Reviews of Rancho Park Golf Academy
A beautiful gold course withal an area for putting practice, a driving range, food, and a decent sized golf course (for the LA area).
The staff was friendly even the maintenance man was super nice! The grass was soft and sprawling hills looked like a decent challenge.
It even had a decently tall fence to protect the local area because it is smack dab in the middle of town.
It is a good thing that the Rancho Park golf course does not have water hazards where you can lose balls for beginners. However, since the courses are narrow to each other, you can be disturbed by other party golfers who can come to cross your course during the playing time. There is plenty of parking but you need to walk some distance.
Beautiful course absolutely beautiful day I was there and what a great value in the city
Nice golf course, friendly for beginner ^^
Great golf course in a very convenient location. The driving range is very enjoyable and it's open until quite late.
Well maintained golf course. Always have fun here. Thank you.
Excellent diving range. There is a lower and upper level. Opon late at night also. Well maintained.
RLA café the best in the west
We Love Taking Care of Your Home & Neighborhood!!!
Superior High Pressure Cleaning
It's a great, fun, easier course. Fun to walk. A little expensive.
It was a great course! Very simple process to check in. We were very much beginners and still found it very enjoyable.
Great public course. Must play when in LA. Good course to walk. Don’t bother with a cart and enjoy the walk. Par’d 18 both times I played. Better than Arnie.
Close from Los Angeles and Santa Monica.
Courses are fun. Little hills and valleys. Personally like to play at twilight after it cools off and sunset on from the 9th hole is amusing.
Recommend it, but I hope it does not get too popular. it's hard to reserve tee off already.
Great early morning round at Rancho Park.
We were the first group off and never saw anyone in front or in back of us.
The course was well manicured and taken care of. Greens were a little slow which costs me a couple of birdies 🐦 . Fairways and greens = birdies and pars. Thank you! …
Great course❤👀⛳🏌️♂️ …
Clean, nicely maintained grass
I mean, Arnold Palmer shot a 12 on 18. I shot a 9...so yeah. I'm better than Arnold Palmer.
I only played back nine for the first time. Difficult! Hilly 9 holes, some narrow fairways, greens have some slope and are fairly protected. I found it challenging and look forward to play 18 some day, if I can ever find a tee time...
I'm a 16 handicap...hole 18 isn't as hard as me and Arnie make it look.
Great condition. Beautiful course.
Great course
a good, central location near beverly hills & century city. rancho club includes:
- Full 18-hole course (have never played, though)
- Par-3, 9-Hole Executive course available if you are short on time, a beginner, or need some swing practice with that damn n’ delicate pitching wedge, er with some of your lower irons
- Two-Level/2-Tiered Deck Driving Range
- Clubs, golf bags, golf bag rolling carts, golf balls, etc. are avail to rent
- A couple, fairly decently-maintained practice putting greens throughout the grounds
Firm n fast playing conditions - excellent shape!!
Nice range!
Love to golf in my off time. This place isn't too packed...not the fanciest place but gets the job done
Difficult to get a time but fun course. Also decent par-3 but if busy the 9-hole can take forever
Solid driving range. Nothing fancy about it but great place to go hit a bucket of balls
It's a great place to have a nice brunch too in addition to playing golf
Great place to golf, play and hit few buckets, of course. And... has some great, friendly people. I recommend them.
This was a very fun course
beautiful course and range couldn’t recommend it enough.
A great public course. Very hard to get on and quite crowded. They have people on range and around managing social distancing. Once you're on the course you are spaced out nicely.
Great golf course, a little challenging in all the good ways.
Love the golf range here. First time that I went to it to test out my swing and distance. Got to say it was fun.
It's a great place to have fun and meet all kind of different and interesting people but the best after playing is having drinks at the bar with some of their great appetizers
Fairways are wide open. Greens were fast but not to fast. Pace off play was excellent. Staff was friendly.Good value for the money.
Course in good shape, pace of play good just under 4 hrs teeing off at 650
Nice driving range. Well lit. Easy to get in and out.
