Reviews of Bethpage Black Course
Luis Diaz
Challenging course, beautiful landscaping and rich history make this golf course a must visit. From the warning sign to the view of the clubhouse from the 18th tee box every part of this round was memorable. This course is a must play if you consider yourself a golfer and find yourself on Long Island.
Jason Brown
Early tee time as a walk-in, 7:50a, they save the first 100 tee times for walk-ins. Black was in pristine condition for late April. Was great to play on a major track. Staff was friendly and the round was great.
Nik Bando
Best $70 I’ve ever spent. Don’t bother trying to book online… you gotta walk-up. There are a bunch of open times they hold for locals. Just bring a laptop, work remote in the morning, while you wait for your random time slot to play Black. That’s my tip
Daniel Boguszewicz
This is a very long golf course and on such a huge area of land Id expect it to be more imaginative. I played of 16 here and bogeyed most of the holes, however be prepared for long approaches even after 240m drives - I enjoyed it very much. Rough is brutal. Greens are hands down the best Ive ever seen in my life, fast as f, but also very hard.
Pro shop service or restaurant stands out in negative sense. E.g. I was by accident charged for a ball sleeve, guy couldnt revert it and only returned part of the money which I figured out later - no apologies from him neither. Also prices for foreigners are significantly greater which is just not fair.
If you do not carry it 200m, you might have trouble reaching fairway but still its worth it to have a sense of what pros are dealing with. Just drop the ball and carry on.
I rented clubs for 60bucks - they were great.
Also! Take into consideration that they sell tee times online at hours where there is not a slightest chance to play whole 18, yet you can not play just 9.
Joe Cajigal
First time playing in over 5 years. Im very pleased yellow course. Good speed play and the fairway and greens were well maintained.
Kevin
This might be my favorite course i've played. if i lived around here i'd only play here. Good price, well worth it from the back tees. don't bother with the range though the balls are the worst i've ever seen, cracked/waterlogged it's a total joke. Was easy to walk on as a single, very hard to to book a time online. Also the food inside was quick and good.
Brian Lyman
Hard course, but you know that. Greens were softer than advertised, but each shot demands attention. The rough is lush and difficult because the ball doesn't go all the way to the ground and is often half an inch or more from the ground. This makes hitting recovery shots demanding and it is easy to hit the ball off the top of the face, leaving it short, regularly. Still highly recommend the track. The routing is great and you should appreciate the challenge.

I have played this course once a year for the last 7 years in early November. When I played there yesterday I was surprised that the conditions were not up to their usual high standards. It is a given that the range at the facility is not the best, but yesterday they ran out of golf balls and a group of about 15-20 people had to stand around for about 20 minutes to wait for the balls to be brought up from the range. Luckily I was there early enough that I had time to wait. The course needed a little TLC. Typically I see multiple groups of workers tending to the course. Yesterday I saw one guy mowing on #4. The traps looked like they hadn't been raked in days and the greens had multiple ball marks that needed fixing. I know this course on a bad day is far better than most courses on a good day but for the 2hr drive and the money I payed I expected what I had experienced in the past.
Min Soo Kim
Beautiful and huge golf course tucked away in Long Island. Not too far from NYC so folks from there can also enjoy. Plenty of parking which can be found at the parking lot. Trying to book time can be a challenge with their online booking system.
Max Ross
Played there for the 4th time last week and it just reminded me that this is clearly one of the best golf courses in the world. Perfect conditioning, especially for a public course. Tough walk and takes a while to play, but it’s worth it
Erik Anderson
Very well maintained tee to green. Layout has a definite muni feel to it, nothing spectacular. Fairways are very thin so driving accuracy is a premium. One foot off the fairway or green and you're in the densest rough you've ever seen.
Albert Ortiz
This course is as always in pristine shape, rough and fescue is short but healthy to start the season but in about 6 weeks it'll be just what we know it to be and thats THICK!!! Its rightfully so "the people's country club" if incould ay it everyday i would. Take a caddie if you want to enjoy the PRO walk feel, carrying is fine just lighten your bag but under no circumstances take a pull cart, the walk with a pull cart is is way tougher then carrying!!! the walk will be great just make make sure you enjoy the day and the course!!!
