Reviews of Kickingbird Golf Club
It's looking good!!! Caribbean sand, heated Trackman bays, and the range looks different. The clubhouse is massive.
It'll never be as big or as impressive as Lincoln West IMO, but it's a fun course. Gets busy at times, and sometimes the greens have too many ball marks, so I would avoid during peak hours. Short and tight, with lots of oak lining narrow fairways. Greens are relatively slow and forgiving. The new clubhouse will help it continue to be a great municipal course.
On half of the holes there was someone mowing on the fairways or watering the greens while we were playing on the holes. Several holes we were waiting on them. They would drive by right during your swing. Staff inside were nice but they need to train their outside staff. Course is golfer friendly. Would be 5 stars if it wasn't for the outside staff.
An excellent municipal (City of Edmond) golf course. Friendly staff and a clean, Covid-safe clubhouse. Tee times are well managed and the course marshals are friendly and helpful. For the quality of the course (layout, greens, fairways and tee boxes) The green fees are very reasonable, especially with junior or senior discounts.
I grew up on this course. It's fun and challenging. Maintenance keeps the course in great condition. People in the pro shop are great. It's one of the best public courses you can play in Oklahoma. It does however get very busy at times with the course being in central Edmond.
I played in a Spark golf league here yesterday and was impressed with the warmth of the staff. They all helped me get right to where I needed to go and were very kind to my disabled friend. We had a blast and the best part was we even rose on the leaderboard, I credit that to the good spirits they put me in. If you are looking to become a member of any courses I recommend Kicking bird especially after this massive remodel coming up!
It was a first time for me be on the golf course, I had no idea how everything run. The person who helped me on the phone was very nice to explain the rates, dress code, and many others. I didn’t play, but my parents did. I thought that the golf cart should be on the pavement, so I was careful to stay on it. A gentleman came with a cart to explain that we could drive the cart on the course as long as we won’t get on the greens, where the holes are. Sorry, you can yell that I don’t know anything about golfing! Anyway, people there were all so kind and treated wry warmly. Even other players there were very nice. I spent all night looking for the best place for my parents to play golf, but I am so glad that I trusted the review and chose Kinckingbird!!! My parents’ first experience couldn’t have been any better!!!!!!
Very nice public course. Well maintained, and challenging. Has driving range and place to eat. Pro shop does maintenance on your equipment. Turn around time was excellent for new handle... literally overnight.
My family frequents this course for several reasons.
1. The staff are so friendly.
2. Each teaching pro is approachable, knowledgeable & willing to contribute to one’s game.
3. The course is in GREAT SHAPE!
4. The grill offers a good variety. Food Quality is good as well.
5. One of the pros offers Track Man, a tool designed to give greater understanding of the flight of the ball..
6. Fitting sessions with club manufacturers are great! Brian & Jeff worked with my son in a recent Titleist fitting. What a great experience!
To sum it up, Brian & his staff are progressive, friendly & willing to help raise the level of your game. Most times you are greeted with a smile & the realization you are recognized & appreciated. All other amenities being equal...
Brian & his staff are why we chose Kickingbird. It’s been a really good choice.
For the price and quality its a value. My girl was taking lessons from the YMCA and ended up here for last 2 sessions. Got to go out on the course and check out a few holes. Staff is friendly and now enjoying some group private lessons as well. Will be returning
Course was in very good condition. Nice greens and fairways still had sufficient grass. First time playing here and I believe i will return.
Well I played today and was shocked by the price ! $52. They don’t mow the rough, the greens are in terrible shape , they said the reason they went up was because of new carts , so I said that’s great ! They must have GPS !! But no they don’t !! They say they are the highest rated course in Edmond , well silverhorn and coffee creek are closed so there the only public course in Edmond ! Give me a break !! DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY THEY HAVE LIMITED RESOURCES AND EMPLOYEES , BUT THEY WANT YOU MAKE UP FOR IT 👎🏻
PROS:
- Arguably the best public golf course in Central Oklahoma!
- Trees outline every hole yet no rough goes unattended for long allowing you to find your golf ball regardless of its' disobedience.
- The course maintenance is beautifully orchestrated by (what I would describe as a "master of his trade")
- Everyone in the pro-shop feel so much like family I want to have them over for Thanksgiving Dinner in lieu of my real family!
