Love this Golf Course, amazing service and very fairly priced. Played during fall so usual conditions of slower greens was expected. Other than that the course was in great shape; lots of restoration and improvements occurring the past year or two, Golf course will be fantastic in the coming years. Always recommend The Oaks when someone asks me about Madison area courses!

The Oaks wedding venue did an outstanding job with our son's wedding. Melissa Parker the Food & Beverage Director was amazing from start to finish. The rehearsal dinner, ceremony and reception were all held at The Oaks and everything was flawless. All of the food was superb and we received many compliments. I highly recommend this venue for your event!!

My friend and I came for a breakfast. The biscuits and gravy were phenomenal- they’re cheddar biscuits. The Oaks also has a fun breakfast drink menu. The wait staff were nice and attentive! I believe their names are Kelly & Savanna! We will be back.

A fantastic and well kept golf course and the staff is absolutely incredible. I'm a photographer who works an event for the veterans museum in Madison and I have been doing this for 4 years now. Each year, the course looks amazing and the staff is even more amazing. I nearly want to apply and work here. It's that good. Very awesome place!

I've golfed this course twice this year and although there is bunker work being done, overall the course was in decent shape. Carts are top of the line and overall very clean. The reason for 5 stars though is my experience with the staff behind the bar and also Kim, who I believe works the grounds/pro shop. The bar staff was pleasant and very authentic each time. Kim though, provided me with exceptional conversation and knowledge when I worked a hole sponsorship for an outing. It could be assumed by some that a solo female would need instruction on how to work a tent at an event but Kim took the time to have a conversation and learned that I myself golf and often work events on courses. We then had great banter about golf and event days and I felt understood and that he appreciated my concerns for his course and likewise with his requests. So often I arrive at courses and the course employees assume I can't follow a map to my hole or even explain to me how a scramble event works... unfortunately that is the norm but Kim built a rapport with me versus man-spaining how the game of golf works or how to set up my tent. Truly appreciated and I only wish other courses and their employees learned about the needs of their guests instead of assuming. Thank you Kim.

We had our wedding ceremony and reception at the Oaks in July and Melissa and the venue were incredible!! Everything was organized and coordinated wonderfully and we are super thankful that we had such an amazing wedding at the Oaks!

Great course, pleasant staff. Good condition, wonderful weather today. Play was lighter than usual so we got around in 3 hours and 20 minutes. Even got to play thru 2 groups. Wonderful day for golf on a course that is a pleasure to play.

Our experience was awesome today with The Oaks Golf Course. People were very nice and the course was very well kept. But most of all I had found out that I had lost my license out of my pocket once back home and when we contacted the course to see if maybe by chance it was there. They weren't sure if it was me but they did have someone that worked there said they lived in the same town and was going to drop it off for that person. Went to check the mail and sure enough it was mine. What a awesome person Bryan was to do such a great thing for someone! I hope he sees this and knows how much I appreciate it and I am thankful for such a great person working there!

Beautiful Course, in very nice shape in 2020. I've driven by this course for years and finally decided to play with a group of friends today. Very pleased and will be back. The fairways are open well enough where I didn't lose many golf balls. But the greens are challenging, making for several three-puts where my second put ended up further away from the first put... I'll definitely playing again. Kicking myself for not buying the 4-rounds of golf for $100 cards from Costco, which they've been advertising for several years. My round today with cart was $70. They could use a second beverage cart on Saturdays. I like this course better than University Ridge, make the trip out, you'll be glad you did.

Great course, greens are tough and well manicured. Staff is incredibly nice. I’ve played there 2x ever, both this season. Kim the starter treated me like I was member both times, super courteous, very polite. Service alone is a reason I’m looking to join there next season, course is damn fun. Highly recommended!!!

My husband & I had our wedding reception at the Oaks in 2019. Melissa was the absolute BEST. If there's someone to have in your corner throughout your wedding planning, its her. She really knows her stuff. She gave great advice, and never hesitated to answer my never ending list of questions. Melissa & her team helped set up our reception decor. Initially I was nervous to have someone else set up for me, but she was so organized when we dropped all of the decor off, it immediately put me at ease! We were so excited when we saw the finished product, it couldn't have been more perfect. The outdoor tent & surrounding golf course is beautiful. One of our favorite back drops was the hop garden. Our photographer was able to capture so many perfect moments! If you're considering booking your wedding at the Oaks, you won't regret it!

Fairly open links style course - for now. 100s of oak trees planted along course that in 25-50 years will really frame the fairways and make this course narrow and tricky. Set your course record now! Excellent banquet facilities that would be great for outings or parties. Could use more watering to soften fairways and tee boxes otherwise a fun course that will only get better.

The Oaks was a beautiful location for our wedding ceremony and reception. The staff is phenomenal, very receptive, and fun! We received many compliments on the food and the bartenders were great. The Oaks helped make our day perfect... Highly recommend!

