Reviews of Theodore Wirth Golf Course
Jon Ross
Golfed 18 here during a week day morning. Quite busy here, nice little club house. Only knock they had sake for screwdrivers and bloody marys. Thought I would try one and found fruit flies in both attempts. Maybe just get canned drinks here. Everything else was above average, very fun course! Highly recommend getting a golf cart.

Course Name: Theodore Wirth Golf Course
Course Type: Parkland
Location: Minneapolis, Mn
Amenities/Clubhouse - A good size clubhouse, and pro shop serving good bbq. An average range with an average sized putting green that rolled true.
Course Type/Style - A municipal city course with history and tradition. The course doesn’t play very long but can be tight in certain spots. The course offers several elevation changes within holes, going downhill and uphill. The fairways were rolling hills lined by tall mature trees. Be careful, there a couple water holes surrounded by marshland. Tucked away in the city, this course offers all golfers of varying skills a challenge.
Course Layout /Design
1. Doglegs - Yes, mostly par 5’s
2. Short Par 4’s - yes, however the layup shot needs to be precise for a good look on the approach, as well as the T if you go for it, water and trees lurk if you are not straight
3. Long Par 3’s - a good mix of short and semi long par 3’s
4. Hazards - marsh, water, woods
Course Shape
1. Tee Boxes - playable, some were in ruff shape
2. Fairways - playable, not real wide, some spots had longer grass, not spongy but soft enough for big divots
3. Greens - small, not undulated, very subtle breaks and in really good shape, not fast not slow
4. Bunkers - not the best, hard sand, still recovering from recent rains
Service: Excellent - Pro Shop to cart/bag drop/starter attendants
Carts: no gps, USB charger, ample space for drinks and accessories
Overall: 7

We went here for a wedding tonight ...nice little intimate venue . A little distracted when gold cards are going during nuptials..but still great spot for a small wedding. Has a separate bar area and dance hall. There is a patio with corn hole. Free parking ... bathrooms inside and outside. Check out the spot if you have a wedding coming up.

This is the course where I first learned to golf not so long ago. Hnmm about twenty something years ago. I moved out of the area but still come golf here a few rounds per year. I like course for the sceneries and layout. Book a tee time you won't be disappointed.

⛳ Tell em T-Bone sent ya ⛳
1. Course Conditions ⭐⭐⭐
Grass was long. And hungry.
2. Atmosphere ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Always time to take pictures.
3. Grub ⭐⭐⭐
Needs something..
4. Cart Conditions ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Has USB, no GPS
5. Pokerchip Ball Marker👍🏻
6. Price 💲💲💲💲
Try and find a spacial if you can!
I bought my chip years ago.. Just saying👌
Walter Schroder
A really pretty, fun and challenging course. The back 9 are under significant repair but it didn't detract from a hacker golf player like me.
Tyrone Shelton
This golf course is open, This is one of the very 1st golf courses that I've ever golfed on and that was over 25 years ago they just redid some of the holes and let me tell you it is more fun than it ever has been. Some of the holes got longer some of the holes got shorter both the par 3 and the 18 are both open and is worth to play both of them! And if you have not been here for a while then I highly recommend bring your clubs bring someone and gold swing it and play it! Tell em Tbone sent you! #getoutngolf

Awesome place for kids and those who want fun and recreation of all ages. Great programs, trails, and facilities.
Mark O
A fun and gorgeous golf course... just wish some groups played more golf ready
Slsclimbhgts Minneapolis
Sports equipment rental, food, accessories available for sale. Hot tub truck there if you want to relax after working out by hiking, biking, cross country skiing. Convenientlyly located 7 minutes W of downtown Mpls.
Valentine Nde
Love this golf course. Not cheap and very hilly.
Sam Bullemer
Course was in great shape for a city course, greens were running smooth. Only pet peeve is several tilted tee boxes, to me that is the only place you should be assured a nice flat lie.
Thorsteinn Sverrisson
I really liked this course, although speaking as an amateur. Everything was smooth and the course was in pretty good condition. Loved the scenery on some of the holes with the Minneapolis skyline on the background.
Cory Tolliver
Love this Golf course. It’s my favorite of the Minneapolis city courses by far.
