Reviews of Neshanic Valley Golf Course
Our dream wedding!
We had our wedding at Neshanic Valley Golf Course (The Valley At Neshanic) on 8.21.22 with the Valley Catering (Delicious Heights). It was absolutely a dream! The Catering Manager, Julia, & our Maitre d, Mercedes, were amazing to work with. Julia was extremely responsive and readily available via email. She worked with us for months and was so accommodating. Julia has the coolest personality and she was just as thrilled as we were to include our golden retriever at our wedding. Mercedes was amazing at coordinating the day of the wedding and did everything from helping guests and vendors to sewing a button that fell off my tuxedo.
The location on the golf course was gorgeous and we especially fell in love with the outdoor ceremony space. They have a beautiful gazebo with amazing green hills and mountain views. During cocktail hour, guests could not stop talking about the amazing view from the wrap-around patio. Food was plentiful and was constantly being refilled during cocktail hour. The space was beautiful and intimate for our wedding of 95 people. I HIGHLY recommend Neshanic Valley Golf course for your event. We had our DREAM wedding and get excited every time we think about our special day. Thank you Julia & Mercedes!
Such a great venue for a wedding!
So diverse with a lot of beautiful spots for bride and groom portraits.
Cannot wait to shoot my next wedding at Neshanic!
We had a Surprise birthday celebration at Neshanic Valley Golf Course with the Valley Catering (Delicious Heights).what a great venue! The room is beautiful and set up was perfect! The food was delicious and abundant. The bartender and servers were professional and friendly. Our Maitre d, Mercedes Lopez, was the absolute best- friendly, and attentive as she orchestrated all that needed to be done to experience a perfect celebration. Thank-you!
one of the best public courses around, they have a practice 9 hole course for all levels. Driving range, course is always in great shape. food is decent. if you want to go to a public course and get your moneys worth this is the place
We are thinking of hosting a graduation party here. This would be an ideal venue for such an event. We were thrilled with the new decor of the place and love the attention to detail that they exhibited. The staff was extremely attentive to our needs and really aim to ensure that not only our needs were met, but the needs of the graduate. This would be a fantastic venue on any occasion and we are looking forward to all that it has to offer.
Great day of golf in November! Some maintenance work in progress with bunkers and aerated fairways on Lake but still solid! Neshanic never disappoints. Checkout some cool shots here.
i seriously cannot believe this is a public course for this amount. hidden gem. looks like we are in gods country when you see the views. only thing missing is a good bar life. (no liquor license yet) 10th hole i was getting thirsty. if you are a round a 90-100 golfer, go for the Blues and challenge yourself.
The course is very well maintained. The pace of play was a little on the slow side. It was quite hot, so I imagine that had something to do with it. I do think they could use a ranger to motivate pace of play. At least one group was playing to a much slower rate seemingly than everyone else. That of course can be cumbersome to the groups behind them. The one other thing is they need to put water out for the golfers, it was quite hot and the beverage cart is not sufficient. Having said all that, the staff are very friendly, i.e starter, pro shop, beverage cart person etc
Very playable golf course. Greens are large and readable. Rough is penalizing, so stay out of there.
Course is in excellent condition. It definitely isn’t forgiving if you miss the fairway, but is a fun challenge. Definitely the best county course in Somerset County, and the cost of the round reflects that. The pace can be a bit slow, but it’s worth playing.
Course was in great shape. Snack bar was not open. Seemed that the pro shop was not very well stocked.
Such a beautiful area and had so much fun playing. I wish they did have more Porter potties on the course though.
Place is in phenomenal shape. Tee boxes, fairways, greens, all spectacular. First tee time of the day at 7 am and played in just over three hours. Wish I lived in Somerset County.
Great course! And nice bar afterwards.
For a public course. The golf course is exceptional. However, they do not give any deference for aerating greens. The staff is at best less than helpful. Never saw a Ranger or a refreshment cart.
We had a very nice 60° thanksgiving round at my old fave, Neshanic Valley. Reasonable greens fees, beautiful clubhouse and a well groomed course considering the time of year. Def worth an hour+ drive!
Top shelf facility - from driving range to excellent conditions to eminently fair course. Hard to get in trouble here with generous fairways and few trees. Some water on the Lake nine - Meadow nine is right in front of you. Didn't play the third nine. Looking forward to going back for more - great facility all around.
Awesome layout,Was a little tuff putting air rated greens,Bar was a disappointment
Beautiful
Really nice golf course to play. Rates are not bad for non residents and cart is included
Really well kept course and fun. Best public course I've personally ever been to. Clubhouse could use some work though and not much of a store otherwise it would be a 5 star course for me.
Always a treat to play here as each of the 27 championship holes offers superb conditions and unique layouts. One of the best courses in Central jersey. The issues are the price which tops out at $70 for weekend peak and getting a tee time. If you don't have an in county membership it can be difficult. The Staff are usually helpful and courteous. Sometimes the Rangers will push you for faster on the weekends as the par 3 holes will back up. Gets beat up a bit by August so best to play earlier in the season.
