Reviews of The Links at Challedon
Maureen Heim
A big shoutout to John and crew (especially Emily and Tracy) at The Links at Challedon. We had an anniversary party at their beautiful venue (overlooking the golf course) this past weekend. John went out of his way to answer all of our questions over the past few months (and I asked many 😊). The prices were reasonable (for the venue, food and alcohol). You get to pick from a variety of choices (both buffets and plated meals available). Emily and Tracy worked the event. They were so welcoming, and provided outstanding service! The food was delicious (especially the chicken parmigiana and the berry cobbler). I highly recommend this venue!

Played the course yesterday for the first time this season (July 7) Used to play regularly when you honored the Tee Time Golf Pass for other than walk-on play. I play with a group of 15 guys, who would play Challedon regularly if you accepted the discount book for scheduled play.
Except for the tee boxes, which are in terrible condition, we found the course in very good shape and very playable.
Pro shop and club house staff are very professional and courteous.
Restaurant food is excellent and reasonably priced.

I can’t say enough good things about my experience at The Links at Challedon! The pro shop, Bar & Grill, events area, and grounds are beautiful, clean, and inviting. Best golf carts I’ve ever seen. I had my 1st lesson with Jim Smithburger which was a pleasant and insightful experience. He is an incredibly talented instructor that is not intimidating and puts you at ease so you can concentrate on your swing; especially important for a frustrated beginner. Jim had me hitting the ball and gave me a set-up I can take and practice on my own. After the lesson he gave me a tour of the facilities. I look forward to returning for further lessons.

The course layout is excellent, there are great views and overall is a good value with the offseason rates. The tee boxes need to be filled in and the greens are really torn up, it may be helpful to highlight the need for players to fix ball marks more. Many putts were affected by ball marks. Course staff is always very helpful and courteous.

I heard from a friend about an awesome Golf Professional (Jim Smithburger) that gives fantastic golf lessons at the Links at Challedon. So, I called & purchased a package of lessons for my husband on Fathers Day. 4 months later, my husband is playing like a pro and I’ve even started lessons from Jim as well! Jim is professional, punctual, and genuinely cares about his students. The facility is beautiful, the Grille has yummy food & great drinks, and everyone that works at Challedon is kind and courteous!
5 star review, hands down! Jim Smithburger is running a tight ship and it shows! Definitely reach out if you’d like to improve your game & swing!

We played as a 4-some on 9-3-2022 (Saturday). It was my first time here in about ten years or so. The course was is great shape and our group had fun. Having played about 30+ rounds of golf since March, this was the slowest round of them all (4 hours, 43 minutes). We had come in on the back end of a tournament which we were told could take us close to 6 hours to complete! Although the round was a bit long, we'd still come back because the course was so nice.

Beautiful night hitting golf balls! Had a great lesson with Jim Smithburger. He was both knowledgeable and encouraging and within an hour I improved my grip, stance and accuracy. Can’t wait until next week!

Jim Smithberger has been an amazing instructor for my son. After 3 months of Jim’s instruction my son has gone from someone who had never swung a golf club to consistently shooting in the 90’s for 18 holes and he is rapidly heading for shooting in the 80’s. Jim is patient and focused on constantly improving my son’s technique. Jim is a pleasure to work with. I couldn’t recommend him more highly.

My review is on Jim Smithburger the Challedon Golf Pro. Decided to take up golf. To learn the basics of the game properly, I decided professional instruction was important. Challedon is close so I reached out and got Jim. With no experience, on my first lesson, Jim began to work with me on the fundamentals of grip and stance and before the lesson was over, I was hitting an 8 iron consistently at about 120-140 yards. He's patient and encouraging. He also expects you to practice and invest in your development. Good instruction, nice course, and the Grill has good food. Just a good experience and Jim is the best.

Played here yesterday and course conditions were excellent for winter time. Greens were fast and well-maintained. However, the pace of play was absolutely brutal though. That’s a pretty constant theme each time I’ve played here. The starter/ranger was also very rude when we were checking in. Regardless, Challedon is hands down the best course in Carroll County.

My son had never played golf, and showed interest, so we signed him up for 6 hours of lessons with the Challedon golf director, Jim Smithburger. Jim was knowledgeable, friendly, encouraging and patient. Challedon provided us weekly with a cart, bucket of balls, junior set of clubs, and access to the members range. Jim and the GM (Dave I think) could not have been nicer or more accommodating. Jim worked with my son on ball position, grip, backswing, tempo, and follow through. My son showed great improvement over the 6 weeks and had a great time. We will be back for more lessons in the spring. Thanks, Jim! Shout out to Steve for being awesome too. Also, hit the restaurant while your there for quality crab cakes, salmon bowl, and bacon mac n cheese.
Michael Replogle
Very pretty countryside. Beautiful fairways, greens and tee boxes less so. But it's late in the season.
Very chunky grass lies around greens made chipping difficult. Greens were fast and fairways slow. No one on staff to bring around refreshments. But l will go again, just in the summer.

Based on a neighbor's recommendation I enrolled my son (9) and daughter (7) in Challedon's summer golf camp last year. Even though they had never touched a club before Pro Golf Professional Jim Smithburger really worked with them and instilled the love of golf. Fast forward a year later, my children participate in Challedon's after school golf program and specifically asked for private lessons with Jim. Even though golf is hard, Jim's positive attitude and calm demeanor is contagious and he keeps the kids excited and focused. They look forward to lessons as Jim mixes it up with driving range and course practice. Even when we are just at the club to hit some balls, Jim is always so welcoming and encouraging. I've seen so much improvement in my kids game that I signed my husband up for lessons with Jim as well. It is also very convenient to get something to eating at the grille after lessons. I would highly recommend Jim Smithburger!

The staff at the Links were so gracious and kind. With John’s coordination, the entire team came together to make my 25th birthday brunch one of the best experiences of my life to date. All of my guests were FLOORED at the beauty of the venue and the personability of the staff. They made all the arrangements for my event within 2 hours and did not miss a single beat. I would highly recommend the Links for your next gathering.
God bless.Thank you Challedon team for a day I will never forget! Xoxo.
Sam Commodari
Hosted a golf tournament at my company with the Links at Challedon and the experience was incredible! The course was pristine, team was awesome to work with, and we can't wait to head back in 2023!
Ryan Lee
Because of tournaments, outings, leagues and school golf, the course is often not open for public play. For this reason, do not go to Challedon without a reserved tee time. Also, the restaurant schedule varies, so call them before visiting, too.

A last minute decision to play 9 with the wife and it did not disappoint. Winter conditions but sunny and high 40's. Friendly young gent at the bar so a stolen great day overall!
Nicholas Vendemia
My son and I enjoyed our round on Friday evening. The pace of play and the course conditions were both good. Grabbed some food from the clubhouse at the turn which was good as well.
Would like to see the rough a little taller, but other than that I enjoy the layout of the course.
Please keep up the good work.