Michael Tardif
Went for the PGA Championship. Nice grounds with great service. After walking the course as a spectator I’ll try one of the other courses before hitting the Black. Very hilly and long. The rough is pretty high but lots of room between holes so it doesn’t look like too much trouble with an errant T-shot.
Daniel Dunnigan
Lives up to the reputation. Have been lucky enough to play many of the worlds greatest golf courses and think this holds its own against the best in the game.
Be warned however, the walk may be as difficult as the golf course itself.
Conditions are always perfect. One tip, play less break than you think you need. The greens are really flat.
Micah Milligan
Was here for the 2019 PGA Championship. I would say that this course I would love to play. Next time I am in the area I am going to try and play this. The greens looked like they were in perfect shape. You could eat off the fairways they were cut so perfectly. Reminds me of the courses I played in state championships. Walking the course wasn’t to bad. Yes it can be a little hilly on some holes but really wasn’t that bad. The facilities were amazing. I really enjoyed everything about this course and the PGA tour event that was held that day. Was an amazing experience.
Michael Russo
Got to the parking lot at 5 am to lock in a 11:00 am tee time. Be prepared for a long round (5 hrs). The course and experience in itself was totally worth it. Being able to play with the bleachers and club tents in place for the PGA championship was an awesome experience. It's a long day but you can't be $65 for a professional level course!

Bethpage Black is among every American golfers favorite courses. But the Tillinghast Red Course is a wonderful, less arduous track, and is slightly more accessible.
The Bethpage Black fairways are narrow and run lightening quick. The local Long Islanders boast strong, and straight long driving golfers of all ages and nationalities. They are to a person and without fail, welcoming golfers.
Walk up tee times for singles ( playing without telephonic or online reservations) to the Black course is possible , but the online booking service is top notch and removes the mystery of whether you can complete a full round.
Bethpage Black is a walk only course, and that walking experience allows one to enjoy the beauty of the amazing Bethpage State Park landscape. It also permits you to breathe between shots on this long and demanding track.
Part of the joy of traveling to Bethpage is getting there
The convenience of the Long Island R. R. and shouldering one’s clubs through Grand Central station is worthy of the envious stares of Wall Street types who move with glazed looks in the opposite direction.
Getting there from Manhattan:
The L. I. R. R. (Hicksville Line) from Grand Central Station makes the trip from 76th & Lexington on Manhattan’s upper eastside to Farmingdale (Bethpage) in well under two hours.
Bethpage Pro shop:
The fall season means less selection (all the PGA merchandise had been bought by summer patrons) but decent sales items.
The Bethpage retail golf shop is splendiferous, especially in the run up to the 2019 PGA and the raucously anticipated 2024 Ryder Cup Championship .
Playing tips:
Hit the ball high to hold on to narrow dime sized greens.
Use the toe of your putter to acclimate to the speed of the world class greens.
Play happy golf!
Use brightly colored balls to aide in identification amidst the splendid fall foliage.
Despite the mammoth carries, swing within yourself, as the locals do.
Stop by the grill and pro shop, you never know who you will meet. (Sightings included - esteemed
Lee Elder, the Straw - Darryl Strawberry, Len Barney, and Broadway Joe Namath
Charles Cordova
If you understand this course will bore you a new orifice and you need to drive the ball at least 220 in the air off the tee, you will have the most amazing golf experience available to the public golfer
Cameron Crabtree
Playing this course was such an awesome experience, and it was on the top of my bucket list for the United States. But, I can tell you I have no interest to play again, it’s just soooo hard. I would definitely recommend playing it, because you truly cannot appreciate it until you play it. Places like Pinehurst and the Ocean Course don’t even slightly compare in difficultly in comparison to the Black course!
Zthomps
I've played here twice, the last time several years ago. It is the most well designed course I've ever played. The amount of shots and the skill level required is excellent; I would think every single-digit handicapper would thoroughly enjoy the test. Nearly every hole is unique in terms of appearance (except for maybe holes 10-12). And I love the atmosphere of New York municipal golf; the clubhouse is charming and the people are, haha, interesting.
