Reviews of Wildcat Golf Club
My favorite golf courses. Both are spacious , challenging, and beautiful. I worked here back in 2007 and loved the staff then. Now I take my clients and family here, they also love it. Great customer service, very clean range, and awesome food.
Course was in decent shape for the start of the year. Tee boxes were in pretty rough shape, but I was pleased with the greens. Texas soil hits a little different, so that takes getting used to.
If you are looking for a fun and unique layout, this is a great place. So much water, not a surprise they call it the “Lakes” course. If you are new to golf, I would not suggest this as you may lose a case of balls on the front 9 alone. Challenging to play and fun to be challenged.
Staff is great. When booking our tee time, told the staff we were coming in from Utah. When we arrived, I had a “Utah” putter cover. That is kind of service you get at Wildcat.
First time there, great place and friendly staff. We played the Lakes course and it was a beautiful day.
I’ll be back to play Wildcat! It’s definitely improved since I last played it many yrs ago when it first opened.
Beautiful course with a lot of different elevations. A lot of holes with downtown, Astrodome or NRG in the background.
Well kept and challenging..greens were perfect for December rain conditions..cranky, no fun Marshal but cart girls and their service was awesome!
I've been playing here for years and typically the staff is great, but yesterday's experience was unacceptable. I booked a tee time through golfnow for 2 players and when we checked in no one was paired with us and we played just us 2 the whole round. At check in, we were informed they would not give us 2 carts for our significant others to join us. The young guy at the Pro Shop said it was because of the final four being in town. I've been able to have 2 carts for 2 players and 2 riders before here and it wasn't disclosed anywhere online or in person about this rule. I can understand, so I offered to pay for another cart. The young man said no. I offered to buy another tee time with a cart, since no one was paired with us and again he said no. After we warmed up we came back to the pro shop and visited with an Older employee and after sharing our situation he said no problem and gave us another cart. Before we could get to the cart the young man came running after us and said absolutely not. The whole time we played there they had 25 to 36 carts available sitting outside the pro shop. The biggest issue was the young man's smug attitude and power trip. I would of been happy to pay more for another cart or tee time. Wildcat needs to clearly disclose the riding cart rules on their website or somewhere or be willing to work with their patrons.
Great place to play. Both courses are in great shape and the views are amazing. Location is a big plus to meet friends around Houston.
I LOVED THIS COURSE!!!!!!! Some of the Bunkers needs attention and trying to figure out where the next Tee Box is can get confusing, but all in all it was a very challenging Course with alot of BLIND SHOTS, and FAST GREENS, so KNOW YOUR CLUBS DISTANCES! It's set up Links Style which means that it's wide open in areas, but it can CLEAN YOUR CLOCK if you're OFF! Can't wait to come back to this place so I can play the Lakeside Course!!!!!!!
Great place to play! Brought the whole squad and we had a blast, course conditions are good and the presentation is overall great. they offer military or police discount.
The standard bearer for all golf clubs in Texas. The most beautiful landscaping and elevation. This is the course that all the professionals play.
Course was in fantastic shape. Super friendly staff. Beautiful. Not an easy course but lots of fun.
Best golf course around! Top Tier course for good prices, and the owners are super down to earth. Love both courses
You can play the ball down on this golf course. Very few courses I have played have been this well kept. Greens roll true and smooth.
There are two courses. Lakes and highlands.
Two should be easily top 10 public courses in Houston. I played many times and never had bad experiences. Recommend it.
Went to play here on 3/6/22. Had a great time. Pace was on fast and acceptable. Played the lake side of the course. Lots of water at the beginning and end of the course. Lost several balls but still had fun. There was a lot of hills which made it a lot of fun as well. Would come back.
Good course and moderately challenging. Able to flex a lot of clubs in my bag that do not usually get as much attention. Motivated me to work on my pitch. Sticking my shots was a challenge on the small greens with hazards. Will be back soon
My wife and I came to this golf course on vacation. It’s an absolutely stunning course! We played the highlands course, I was very impressed. Fairways and greens were in excellent condition. I will definitely be back next time I’m in Houston!
Beautiful golf course! Great place to play!
A fun course to play. Plenty of fairway to hit. The course is always in a pristine condition. I mainly play on weekdays and almost always have the course all to myself which I really like because it does cost a bit more here compare to other public courses in Houston. So not being backed up and have to wait on the tees is always appreciated.