Got a great rate yesterday for a course that we always enjoy golfing at. Staff always friendly and accommodating. For Fall conditions(very sandy greens) course was very playable. Fall colors definitely showing at The Links at Challedon!
Steven Kahan
I enjoyed playing Challedon but did find that some of the tees needed help and we never saw a refreshment cart at all. I also thought the greens were weird. It was like they were crosscut and not very smooth. Maybe you recently did some maintenance to them, and they needed to grow in. But I certainly would consider coming back.
Carrie Kraynak
Great course, facilities, and instruction. Looking to get my son into golf so I reached out for lessons and contacted Jim Smithburger. Jim is awesome! I was originally just looking for my son, but Jim asked about my game and mentioned father/son lessons. I didn’t know that was even an option! Signed us up and after just the first lesson noticeable improvement for the both of us and Jim made it fun for young man. I am really impressed, can't wait for our next lesson.

The Links at Challedon is the best kept secret that needs to be shared! My son has participated in the summer golf camps, after school lessons, and now private lessons with Jim Smithburger. Having a positive exposure to golf at a young age has truly created a love for the game. Regardless if he makes the high school team, he’ll be able to enjoy rounds of golf with his dad for years to come. And the staff are great, from the pro shop to the grille. I’m looking forward to another season!

Just finished my first golf lesson with Pro Golf Professional Jim Smithburger. Amazing!! I went in nervous and unsure but left confident and fire blazing for more!! He first analyzed my swing…out of 20-25 balls only one in the air and all to the left. After telling me what we were focusing on this week I hit my nine iron 135 yards on average and straight! I did exactly what he said, he kept me focused and relaxed. Challedon is a beautiful facility and couldn’t have felt more welcomed. Can’t wait for next week!
Gary Liddick
Had a golf lesson today with Jim Smithburger at Challedon and I had great instruction on my irons. What a difference the hour instruction made. I was hitting good shots 75 percent of the time as opposed to last lesson it was only 35 percent. Thanks Jim you are a great teacher. Can’t Waite until my next lesson.
Scott Bosse
I have taken my first set of lessons with Jim Smithburger after 40 years of occasional golf. I wished I had done it years ago! Jim has improved my technique dramatically. He does it one or two adjustments at a time and he explains it clearly as we go. I will continue with him until I get my game where I want it to be. Jim is patient and offers only encouragement. He never criticizes only offers adjustments and repetition to reinforce what I’ve learned. I would recommend him to any skill level player.

Beautiful course, great clubhouse and dining area, good food and nice employees. My 7 year old loves the after school program, my dad and I enjoy playing 9 late in the day then meeting my mom and daughter for dinner at the Grille, and I just learned a ton at my 1st lesson with Jim Smithburger who is knowledgeable, professional, and fun!
Evan Dickstein
Challedon is a great golf course for golfers of all levels because it is a laid back environment yet the greens are kept in amazing shape. Jim Smithburger is a phenomenal golf instructor with very good prices for private lessons. I highly recommend him whether you are a new golfer or just need to fine tune a specific area of your game. The bar and food are extremely good with excellent prices.
Linda Clutter
We were there for Fogle's and Friends golf tournament. Where they donated approx. $20,000 to "Make a Wish Foundation". Fun day...thanks to everyone who donated. Amazing place to play.
Billy Earles
The Links at Challedon is one of my favorite places to play golf. Everything is well kept. The greens are perfect. The fairways are the best in the area. Prices are a little higher but it is worth it to play.
Barbara Moore Miller
Beautiful warm November evening to share a meal with old friends on the patio. A birthday dinner was called for and enjoyed by all.
Tim Loden
Played Challedon yesterday after returning from our home in Sunset Beach, NC for a family visit in Mount Airy. Really enjoyed the round with old friends. The pace of play was very good, never waited on a tee more than a few minutes on a couple of the par 3’s as expected. However, my biggest impression was the the fairways, traps and greens were in excellent condition. Some of the tee boxes still in progress but very obvious the effort is there by the grounds crew to improve all the tee off areas — new sod, weed control, over seeding, etc. As usual, entire staff (Pro-Shop, Starter, waiter and management staff) very friendly during the day. Always fun to play and dine at Challedon.
David Dekowski
Jim Smithburger is the best golf coach I have ever had, hands down! I have worked with 4 or 5 coaches over time and while they were all helpful, no one has produced better results in my swing than Jim. For my first lesson my son was home for Spring Break, so I brought him along to share the lesson with me. He was so excited about the results he saw in one half lesson I had to promise him more lessons with Jim over the summer. One of the things I like about Jim is he corrects only a few things at a time, so you don’t get overwhelmed. His vast experience really shows. Jim’s style? Talk about positive and encouraging. I feel like I’m ready for the green jacket after a lesson with Jim. Today, a couple hours after my latest lesson, I got a text from Jim telling me “great work at the lesson today”. Who does that? Jim does.

What a great course to play! It is like being at a country club without the insane prices! The course is well maintained, and stocked with ice cold water frequently along the course. The rough plays tough as it should, but if you put it in the short stuff, it's soft and playable all through the day. The greens are challenging but fair, and in great condition. When you're through with the round, the food is top notch! A must play course in the middle of Maryland!

The links at Challedon is a special place. All the perks of a private country club with public access for all. The food at the clubhouse is exceptional, seriously. The view on the patio over looking the putting green and the course is really something. Really nice after hitting a few balls and you want to relax with family. This summer and fall I have been relearning the game. Luckily, I stumbled across the local golf pro Jim Smithburger. With Jim’s positive and skillful approach to teaching he has gotten me on the path to playing well and really enjoying the game.

Great well manicured 18 hole golf course for all types of golfers. Full service golf course with well stocked pro shop, tavern style restaurant with beautiful stone patio, nice practice facility with driving range, greens and bunkers to improve your skills. The Links has several teaching pros and I give Jim Smithburger five stars for his teaching prowess, friendly personality and professionalism. He helped me improve my handicap significantly with a couple of lessons. He analyzed my swing path, grip and alignment and made quick, helpful adjustments to improve my game significantly. If u want to get rid of bad habits and truly learn the correct form and how to play the game in a consistent manner I highly recommend booking lessons with certified PGA instructor Jim Smithburger! Oh and did I mention he has been ranked in top 100 MD teaching pros several times!
GolfinnutInVA
Course conditions were Ok. Tee boxes could use some work & the greens all look like no one bends down to repair a ball mark ... ball indentations on every green. One thing is that they could have used a marshal because I didn't think courses allowed 5-somes?? Our 4-some played the front with no problem but on about #13 the two groups in front of us decided they wanted to play together. So for the rest of the round, we had to play behind a slow 5-some. It was quite annoying.