P.S. - Although I think this experience nearly perfect, I will offer up a few criticisms for the sake of objectivity. Yes, play is typically slow because it's walking only (which I love) and people who shouldn't play it do. The reservation system is a little archaic but I find it kind of adds to the experience. And the greens, while very well conditioned, are fairly flat; but trust me, everything you're confronted with before the greens is plenty challenging enough.
Alan Melgarejo
Championship level course really only for the low handicap player but not restricted to anyone so it's a must play for any serious golfer and fan. As gorgeous live as in any pictures you may come across online.
Derrick Dawkins
Very nice layout, and the fairways in great shape. Pace of play 4 hours round. The greens are in good shape. Starter very nice guys. Would definitely play the green course again.
Jason L. Thompson
As good (and hard) as it gets for public golf in the USA. Even the non-resident rate is a good value. I'm not sure I'd be up to play it every day but it's a fantastic course and worth the 4:30am wake up call to play it.
Joseph Devivo
Got lucky last week and found 2 spots at 3:20. It was my first time playing the Black, I have played all the others at Bethpage. The Black is by far the best course there and in the top 3 places I have ever played. Great experience I will definitely be back for more.
Andy Rumph
Great experience seeing the PGA. The course is beautiful. Hopefully I will play it someday.
Michael Golden
The Black was my home course for 15 years from the early 70s to the mid 80s and is (and was then) a great golf course. I've played the golf course over 300 times and, of course, know it very well. I played it this week for the 1st time in about 20 years and was struck by how much more difficult the course plays now than back then because the fairways have been narrowed and the rough is so thick it's almost impossible to get a ball out of it unless you use a short iron. The White tees, at 6700 yards, are easily the equivalent (in terms of difficulty) as the Blue tees at virtually every other golf course in the world; my recommendation, if you want to have some fun, is play the Orange tees (about 6200 yards), it's still plenty of golf course and gives you the opportunity to hit iron shots to lots of greens. For the record, I am 75 years old with an 8.0 GHIN index and have played many of the world's great golf courses so have a strong base of experience to make this recommendation.

Update 5/11/22
Played today, walked on for a 9:50 tee time. Waited only on a couple holes and never saw the group behind us. Greens are immaculate. Bunkers are a total mess looked like the greens crew didn't rake in the morning or all the morning groups just said f it we're not taking today. Other than the bunkers, the Black did not fail to dominate me yet again.
Bob Slingo
If you're looking for the ultimate golfing experience, you need to play Bethpage Black!
**WARNING**
Bethpage Black is not for "Duffers", no golf carts allowed - caddies available $$.
Noriko Takahashi
Head the warning! Bethpage Black is for highly skilled golfers. Be prepared for a loooong walk. Have more than enough fluids and snacks.
Keep away from the bunkers. Play smart! And TRY to enjoy it!
Frank V
Spread out in great condition very hard course. Great times and the greens fees weren’t that bad
sean scott
Great golf at incredible prices, hard to get tee times but if you book a late afternoon time, get there early and you have a great chance at getting out sooner.
Martin McCrory
The Black is in stellar condition right now. The course is tough but fair. The clubhouse and driving range exist. I drove from Boston to play and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
Tim Gleason
This is one of best run state golf courses in the world...Black is one of ten best courses in country...
David Kim
Great grass. Really nice facility for a muni. It’s definitely a must play if you’re in the area. Good luck with your tee time though. Don’t be late!
Tom Tran
Immaculate shape for a public course. No nonsense golf experience. No carts, no beer girls, no ball washes. Just a long walk and lots of bunkers.

The whole place is amazing.. even though it was 97 degrees it was well worth it.
It was an honor to be in the presence of a Place when tiger woods once played.
The staff was wonderful and very accommodating.
I highly recommend having lunch when you have a Moment to breathe .
It's a.must go.to in your bucket list.
Plus you.dont have to have a.membership to join...major bonus.