Just a great course with lots of memories. But like people has gotten old and worn. Still worthwhile playing if for nothing more than the memories and knowing that golf greats walked where you are walking.
Love this course. Grew up playing here. Its home for me and always a great time. Rounds are usually a bit slow here but well worth it for such a great course.
I had a wonderful time at my aunts house across the street from Rancho Park Golf. Great views of the course I must say.
Beautiful championship golf.Be prepared for five to six hour round. Plays very slow.
Great little course. Can easily get backed up as all of us amateur golfers practice here.
Fun course in the middle of century city. Need a helmet on the 18 hole for those in the know.
Nothing is better than this place! The course is gorgeous and it’s super relaxing 😎 I had the best service in the restaurant! …
Everybody knows this is the busiest public golf course in the country and you will spend 5 hours on a round it's best to play the back nine in the morning at 6:30 where you will spend two and a half hours and play the best holes on the course.
Really nice course! Great afternoon playing there back when coronavirus wasn't a thing...
Great place for an easy round at the driving range.
Love the ability to play a 9 hole par 3 or a challenging 18 hole course.
Its an awesome golf course but always busy. Not their fault obviously, but it keeps me away during busy hours.
Good local spot to go hit a few drives but can get very busy. Never been on the course but I'd expect it's sloooow. Shop / Diner / Bar is OK but doable for a public course post-round pint. Plenty of parking and a fun par 3 down the back.
Very well organized in regards to social distancing and courteous friendly knowledgeable staff Thks for a great round of Golf 🏌️♂️😷 …
Enjoy GOLF❗️
I love these grounds, whether its the range, 9-hole or 18-hole, the challenge is there to help improve your game.
The only place to shoot arrows on the west side of LA. Expanded with four different ranges. Truly excellent.
Friendly stuff and good course. Driving range is crowded so give yourself enough time to wait
Certainly the best LA City course as far as challenge. Don't even bother teeing off after 9. You'll be in for a 5 hour round plus.
Great driving range and nice practice putting greens.
Always crowded but flows faster than most driving range something to see.
Haven't been to many driving ranges/courses, but it seemed nice. My friend and I were the last one's driving and they turned the lights off on us. I guess that's one way to kick customers out.
Really nice city golf course. Always a long day though. Be prepared to be there ALL DAY, unless you get there super early. Grounds are fair, but good for a city course. It is the best option for LA City folks.
Great course. I'm a pretty new golfer. Loved it.
Easy going, friendly place. A 1 1/2 mile walk in all. Very affordable.
Nice driving range. They have good tees and sell 120 balls for 12usd, I think. A lot of people come here but usually you can get a spot on the 2nd floor but then you can't hit driver.
Expect a wait and come early and fibre parking it's in the middle of town so it gets packed quick. Great spot otherwise.
Really surprised how nicely kept the course is! Haven't played here in a Vety long time, got around in just over 4 hours. Best public course in LA!
For the price, it's hard to complain... but I will anyway. It took two hours to play 9 holes of par 3 golf. We were constantly waiting for a few groups on every tee. The holes are all very short (100 yards plus or minus), so I didn't get to use anything more than my pitching wedge all day. Fun spot to goof around practice, but just too slow.
For as much as this course gets played, it's in great condition. It's one of very few public courses in the area that will challenge a good golfer and offer a relaxing walk through a lovely park in the middle of a metropolis.
I'm so thankful this place is open during covid. I've only utilized the driving range, but everytime we go there are spaces open. It's nice to be able to be outside and get some sun (I always go for the top deck). They seem to do a good job cleaning and wiping down things like the ball baskets between people and do enforce mask wearing.
greens are very clean and well shaved - not too many ppl. Came with a buddy and really enjoyed ourselves
Beautiful environment with old trees and a challenging course
A little bit of a wait... overall good experience for my 1st time. I would come again.
It's great golf course.
Nice course and very kind staff!
I play this course a lot and the 18 hole is pretty nice. The staff are the worst though. Zero customer service.