My 14-year old son gained an interest in golfing a couple of months ago. We went to the driving range, even played a round or two and his interest and drive to improve persisted. He has been taking lessons with Jim Smithburger, Golf Professional at Challedon, and his swing, rhythm, accuracy and distance have all significantly improved in a very short time.
Together we have enjoyed several rounds of golf together now as well as partaking in the offerings at The Grille. The service tends to be a bit slow, but the food has been fantastic every time we've dined there.

I've been taking lessons with Jim Smithburger. I've taken lessons in the past but saw limited to no improvement. Jim is a consummate professional. He quickly recognized my faults (there are many) and came up with a plan to address them. Only three lessons in and I'm striking the ball better than ever. I highly recommend seeking him out for instruction.

“Really nice event space in Carroll County is sometimes hard to come by so wanted to share a great find! We hosted a networking event at The Links at Challedon in their dedicated event venue. It was perfect! Staff was attentive and the tent was so comfortable. There is pretty draping and flooring which makes the acoustics so round. The outside backdrop is pretty and the food is always really delicious. I would host a birthday/anniversary party/shower or intimate wedding there. It would also work nicely for corporate retreat! They are a fun group to work with! Heather Akers, Event Manager

Great 5 star golf lessons from Golf Pro Jim Smithburger! I lowered my golf score by 11 strokes after first lesson! Super instructor, very patient, understanding listener. Tremendous instruction to correct my alignment, address, and rotation mechanics. Four more lessons and hope to see score go down another 10 to 15 strokes. Very reasonable cost and great facility at Chalcedon Golf Course! Super place to play, improve game and have a great meal and drinks! Highly recommend!!!!

We had an extremely great day. The course was in outstanding condition (the fairways, the greens and the sand were very well maintained). It was a pleasure to play because the course was not backed up with players on every hole. Will definitely return before the end of the season.
John Hess
The golf course was beautiful, but the grass off the fairway was 4 inches tall and nobody could get it out of there properly. That is ridiculous for this time of the year when it’s not hot, that you’ll have to leave the grass that high. The senior tees at several holes did not give the seniors much of an advantage on distance. I feel like I wasted my money and my partners money when we played yesterday since it was not enjoyable. Sorry
Robert Purgason
I really love this course and how the management continues to not rest on a great thing, but instead continues to look to improve in the course, training facilities, and the clubhouse. To that point, they recently hired a golf professional, Jim Smithburger, with whom I have been working with for about 4 years now. He has really fine tuned my swing and has added distance for me off the tee with my driver and with my irons by 10+ yards consistently. If you are looking to work with a great guy and an even better instructor at a top notch training range, give the course a call and ask for Jim. I’m so glad he has been added to the staff at Challedon.

Overall my foursome enjoyed our 18 holes of golf at Challedon on August 20th. The staff was very friendly and helpful, however, the pace of play on our back nine was considerably slower and the front? It would have been helpful if there were player assistants on the course to eliminate bottlenecks and have slow groups pick up the pace. The course was in "decent" condition...some of the tee boxes and fairways were spotty with and abundance of crabgrass. The new carts were excellent. After our round, we ate dinner on the patio, the food was outstanding, the two crab cake entree, and our server, Madison, was super!

Challedon is one of my favorite courses to play. Unfortunately the slow play most of the time is a real problem! There is no Marshall and a lot of times you have people that play that have absolutely no clue about golf edict! When there is a couple of foursomes behind you, you can’t keep hitting two balls off the tee, hello people goto the driving range if you want to spend 6 hours on the course! There has been many times when people in front of me are waiting in the fairway for people to get off the greens before they hit their next shot. When you are 250-300 yards away from the green, pretty sure you shouldn’t be waiting. I will continue to play at Challedon but will have to carefully select a time where it doesn’t take 5hrs to play and am waiting on every shot, OMG!
Jimmy U
Course is nice and wide open, and normally in decent shape. Some greens are in low spots, like hole 18, and have a lot of unhealed pitch marks from the greens being so soggy. The club increased prices back toward the end of 2019 and hardly ever offers deals thru popular tee time apps, even for twilight tee times. Would be much better if the club stopped gouging the players. The food in the club house restaurant is great and the staff is very friendly. The prices for a round of golf at this course are really just too expensive for what this course is. Not many spectacular views, just a course squeezed in between a neighborhood.
Matt Cifa
Course conditions were in great shape, especially considering the extreme heat and recent heavy rains we've had. Layout of the course is pretty open with wide fairways and length is shorter than average which makes it an easy round to get through. Greens run a little slow so you definitely have to make sure to have plenty of speed behind your putts.
One downside to our round was that the pro shop/management was disorganized. My playing partner had called the day before to reserve rental clubs. The management took forever locating them which caused us to lose some valuable time on the range.
Overall, it's a solid course for the cost. Is it the best? No. Is it the worst? No. It's definitely worth playing if you haven't before.
Sean McCormick
I had my first lesson with Jim and excited to go back. After my first lesson he noticed two things that helped my alignment. He noticed more in a hour than what others didn’t after 10 lessons. I am excited to continue to work with him and see the progress! Current handicap 15– goal is and 8.
Gamber Treasurer
Love the course played many times thereoutings etc....played yesterday and took over 5 hours-way too long waiting on each tee box-I had a gift certificate which they did not honor--which did not have an expiration date--tee boxes were in bad shapeother then that nice course --will be back you wanted a review which I never do but those two things did bother us playing thanks
Sanjeev Arab
I liked it but it could be better if they cut rough grass by another 1-2 inches because I kept losing the ball in the three to four inch tall Bermuda grass even though I was 5-10 yards from the fairway. Also, there was a six some playing in front of us. The marshall should have noticed this. Thanks
Wendell Rudacille
My son and I played 18 yesterday. He lives in England and plays regularly there. He was impressed with the great course conditions this early in the year. It was crowded, but everything was handled very efficiently, from check-in to starting. The starter did a great job setting us up with an extra cart since my non-golfing wife went along as an observer. Compared to other courses in the area we've played recently, Challedon is in excellent shape. The last time I played there, the back nine was the front nine. I liked the change from what used to be #10 to #1 now. Thanks for keeping the course in great condition and the very efficient service, and the hot dogs were delicious!
John Anacker
This facility and staff are top notch. I had the pleasure of taking a few lessons with Jim Smithburger and so far, have improved by leaps and bounds! There are several practice areas - all in great shape. The pro shop is well stocked and the grill is great after a round or even a night out. I look forward to coming here more often.
Roger West
I played on a Monday. There was a small outing on the course, but the pace of play was still good. Course conditions were very good, especially the bunkers which is my gripe with most other courses in the area.
The staff was friendly and efficient as always.
The improvements made to the course over the past year are noticeable and appreciated.
I definitely recomend playing this course.
UPDATE: While I play there a lot, I played 11/4 and the place was in great shape. One group didn't exactly help the pace of play, but I certainly don't blame the course for that. Always a friendly staff!
thomas Hanscom
Jim Smithburger is a awesome Golf instructor! He is very patient and is committed to making sure your have a great experience learning.
The club house has awesome food and wonderful service. Natalie is awesome.
Camden Tofil
Staff is incredibly friendly and the course is great. In particular, Jim Smithburger the Golf Pro is awesome. I took some lessons with him and he knows his stuff and was super friendly and just wanted to help me improve my game.
Stephen Howard
I met the new head golf professional, Jim Smithburger last week at the course. He checked our group in. Jim was incredibly professional and accommodating. We felt welcomed and his knowledge of the course and facility was spot on. Challodon is a beautiful golf course and a top notch facility. Hats off to the owner and management for bringing Jim in. Great move!
Jan Niemiec
If you have not been to Challedon in awhile you are in for a treat. The golf course is in great shape and the management is helpful and there to serve. Recently my coach, Jim Smithberger, started working at Challedon as a golf pro while still teaching. I have been working with Jim for over 4 years at various golf courses/ranges and Challedon ranks as the best yet. From a will maintained and groomed course to private tees for individual lessons, and delicious food, Challedon is a delight.
Eric Williams
I haven't played this course in 12-15 years. It just hasn't been convenient to get there. There was a frost delay to day that we played so that pushed out 12:40 start time back to about 1:15. The round was a bit slow but understandable given the delay. I REALLY enjoyed the course today. It was in vary good condition and I loved the challenges and elevation changes. The greens ran medium with some challenging pin placements. I would definitely go back.
Bryan Becker
Played yesterday. I play here alot since its local to me and I have a family membership. The layout is great. Alot of rain lately so the rough was pretty high...understandable. Course is in decent shape...pace was good (4 hours on a holiday). I will agree on the covid-19 thoughts. The holes should have the foam in them. No rakes. The starters, they were young kids, did not have masks on. The girl in the pro shop did have the mask on and was very nice. Need more covid precautions and no charge more if u want ur own cart. Outside the covid issues everything else was great.