Go and. Have some fun for once
Alan Zysberg
Went for the u.s. open. Course was in unbelievable condition. Beers were expensive. Had a great time. Can't wait to play the black course.
ben sokolowski
Been awhile since I last played there but great shape love the green
Dan Falck
Watched the US PGA Championship at Bethpage. Wonderful course and setting.
bob rosen
Went to the driving range to hit a bucket or two. Range looks like a beautiful fairway , over 200 yrs long with over 15 points to swing from . The staff was able to answer all questions I had , hours are currently sunrise to just past 7p.m. Call for more details
From the driving range it's walking distance to 'club house' for lunch/dinner and/or refreshments and it is on the Black course ... The Black is home to many well known competitions and has hosted the Master's . Great setting , tough course (Black) but there are two 'easier' courses to play there .
jaswinder singh
Best golf course to play, extremely hard, very tough course to play.Lot of history is here, many legend players played here. Beautiful course, well maintained. Beautiful as usual
Kent Brown
Played the Red course kicked my tail great shape for late July. Will be back next year to play the infamous Black course.
Michael D
It couldn't possibly be better for public golfers! An amazing grouping of five different course. Have to say that if you are not up to a really really tough golf course do NOT play the Black. It is hard! For a great test try the Red.
Michael Atkinson
Tough track. As it should be for a IS Open venue.. Great public golf course. Long, hilly, many deep, difficult sand traps, juicy rough. Every hole is a challenge. Doubly difficult when it's cold and the wind blows. Bring your A+++ game.
Steve Murphy
Had a fantastic experience. Got in the parking lot at 5:30am to receive my ticket. Got my ticket and was in the first group out on the Black course.
Parker was my caddie. He was fantastic and a joy to walk with. He's a scratch golfer so I came to trust his reads on the green.
Paul Saunders
Difficult!! Beautifully kept and a tough walk. But, totally awesome, just stay in the short stuff or ur going to have a long day!!
Andrew McDaniel II
Dream come true! I channeled my Inner Tiger but didn’t get a par until the first Par 3! It’s A Beautiful course, still have goosebumps after playing it! Definitely A Bucket List Check off! oh! don’t forget 6 plus miles of walking only! But To see the sunset at twilight and a fox run across the fairway on 14 would make any grown man tear up lol
Ryan Clarke
What an Amazing course - Had a great time following the best golfers in the world navigate its difficulties - Stunning
Evan McLaughlin
Great track in 10/10 conditions.
However, EXTREMELY rude and unprofessional behavior by the starter knocks this down to 4 stars. Interaction was so poor I want to give it 1 star but I have too much respect for the course.
I am a NY resident and the starter did not believe my legitimate government issued ID was real. He wanted myself and partner to pay non-resident rates. Also upon arrival, I went to the starters booth and the man ignored me for 60 seconds. He then walked out of the booth and went to leave the first tee area at which point I said to him I have a tee time where can I check in. He then asked "Did you check in at the booth" (the booth I was just standing at) in an annoyed tone. I was speechless at this interaction. Finally, he asked if I was wearing golf shoes (I was) as if I wouldn't be allowed on if I wasn't.
I am an avid golfer and have never been treated as poorly by a starter as I was here.
HAHA
The grass is painted green. And the paint left on my white shoes. I hate the strong petroleum like smell of pesticides.
Noel
I’m not a professional player, but I know when a course is a good one. Bethpage is a beautiful 18-hole course with the greatest atmosphere. The holes are nicely routed and the way they laid out the bunkers is both creative and impressive. The fairways are clean & well maintained, and I really enjoy playing here. A must visit for the golf pros.

Pga course the public can play on ! People come from all over the world daily to see the beauty, and to challenge the course
Worth the trip from where ever
Steeped in history When you shoot a bird it is a big deal
when you get a hole in 1 you can be put on the plaques
Food and drinks are excellent
employees nice helpful
Locker rooms clean beautiful reasonable
Woody Martin
This was the most enjoyable golf experience I have ever had! To be able to play on a pro course for about what I have paid to play on other (non tour) courses was simply amazing. I can't say enough good things about the course conditions and how friendly the staff was as well. This is definitely a bucket-list golf trip and I highly recommend it for anyone who loves the game and classic course design. I have to say though, one MUST be in decent shape to play the Black Course. It is walking only and there are at least 12-13 holes that are very "billy goat" worthy. I know some people have said you have to get a caddy, but with today's GPS apps, I don't think that is necessarily true. We used pull carts, played with a local gent and we had a fantastic day.