I like to go here as they had a golf course restaurant, that was open for breakfast and lunch that was quite good and the value was quite reasonable for the area. As I understand it will it will be closing and replaced by some kind of Gastropub concoction that they hope to attract a probably a younger crowd, although I'm not certain the sport and the location will accommodate their desires.
I love this golf course. Super fun yet still challenging.
There aren't that many golf courses in the west la area. Especially for a reasonable price. I've been going here for years since I've lived in the area and honestly the course isn't maintained the best (on the par 3 course) which is the only reason I gave it 4 stars. If I were to rate just the 18 hole regular course it'd be 5 stars for location and price. For the par 3 course it's convenient for most people like me who aren't 🐅 Woods and have to make time to play a stress relieving game. It is perfect for brush ups and those warm ups in between the 6-12 month stretch where our clubs are collecting spider webs in the closet
Fun golf course, although it can get very busy and plays pretty slow. Good value for the price.
Great time at a surprisingly nicely kept par 3 Muni course! Though it can get a little backed up, but hey, its a great practice course for someone looking to get out and work the short game! Greens are well maintained and the course is easy to follow. i met some nice people out there also!! Enjoy this little piece of golf practice heaven!
Just an amazing place to play golf
Best L.A. city course. Gotta tee off early to avoid a 5 hour round. Driving range is pretty state of the art for a city course.
Took my 10 year old son here today for his first golf game. We had a blast. Short course allowed him to get a tast of the game without getting too discouraged. He had a few great shots that will keep him coming back for years to come. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The course looked great. Greens were well manicured. Its a great place to work on your short game. I can't wait to play again.
Good track, in basically good shape. Decent restaurant. Good greens. Fine for the location.
Needed to start coming here earlier in pandemic. Picturesque plenty of space and footgolf available EVERYDAY
Great public golf course to play. Staff are couteous
Nice practice greens. When I don't have time to play, I can practice putting.
It's a good golf course
Course is fine, if not a bit boring. Plenty of shade though. The guys who work the booth, they're the opposite of affable.
Pace is slow, but for the price and being open with the flexible hours that they offer, I couldn’t be happier.
The course is in decent enough shape, albeit with a little brown on a green here or there, but other than that you could do a lot worse.
They require you to bring out a minimum of 3 clubs, and with a longest hole of about 150yards, you should be fine with the Putter/56°/PW combo provided you’re a hard hitter.
Less crowded than the last time I’ve been here. The fairways and greens alike have been well kept than previous years. The driving range (newly renovated) can get a little packed (but quick to find a spot) in the daytime; your own closed out stall which makes it even better for the self-cautious player or those who want to zone in without any distractions.
A hidden little cafe that's never busy. Great lunch and the view is spectacular. Take the step into the past
Excellent layout with a reasonable yardage, not challengingly long though. A challenging course to first visitors, as tree lines play with your game. Employees are friendly as well.
Amazing design .... can play tough for all skill levels...we had a great time and pace was good for being pretty busy
One of the cities best courses. Great practice greens with a 2 teir driving range
Historic course! Can't believe Arnold Palmer got a 12 on the last hole. I made an 11, he must really stink.
Always a pleasure to meet people there. Clean and pretty park
Very clean and well kept, considering how busy this course is
Driving range needs new mats and chipping area is subpar. The course is in relatively good condition and a fun layout.
For a busy course it was in excellent condition (late November), especially the greens. It's not too hard but has some nice undulations and quiet corners where you forget you're in the middle of LA. Great food in the clubhouse too, plus lots of cool history few munis can offer. The only slightly bad thing for me was mediocre hire clubs for $30 and I know it can be very slow to get around - at 7am on a Monday I was fine though.
Doesn't get 5 stars only because it played very slow. 4 holes in an hour. Otherwise everyone was very pleasant and courteous.
They run a tight ship over there. Otherwise just a solid course. Good that it is in the city so close but also lacking in a lot of facets.
Peaceful and interesting Golfcourse
And faiwway&green very good!