We spent a lovely birthday evening on the links at Challedon and although we used to be on the course daily, when our son was a junior golfer, we don’t get there as often, sadly. We have always loved the people at Challedon from the pro shop office to the grounds crew to the restaurant workers. Everyone is great. That has not changed at all and we still love visiting with people we have grown to know and love over the years, as well as meeting all the new faces, as they are also very friendly, and engaging. The course has had its struggles with maintaining greens and tee boxes over the years but has always seemed to get them under control and provide a beautiful setting in which to play golf. I must say though that over the last few years the upgrades and maintaining of the clubhouse and the course have really added an increased beauty and value to the experience at Challedon. What is new at Challedon over the last year or so is the increased vitality with families and youth on the range, taking lessons and playing routinely at the course. When my son first developed his passion for the sport he was one of the few youth to be at the course regularly developing his game. Now it has quite changed in that so many youth are there enjoying the sport and working to improve their skills. It is wonderful to see that Challedon has found the key to making this a vibrant golf community for families and kids of all ages. Thank you Challedon for everything you have done to make us always feel like family over the years and for providing the experiences you have given our son which have been invaluable to his ongoing success in college and life.
Rachel McCusker
Lessons at Challedon with Jim Smithburger have been outstanding! He’s very knowledgeable and patient. Whether you are a beginner like me or a seasoned golfer looking to
up their game, I highly recommend him.

Today was my first ever practice lesson with a golf professional. I’ve being playing for 4-5 years with a nasty slice and in 45 minutes Jim Smithburger changed my swing for the better. We have a long road to get me at 12 handicap but I believe he will be able to get me there. The practice area is in great condition and I love playing here on a regular. I strongly recommend Jim Smithburger as a coach and trainer.
Loren Rush
The course is a beautiful layout. The staff was friendly and efficient. While well taken care of, the tee boxes need serious work. The fairways are in reasonable shape but could use seeding once in a while. The greens roll fair but a few too many bare spots. Overall, our experience was enjoyable. Now that we have our maiden voyage around the course out of the way, we look forward to playing the links at Challadon again.
Kristie Anderson
Fantastic golf lessons with Jim Smithbuger! So knowledgeable and patient not to mention reasonably priced. The course is in fantastic condition and the Clubhouse has a great menu. I highly recommend The Links at Challedon.
Luke Knittig
Super friendly. I somehow showed up a day early. Not a problem, they worked with me. Very cool course. Challenging but not overwhelming with every hole interesting. Overall not real long except for the handful of par fives. Top notch in every respect. Was a long drive for me to get there but well worth it.

Great course!!
Don't get out to this one as often as I would like to. Great, friendly staff, and interesting layout. Good challenge for all handicaps. The course is well maintained with some very minor exceptions. Unfortunately the people that are playing the course are not doing a very good job of repairing their divots. I made it a point to repair two on ever green which was nowhere near enough, but...

Challodon is an excellent golf course. I played it several times throughout the year and each time I found the course well maintained in every area. There is a wide range of tees with enough space between then to satisfy the long hitters and the not so long. The rough was reasonably benign minimizing 'egg hunting time'. The layout of the course is such that walking is not practical and taking a cart is recommended. The clubhouse is nice with a good bar having a wide variety of beers from all over the world. The staff was very friendly and polite. I highly recommend the Links at Challedon.

I wasn't going to leave a review, but I keep getting emails from them asking me to please leave a review. To be fair, I am referring to two rounds played 07/28 and 08/02.
Too many times, this course is in bad condition. Tee boxes are a shambles. Greens, generally are ok. But the rest of the course just always looks unkept. And did I mention the tee boxes... bleh.
Really, I enjoy the course, but just compare their prices to nearby tracks and their conditions. Its the price/value that is bad. So yes, I am comparing it to its price point and rivals, and it just doesn't compare. Priced with Maryland National, Whiskey Creek, Waverly Woods, Blue Mash, and it pails in comparison for quality, yet charges in that same class.
I keep coming back, because I always think its going to get better. In the early Spring, its a good deal. But when the weather gets better, it fails to stand up to it's price point.
Terry
I have recently begun taking lessons from golf pro Jim Smithburger at Challedon. He has made such a difference in so many areas of my golf game that it's hard to describe how much he has helped me improve. He is patient, knowledgeable and has excellent teaching skills. Jim is another great example of what the Links at Challedon have done to improve their personnel and facility.