Jeffrey O'Neill
Great course. Tough walk but manageable. Greens were perfect. Over all loved it.
Peter Garea
Tough track but always worth it.
Ryan Braswell (Local Realty)
This trip it was my groups own private course. Standing up on 4 green with not a soul in sight was spiritual. Always a good time playing the black even when going the opposite of low.
Suzanne Lenaerts (Where2Golf)
Located just north of Farmingdale, you'll find a world-class layout, the Black course, rated 5-1/2 stars, and four other 18-hole courses, all radiating out from the same large clubhouse. This out-and-back roaming layout now ranks with the best in the United States. Before teeing off on the Black (alongside the opening tee of the Green course), you are minded to read the sign at the starter's hut: "The Black Course is an extremely difficult course, which we recommend only for highly skilled golfers." Never a truer word!
Jack
Way too hard a course for me but it fun. We got caddies and it was well worth it as you need to walk the course and they helped so much
Reza Sarrafieh
Wow. Lived up to the hype and then some. Very impressive course. Greens are easy to putt....once you get on them. If you hit the rough you better keep a KEEN EYE on where it went in, otherwise you will have to concede the ball after 5 minutes of finding nothing. Blind tee shots and what not, but overall AMAZING course and a very unique experience. If I was a resident I would be here weekly.
Thomas Green
If you're really going to take on the black you better be ready. You need to be accurate and long and be ready for an 8 mile trek up and down steep hills. That being said, it's an amazing layout and an amazing opportunity to walk in the footsteps of the games greatest players.
Elevated Memories
What else can you say? It's hosted multiple major championships and the quality is always there. As a NY resident you pay $70-80. Even out of state is less than $150. It's impossible to beat the quality and accessibility anywhere in the country.
Lars Grom
Great experience here. Jack, Dave, and Ruben were great caddies. If you think you are in good shape you aren't in good enough shape to walk Bethpage and swing a club 100 times. Greens were good, fairways were nice. Played in 4.5 hrs AND got off early. Light crowd on the day we picked. It was 100 degrees so it was nice not to wait. Greens are small and you gotta be on your game to get on them. Only weird thing was no towels in locker room after to mop up after you shower. Clubhouse food was good. Plenty of water to drink on course. They let you take as many pictures by the sign as you want. Friendly place. Non-residents have no chance to make a tee time really. You need a New Yorker. Times disappear online in 30 sec. Be fast. Play it, take it in, hit a few good ones and walk in the steps of the big boyz. Its worth it.
Chris Pezzimenti
Daunting layout that is very fair if you play from the fair way. Absolute hell if you don't. If you're unfit and/or not that long of a hitter, avoid the Black and try one of the others. Great conditioning and atmosphere. Some memorable holes. Also, when you can get on this for a 3rdof what you pay at Pebble or Spyglass, for golf nuts it's actually great value.
Shawn Mills
Fantastic weekend with the prettiest girl I ever saw!
Amanda H
Great course, well run event, PGA Tour.
CD Hutch
It's the best of the best at a price that anyone can afford. Where else can you play where they've played 2 US Opens, a PGA Championship, the playoffs and an upcoming Ryder Cup? All you need is to log in and get a tee time. What are you waiting for?
Frankly Mr. Shankly
Storied! I have played the Black and Blue courses. Both wonderful tracks!

Wanted to add this review, as when I had researched- there was very little said about the camping experience at Bethpage. I figured I'd try and make others' lives a little easier and tell you about ours.
We came from Ottawa, Canada for my dad's 65th birthday in the summer of 2018. It's long been on his bucket list for the camping experience at Bethpage. We had passes to the US Open at Shinnecock (about an hour east) on the Friday and wanted to play the Black course on the Thursday. As there was little written about the ins and outs of the camping experience, we figured we best get there early to secure a spot- as we didn't know what kind of demand there would be with the US Open nearby.
