Greens are the best they've been all season. If you play here fix you ball marks!! I fixed about 60 on my last round. Fairways are drought stricken. Comparable to other nearby courses.

As with most courses around here, they’re struggling to recover from the terrible freeze of February, and probably the deluge rains a few weeks ago led to being torn up by carts. The higher dollar private courses have ordered new sod to replace the dead Bermuda, which the freeze damaged to some extent all courses in the area, but doubtful the city courses can afford the amount of sod needed to cover all the damage. Most finer types of Bermuda can’t survive below zero temps like the stuff in our yards can. Keeping this in mind, I know they’ll get it back in shape! Please help by not driving in the staked areas & sanding fairway divots/repair green divots. The greens are still in good shape, just have to play around the staked-off areas.

Classic and great muni golf course. Greens are slow as expected but in good shape. The best thing about Hefner is the grill. 5 stars for breakfast or lunch.

The staff were awesome. Happy to see you and treated everyone with respect. Very eager to answer any questions as it was my first time there. I was very excited to golf there and was pretty disappointed in the condition of the actual course. Tee boxes that had very little to no grass on one or two. The fairway had uneven grass and had weeds in several areas. The greens were fine and quite difficult, so a challenging place for puts! I liked the layout and obstacles on the course but the actual field just seemed sloppy for that caliber of course. I probably won’t go back unless invited by a group, but mostly because it’s a bit far from me. I hope when you go that you have a better experience on the course than I did.

Staff was excellent, pro shop had a lot of cool gear. The building feels dated and the course isn’t in the same type of shape as other public courses in town.

Haven't played the course, but the practice areas are great. Large putting green, great pitching and chipping are and, and pretty good driving range.

There is a clubhouse with a nice selection of clubs, balls, etc. Also a Cafe to get some food. There is a North and South course, a driving range, two large practice putting greens, several chipping areas, as well as a 3 hole par 3 practice course that is awesome for kids/a warm up round. South course is supposed to be easier than North. South course is good if you haven't played in a few years/beginner or if bringing young players that are learning. Carts are a little older, but still good.

I played my first round of golf here some 30+ years ago. This entire facility both North and South course have always been well managed and maintained. The club house staff have always been helpful. The courses are challenging yet friendly to all levels of skill GO play it. You will enjoy it.

This is the closest course to me, and I'm pretty happy about that! There are two 18-hole courses that are both a lot of fun to play. Most people prefer the north course, though, because it offers up some stunning lake views. The course is always in pretty good shape, and the greens are as challenging and well-maintained as others I've seen at more expensive courses. One thing I love about Hefner and the other public OKC courses is that they all post their full pricing online in a transparent way. I feel like you go to some courses and you are at the mercy of the person working the pro shop as to what they actually end up charging you. Not the case for Hefner, Earlywine, Lincoln Park, and Trosper. They also post all of the usual sunset, senior, twilight etc. rates so you can easily take advantage of discounts. The practice facilities are quite thorough - a reasonably-priced driving range, a chipping green, and two massive putting greens. A great place to go if you don't have time for a full round but just want to hit a bucket of balls. P.S. be sure to try the food here. I've had breakfast and lunch here a couple times and I've been blown away every time. Simple, but very well done and tasty.

Very solid course. I played the south course and really enjoyed it. Had some winter die off in the fairways but the greens were on point! Pro shop was solid and super friendly. About 50 bucks once it was all said and done. Worth it in my opinion. I will be back soon.

Some of the best public practice facilities anywhere. Multiple short game pitching areas, two large putting greens, a good Par 3 course with multiple tee boxes. Courses: Newer North layout has a modern layout, with the older south course a more traditional feel, bigger tree lines fairways, etc.

Great facility for all levels of golfers. I took several private lessons from John Folsom, a PGA class A pro. He really helped my swing, focusing on a few basic changes. Plus, he's just a great guy to take lessons from. I highly recommend him. You can't go wrong playing here.

God, how I love this place. There's something incredibly wholesome about a low-key Sunday brunch at a public golf course. love to gaze over the fairways at Lake Hefner while dining on eggs Norwegian or Benedict. The menu is extremely tasty and well-priced. Is it fancy? No, it's a public golf course. But the combination of flavor, vibe and price makes it an awesome place for Sunday brunch.

Played last week. For January, the course was in excellent shape, and the greens still, well, green. Very well kept course. It is a very challenging course for someone of my skill level (novice). Best public course in OKC. I just wish I was able to play in spring/ summer to experience the full beauty this course has to offer.