This is the second time that I have played this course, but the first in several years. Overall, the course was in very good to excellent condition (especially the greens), although the pace of play was just a little slow for a Thursday afternoon. It was not too bad, but all three of us observed this. However, it was a gorgeously sunny and cool fall afternoon & none of us were in a hurry, so an extra 15 t0 20 minutes of waiting throughout 18 holes really didn't much matter.
The staff friendly and accommodating. I mention accommodating because when I used my TeeTime book to pay for the round, there was a change in its use that is not noted in the book itself. Apparently the (newish) management's policy is to honor the reduced rate for walk-ons only. I was not told this when I called for a tee time but the staff person who I paid at the course itself honored the Tee Time book rate, which was the right thing to do. This is the type of customer service (along with a course in such nice shape) that keeps folks like me coming back.
Daniel Lee
I've played this course 3 times during 2021 and I really like it. Some long par 5s, challenging terrain and lies, and very thick and nasty rough that will shorten your game. It's a challenging course. Generally well-maintained. Good service. It's a hidden gem.
Vickie Harris Ethridge
Painfully slow, even though sign on cart says we expect 4 HR round. I wish. Several forward tees under repair with forward tees just stuck in the grass, uphill& downhill teeing. $69 a round. Maybe consider a little relief for green fees. Usually one of my favorite courses.
jeff hawley
Played at Challedon yesterday, 8/18/2020. Course was in really good shape and everyone there was very professional and courteous. very nicely run operation. Greens were a bit slow. Looked like they were recovering from a recent aeration. They were consistent at each hole. Overall a good course to play at with lots of challenge
michael purdum
Course was in good shape the thing was the tee boxes. It look burnt up( the grass ). Other than that it was a good time. Course was tougher than I remember which is not a bad thing at all.
Doug & Jen Hubbard
Our 13 year old son had his first golf lesson with Jim Smithburger today, 2/27/22. It was only 30 minutes, but there is already a very noticeable difference! Looking forward to more one on one instruction with Jim!
John DiTomasso
I have a group of guys that play golf once a month at different golf courses in our area. We have been coming to Challedon for 10 years or more. Making arrangements during this pandemic was a bit problematic for me but in the end Challedon came through. I ended up with 10 players and we had a wonderful time. The course was in great shape, the staff was great to work with and the food in the restaurant was excellent. Chris talked about the crabcake sandwich on his recording. I had it and it lived up to Chris’s recommendation. Thank you Challedon!
Joe Terri
Our foursome was greeted by the head pro.
The course is beautiful and challenging. Pin placements was noted with a map of each hole on the scorecard. Unfortunately there was no map of each hole and their fairways which made things difficult especially
Joni Hartman
We played yesterday, and the course was in good shape. The pro shop was accommodating and worked with us to fit 12 players into the schedule—much appreciated!
I was surprised that there are NO COVID-19 safety procedures in place on this course. You must reach in the hole to get your ball (no bumpers), and rakes are by the bunkers. No shields in the carts, and you must share or pay $10.
I was with friends, not family, so this felt uncomfortable to me. I would not ride with a stranger under these conditions. Other courses I have played have shields in the carts, bumpers in the holes, and no rakes—encouraging distancing and safety by not having to touch what others have touched.
Donnie Clayton
Great place. Conveniently close to home. Received great lessons from Jim Smithburger, and I play increasingly better with each lesson. Outstanding food, friendly personnel, and a clean well maintained facility. Moederately Challenging course, with beautiful scenery. Would recommend to anyone looking to play, eat or learn.
Valentine Schell III
Great course. Always in beautiful shape and the staff is very friendly. Lately however, I feel they have been completely overpriced. Its a great course, but not an $80 dollar a round course. I wish you all would stop price gouging, i would love to come back!
Andy Turner
Staff was great, setting was great, grass still green despite being so dry lately. I will agree with some previous reviews that the tee boxes aren't in the best shape. The other issue is golfers not repairing ball marks on the greens. There were TONS! Maybe this could be emphasized by staff when checking in. We had a great day!
Farooq Mustafa
Enjoyed playing my second round. The staff is polite and professional and the course is good shape. Recommend it for folks trying new courses to take a challenge on some holes and yet others are wide open. Good mix of easy and tough holes.
Kwangsoo Han
I played a round on 6/24/18 after a rainy day. The course held up very well and was in a very good condition. The soft greens helped the ball stop nicely, but still the greens were fast enough to roll the ball smoothly. It was my first time at this course, but I can tell the course requires a few tactical club selections off the tee. Nice views also please your eyes. I definitely will play there again.
Jim Loetz
The course is was in good shape. I like playing the course. No complaints about the golf course. The service is not so good. We like to play early in the morning and there was no refreshment cart on the course until the 17th hole. The water coolers had warm water in them and I think it was left there from the day before because it didn't taste good. When we stopped by the clubhouse on the turn to get some refreshments there was no one there and no one answered the phone to place an order on the 9th tee. I give 4 stars just because the course was in great shape.
Garrett Stetson
Overall it's a great golf course. I've played here with my friends a still do play here alot in the summer. The front 9 is challenging and if you dont warm up on the range first your going to struggle to stay even if your an amateur like me. However the back 9 is great with challenging but playable holes. The course is kept nice and taken care of. The driving range is a bit small and is placed out in a horrible spot in between 2 fairways so your constantly having range balls all over the course on holes 9 and 10. Other than that the greens are kept clean and it's a decent course. One of my buddies works as a cook and I was able to play free golf for a while which was awesome for a couple weeks but new management at the pro shop ended that very quickly so paying for golf every week kinda blows but it isnt ver expensive so it's not a booming concern.
Mr. Hahn
I love playing this course for many reason. One the course is always in amazing shape (greens and fair ways are well maintained) Two, the staff are very attentive to the patrons and have amazing customer service.
Three, the bar/restaurant have some very good selection of foods.
Overall I think this course is one of the best in this area!
Syd Carter
My senior group spent a wonderful day playing 18 holes on Oct. 9 where the majestic splendor of fall was in full display. The greens and fairways were well maintained, and the staff (clubhouse, starters, food service, and grounds maintenance) were true professionals. Hope to return again soon.
Jeffrey Gooding
The golf course itself competes with the best in the area. Expertly maintained. Greens/fairways were exceptional even for this time of year. The event staff provides a very welcoming atmosphere while the food is top class. Very impressed from entrance to exit.
William Shyman
“I order food at The Grille at Challedon regularly, it’s good food at affordable prices. The Chef and his team are creative and always preparing specials. My wife and I enjoy eating on the patio in the summer or inside other times of the year. Sometimes after golf I just order carryout and surprise her with dinner.
John Stevenson
Love your course. My group and I have played it for years but since you went to memberships, it seems almost impossible to book us. We usually have 12 guys who play every Tuesday and Thursday. We've played more than 25 different courses this year and none has made it as difficult to book as you. ALL of them took our call and made the proper arrangements. Links at Challedon, however, told us that the only way we could book our groups was to have one person book a time for one foursome online. Another person would book another group and a third person would book another group. We would have to prepay and no matter if we had a last minute cancellation, we would still have to pay for each group. That's just not good business. I don't understand your rationale but you will not see us again at your beautiful course until your policies change.
jason poirier
Fairways were in great shape. The tee boxes could be flatter. Lots of little undulations. The greens have also been beaten up pretty good. A free divot repair tool needs to be given to players as a gentle reminder. Course is always fun to play.
Seven Anderson
A fantastic experience. Kudos to the entire LAC staff for the condition of the course on a February day. The greens were perfect. The traps were well kept and they played as if it were a summer day. Add the 65 degree weather and we had a perfect day. Already looking forward to returning soon.
Robert Uhrine
I will say the positive aspects are the pro shop folks and the starter team. friendly and get you out on the course. The down part is the food/drinks at the turn. lack of food pre-preparation, no grab'n go options plus simple little mix ups with orders cause an unnecessary delays with golfers getting to the 10th hole on time. Suggest a better flow to deliver beverages & food to help pace of play and increase clubhouse revenue.
Jim Pendergast
Played this course for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it. Definitely on my list of courses to play again. The course was in great shape even accounting for all the rain that week. Even with the greens having been top dressed, the greens were very playable and putts ran true. The course does run through a housing development, but the houses are well set back from the course so you don't notice them much.
Douglas Ely
Played 9/29/20. The place was in better than average shape. Fairways were good, rough was cut to a playable height, most bunkers were nicely raked and ready, pace of play was comfortable and the staff was mostly welcoming. The greens were a bit spotty in places and a touch slow for my personal taste, compared to the those I regularly play in the area, but overall it's a very nice course. It offers plenty of challenge if you play from the tips, or even the gold (mens) tees if you can get it out there around 250 or so (my typical max). The silvers seem quite a bit easier, but everything is relative.
There is a fair amount of OB where homes abut the course, so it is important to keep it somewhere in the middle. But, the middle is plenty wide enough for most halfway decent players. And, though there are homes whose properties border the golf course, I don't remember ever feeling that any of the houses themselves were close enough to worry about while standing on the tee. Worst case, a ball could end up OB in someone's backyard, and the homeowner takes possession of your new Pro V. You hit it there, he wins. Don't walk into a backyard to get it, even if you see it. I certainly wouldn't think of it.
The par 5 17th is one where many somewhat capable players will have a realistic opportunity to go for the green in two to set up an eagle putt. The short way home is all over water, but a good drive in the fairway (or even a lofty lie in the 2-3 inch rough) will give even the shorter hitters a chance as long as they play from the proper tees.
