It’s a pretty small golf course in a small town of Beaver Dam, WI. Roughs are very thick and hard to get out. Greens were very slow but maybe it’s a seasonal issue. Other than that, it was very pleasant playing on the course. It is a walkable course, taking you probably around three hours to play. Very tranquil to play as you don’t see many people on the course. The course would definltey play differently if the greens were faster.

Amazingly beautiful and challenging course with many rolling hills. Quaint bells. Wonderful views all over..and well taken care of and groomed. Dinner on the tiki lit patio was delicious from drinks through entrees to desert with very reasonable prices. Perfect place for a round of relaxing golf, lunch, dinner or a wedding and reception setting. I will be back.

What a hidden gem of a course. I have had this course on my list to play for a couple of years and finally got the chance to play it. While it is an hour drive from the valley, it is worth it. The course has rolling hills, tree lined fairways, flat greens, elevated greens, sand traps, and some water. If your looking for a new place to try, I highly recommend this place. It will definitely challenge your shot making and I recommend accuracy over distance.

Fun course with nice hole layouts that will challenge the average golfer, most of the tee-boxes are in good condition but some could be re-leveled. The carts are great with an on board navigation and distance displays to the hole or any spot in the hole. Even showing other carts that might be in the way on "Blind Shots". The clubhouse and banquet hall are superb with a nice bar all on the main level and a proshop downstairs. Overall this is a nice course that was fully enjoyed by all and will definitely be golfer again!

Old Hickory is a wonderful old (100 yr+) course. It has challenging approach shots and sloping, fast greens. The holes are generally tree lined with huge old trees. The 7th is a picturesque par 3 with a tee shot over water. They keep the course in great shape. Old Hickory is a great value, not expensive given the quality of the course. And there is a GPS system in the carts. Highly recommended!

Extremely well kept for this early in the season. Excellent golf carts with GPS+. Beer carts come through about every 3 holes. Excellent tee boxes. Tough, fast greens. Overall, a great place to golf at a fair price.

Nice course. The condition is excellent. Well kept. Challenging for sure. Free bottles of water on some holes (but no water on the beer cart?) Clean restaurant and nice pro shop. The pace on weekends is way too slow. The course is packed more full than an infants diaper. It shouldn't take 5.5 hours for 18 holes. If play was faster, this would be 5 stars all the way. Next time I have a day off during the week, I'll go back. I think it would be very enjoyable at a reasonable pace.

Worth 2 hr drive to play it. However the staff won't give you cart if you be there too early no matter you are coming from Chicago.

Beautiful course but so challenging. This course has so many hills and difficult greens. A lot of greens are elevated and have lots of slopes, making the short game extremely difficult. The course if obviously old, with many mature trees, which make it stunning. Some water on the course, hole 7 is a shot over a pond. I would and will play again!

Blackhawk Mens Tour

Our group of 12 drove up from Madison to play as we do each summer. Good value and worth the drive to play this 100 year old classic parkland style course. In the past 10 years the course was in the best condition I have played. Greens were true and quick. fairways and rough well maintained. Sand traps could use work as a number had snirt (dirt and sand mixture). However we saw a crew adding sand and re-digging the edges on several traps so I will give them the benefit of the doubt that others will be fixed soon.

Golfed today with 3 others. Greens were as good as any I've played this season to date. Unlike what was listed on their website the ball is allowed to drop into the cup..not a raised liner which would be a deal breaker for me. Course in great shape and carts available. Will be back.

Was there for my cousin's wedding, looked like a nice place. Appeared newer, and to be a pretty nice clean place. Honestly seemed nicer than the other country club in the area which we went to on accident and had a wedding reception going at the same time. The steak was rather sub par, according to me and others at our table, but the rest of the food was pretty good. The bar does have Spotted Cow on tap, so if you prefer a bit nicer of a beer, they have that, and of course some of your usual Miller and Budweiser. Of course this was a wedding, so this may not speak to day to day usage of the facility.

I am a new member this spring. I could not be more pleased with the entire experience to date. The course always presents some challenges. But it’s not a problem... when hitting it straight. I believe it is simply one of the best tracks within an hour of Madison.

Came tonight for the Friday fish fry & it was amazing. They have many things on the menu to choose from, too. Then we toured the course - looks like a great challenge and it's simply one of the most beautiful courses I've seen! I WILL be back to golf.

The essence of the game is magnified on this course. Never before have I played a course that played so true. Fast and firm rolling fairways that are cut just right, greens are in pristine condition and that old school feel of how a golf course should be. No houses line the course and the trees give the course a slight challenge. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the golfing experience for the price. You won't regret coming to play here!

Tuesday night All You Can Eat Pasta Bar is absolutely exceptional. Individually cooked so you can pick your favorite sauce, meats, pasta, and veggies. Chef was amazing and entertaining to watch!! Friendly staff and clean. After dinner drink on patio overlooking golf course was a perfect way to end a great meal. Highly recommend.

Dined with friends....Food was excellent...Service was very good!!...We started with cocktails (Yummy pumpkin pie martini) & Good conversation...We moved to our Dinner table & Dined on fish & several different entrees. The servers were prompt and friendly. Always a pleasant experience.

Old Hickory is simply a great golf course, club and value. Look forward to playing Old Hickory again this summer while on vacation. I appreciate the fact that they still send me E-mail specials, events and more - even though I live in Texas. Their website is always updated, the food is awesome, customer service is outstanding - nothing but great stuff going on at OHGC.

Great routing, but needs a giant windstorm to get rid of all the trees. Gil hanse or tom doak could do wonders for this place because it's a great piece of property