Range restrooms have been out of service for weeks now. Otherwise I love this course!
Plenty of parking, clean facility with challenging courses. The restaurant serves excellent food and the best Bloody Mary around.
My home course! Great on a really hot day...there’s nobody out on the course! Ha
Okay course. Not a lot of public options in West LA. Fairways in pretty good conditions with a few interesting holes. Greens are so so. Rounds can be quite long especially on Friday-Sunday.
$8 round of golf on a par 3 is perfect for a not so serious golfer like myself. During the week it's pretty dead so I can take my time or rush through it. Do not go during the weekend unless you have 5 hours to spare.
Good 4 the value and good old country club layout but always crowded. 6-hr round is average here
For a public course you get your money's worth. I haven't ayed the soccer golf but I will be trying the next time I go
Beautiful Place - Love this historic course
A very historic golf course in Los Angeles. Fairways framed by huge eucalyptus trees. Changes in elevation. A wonderful public golf corse and a valuable asset to the city.
Been golfing here for 20 years. Great course 4 1/2 hour rounds most of the time.
This is great for those people that are just beginners or those that want to watch and try to learn how to play a decent game of golf
Driving range it's always available with some good golf balls
I like using the range. Unless you start super early, expect slow play
Classic hilly course with tree-lined fairways and smallish greens.
played well with friends inexpensively and well 😍😍😍 …
Great golf course, very helpful staff and by far the “Best Fried Chicken Sandwich” in all of LA! If you’re in the area and looking for a good chicken sandwich. This is the place. Don’t be fooled by the food truck. The food coming out of this truck is amazing. Full restaurant renovation under way! This place is going to have micro brewed beer and amazing food. Targeted construction completion early 2021.
9 hole is a great place to get in a short game of golf. Course isn't too difficult and it's fairly cheap.
I can only comment on the driving range because I haven't golfed the full course yet. That being said, it's a double decker driving range with a lot of the bottom stalls being reserved for instructors, that can be a good thing if you want to learn more about golf but it can be a hindrance if you just want to get in there and get your drive on.
Nice challenging course at times, but the greens are slow and chewed up on certain holes
Good value for all skill levels. They also have a 9 hole 3par course.
This is a solid, cheap 3 Par Golf Course that makes for a fun round. Depending on how busy it is you can finish your round in just about an hour or so, and it's fun to play on a whim and just bring out a few clubs. Pretty well maintained and great to bring along beginners as well.
It's a great little part 3 great for practicing your golf
Not a bad place 2 sharpen up ur short game ...
Beautiful 18 nestled between Santa Monica and Beverly Hills, this public course has free onsite parking, double deck driving range (plenty of instructors), and even a little snack hut on the 12th hole, complete with full bar.
Fantastic driving range with affordable buckets of balls and a relaxed attitude. Ran into Chris Pratt on Valentine's Day shooting something on the upper level!
Nice beginner course. Doesn't get filled up
The Best 18 holes in this city golfer of (7+ years)
Greens where slick like ice. Good day of golf.
Very nice driving range
Always a great time! Me and a few vet buddies come together to have fun, exercise and check on each other! We play the short 9 because it's short enough to walk and not long enough to get mad, we breathe the open air, total about 6000 steps, exercise our upper bodies and continue to build on the foundation that brought us together. A great way to get up and get out!
The course is long and narrow and lined with trees, the fairways were in pretty good condition and the greens are undulating, small and not very fast.....
Tee time was noon and we finished 5 1/2 later. The parking is long and narrow just like the course. I ended up walking around 400 yards with my bag up hill to get back to the pro shop.. There is a 2 tier driving range that was extremely crowded, better get there at least an hour early if you want to hit balls...
The people who play here are jerks but the course is pretty intense/fun
I would normally go to the golf range however, most of the needs to replace.