What a beautiful twisted test of your golfing abilities.. Played this past weekend and I love the challenge that the greens at Neshanic Valley offered.. Ridge course was tough, course management is needed to score well here. Course was in excellent shape and weather was beautiful.. I would go as far as saying this is the best public course in NJ that I have played.. I can’t wait to get back out there..
Truly a gem. Great 27 championship holes with a practice facility unmatched by anything around. You'd never know this is a public course, that's how nice it is. Wish the carts had GPS, but other than that, nothing bad to say about our experience.
Impressive track, particularly for a public course. Up there in my mind with other courses such as Ballyowen and Hudson Hills.
Challenging course that's in great condition all over. Grass practice range located next to the parking lot is fantastic as well.
I definitely will return to play.
My friend and I drove an hour and 40 mins to play Neshanic Valley on Friday 08/21/20. I wish I was still there playing. We played Ridge and Meadows. Fantastic place. I just want to give a big shout out to the starter (sorry I didn't get his name). This place was packed on a Friday and after we played 18 we were hoping to play 9 more. He was more than accommodating. It didn't happen but he acted like he let us down. He totally didn't. We will be back because the course is fantastic and challenging, the staff is great. The fairways, greens and layout is impressing. Thanks Neshanic we will be back.
Great course with challenging layout. Usually play in the afternoon, and with 27 holes available, it never feels crowded and pace of play is really good. The starters do a good job of spreading out groups too, so that helps. A little pricey, but the twilight rates are more palatable. Definitely worth it though. The meadow 9th hole is a beautiful closing hole.
Played here quite a bit this Summer so far and let me tell you it's a hidden gem!!! Worth the drive if you are far...or not! 3 beautiful 9 hole courses! The Meadow is a bit tricky, but still a lot of fun!
Their learning center is a great addition also - 9 hole course
Extremely well conditioned, tee through greens! Clear Scottish links feel including high wispy grass beyond initial rough. Pay attention to subtle slopes in fairways that can run your ball to either side. Large well conditioned firm greens. Best practice facility in NJ. . Large 2 ended range, short game area, practice holes and executive course. Slightly pricey for a public course but worth it!
The more I play here the more I like it. Of the three nines, I like Ridge the best, with Meadow and Lake about even. Ridge's par 5 fifth hole is most memorable. It is unique and challenging. Lake and Meadow feature some fun, drivable par 4s. Five sets of tees make the course as playable or difficult as you like. It's over 7000 yards from the back tees, but with generous fairways it doesn't feel unfair. Conditions are usually very good here with lush fairways and high rough in the summer. Greens are subtle and there are some tricky ones, but they usually roll true and fast. I prefer walking and it can be walked, but it's not easy, you will be tired after walking 18 here.
This is a very good event venue. As a videographer I can tell you that you drive right up and the entrance is simple they have an elevator for the second floor. There are lots of power outlets. The staff there is reasonably confident and quite available. The views from upstairs of the sunset are absolutely spectacular. The floor bounces a little bit when people are jumping up and down but it's a sturdy building and everything is functional and quite new.
Beautiful and challenging golf course 😍 …
My new favorite course. Always challenging but fair. Great condition and professional staff. Love the variety of 27 holes. Highly recommended!
Great golf course. Pristine condition from Tee Box to Green. Challenging but playable for all levels of player. We play over 60 different courses during the season and this is one of the best
I used the practice facility here for a day because a publication called them fantastic. I was sadly disappointed. They do have a huge practice putting green which is great but on the slow side. The chipping/bunker area looks really nice, but they were charging $35 to use it for the day. Absurd. I called about the prices for buckets and whether or not they were hitting off grass. The guy on the phone was right about the prices, but when I showed up of course it was a mat day. At least he got me in the door. The mats were very nice. They had tight lies and a softer, 1st cut of rough type lie. The worst thing about this place were the golf balls. Of the 60 I hit, maybe 10 seemed to have enough dimples to stay in the air. A dozen or so looked outright spherical. Definitely not worth the price even if the mats were nice or they were hitting off grass that day. Very disappointed. The executive 9 hole course looked like it was in great shape.
One of the best public courses in the state. Grass driving range. 3 9 hole tracks and an affordable replay rate of $30.
What do I have to say
Top Public course in country and it's a County course
Grass driving range
Links course
Academy short course, great for beginners and kids and cheap.
Better than alot of private clubs
Beautiful 27 hole championship course. Rewards a straight shooter, the rough is very thick
Beautiful place. Great course, great range, and great people. From tee box to green in great condition and the views are really nice as well. Doing yourself a disservice by not playing here at least once a month.
One of the nicest public courses I've ever seen. The staff is always friendly and the course is always in top shape. They also have the Academy Course, which is a nice nine hole adventure if you're in a time crunch.
My second time there in May.
Great scenic track. Great conditions.
From my first phone call about a tee time to office check in to Starter to the course....all do it well. Conditions warrant you to go put the peg in the ground soon.
Beautiful golf course. Tee boxes and fairways in great shape. Greens rolling alittle slow but true. I would recommend this course. The only thing I have to say is bring alot of water since they have none on the course for you unless you want to buy it. Saw the cart girl once the whole round on the 16th hole.