I have played The Links at Challendon, four or five times over the last few years, and have enjoyed the experience every time. I will definitely go back again.
Philip Simmerer
Challedon is a gem of a course that is well cared for and the best value in Carroll County. If you're a hack like I was my whole life, do yourself a favor and stop trying to do it on your own. I finally decided to get lessons from a PGA pro and Challedon's Jim Smithburger is the man. My daughter and I started with Jim a few weeks ago and I cannot believe how well I am playing. In just two lessons Jim has me hitting the ball so much farther and straighter and consistently it just brings a big smile to my face after every stroke. And my daughter has a better swing already than I did before starting with Jim. There is no video, book, or swing aid you can buy that can do what a PGA pro did for us in just two lessons. Golf is way more fun and I can't wait for our next lesson.
Ed Frankovic
Course was in good shape with the exception of a few greens on the front nine. Play moved at a good rate during a Sunday morning. Really impressed with the grille, after playing Challedon we used to leave and eat post round at the Greene Turtle. We chose to stay at the newly remodeled Challedon Grille and it was the right choice. The pizzas and burgers were fantastic. In fact, one guy who lives close said he was going to work the Grille into his route on the way home to pick up a pizza. From now we will golf and then eat post round at Challedon.
Connor graham
The Links at Challedon is a nice course and is kept in good condition. I have also been taking lessons with Jim Smithburger who is the Pro at the course. He knows what he’s doing and is a really good teacher. I would definitely recommend him to anyone that wants to improve.
Ryan Connolly
Having played the course it is clear that it is in great condition as well as challenging. I also attended a small group lesson with Jim Smithburger, which was both insightful and enjoyable. Overall I would recommend this course as much if not more than any other course in the area.
Frank Bradley
I shot the best round ever at this course! The course was in very good shape with the exception of some of the green tee boxes. I have played this course in the past and it was in much better shape this time that the last two times that I played there. Definitely a course you should play at some point!
dana hess
The staff at Challedon is outstanding. I've run an event there for 5 years and they are always accommodating. The course has a great layout, but conditions could be improved. The tee boxes are not in good shape (particularly the ladies). Whatever they put on hole #6 for a ladies tee box is a far cry from a tee box. You cannot drive a tee into it unless you spend 5 minutes looking for a little tiny hole. I end up teeing up in the fairway. Should have left the tee box downhill where it used to be. Collars are in sad shape. Greens are average. Some upkeep to the course and this place could be spectacular!
Ed Hall
Haven't played here in a while due to the course being in bad shape. Played on 7/26/19 because emails I received said the course is in great shape. I am confirming that it is in great shape ! Glad to see the it back the way it was years ago. Keep it up ! All the staff were great with one exception. The restaurant staff needs an overhaul. Stopped in for lunch after our round and could not get waited on. It wasn't crowded or busy. They gave us menus and that was it. We finally walked out. Other reviews say the same thing. Very disappointing !!
Rich Carlson - IQSC
Course was in pretty good shape considering all the rain that came this spring. Thanks to Josh in the clubhouse and the starter for accommodating us, we were late getting started, but they fit us in nicely. Pace of play was good. One thing I would add as a suggestion would be for a beverage/snack cart to occasionally come by while playing. Helps keep pace moving at the turn.
John Moore
My group plays here at least once a month year round. The course is almost always in great shape even after all the rain we have had. The staff is very friendly and we have never had a bad experience here. Challedon is our favorite course to play. Keep up the good work!
Todd Swanson
Thanks for providing my family with the family membership to such a beautiful course. It has allowed me to get my wife and boys involved in golf for the first time in their lives and we love the time together as a family. New golf carts are great!
Jim Goodrich
Great course. I have been a member for 6 years. Everyone there from the cart boys, wait staff, to management and pro are all very friendly and helpful. Food is very good. My favorite is the chicken salad wrap. Give it a try and I know you will be back.
Michael Newman
The course wasn't in the greatest shape, especially the tee boxes and some fairways. Greens were good though but if you're going to charge top rates, the course should reflect that. The Starter was polite and helpful.
Sheron Marshall
My Ladies' League plays here on Tuesdays. Very nice course. They offer a Preakness Member Card which entitles you to discounts on the course, in the Pro Shop and in the Restaurant. Food and staff are great, too!
Trevor Baum
Great course, consistently in good condition. They are always improving. Love the grill/bar/patio setting after the round too. Great food and drinks with a lovely ambiance. Solid value too! Pace of play is usually prime.
Thanks Chally!
Brett Trammell
The course was nice. The starter was was very friendly and helpful, and everyone in the clubhouse was as well. The restaurant was out of multiple items. The most off-putting thing was every so often the Marshall would show up and give us a hard time for being slow. The group behind us was never on our heels. I probably wouldn't return.
Daniel Broadwater
Course Review: 1) Tee boxes: in mixed conditions: Often hard to find level striking ground on t-boxes. 2) Fairways: in nice condition; well maintained. 3) Greens in average condition for public course, but many players apparently need to show respect for course by repairing ball marks. Sometimes dozens per green. Pity the greens keeper, who otherwise has done a nice job on and around the greens. Btw. No marshall to be seen on day our foursome played. Group ahead kept us to a rather slow 4hr45min pace. Difficult to score normal with stop-&-go pace. C+ rating for Aug. 30, 2019 course playing conditions.
Linda Rhee
The fairways are in fantastic shape considering the lack of rain. Most of the greens were good as well, with the exception of a couple. Grounds crew keep the course in excellent condition, despite not having rain for almost three weeks. Staff is friendly and very welcoming, even to those of us in the mid-range level of playing!
Corey Hahn
First of all I want to say this course is one of my personal favorites to play in the area. Love the layout and generally the course is in great condition. Today was no exception the Course was beautiful other than a few tee boxes being chopped up from divots(can’t fault the course on that one). The only blemish coming today was a ranger who came up to us after our 10th hole and informing us we were 2 holes behind. Meanwhile had not seen a group in front of us or behind us all day and this is early afternoon on a Saturday. He told us we needed to pick up our pace( with attitude). At this point into our round we were 2 hours and 25 minutes in which according to their pace of play sheet is 3 minutes behind. So not equal to 2 holes by any means. We talked to the ranger defending ourselves and telling him the pace we were on and he gave us attitude about the matter telling us the time we teed off was wrong from his sheet. My friend had an Apple Watch tracking our round time from the beginning so we knew we were not behind. I love a good pace of play policy but when a group is not holding anyone up and is actually on pace a ranger should not be stopping a group to give them attitude about the pace. Eventually a three son came into our range on the back but was always at least a hole behind us (foursome). Normally I would not take the time to write this review but this event angered our entire group and threw us off for a hole or so. I played this course the week before (cart path only) and had a 5+ hour round that I did not complain about due to the crowded day and path only. I will certainly be back to play the course but hope I do not encounter this ranger again due to his attitude and lack of awareness as a ranger. I feel guilty not giving this course a 5 because of one ranger but with that experience I could not convince myself to give a 5 star rating.
Bob Rounds
This by far my favorite course. Even though I live 38 miles from the course it has become my home course. The staff is the best and the course is always in great condition. Many improvements have taken place under the new ownership and they were great. The Grill and the menu is great.
Sarah Parsons
My family eats at The Grille at Challedon often. The food is always delicious and affordable. Chef Jon and his team are so creative and always preparing great specials. The Grille has a great atmosphere for eating inside, carryout, and, our favorite, outside on the patio.
Colin Dubinski
Phenomenal staff and a great course. New carts are fast which makes it easy to get a round in in a reasonable amount of time.
Course is very well groomed and you cannot beat the price.
Paul Sill
Played on 8/31/17. Course was in pretty decent shape. Greens were probably recently aerated as they were a little rough, but not bad. All in all, the course has improved in quality over the last couple of years, and is one of my favorite local places to play.
Danielle Mossman
Course was in good condition. My only complaint was that I called to ask the rate for me and my children to play 9 holes. Was told there was a junior rate $29 but when I got there, I was told it was $39 for everyone regardless of age. They told me I was misinformed. I would have gone to the other course I had called since it was $30 per person. It was already too late so I decided to play. Disappointed they didn’t give me the price I was told.
Robert Coffman
I played yesterday with our Tuesday Golfing Group. The course was in excellent condition for this time of year. I am looking forward to playing again in a few weeks after the greens have healed after aeration.
Tim Holley
Played it for the first time on Labor Day. Normally, if I am in that area, I play Rattlewood (a course I really like). I enjoyed my round at Challedon and believe it to be a good alternative to Rattlewood. Both are similar in price, good golf courses, and have friendly staffs. Rattlewood may be in a little better condition, but the Challedon layout is more interesting. I will be back!
Matt Reaves
I've played Challedon multiple times this year already. The course is always in great shape, just make sure you bring your straight-hitting clubs. OB is everywhere out there since houses surround just about every hole. All of the facilities are great, and at twilight you can ride for around $30, which is pretty good for the quality of the course. Also, it's generally not too crowded compared to other courses closer to Baltimore.
Todd Breidenstein
Thanks for providing an escape yesterday, with everything that's going on, in these crazy times. The brand new carts were a very nice touch. For taking on a good amount of rain, the course was actually in pretty good shape, and at $30, you can't beat it.
Truly want to thank each and every person that punched the clock here yesterday, and continues to do so.
Janie Zinchiak
I played a round recently through Misga and the course was in great shape. I am taking lessons with Jim Smithburger and my game has greatly improved. He is a great instructor to improve your game. Thank you From Zeke Zinchiak
Jim Scarborough
Played there on Labor Day. We went off on time, Mid Morning, and had no delays all day. Greens were a little rough but serviceable. Price was very reasonable and they did offer Senior Rates too! Rough was a little long and we lost some time looking for balls from time to time. Other than that, we had a great day!