Great golf course
Great course however greens are not very good and overall course shape is not well manicured
This is a nice, challenging golf course with some fascinating blind shots and great views. The negatives include torpedo grass mixing in with Bermuda grass, and small stones in the bunker on the first hole. I had a good time over all. It may be tougher than the slope rating shows on the score card.
Liked being here. Very good maintenance. Strong hospitality.
Tim the owner very 'there' and Club house manager super neat.
Course looks great!
Definitely worth a visit!!
Great track but lots of blind shots
Favorite public course in Houston. Probably one of the easiest courses in Houston too, with wide open fairways. Nothing makes me like a course more than playing well on it…
The Highlands course is a beautiful and fun course. Some of the best fairways and greens I have played on. Beautiful views of Houston including the Astrodome and NRG stadium. Challenging but fun at the same time.
Love both courses and the staff. Very challenging courses kept in good comdition.
I love this course, it is hard and easy at the same time. Had a bad day out there today. But look at the sunset!!!
Would have given the facility a 4 today but several of the greens had major dead spots and some were patched over with sod. The rest of the course was in good shape. On a sad note, my playing partner had his truck broken into in the parking lot. The pro was helping to make things right. We appreciate that. The course management needs to get a camera roadside on every car that comes through the gate. Let it be known as you pass into the parking lot you are being recorded. That ruined an otherwise great of golf.
Highlands is a great course, you get elevation, great fairways, and exceptional greens. Also the pace of play is phenomenal. I highly recommend playing here, it’s nicer than courses that cost 100-130 to play.
Beautiful course, and the staff was very friendly. Was there for a tournament event as a sponsor, so I wasn't playing the course and my experi was not typical. All the same it was a great one.
Highlands course is a good course but it's a challenge with some blind shots. Buy the yardage guide since the carts DO NOT
have GPS. Highlands is a link style but it's not really links. The ball will run forever through the rough and into the woods/hazards. I played in May and the course was in very good shape. Greens were in excellent condition. Cool views of Houston from many holes.
Lakes course is easier if you can avoid the water. Again the yardage book is a must or get paired up with a local.
Food was good and decently priced. Staff was very helpful. I would recommend this course to anyone lower than a 15 handicap.
Played both Highland and Lake courses and they are both great tracks. With the rolling hills, you hardly feel like you’re in Houston. Tee to green is in great shape. I do wish they had a walking rate/option but I’m always down to get a round in at Wildcat.
I have been playing at Wildcat for many years and the courses have typically been in consistently good shape ...... particularly the greens. Played there last Saturday and the greens were in terrible shape. I would not have left this negative review, but what really upset me is that they charged me and my guests full price (~$96 each) to play.
Come on guys! I don’t mind paying full Weekend rates for good greens, but the greens currently are the worst I have ever played there and worst than some courses that are almost half the price. Me and my friends will not be returning any time soon.
It's a treasure mine of a golf course, with plenty of amazing views. A yellow ball is easy to see due to the sky backdrop and the layout will challenge short hitters and far hitters alike. Greens are fun and fairways swindle around lake resovoirs. The staff service and equipment are great, making the overall experience memorable any time of the year. Great place for corporate outings.
These guys hosted a tournament for our school, and did an amazing job taking the burden away from the charity and taking it on themselves. First class planning assistance, amenities, and experience. Pace of play was great for a tournament, the course was in good shape, and the shot making is always challenging. I appreciate what they did to go above and beyond to make the experience good for our guests, knowing it reflected as much on us as them. I recommend the tournament experience highly - no hassle, and a can-do attitude.
Today was my 1st time playing Wildcat Highlands. Excellent golf experience. The course was in great shape an the the greens were true. I'll definitely play this course again when I'm in town.
Got a deal online to play here and was very pleasantly surprised. Wonderful layout, what minimal interaction I had with staff was professional and courteous. I'm not sure why anyone would post a negative review about this place, I had a fantastic time. I can see it being tough on a hack, however, due to the elevation.... it's rather windy. I'll definitely be going back again and again. Awesome spot.
Highland course is lots of fun, hilly, and challenging but also fairly forgiving. Love it. Go there if you can.
Awesome course with great elevation changes with a view of downtown.
