendly. Plus par 3 courses are very fun.
Love the new driving range love the new grings love the new grass don't like it when it rains delicious food upstairs after you're all done a nice tall glass of root beer mug what more could you ask
We had a great time at our meeting and the staff are outstanding. The food was top notch! Thanks for everything, you guys rock!!!
Well kept overall, golfers do not take care if greens well.
I have attended wedding reception, birthday parties and church celebration. The services for these events were Great!. I would recommend Colwood for anyone who asked.
I like this 9-hole course. Mostly Par 3 with I think one par 4? Very friendly staff. Not a place you're going to use your driver much but a nice inexpensive course.
Good short course to praise your irons. lunch and a bucket of balls for $10. Good week day pit stop.
Good practice facility. Well maintained, friendly staff. Reasonable pricing.
Quiet, accessible, convenient, pleasant, great driving range, great food, great staff, challenging par 3 nine hole ( with alternate holes for 18).
Friendly staff with good balls. Easy access for seniors - all one level.
Great place 2 play 9 holes, cost effective & friendly.
Service was very good and they had a friendly staff. They had a meeting in their banquet hall and weren't staffed well for it so it seemed kind of slow.
Great course for working on your short game,; greens are really slow, but this course is a great value for the money.
Good service and friendly staff. Prices vs. quantity of food is fair. Will be a repeat customer in the near future
$12 for large bucket of balls.
Lots of room on the driving range.
Quick 9 with somewhat limited crowd. Plus I live down the street. Best time is from 10am-2pm weekdays
Food excellent! Bar staff helpful and kind! Really enjoyed their hospitality and service.
Great place for golf and the kids golf classes are fenomenal first-T love it!
Great view of the course from dining room. Very good food for luncheon and dinner meetings.
We call this The Club. Great staff. Cold beer. Music. Balls. Lights. What else could be better.
Decent facility. Could use a cover, although I have heard they will get one soon. Staff is friendly and informative.
Nice small course. Good for working on short game. Food in the clubhouse is good too.
Place is badass. Very affordable
Phenomenal food. Way friendly, personal wait staff whose efficient & a great view
Super fun place to hit a bucket or play some par 3. Stay safe and get outside to golf!! Portland gem
It's was a really fun casual course.
if it weren't for all the goose poop, I'd give it a 5
Quality golf for a good price. The driving range is good.
Great day until 5th hole
Fantastic job on the remodel, driving range, excellent, practice putting green, fantastic, nice little par three course, great job, fun course
Didn't even know it was a nine hole as well. Great for working on short game. Worth it just to get out of the house.
This place is on the come up. They play music outside at the range. The staff is nice. Good place to come and practice
Good for a quiet lunch break in the bar, nice to sit outside on a sunny day and watch the folks on the drive range.
Slapped a few balls here. Great course to hit with the boys.
Took lessons there with the Pro Dennis and he was great. Good course for a quick game and to get some practice in.
Most diverse golf course and driving range I've ever seen. Lots of interesting things to do there.
You can tell they take care of this place. Great time for a date or group of friends.

Complete makeover looks great a little bit more work left to do. However, still fully operational
Love the course, nice little par 3, ground is nicely fertilized with goose poo.....lol