Course is in great shape. Having played a few courses lately that didn't seem to care much for cleaning their carts, the new and clean conditions of the carts and entire facility were really appreciated.
John Blythe
One of the best public courses I have played in the Maryland area! Challenging and in great shape. Friendly staff , great food with a good selection in the pro shop. Do yourself a favor and tee it up sometime!
Tom McFalls
Course is in excellent condition. Many courses are showing stress from the summer heat but not this one. This was a nice getaway from our normal course. Very welcoming pro-shop, beverage, and starter. Kudos to the superintendent for keeping the course in good condition in trying times.
John Valente
Always like playing this course. Due to vast amount of rain in our region, the course was muddy and fairways a bit beat up. Greens in decent shape for time of year. Great value as we did the $35 weekday with lunch special.
I.E. Xam
The first nine holes are more difficult than the back nine. For most of course the greens and fairways were in good to very good condition. Elevation on alot of holes. Not a good course for a beginner. Scenic and well laid out.
Benjamin Yingling
Greens are in the best shape I’ve seen in along time. Well done
One heck of a crab cake dinner! Watermelon crushes were amazing. Attentive friendly staff with great outdoor atmosphere.
Rick Almony
Links at Challedon is a good track with lots of hole variety and challenge. The greens and fairways were in impeccable condition. I always enjoy my rounds at Links at Challedon. However, the tee boxes need work. They've struggled with these over the years but it appears that they may be working on them since some regular tee boxes were not in use. If they can get their tee boxes in shape this course can be one of the best in the area.
Mike Garner
The course was in good shape. The greens need a little work. The staff was friendly. I found it to be a fun course. It has something for all skill levels. I will hopefully play it again. I would recommend it to my friends.
Suzanne Precious
Played yesterday first time. The course is beautiful and in great shape. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, including David the manager. I can't wait to play there again.
Ron Levendusky
Course was in great condition despite the lack of rain. Only complaint is that Challedon needs a marshal to enforce pace of play. We followed a twosome of ladies. They took a practice swing before EVERY shot. This contributed to the 4 hour plus weekday round that we experienced.
Norma Lee
Challedon is a BEAuTiFUL golf course. I played it for the first time thru GolfNow yesterday. I found the course well maintained. The crew was out there working hard in the hot sun and Eclipse of the Moon. The rough was "rough" and it was easy to lose balls in there. The layout of the course is really nice but play was very slow. Needed a marshall. The staff was very friendly and polite. I definitely recommend the Links at Challedon. Had a LoVeLY day (*_*)
Jesse Laur
The Links at Challedon recently hosted a golf outing for our high school athletic boosters club and it was OUTSTANDING. We also frequent Grille and golf course and always appreciate the good service and great food!
Christopher Kelleher
The grille is a great place to eat! My wife and I really enjoyed our dinner there. The appetizers exceeded our expectations, and the entrees surpassed their price points. The staff was enjoyable. All around, a very good dining experience!
Kristin Furr
The Challedon event staff provided excellent service to our guests for our 20th class reunion this spring. The manager was friendly and very accommodating. The atmosphere was relaxed, yet professional. They even helped us decorate for our event. I highly recommend Challedon for your next event!
Michael Bauer
Very nice course. The fairways were in really great shape. The greens were in good shape also. It's a challenging course.
Jeremy Reid
I don't golf that often, but when I do - it's at The Links At Challedon! The staff was really friendly during my previous visit and the atmosphere was great.
Despite accidentally breaking my friend's golf driver during my last visit, I can see myself returning to this golf course in the future.
When next my need for golf becomes impossible to resist, to Challedon I will go!
Janet Smith
First time playing the course, and it was in great shape. My only complaint was pace of play. The round took a long time. The grill food was very good. Would play there again.
Robert Vanwaldick
Nice course and in good condition but
Thought the junior rate was too high at $29 for 9 holes on Sunday for my 10 year old beginner
Matthew Bowman
Beautiful course and facilities! Had a lesson with Jim and he helped me fix my game with simple tips. Great experience looking forward to going back
Dan Smith
Their chef is fantastic. We've enjoyed all of his Saturday specials (prime rib, crab cakes, smoked shrimp). Reasonably priced, has a great outdoor patio and kid friendly. Don't miss the live music every other Saturday.
SEUNG AN
Overall course condition was in great shape. Our tee time was 12:06pm and we were able to finish all 18 holes.
claire derwent
Our dinners were excellent! The Chef John's prime rib special was an outstanding value. Especially liked that we could still eat outside.
Benjamin Greenberg
As a terrible golfer, they certainly were welcoming of my lack of experience. Great work staff, great food, and a great time.
Full disclosure: my dad is one of the owners. Great job fixing up the place dad!
Matthew Franko
Played New Year’s Day (45 F) ... course and greens were in BETTER shape than most I’ve played in season... outstanding condition in winter .. traps raked not a leaf anywhere... winter condition projects an excellent 2020 season here...
Nick Brame
Played 5/15/19 and found the Course to be in Great Shape. My Round was enjoyable and fun. The food was good too! I look forward to returning.
Nicholas Buck
Nice course. Look forward to playing there again. Good change of scenery if you normally play at MCG courses. Paid $40 at 2pm with a cart. Great deal
Michael Kisner
Great carts, course and staff. No fuss, no mess to play golf.
Patricia Elizondo
The course is in excellent condition, specifically the fairways and the greens. The staff was helpful and very accomodating. The bar/restaurant food was as good as most country clubs. We'll be back!
Jim Valerio
The course is in excellent shape and the Clubhouse has a warm and inviting feel. Greg and the rest of the Pro Shop staff are attentive to families, regulars, and weekenders alike.
rick jones
Course was extremely well manicured, staff was friendly and helpful. Would like to see more 200 and 150 markers on some of the holes. Otherwise a great course at a reasonable rate.
Carey Sczepucha
I eat at The Grille at Challedon often. It’s always delicious, tasty food at affordable prices. Chef Jon and his team are creative and always preparing specials for eating inside, on the patio or Carryout
Alex Wroblewski Jr.
I would strongly recommend everyone to play at this course. It is a great course to play for all abilities. Food at course very good and the staff very friendly. We enjoy playing there every year for the past 10-15 years.
Bob Krysick
Very friendly staff. Course was in good condition. I very much appreciate the Player Development Program Offer that they have.
In addition, I find the bar and wait staff to be very friendly, caring, and professional; especially Jane!