Great course, fair prices, new carts, good driving range. I've played just about all of LA City's courses, and this is my favorite. Formerly a private club, it has a 'non-muni' feel, with varied terrain and a peaceful wooded vibe. Not wide open like some course, it's undulating and interesting with blind greens, drops, climbs and old growth trees. No water hazards so no geese! Driving range is great, and their 3-par is good as well, although both are hitting off the mats only. I do wish they'd either open the cafe back up or rebuild it, Penmar has the best 19th hole for sure.
Pretty spacious considering this is in the middle of a neighborhood in Palms/Century City. The course and driving range are in great shape but the building and restaurant can use a remodel, it has the feel of the late 80's.
Course in great shape easiest ever getting out today
The breeze in the afternoon is refreshing after a warm front nine. 👍🏽 …
Beautiful and historic landmark in the middle of los Angeles. All stars have played there.
Course is in good condition. Tee time is on time. 4hr round. Carts available.
I played well so...5 stars!
I love the golf course full service coffee shop and sports bar. A Los Angeles hidden treasure.
Good range and good course. $12 for 120 balls in the range($9 for 70 and $5 for 30)
Very important Park area, especially for the neighborhood. I live in Cheviot Hills. However it has been much more than that Througout the years.I'v witness an increase in golf players and from different parts of Los Angeles.
Great when half full. Fun par 3.
If Wilson one of the elder statesmen of Los Angeles public golf ( he is 71 years old at the writing of this) then meet his even older brother Rancho( who is 73).
Rancho is long, wideish , tree lined course. But its not just a “grip it and rip it” course. Lots of long par 4s and long par 3s make this a perfect way to test your game.
On a lot of the holes its not advisable to just try to pound it down the fairway, as if you do “pound it” you may find yourself on the wrong side of that fairway with no shot to the green.
Don’t forget to pop over to the tips on the 18th tee to read about how you are about to have a great final hole, well compared to the one Arnold Palmer did whilst playing in the “Los Angeles open” in 1961!
All in all a very popular (to the point of being on the edge of being over played) fantastic course that although you may not make a great score, you will definitely enjoy the challenge.
Good luck getting a tee time though!
Great time hitting at range and watching game at bar!
Really nice park and services definetly recomend
Good driving range availability
Great place to eat and play golf
I was nice and beautiful place to go for a walk
Very open and great place to take someone that likes to golf
Footgolf with the family! Very fun and great to be outdoors.
Short par-3 course, small but fast greens and relatively well maintained fairways
It is a pretty good Par 3 golf course and actually fairly cheap for golfing in Los Angeles
It's one of the best public course in LA
I had the honer of being invited to play golf with a buddy. Now I know how the other half lives
Beautiful grounds for non-golfers to walk at this most popular golf course in the city. Archery school, tennis courts and set course with markers for walkers
Nice driving range and putting area
Great time to driving range.
For a municipal golf course, can't better in all respect !!. 😅 …
Great place for a round of golf
Rumor has it that you should hurry up and get here as it's slated for remodeling this is old la with a great deal of charm. I don't think anything's changed here since 1962ish.... not much of a morning drinker myself but more than one golfer avail themselves of the $10 bloody Mary typical to slightly better-than-average hash House breakfastbut if you like the basics of bacon and eggs and a decent buttermilk pancake and then OK side of fruit with a nice view of the driving range this is your place. Lovely leisurely comfortable spacious well-lit and efficient friendly service
Good course to walk and need good skills to get good scores
One of plenty nice public courses in the area.
Be even better if I hit them straight!
Beat county course in LA. Course has a lot of personality and trees! Great fun.
Very challenging for a city course! Would play again.
Great place. Had fun!
Rancho is the best public golf course in LA. The greens are fast and the fairways are green. Very well kept facility, always a pleasure to play.
Too many people and slow... You have to wait each tee box
One of the best City golf courses
Nice place to play golf
Just visited the range, nice facility with a lot of parking
Nice course, challenging. Great prices.
Love both the big and small par 3 course.
Big is nice size and challenging. I got my first eagle on this course and ran into OJ Simpson more then once. Celeb Sighting!
Small par 3 is great course to get in a quick game and practice up your short game. Plus they have soccer-golf fun game for the family.