Kent Erickson
Really fun city course. In decent shape for the most part. Some great variety of holes with some elevation changes which are the type of courses I like. Not easily walkable especially without a push cart. Very hilly. Plus a PCC course so gets bonus points from me there too. This and Gross are my two favorite Minneapolis courses
Ryan Kurr
This is a great little Par 3 course. It’s a cheap and enjoyable option for a quick round outside!
Jace Bruestle
This was a fun course! I was in town for work and wanted to get a round in before my flight. It has a fun historic feel to in. One thing that impressed in addition to the great course, was the customer service. I left my range finder in the golf cart at the end of my round. I didn't realize that until a few days later. I spoke with Joe, who works in the club house and he went out of his way to mail me my rangefinder. He was also kind enough to pay for the shipping.
Alex Sneed Miller
Course was in good shape on most holes. Nice views of the Minneapolis skyline. Holes are all different making it interesting to play. Lots of mosquitos on some holes.
Brent Cornelius
Fun course with some great views and challenging undulations.
Shawn Augustin
Full disclosure, I live in Minneapolis and love Minneapolis.
Theo Wirth is my favorite course in the city. It is not perfect, but the location is! The staff, I wish I could remember all of their names are the friendliest I’ve ever dealt with. Karen in particular, couldn’t have been more inviting.
The cart paths are not in the best shape and it can be a very wet front nine. But the back nine was remodeled a few years back and it is spectacular. I love the new #12 and #18, they did a fantastic job!
I played 54 there last week and frequent the practice green. Their practice green may be one of the best rolling practice greens I have ever used.
I love this course!!
James Dale
A great old course located within the city limits of Minneapolis. A lot of elevation change and water hazards. Nice view of downtown skyline.
Wyatt Kosmatka
A lot harder course than you would imagine.. One of the best Minneapolis city golf courses
Nathan Jahr
Great course and nice lay-out!! Really enjoyed it!!
Mary Tucker
Beautiful Park in the winter to go cross country skiing or biking. The 2017 Loppet was here!
Michael Arvidson
Good place to golf in the city. Well maintained
Harris Kleyman
A great place to spend the day! Thankful to have been a part of the PrairieCare Goof Tournament.
Marcus Drotning
Fun, but hard course for the average player. Great views and staff.
Don Gronlund
Course was in very good shape. Staff were all great. Reasonable rates and a sub 3.5 hour round.
Adam Backstrom
Solid city course. Not very long. The greens were rolling fast and in good condition.
Spencer
Very scenic course that takes you out of the cities.
Colin Soderstrom
While I didn't golf here this park is great for other things like jogging, walking, minor hiking, biking, mountain biking, and pet walking. This park in particular has some more advanced dirt mountain biking paths which are very popular in the ideal weather. Great for family activities and overall a great park.
Joe Rice
One of the best gold courses in Minnesota. The grounds are beautifully maintained as well as the buildings. The course itself is fairly large and spread out but there are many activities to do on the properties nearby besides golfing. Rent a cart or prepare to do a lot of walking.
Kevin Unterreiner
Just played the newly opened renovated course and it is fantastic. One of the best city course experiences I have had. Greens were smooth and true and great variety of playable holes allows for scoring. Just added Wirth to my local favorites list. Nice to see Minneapolis stepping up their game with taking care of their course conditions and providing five star service. I’ll be back very soon.
Robby C.
Theo Wirth Chalet and Golf Course has been a staple in my growing years! It is a great place to play golf, hang out and eat yummy foods (the grill is always making something good), visit in the winter to ski or sled, and/or have a wedding (my cousin had her wedding there)! The new renovation of the golf course has turned this course into an awesome and competitive play. The new holes 12 and 18 look amazing and the newly redesigned bunkers on each hole look excellent (they’re like little pot bunkers that you see at country clubs)! And after all the construction and everything, it’s still affordable to play! I highly recommend Theo Wirth Golf Club and Chalet to everyone seeking some golf or winter sports fun!!!
Karmen Vander Velden
Awesome ski trails in the winter!
Leroy Blanks
A nice fun golf course. Very challenging for most golfers.