The best use of a landfill in Houston! Seriously, this place is built on a retired landfill. What that provides you is something that you do not get often with a course in Houston - elevation! The views of the city are excellent, but the drawback is that you will most likely be dealing with wind all day (sometimes that is worth the sacrifice with Houston heat.) There are 2 courses that I have played are the Highlands and Lakes. In my opinion, the Highlands course is probably less difficult. Not as much water (obviously) but you are still dealing with thick rough and a regular blind shot. I would consider myself an average golfer and I always lose a few golf balls because at Wildcat, if you hit the ball into the rough - you are not getting it out (it is very thick.) With the Lakes course, you will deal with water and a few blind shots similar to the Highlands course. Every time I have played Wildcat, the greens have played very fast so keep that in mind.
If you are looking for a challenging course, with elevation and great views of the city - Wildcat is an excellent choice. Prices are from $60-80 per round, depending on if you play during the weekend or book a weekend tee time. Give it a try, I think you will be pleased.
Nice 36 hole layout with hills and undulation. Played hear countless times and can say that the conditions are always above average for Houston courses. The reason I cannot give it five stars is because of the price. At peak rates or without a hot deal, there are too many other courses around Houston that are better bang for the buck i feel like.
Great public course in Houston. The length of the course not good for my lousy game but overall a well kept, well run Club!
Place is beautiful! Well worth the price. Staff is exceptional and grounds are kept clean beautiful views from several points on the course. Be warned; this course is unforgiving
Best course in Houston by far. Greens and course conditions are great. Highly recommend.
It was quite an experience to play on a golf course with oil derrick pumps running. The course has some interesting terrain and plenty of water.
The driving range sits on a hill and gives you a panoramic view if the club house and the course.
The club house is pretty nice and the staff was great.
Literally incredible. The course is unbelievable and the burger might have been the best of my life. 5 stars doesn't do it justice
Im a weekend golfer.Been a couple yrs since I've played there. Course was in great condition, club house was fantastic. The reason for me leaving this random post is to warn beginners and intermediate golfers THESE COURSES ARENT KIND AT ALL! I almost pawned my clubs on the way home. Just take a drop and bypass the tee boxes and you'll have a better time. That track is tough!!!!
Great layout on both courses. Great views of surrounding Houston area. Extremely friendly staff
Best course
Very nice course, pace of play was great. Better than your average public course.
Really enjoy this course. Lots of challenges for sure.
Tough couse. Lots of elevation change.
Nice and clean, good driving range that tip off on the grass. Only thing to complain is that you have to go to the office to get code for ball vending machine and there is no parking in front of the office
Two great courses at one picturesque location which enjoys panoramic views of the Houston skyline. The Highlands course is a rolling hills layout that meanders back and forth through itself and the treacherous Lakes course with its mix of holes and middle set of holes that will devour your balls with all its water hazards. Usually a bit pricey in the morning but twilight rates are very reasonable.
Second visit to this fantastic golf club for a charity tournament. Great course, carts and crew to ensure a memorable day on the course and at the clubhouse. Can't wait to get back.
Decent conditions and pace of play on weekends. Nice practice facility and clubhouse. Both courses are pretty short from blues, so you don't need a big drive to put up low scores.
Course is great, booking a tee Time is horrific.
Worst experience ever, I book twice a week for our group of 8/12 golfers. We have played this course many times
I
We have played this course several several times, will not return, using the their booking system
My favorite place to play in Houston. It's a really gorgeous course considering how near in town it is, and it's got some of the only real hills in Houston since it's built on a former landfill. The holes can be pretty aggressively built and the roughs unforgiving, so bring extra balls, but I enjoy the challenge.
The driving range isn't flat from the back tee, so if they place you on the back tees to warm up don't feel like you are going to get a feel for how you are hitting the ball that day. If you have a choice of courses to play, play the Lakes Course, it is a far cry away from anything you will play locally in the area. The Lakes Course is a good layout, there are a few gimicky holes but for the most part, what you see is what you get. The course is always in pretty good shape for the amount of play it receives. The Highlands Course is always in good shape, however there are a significant amount of blind shots, pay close attention the yardage on the card and then double check it once you get to the tee box, this course is all about ball placement. Overall both courses are worth the $65 dollar fee, however beware, if you play this either courses in the afternoon you may be looking at a 5 hour round. The Marshalls at this course don't make their rounds and surely don't push pace of play.