- The restaurant serves comfort food very comfortably!
- High quality lighting on the driving range allows for late night practice!
- Range Balls are constantly culled by experienced professionals!
CONS:
- The 2 token/key operated range ball vending machines operate correctly an estimated 80%
- The water jugs (which are spaced nicely throughout the course) are picked up about an hour before golfers are done.
Great golf experience at the Bird! The greens were excellent condition and the pro-shop staff was incredibly friendly. I will definitely be back!!
Awesome golf course with the best value in green fees around. I play the course at least once a month. Consistent service and good grass
Very well kept. Very good pace of play. Good challenge of play. Nice staff.
Nice golf course one of my favorites. Not too challenging for the average golfer like me. Usually a pleasant speed of play but dies get backed up in the weekends.
Good golf course. LOUSY people playing there though. The staff isn't much better. The front desk people are a bit crass. They give the impression of "putting up" with the public.
I won't be going back and we will NOT be holding anymore company scrambles there.
The head good pro, Brian, went above and beyond helping a family member get fitted for a set of clubs on their recent demo days. Answered all questions, even called a few days later to confirm the order of the club's. Really gave peace of mind, especially since we were visiting from out of state. Even getting them shipped to our door.
PGA Junior League is an awesome start for kids getting into golf. More team oriented, scramble best ball format and only 9 holes, perfect for 8+ kids.
Always a good time. Cart girls are top notch. They keep me coming back. Maintenance stays out of the way. Lovely
The fairways were awesome and greens were in good shape. This is the nicest city course in OKC area.
This is where I learned how to play golf. It is a great course with some forgiveness. The greens are true and service is exceptional. If you have time stop in for lunch as well.
Good place to golf, nice club house and helpful staff. Enjoyable course and nice pace of play. Definitely recommend. Open to the public.
I like Kickingbird, it can get busy at times but what good course doesn't. I like it because it's wide open which is good for a hacker like me but still challenging for people who are good golfers.
Course running great
Greens were rolling, there were spots, but one of the top courses in the metro
It's a good course. Was raining so we only played 3 holes.
Great golf course really nice fairways and greens compared to other public courses. Be patient very busy on weekends
Man an awesome place to go and use the drive range. Cheap and taken care of very well. Go there 3 times a week and every chance extra I can go
Well maintained course in really good shape. Friendly staff and well appointed clubhouse.
Well taken care of course. Better than most around here at keeping it alive during the entire year. Green fees are expensive though.
Great course, greens are rolling good and the food is still has excellent breakfast and burgers.
Very courteous staff. Tight fairways, blind shots, and very fast greens. Not a course for a duffer.
Only used very nice driving range - getting back to Golf after being away from game.
Beautiful course and great staff to assist you with getting started on the course..
Im not a golfer, but I work for the city and this is one of our departments. The staff is very passionate about their clientele and their restaurant serves decent food
Always a great time. Learning this course will get me 1st in due time!
Great staff, course in FANTASTIC SHAPE, the greens were PGA guality.
It was a nice course I just could not putt
Great course, very well maintained and responsibly priced!
Great course to play! Fair price and good pace of play!
The course was in great shape and play was fairly fast.
Overall nice facility however the golf is a little overpriced for a city course.
Didn't play a round just came to the driving range.
Great staff got right on the course to play.
Greens need work
One of very few courses with marshals. Great course and friendly staff
Awesome club. As a UCO student feels like back to home.
Better than it was last time I played & it was pretty good last time ...👍 …
They need to mow there rough one of the foursome I was playing with lost 4 balls in the rough after just playing 5 holes then we got rained out today
Beautiful traditional golf course in great shape
Without a doubt the best public course in the OKC Metro
Went there to hit a few balls at the driving range. Really cheap place to go hit.
Fairways are cut a little short greens are not that undulated
Great golfing experience and professional staff.
Friendly staff. The course is in great condition.
Course is over priced but the driving range is fair.
Excellent course! Best shape ever.
Pricy but good round of golf also busy
Super fun course to play!
Rude marshal's, overpriced course, not in very good shape
Great driving range for an affordable price.