Course was in good shape despite evidence of heavy use. The guys working on the course were respectful and stayed out of the way. Very good but not great place to play. Some issues with service in the clubhouse but they just finished up a big event so it was understandable.

First time playing course with my scratch son, my 14 year old grandson, who scored 130 and my nephew. Great track! Fair for everyone. 5 nice T Boxes, Great shape, value, ($59 Labor Day weekend), Nice big, challenging greens. Asked starter where the water is on the course and he replied, "None, but you will be back at the clubhouse after 7, and we will bring you out some and catch up to you soon. On the 2nd hole, someone brought out 4 ice waters in covered cups! GREAT Service. GPS screens in carts.

This is a great and extremely challenging golf course, so be ready for a challenge. The grounds crew always keep it in great shape! My only complaint is that each of the last two times that my coworkers (25-29 years old) and I have gone here to play, the starter tells us to "make sure we don't slow others down." I'm not sure if this comment is made because being younger adults he thinks we're going to be goofing off on the course (a common stereotype I've encountered), but the remark is just plain rude. We're all around 10-14 handicappers and always follow proper etiquette, so if you're around our age just use caution that you may be treated a little differently. Last thing I'll say, bring your putter because these greens are tough! Shooting a good round here is extremely satisfying!

Course is in very good shape and well maintained. If you your handicap is greater than 14/15, I’d warn against playing a round (I’m a 12 handicap). These are some of the most challenging greens I’ve ever played. Whoever is in charge of pin placement is an evil, evil person. Personally, the greens are a bit too challenging to be fun. Would recommend for the more skilled golfer.

The Oaks Golf Course in Cottage Grove is one of my favorite golf courses in south central Wisconsin. It is a bit of a drive for me, but it is a course that I try to get to at least once every year. When it first opened, it was rated as one of the best new courses in the U.S. And, over the years it has continued to be rated among Wisconsin’s best. The Oaks is located east of Madison right along I-94. When I first went there I was concerned that the Interstate traffic would create an annoying, distracting environment. Surprisingly, it does not. I find playing The Oaks to be relaxing and enjoyable; and very challenging!! The Oaks is a challenging, but fair golf course. It is also a unique layout with 6 par-3s, 5 par-5s and 7, rather than the standard 12, par-4s. Most of the fairways have reasonably wide landing areas and the greens run true. There are sufficient water hazards and sand traps to challenge every level of golfer and provide a better than average opportunity to lose a golf ball! And, although there are 250 mature oak trees on the property, the course does not have the narrow, closed-in feel of other courses with mature trees. I would also advise everyone to take the time to eat in the clubhouse. They have on of the best cheeseburgers and fries in all of south central Wisconsin. There are other delicious sounding options on the menu, which I unfortunately have not tried because I am always drawn to the cheeseburger basket. The Oaks is a unique and enjoyable golfing experience in a beautiful scenic environment. Take the time to go an enjoy it.

I have played the course for the past 3 months and the greens still have yet to come back from aeration. For the price point they are charging the greens should be better. A simple top-dressing every couple of weeks would fill the greens in and make them roll true and not hop around.

Only played the front nine yesterday, the first time here in ten years. Course was in fine shape. Lunch was terrific. Looked like a great place for a venue, as a wedding was being held in a big white tent next to the clubhouse. Would of given 5 stars, but I only played nine, and didn't crash the reception.

I am from out of town and an avid golfer. I really like this course.....alot. It is manicured nicely and provides a nice challenge for whatever tees you choose to play from. The large selection of craft beer on the beverage cart was a pleasant surprise. USB charging ports were a nice touch as well on the carts. I think $72 is pricey though and that is why I didn't give it 5 stars. Overall it is a very nice place and I will play it again when in the area.

Very beautiful course. Unfortunately, the last time I played there they had just aerated the greens and poured a bunch of sand all over. While I understand that is part of the course maintenance it would have been nice if the starter or someone in the pro shop mentioned that. That day, they were literally the worst greens I have putted on. Also, due to many par 3's and short par 5's plan to do a lot of waiting...

I have golfed 9 of the top 17 courses in the state per golf wisconsin (no Kohler courses) and eventhough it is not on that list, the oaks is one of my favorites. It's in great shape and it is so much fun to play. Weather was hot and humid today and the course had free water in a cooler to take out on your round. They even had a gentleman drive a cart around (not the beer cart) to keep handing out water. I have not been offered free bottled water on a course before (self server coolers don't count.) it was a simple gesture by a family owned business taking care of their customers. It was great. We ate lunch after the round and the food was great as well. Drove three hours to golf the oaks because it's was one of my favorites when I lived in madison. I have lived north of green bay for the last six years. Having played many courses in WI and even the upper peninsula of Michigan, the oaks is not only my favorite madison courses but one of my favorites in all of WI and the UP.

They must discourage walking the course. No yardage markers on the fairways. Not even a 150 yd stake. Looks like they removed all the yardages from the sprinkler heads.