I play here every weekend - weather permitting. It's a throwback to a different time - much like the game of golf. I really enjoy the fact they have some of the best public practice facilities and 2 courses 86 best round ever - probably low -mid 90's average (score)

The course was in good condition. South course is a great place for anyone who has a hard time finding fairways. Club house not very friendly or inviting for that matter. Walked around for 15 mins without so much as a welcome or if I needed help, not usually so picky but 5 people behind the counter and I was the only customer in the shop. Overall good experience and would play again. Large driving range all grass as an added bonus.

Just went there to hit some balls at the range and it was my 1st time at their range. I was quite impressed as it was a very large area about double what most ranges already normal golf course. They also had 3 separate chipping greens and a large putting green. I went today which was a warm Sunny Sunday after the masters and the place was absolutely packed.

Really great course as far as the grounds work is concerned. Not very challenging on the north course but nevertheless a really nice municipal golf course. The pace of play was poor because we were a couple playing behind (4) walking golfers who refused to let us play through but I gave it 5 stars because of the ground work (ie: Fairways, bunkers and greens were in great condition)

The clubhouse has the largest selection of merchandise and the right prices of any clubhouse public or private in the city. The restaurant is a hidden gem and is always great. The two courses are challenging and offer something for all skill levels. Their junior/beginner golf clinics are put together very well. Hefner is "Still the Best"!

Played south course, first time in 2017. Greens keeper is doing the job right! Course is in excellent shape. Employees are all friendly. Glad I played here. Btw, women's tees ( ALL tee boxes) are the nicest I've seen on any course I've played in OK this year. Keep it up Hefner!

We had an absolutely wonderful day the course was perfect we weren't so much. Add a great time on a great course, then have a great lunch in their clubhouse. All for under $75. Two great 18 hole golf courses.

Delayed by lightning but once clear we had a great day. In spite of heavy rains the night before, the course was in very good condition. Only drawback was "cart path only" which was the proper call on their part. Unfortunately we observed a few players who rode the fairways anyway. Someone should teach them golf etiquette.

I like this course, especially the north. Shooting a 41 37 / 78 doesn't hurt. Friendly professional workers inside and on the course. It was packed and took 4 1/2 hours but it was no ones fault it was just slow.

Would be a 5 star review if I was just reviewing the golf experience. The clubhouse experience left a sour taste in my mouth. I had booked a tee time 5 days in advance to golf the Saturday of Memorial Weekend. I booked it for 3 golfers on the phone and it was repeated back to me for 3 golfers. But when we went in on Saturday it was discovered they had only put 2 golfers on the system. The gentleman behind the counter handled the misunderstanding in a very unprofessional manner, and rather than apologizing for the mix up, tried to inform me of how stupid it was for me to try to plug another golfer in on that busy of a weekend without calling ahead (even though we booked for 3 in the first place). It was settled and taken care of in the end, but there's at least one staff member at Lake Hefner Golf Club who has some learning to do in the customer service area.

$50 for a 12 pack of generic beer. 50$. The green fee to play 18 in a cart is less than a 12 pack. Legend has it they have a 30 rack in the back. It was for Jeff Bezos but after his divorce he couldn't afford it. It just sits there now

One of the best munis in OKC. North course is wider and easier than the South. The North is more scenic and the back 9 is one of the best of any OKC muni. The tee boxes are the best in OKC that's for sure. Greens are in decent shape fairways are usually well maintained and the range is excellent as well as the practice areas. I always stop in the pro shop for good deals and to see their used club selection. Some of the friendliest staff in the area and excellent food. Be sure to try the cheese grits!

Lake Hefner offers two 18 hole courses, a well stocked Pro-Shop and a decent 19th hole. The golf courses are relatively open but do provide enough difficulty to challend most mid-handicap players. The grounds are well maintained and the greens are normally in decent conditiin. Green fees are reasonable for a public course. Make an early Tee Time in the summer months to avoid the heat

I am from Taiwan and every time I go to OKLAHOMA I play at this course, it is a well managed course, the condition of the greens is like a new course, I enjoy playing here. The practice greens are also well protected. The staff are very kind and have a homey feel for a Taiwanese who doesn't speak English well.

It is good to rent clubs that are inexpensive (20$) and rent for 35$ (Full set including Title TS driver, AP3 irons, etc.) Overall, it is in good condition.