As a public golfing facility, Neshanic Valley offers tremendous values and unforgettable playing experiences ( frustrations also included for free).
The 27 holes are arranged into 3 18-hole configurations, so called Meadow, Ridge, and Lake in increasing playing difficulty. All 3 configurations are said to be link style, with open fairways and large greens (does not mean easy ones), and accessible to all player levels based on tee placement. They're must-play courses in the Somerset area.
Hit them straight.
Neshanic Valley Golf Course, rated 4-1/2 stars, is a championship layout that ranks with some of the best in New Jersey. This open links-style course provides a wonderful test for your all-round game, with many attractive, skilfully crafted and challenging holes to enjoy. A must play if you are in the area.
This is an exceptional golf course. Especially for a public course. Always a treat
Fun times especially with the hot air balloon’s in the background.
This is a great public golf course. Great layout with plenty of difficulty for more experienced players. Presents a playable challenge that is well maintained by the grounds crew.
Beautiful course. Staff was very helpful. Will be back again.
Great value, nice course. This public course rivals most of the private courses I have played. The course provides a challenge for players of all levels. Very scenic and we'll maintained.
Surprised we were in foursomes today; pace was fast, greens were sluggish but course is in overall good shape. Take your own H20 as reminder, no cart service nor anything open inside. Check in with starter no earlier than 10 mins before your tee time
Terrific public course. In great condition, but I can't figure out why people, who process to like playing golf refuse to repair ball marks and take bonkers. These jerks should not be on a golf course.
One of my old time happy places. It's a newer style design golf course which I like very much. What they lack in trees they make up an undulation and bunkers. A true pleasure to play
Awesome facility, a lot of golf to be played on this challenging course. NVG has 2 , 18 hole courses and a short 9 practice course. The best country course I ever played.
Simply the best public course I've played. Challenging but with 5 sets of tees you can play what suits you. Very senic, great staff. Dries out quickly after rain.
Great day! Early out very good condition fairway and greens. Today Meadow to lake... few tee boxes on the par 3s need some refurbishment lake side.
Here for an outing, weather was against us but the staff was top notch. Great time and the course was in good shape with 2 days of rain. All said, great time, great staff, good conditions and food was good as well.
One of the better public courses in NJ. Clean, not busy during the week, and a nice driving range. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Great and spacious practice facilities! Cannot believe this is a public facility
Best of the Somerset County golf courses. Always in great condition and staff treats players like private country club members.
Nice looking and challenging course, one of my favorite NJ public golf courses. Their practice facility is great too.
For public tracks, this is a pretty good facility with three 9-hole tracks that offer some, but not much variation from the others. Usually very crowded, but the pace of play has been good when I've been there.
Great course. Provides plenty of challenge for any golfer it there. Staff is great and the practice facility is great.
Beautiful golf course. It would have had 5 star rating if the pro shop had been more welcoming!
Went there for July 4th. From the 2nd story balcony you could see at least 6 different fireworks shows. Even as far out as the Macy's display on the Hudson. It was fantastic!!!
Went there for a wedding reception. Nice place, with attractive views of the golf course.
Went by to see if they would be interested in having a meet & greet for doing "A Breakfast w/Santa"! The event coordinator was not on the grounds told to email them at a later time!
Great well maintained course. Also the learning center and lessons really helped, I'm almost a golfer🤣. …
Beautiful course, played the Ridge and Meadow Courses and I assume the Lake Course is also wonderful.
Very well kept for a public course. Never have pace of play issues.
Great public course. Nice layout and great staff.
Great Course....No Leaves....90° degree rule...fast greens...my only complaint is $6.00 for a small handful of range balls is ridiculous!
Great course, always in great shape.
The gc,was in great cond.great staff Excelent place to enjoy a round of golf.
Very nice place. Beautiful views of the gold course. We had buffet food service and the dishes were very good.
Beautiful course, great set-up but they need a better bar/restaurant
Great course. Always well maintained links style golf course.
Always great. 3:30 18 holes on July 4th. Can't beat that.
Outstanding course. Great layout and in superb condition.
Always a great time course in great shape staff always smiling and willing to help just a great day all around
Allways good! Course conditions never disappoint. Better than most private clubs
Great golf facility. Wish they would let me book more than 3 days in advance
This is one of my favorite golf course. Very disappointed about green speed this time.
Very scenic golf course
I loved it, but the guy at the shop desk was mean. he needs to be educated with customer relationship stuff.
Fun 9 hole executive course. Beautiful course, very well kept.
Awesome 😎 …
Great facility........always in fantastic shape. The practice area is world class.
Nice facilities but they aerated very late in the season and greens are bumpy and slow
Best county course in Somerset
great combination of links/traditional layouts; service-friendly, especially for a county run operation.
Good golf course but my score is bad...
One of the best public courses you can play in NJ.
Here for a wedding, very nice!
Beautiful course in perfect condition. Nice, helpful staff.
The course is always in good shape. Play moved throughout the round.