Beauty of a golf course
Well maintained. Nice park to take a walk. Multitude of sports options....tennis, baseball, basketball, soccer, la crosse, archery, petanque.. also a pre school, children's playground, swimming pool (only from June through August, a camp (also many camps meet here) tennis lessons, many trainers meet their clients at this park, Rancho Park Golf course is just north of park (accessible on Pico Blvd.). Also nice place to walk dogs and meet people with dogs. Be aware that the "dog catcher" frequents this park, due to a few irresponsible pet owners (yes people have called and complained), so always have your leash nearby.
I love this place.
Great course. Guy in the cage needs an attitude adjustment.
Great golf course.
Visited the driving range. Great outdoor range.
No driving range to warm up. Not really anything challenging.
Daily golf. Slow during the week end. Cheap.
Great public course, loved the Nicklaus plaque on 18!
Great for beginners as well as short game practice.
Fairways in decent shape and greens in very good condition
It's a very clean and cozy golf course.
Nice place for an awkward day date.
You know never played but seems long
Great couse nice greens!
The fairways are like carpets, the greens like sacred places. The greenkeeper is a lady who loves her job. It shows.
Awesome, peaceful Oasis. Super twilight play equals super savings! Looking to get away not far away? Golf. Hit a bucket of balls, take a lesson, learn to play here and your instant vacations is moments away. Great service, food, cold drinks, affordable. HINT: For real relaxation turn your phone's off and leave them in your car if you know the world won't end if you do. Give yourself a break here anytime any day!
Great down town golf course in LA!!! L.A. Open in 1961; reigning Masters and U.S. Open champion Arnold Palmer carded a twelve after a great tee shot was followed by four consecutive shots out of bounds.
Rancho Park is great! Quality meeting location
Nice park but a lot of squirrels
Because I like to walk around the park on my off days and vacation from work and school.
The people it's nice the supervisor isn't
Know the course, play every week.
Had breakfast. Great service.
Had breakfast. Quite adequate..
Country club experience, without the price
Nice golf range.
Nice driving range...
Good fairway and greens.
Cheap af. I recommend the par 3 for all skill levels. 25 cent club rentals, that you get and pay for at the starter for the par 3, how can you complain about that? The regulation sized 18 is in great shape. Wide fairways, shorter holes, hairy slow greens were like a thick carpet to putt on compared to Torrey pines the same week. Monday afternoon walked right on with a 3 some, place was emptyish. Staff is rough around the edges and actual service is non existent. Oh yeah, CHEAP AF
Some of the slowest golf in the world. Bring your chessboard, your headphones and infinite patience. The course needs marshals, high quality starters and a lot fewer golfers. There’s a cool plaque at the 18th tee box to one of Arnold Palmer’s worst holes of golf ever- he shot a nine on an easy 5-par in a national tournament there before your Daddy was even born.
always relaxing
Good shape. No backups
Great driving range!!
Good for irons practice or teaching.
the best place to rest with the family
Great place to play!!
$10 for a large bucket (110) of balls at the range. Bring your own tees.
Great par 3 designed by Dr. Alistair McKenzie
They have clean golf range!!
Great well maintained course
Nice Golf course
Old, local famous course.
I love this wonderful place....
A little crowded for my taste.
Greens are in best condition in 10 years.
A former site of past PGA glory where Arnold Palmer's 7-over 12 on the 18th hole. This event is marked by not 1 but 2 plaques on the 18th hole.
Other notes include: LA's largest squirrels, nice selection of tall-boy beer cans, inconsistent greens
5 stars for location. For simply being here and not in Palos Verdes or the Valley.
Always super busy
Driving range is good
Great old course
love to come and play here
Classic test of golf! ⛳

(Translation) good. I insist. I met many people who were spending their leisure time in their later years, and they were all gentle people. Big trees and squirrels run around here and there, and the green lawn spreads out, so it's worth saying that it's a place where you can take a cool shot. The weather is very nice and refreshing.