Ray Seville
Stopped in for a breakfast sandwich 🥪 fast and friendly. New remodel clubhouse …
Scott Lange
The new renovations are amazing and the greens roll very true. Very playable!
David Lickness
Take dogs for walks around there peaceful and pleasant
Rob Jorgenson
The new back nine is awesome! I've golfed there for years but in the last several years I golfed there less and less due to lack of course maintenance. That changed after the course remodel. I highly recommend playing there. Sadly it is closed for the winter season but I'll be back in the spring.
Ross Elenkiwich
Beautiful course! Walking the front is easy... the back 9 is another story (take a cart). I have always enjoyed playing this course - it has some beautiful views of the city!
Heather Larson
Short course and ideal location near Minneapolis. Parking was a challenge due to the evening hours and high amount of bicycle activity as we golfed a twilight round.
The course was clean, some holes were hard to follow the fairway line but overall a great time with friends.
Chris Brown
The course has overcome many things over the years, but it's heart is intact and still one of the best layouts in the city. A true Minneapolis landmark, rich in history with a skyline view golf courses across the country would dream of having. Every time I'm in town on business I will make a point to play when weather permits.
Is the course challenging? Sure, but pick the correct set of tees best suited for your game and enjoy the experience. Do round times get long at times? Yes, but golfers of all abilities will use the facilities. If you're a newer golf I would strongly suggest honing your skills on the par 3 before taking on the "big course".
I only wish the city would do what's right and stop using the golf course as a jumping off point for other outdoor activities as it only detracts from the true beauty of the course.
If you have your sticks, play here!
Jason Leger
I actually use the Archery range located at theo wirth pkwy . Even though it needs considerable work. Meaning the ground is so inundated with water that it makes t retrieving your arrows feel like more work than dragging your 200 pound buck back through waist high swamp. There are typically pallets which will keep you dry to the 20, but 30, or 40 your on your own.
EE BEE
Single track Trails arent marked very well. No obvious maps that show park trails. Trails are great. Lots of uphill climbing and many hairpin turns. It can be hard to tell where you're supposed to go.
Mike Hau
The course is in absolutely great shape! Can’t believe how smooth the greens are and you get some awesome views of the Minneapolis skyline. We also got lucky enough to play the newly renovated 11th, 12th, and 18th holes on opening day and they are phenomal! Great staff and a great course. Will be coming back a lot!
David Lloyd
My favorite mpls course. And like the other Minneapolis courses it's only gotten better with ongoing improvements
Courtney S
Challenging and fun golf course but the highlight was Bill the starter. He gave us tips off the first tee, offered his bug spray and even had a box full of golf balls for free to take if you needed them and said to pay it forward. What a great guy!
Joe Dancho
Before they started renovating the course, it was a 4 or 5 star course, easily. Now, I was hesitant to Give it 3 stars. The back 9 has been under construction for some time now and there are 3 temporary greens right in the middle of the fairways. They should be giving a discount as we are really not getting out moneys worth aa it is now. They refuse to give the discounts so we'll not be playing here until construction has been completed. Play the front 9 if you can, but if it rained previous to youre time, be prepared to get wet as there is zero drainage on the front. All in all, a nice course. They just need to speed up the construction.
Jeff wisdom
Just played there yesterday after renovations were complete and course was in fabulous condition!!
Greens rolled true. Great view of downtown. One of, if not the best, city course I have played.
Andrew Zoller
Beautiful XC ski trails in the winter. 5/5 for the trails, not super excited about the poor service at the new ski lodge. Definitely could use an overhaul on organization and people skills
Michael Forare
Whiners, do not play Wirth if you want flat straight fairways and easy holes. The desert is a nice flat spot for you. Use a cart if you are not able to walk up hill. Golf players that truly enjoy golf and the view of nature, will appreciate every time you play Wirth. Sorry for the rant, but that review that was all about Wirth having hills, caused me to shank a ball.
Vinny Lamovec
Great par 3 course. Love that they don't have tee times, so you can just play on an impulse if you'd like without having to worry about planning and coordinating with everybody in your group
Rosemarie Shiver
Wintertime fun on the tubing hill. A well established and not too difficult golf course in the summer. I don't golf but my frequent golfer son enjoys the golf here.