The range has improved. I've actually enrolled in the range membership. It's the best range in the area for sure. The short game area is a little walk but has a variety of shots you can practice and is usually not crowded. The staff has been friendly and accommodating.
Nice courses. Lakes course can be a little difficult to higher handicapped players with all the water. we prefer the Highlands course which has it challenges if you don't keep your ball in play as well. Give it a try!
Let's get real here.. If you are a ball-losing, foul-mouthed, five-putting, push-slicer then yes, you will hate this place. If you are a gentleman who respects himself enough to have some control over your shot-making, then you will love this place. It isn't for beginners. Unfortunately for many, even with ten or more years of experience with the game, you are still beginners or at least play and act like it. Play it forward, club down, get control of your game. You are there to play the course and you whiny types leave feeling that the course played you. AND HURRY UP if you stink at golf. I found this track challenging and aesthetically pleasing. It's links golf. It's not flat lies, it's challenging. Grow up, stop blaming the course for your crappy play, get some lessons, slow your swing down, stop making up for a poor shot with three more then cursing because you stink. You need help from the club back if you whine about this track.. Love this place, can't stand the idiots who come there, however.
I went here last summer because I wanted to try a new sports. The trainer I had was very patience to me. If you want to learn or want your child to learn the basic of Golf, then Wildcat Club is near the city.
Great course and challenging! A must play course
This is the quintessential golf course in all of Houston. Two different courses, the Lakes and the Highlands. Both each with their own unique elements. The elevation of this golf course, which is built over a landfill, really makes it the most unique in Houston. Combine that would be stunning use of the city from the Fairway Hilltop sand you have a one-of-a-kind golf experience that cannot be duplicated in Houston. Excellent 19th Hole Hospitality in the clubhouse as well with a great selection of food and beverage. All the memorabilia from the Houston sports teams is a bonus!
I was a member for a number of years until I moved away from the area. I loved the challenge of both courses. Both courses are always well maintained and the views and elevation changes are unmatched in Houston.
My wife got me four rounds through Groupon, I love playing here. Greens are always amazing, the staff is top notch, I highly recommend this course if you would like to play on a challenging layout.
Wildcat Golf Club, built on a former landfill site, is home to the 18-hole Lakes and Highlands courses. Both these well-rated and pleasantly testing championship layouts are Roy Case designs. These open parkland layouts should not disappoint, with many attractive features and several excellent holes to enjoy. Worth including on your play list if you are in the area.
Terrific staff and golf…both courses are great fun to play with very different challenges on each.
Truly a WildCat Experience! #17 comes with extra obstacles. 👍❤⛳ …
Just had a lesson with Connor Black - WOOHOO, he is a spectacular teacher, his communication is spot on and figures out how to make you understand the concept he is teaching, and.... he is a pretty amazing young man!!!
Course is in great shape! Need som attention to sections by the golf cart. Erosion has become an issue. Other than that great course, great hospitality!
Haven't played a ton of courses in houston but this one is always a good time. Good greens, challenging course and nice staff. Would reccomend
Great and very different tracks (there are two), and some really challenging holes..highlands course is a shot management course where often getting a little off of the first cut means dropping a ball.
Hard to believe it's built on a dump yard! Beautiful course with lots of elevation that you can't find anywhere else in H-Town. Got one price on the phone and a higher price when we got there?
Great golf course every time I play here I play the highlands the fairways, tee box and greens are in great shape but try to stay away from the high rough and blind spot try to play it safe in each hole. The staff are nice don't believe what people say about them about being rude and the price to go play at wildcat is not that much $80 a lot of people complain about the price but if you can't afford it too bad golf is not for you play a different sport you can afford. The restaurant is great good food and drink they have a beer girl riding around the course selling drinks and snacks and the view from reliant stadium and the astrodome is nice.
Friendly & Helpful people work there
Very Good courses!!!
2nd visit to Wildcat. First visit I played on the Lakes course in (2011), this time (June 2016) I played on the Highlands course. Both courses are beautiful courses with very challenging setups. NEITHER course is for beginners. Unlike most Texas courses, these fairways are comprised of tall grasses/thick brush/marshes. In other words, if you often hit wayward shots, there is NO punching out. You will lose golf balls and drop shots unless you can manage your game here.