Family membership is terrific. Friendly staff, nice layout, family friendly, nice restaurant inside the clubhouse for after round. Peaceful setting. We consider this our home course for sure.

For this season of year , Green condition and fairway condition are reasonable. Just couple holes had mud ground . Otherwise , everything is great . We had a lot fun in here .
The club house people are great , nice people , excellent service .
David Brandon
Challedon was in very good shape. The poor area was the sand traps. The sand traps were not raked and seemed to have very little sand in them. That might be because the sand was packed down hard. The rest of the course was in really good shape.
Jian Xu
Played twice this winter so far. Fast and well maintained green. Well maintained fairway. Great for the money. A little slow in the back 9 holes at Saturday.
Ray Fox

i played this sunday, tee boxes are bad as were the greens. The green fees are good, but a little far out. The layout is good, if they could only fix the tee box and greens.....
Ed Patterson
Staff was very accommodating from Greg in the Pro Shop to John the starter. Enjoyable layout with enough hazards to make it interesting for any level.Conditions for late November were impressive .

Got a discounted rate. Not sure it's worth 65+. Solid course. Greens are exceptionally quick and a lot slope. Out of bounds comes into play on a lot of holes. Fun experience. Not overly difficult.

Great track and well maintained fairways greens and bunkers. Course is deceptive length wise visually so trust your markers .
Bruce Bryant

Great course to get out and practice a little but the range balls are overpriced considering there conditions and how you have to hit off of rock solid turf.