We made it to Bethpage at about noon and struggled to find exactly where the camping parking lot was. Even the attendants at the course seemed unsure. After a bit of searching, we finally found it. It's at the very front when you get to the course, near Quaker House Rd. If you turn in, you'll find that the spots have numbers on them. The #1 spot is right in front of the sign with the camping rules. As it's not facing the road, it's tough to see the sign when you come in, but it's quite apparent when you're there.
There wasn't anybody there, so we went into town and had lunch- returned at around 2:30 PM- still nobody there. We didn't see another car until about 5:30 PM. Cars started to roll in around 7pm, and there were probably about 20 by 9:30, and maybe 50 when we woke up the next morning.
The night is quite the experience- we played poker and drank beer in the lot until about 2 am- played music, BBQd, had pizzas delivered- and talked a ton of golf- it was a great time!
At about 5:00 AM, you get a knock on the window and you're given your tickets. You then drive up to the ticketing office and buy your fees. At this point, with your time booked- you can start prepping. We showered in the clubhouse (although I'm not sure we were allowed to)- if you go upstairs in the clubhouse there's a locker room with shower facilities and lockers. We quickly showered, then went downstairs and had breakfast.
The range at Bethpage is short- so no drivers- and we're talking old school hard mats, so it isn't great- but good enough to get warmed up.
First tee jitters are real at Bethpage- as everybody you were up with the night before are now watching you in full display on the first tee. The course itself- it's long, especially if you play from the tips. The rough is gnarly- and make sure you have a good spot if you miss the fairway, because the ball just sits way down in it. Take your medicine and get it back on the fairway- you're going to find out really quickly that spraying it here is punished severely.
Overall- awesome experience- would love to do it all again.
Todd Wagner
Totally lived up to its billing as one of the top public courses in the US. Really really challenging, probably the toughest course I've ever played, but fair. Perfectly maintained. Rough is really thick try to avoid it!!
Peter Sheehan
Absolutely love this place. Yoou wanna play a resl course, this is it. Also every other course is just as awesome, i love the red, blue, green. I love the red because its about the same as you would get from the black. The green cource is beautiful, challenging and hard as well.

One of the best courses in the United States not better than Shinnecock but it is a significant outstanding public course it’s really a culture more than a Land mark. Anthony from New York PS if you ever get a chance go play
Chris
Greatest public course in the country. Played it once; tough track. Greens weren't as fast as I expected. Walking only; easy to get on if a NY resident, not sure otherwise. Lucked out and had a caddy from other twosome help. Highly recommend a caddy.
David Morton
Probably the toughest course I've played. It was a lot of fun, but very tough. If you hit it anywhere in the rough, good luck saving par.
Rich Gaffin
The best course in NY State, by far. If you are a NY resident, it is also the best bargain. I have played it 5 times now and i have enjoyed every round. The course is challenging, but not unfair. The rough is what makes it hard - its not hard to get it out, it just makes the approach unpredictable - if you hit the green from the rough you will probably run though and if you are short, you are likely in the sand. Im have some length off the tee (around 270 to 300) and i think only the 1st, 2nd, 9th and 18th are par 4's that i can hit an approach shot in with an 8 iron or less. My advise - buy a yardage book as you really need to know your lines off the tee, plot your way around (don't go for the par 5's in two as from my experience you are more likely to make 6 than a 4) and if in doubt, club up because the danger is in front of the green on most holes. Its a par 71 and I would say it plays more like a 75 or 76. Play early in the season when the rough is a little shorter. The only downsides is that some players don't repair ball marks/divots like they would at their own club and the practice facility is quite poor, but it is a public facility. The red and the blue courses are good too - the red especially which is like a mini black. The green is an average run of the mill track. Not played the yellow.
Bobby Noodles
A nice course, yes - but golf is golf.....Played it a few years ago as it was on my "Bucket List"....I took a pull cart and midway through discovered how out of shape I was / am. Struggled to make it up the hill on #18 - I was beat !!! You better be in good shape with good legs and lungs !! ;-)
Joey vangi
Place for Wednesday night live music food hanging out with good friends
Scott Nadboy
Historic golf course
Designed by one of the greats
"The true test of golf" i
super long with
huge hills and valleys
turtle shaped greens
and over your head bunkers..
Good luck getting up and down
Super hard
Amongst the best golf courses you will ever play..