That being said, for the better and straighter golfer, these will be great challenges offering unique views of Houston with exceptional service and moderate value provided to players.
Service - Exceptional. Everyone I dealt with was overly hospitable while carrying a pleasant attitude.
Value - Moderate. Not a cheap round if paying full price. But offers more as a course and facility than other similarly prices courses in Houston metro.
My only 2 cons are that 1) I thought for a relatively dry 2 weeks in Houston, the fairways were wetter than they should have been. Meaning, less roll out from drives and longer 2nd shots. And 2) the bunkers were too shallow for a course of this quality. As such, many bunkers had little sand or were hard-pan bunkers with no sand. This may be due to the massive rains Houston has experienced since the Tax Day flood, but deepening the bunkers would address this. These are the only 2 reasons keeping it from a 4.5 - 5 rating.
We love our Wildcat family! Since 2012 we have held our annual Jamie's Hope Golf Tournament for a Cure event at Wildcat Golf Club. They have been very accommodating and flexible with us since day one to ensure we have a great fundraiser. We sincerely appreciate their kindness and especially Nick's help with our tourney each year. Thank you Wildcat!!
Great course. Very nice greens
Love this place. Challenging golf spot and beautiful city views
Difficult greens. Course is challenging. Scenery varies from awesome views of the city to awful views of power lines and storage tanks.
Beautiful course! Will be back a lot more.
Great day great course
Awesome day
It's an average golf course. The only reason to play there is if they have a great special.
Wings in the clubhouse are terrific.
Small but z difficult course
Excellent course in very good conditions. Staff there is great as well. You should try the Lakes. Great design...
Nice public golf camp
Played the Lake course, top notch public course, well maintained.
Never had an issue playing at this course. Challenging with a lot of elevations which is nice for Houston. Overall pleasant experience.
Great course with lots of challenging terrain
In Texas that's one of the best golf courses you can play I know there are others but it was cool
Unique courses for the area.
Very enjoyable day on the links !!
Great tourney...beer cart service was excellent...greens kinda slow.
Great courses, management, and food. Lakes or Highlands, doesn't matter. Both are unique and equally challenging.
I played the Lakes course. Loved the layout and in great shape. Greens were challenging.
Great course, really well maintained. Greens are clean but inconsistent pace (as a heads up)
Nice Corse but if you are just going to the range you will have a good walk to the back with out a cart; they did offer a ride there once
Very friendly and good place
Kept in great shape, generally not crowded, both corses are well laid out, lot of elevation changes....A must play
Fairways were good eventhough is so hot. Greens were aerated so not the best but the course is still in good shape
Friendly staff and challenging well kept course.
Went here to deliver products ordered from SPEC'S. Very nice facility and friendly staff. Thank you for your patronage.
My absolute favorite courses in Houston. Highlands > Lakes in my opinion but they are both fantastic.
Course is in good shape and playing tough. Enjoyed my round I will be back soon
Great course and fun layout
Medium difficulty, clean cut fairways
And real nice consistent greens speed and great conditions
Traveled from San Antonio to play. Lakes is Awesome and Challenging Course. I will be back.
Perfect place for fun . Great staff as well. Good atmosphere very beautiful property. Good food and great people. The food was awesome .

Both courses are a lot of fun!
Incredible layout and was in FANTASTIC condition! Well worth every $$
Beautiful courses. Well maintained. Friendly people and atmosphere
Great golf course very challenging
Awesome course always kept in great condition - great value - great staff and the Vista Grill serves excellent food.
Good prices. There are 2 different 18 hole courses to pick from. Both great to play on.
Not a golfer, was there for an event so I can't say if it is a great course or not but the clubhouse was ok.
Course was in great shape. Wonderful and safe food service.
Thank you Nick, Bianca and all the staff for your help today! Thank you for accommodating our annual golf tournament fundraiser.

Pretty hard course to play well. Lots of water and have to stay in the fairways to be successful.

This is a very nice course and the people are very nice.
Wir haben kürzlich dort den "Lakes GC" gespielt. Ein toller und anspruchsvoller Platz mit viel Wasser, der viel Spaß gemacht hat, auch wenn man den einen oder anderen Ball verliert. Sehr zuvorkommendes Personal. Sehr gerne wieder.
relatively well maintained
Nic3...