Jerry Schaefer
I'm 67 years old, a left handed golfer with a relatively high handicap. I have played Torre Pines, Kapalua, most of the fancy resort courses in Minnesota, many courses in southern Missouri, Trent Jones Trail, the Gulf Coast, Myrtle Beach, Nicolas and Palmer courses, $10.00 courses and $300.00 courses, courses with sand greens, courses where the stimp meter is running above 12, desert, mountains, bogs, forests, frozen lakes, and more. The layout at Teddy Wirth is one of the few on which the holes are evenly split between holes which favor leftys and rightys. It is a public course. If you want cart paths paved like freeways, pay more taxes. I prefer the rustic, natural track. You may get your $1000.00 PGA Shop togs and shoes a bit damp or mud spattered and you won't find a lackey to polish your clubs, so bring a towel. If the rough is too deep, hit your ball in the fairway. Decide first if you want to slam alcohol or play golf. Alcohol? Utipils Brewery is just 5 minutes down the road. Golf? Stride on, swing away. Walk the front, drive the back. Wave and smile at the marshals then hit the ball. Ready golf will keep you out of trouble. The Teddy Wirth experience is golf the way it was meant to be played once the aristocracy was conquered. A wonderfully everyone's course, challenging but playable for all skill levels. Affordable, beautifully natural, ever evolving urban wilderness in which we are allowed to intrude temporarily to play this silly game we love. And yes, the downtown skyline views are spectacular. The deer, wild turkeys, geese, muskrats, beaver, raccoons, mink, honey and bumble bees, and uncountable species of birds and bugs all agree. Wear a hat and a little citronella. Did I say I love this Teddy Wirth course?
Jacob Hamalian
The chalet was wonderful for a winter wedding reception! The fireplace going and the bar separate from the activity of eating. Had a very northern European feel to it.
Angela Humphrey
I was @ Loppet Trailhead Winter WINTER EXTRAVAGANZA A FREE FAMILY FUN REDEEMER LUTHERAN CHURCH EVENT on the Formerly final 2 golf holes which is now skiing, tubing, sauna, snowshoeing through the woods, etc !! @ Loppet Trailhead ! Great Family Fun !
Sue Lawson
Theodore Wirth is always challenging and fun. Love the layout, the new holes and greens are nice. Staff is always friendly and accommodating. Going to play it a lot now it's on TCG, PCC!
Jens Holmboe
The feel of the front nine of classic county club. The back nine feels like your mountain climbing with golf clubs. The views of downtown are very nice and with the trek.
Tim Anderson
I loved the changes to the course. It was in fantastic shape with perfect greens. The new holes really added a nice touch to the course. I'm coming back for sure.
Blake Pabst
Great place to walk and bike!
Danny O'Brien
Great shape, greens are excellent and love the 2 new holes. Most challenging of all the Minneapolis public course.
Richard Vassallo
The golf course was in good shape reasonable price
Michael Shaughnessy
Friendly staff however the course isnt in great shape right now. Lots of maintenance going on that affects play. Still a fun course to play in Mpls
Victoria Wilson
Theo Wirth three par is a fabulous beginners course. Has some long holes and some hills. Beautiful setting.
Marc Moray
With snow on the ground, and ongoing cold temps ... The golf course becomes, cross country skiing! With a beautiful lodge to warm up in.
Asa Morral
Great city course. Very walkable if you don't mind a calf workout.
Scott Seal
Dry. Well- groomed. Popular destination for many activities. Great spot to relax with a beer after golf.
Chris Dedrickson
Fun par 3. Have yet to play the 18, but it looks great for a public course. This coming from an exclusive CC employee.
Dan Sidle Fishing
They should really post of their website somewhere that the back 9 is under considerable construction. Random greens mowed into fairways on holes 11, 12, and "17". The real holes 17 and 18 are completely shut down. Disappointing to not figure this out until you walk up to the hole.
Dean Wilmot
Played yesterday and delighted with how the renovation turned out. Love the new holes and overall course is in great shape
Robert Rutt
Good par 3 9 hole course little more challenging than Brookview.