Kim Alex
Very nice and fantastic condition green and fairway ever. Try challenge.
Brian Hughes
Nice course. A challenge mostly due to length. Otherwise very fair. You will have to get up and down alot and if you can do it will do well. We walked with caddie. It was not a real tough walk IMO, but I walk when I play most of the time. If you do too, shouldn't be a big deal ( and it was about 90 with high humidity the day we played...but breeze helped...by days end, wind). So don't be scared...go play it and check off the bucket list!☺
Rob Targosz
Great venue for watching PGA golf. The whole family had loads of fun watching the PGA greats challenge Bethpage Black. We spent both Saturday and Sunday afternoon in the shade to the right of 18 and watched the players come in. Excellent spot and nice and cool!
Tony Diorio
I know I gave Montauk Downs 5 stars too and this is much better but in the large scheme of public course I've played around the world they both end up 5 stars. Also, this is harder to get onto so thats the equalizer. I play the Black 2-3 times a year and it's awesome every time. If you never walk and this is your 1st try good luck! Get a caddy!
Sabin Choksi
The green dragon! Make sure you have power and your A+ game before playing. The sign doesn’t lie, it’s not a joke, this is serious Tilly track and worth your ego being destroyed. I don’t care how long you hit, if you don’t have it all together be warned! Fight with the wife, stay at the bar. There is a reason this is a US open course. Possibly the hardest test in golf.
Jeff Goldstein
If you get the chance, play this course. You will be frustrated, challenged and very tired. This is the reason the saying "a bad day of golf is still better than a great day of work" was coined.
Dan Trebendis
Great challenge to play. Watching an event there is an amazing spectator experience, based on the layout. Every hole has some perfect spots to watch, and top notch site lines
Peter Prest
BP Black is a true test of golf with demanding tee shots, length, and good greens. No carts for walking only is also a big reason for the high rating.
The course manager needs to figure out the slow play problem.
Michele Mackedon
My son has played all the courses and loves this one because the professionals play it and he (being 14-18yrs. of age has played itmultiple times and won some Met PGA Tournaments and has been fortunate enough to have won a couple of times!
Tony Marrone
Surprisingly beautiful and well maintained public course.
SANGUK ANN
I played this golf course with the PGA championship condition.
Wit Derby
About as tough and as awesome an experience as any golf course can deliver. The classic golf experience. Will be back again to test my metal (and woods!).
Michael Bairstow
Beautiful golf course. Not for the average golfer.
Khin Zaw
One of the great golf course. It's not easy senior walking with pull/push cart to walk 18 holes. No buggy is allowed.
Jason Rorie
PGA tourney was a great experience! NY fans are great too! Well done to all that put this together! The greatest circus ever!
Dana Berwick
Walked the course while there for the PGA championship. It's a long and exhausting walk. Though I didn't play, it looks like a tough course and I don't think the "advanced players only" signs are hyperbolic.
jeff yun
Extremely difficult course but it is challengeable.
Not even for the mid handicapped golfer.
Patrick O'Connor
The most challenging course in this area. A must play for any golfer wanting to experience a Championship Course. Will frustrate but hang in there.
Bryan Dunbar
Worth the pain to get over to the golf course. Major Championship golf course for a fraction of what you pay at Pebble, Pinehurst or other major courses. Register ahead of time so you can make your tee time.
Ray Edwards
Always love the challenge of the Black course.
Sean Delaney
Have golfed here many times. Tough course! Once you play the Black course you will understand why the U.S. Open is here. Not for those with heart conditions.
Chris Shimmin
It's a top course in the US.
Rick Simpson
What a beautiful Golf Course, and a great day for PGA Golf

Tom Turnbull
Slept in our cars for the first tee time of the day. Amazing experience. Will be back soon.
Ryan Lemenchick
What a course! Fair but punishing if you start to get squirrelly off the tee. Lots of elevation changes. Knock this one off the Top 100 list if you get a chance.

(Translation) Watch the Practice Round of the PGA Championship. A course that has never been seen in Japan. The 18th and 15th are more amazing than watching on TV. Also, if you leave the green, there is a huge bunker waiting for you. But I would like to play it once.
(Original)
