Excellent municipal course. Friendly folks running the place and not too uptight. Price is just right for those wanting to play golf instead of show off their wallet. Pace of play can be slow, but that's fine with me. Clubhouse is on the left side of the brick building that is shared with the community center. Very little water and pretty simple layout, perfect for beginners and intermediate. Excellent care of the course.

This is a great course for all golf lovers. Fairways are wide and forgiving, greens are well maintained, and the course in all is not over challenging. For the price it’s a great value. Will definitely be coming back after my first time.

Very nice course. Staff and starter are extremely nice. Challenging but fun fairways. Very flat course, (if your from NY) Driving range was nice, it’s cut a bit short though, only $7 or $9 for a decent size bag. Under $100 for 18 holes, 2 sets rental clubs, cart, balls, tees, and a bag for the driving range. Great value! Fun course, and really nice people.

I played here recently with a pleasant surprise. For a Saturday morning with all of the tee times booked it was not crowded or slow play. I was very nice and leisurely and still completed 18 in 3.5 hours. It’s course was in very good shape. The greens were maintained well and the bunker sand was nice and fluffy. Overall this was a pleasant experience. I will return soon They have a mini range kind of like a batting cage. Unique idea as I had not seen a course with one of these. Looks like about 8 to 10 mats. There is a putting green and a chipping green.

Great price! Course is in ok shape with a few holes with hard pan fairways. Green ok and rolled true fairly quick. Grass thin in fairways but for the price worth it. Layout pretty basic and a course that is easy to score on.

Surprisingly well-kept course with excellent greens. If you hit straight, then it will be an easy day, otherwise there are plenty of hard surfaces and large old trees ready to make it a tough round. Overall friendly atmosphere, and great staff. No modern frills on the carts, no beverage cart attendants, but a high-value for the money. It's the same course it has always been.

Just $15 for a round at 3:30 on a Wednesday which in Houston is pretty unheard of. As for the course, it's in pretty good shape, with the greens being the most impressive part. Rolled very true and were pretty quick as compared to the other muni's in the Houston area. Definitely will be coming back for an after work midweek round.

Course was pretty decent, especially considering we played in late December. Best feature were the greens, really nice actually. Rolled very quick, were smooth considering how many people play municipal courses, no dead spots, were receptive to shots coming in, and broke predictably. They were mostly flat, gentle breaks here and there. Not a whole lot of difference between the length of the fairways and the length of the rough, but fairways were in decent shape and rough wasn't too bad. There are drainage ravines sort of running through the fairways and the course that held a bit of moisture. Layout is pretty straightforward, holes are mostly straight with very gentle bends here and there, and is mostly wide open so you can miss pretty far left and right and still be safe. Not a whole lot of water on the course maybe two holes. Pretty fun to play because it's not super long for big hitters and the course was pretty fair around the greens.

Great course for the price. Just have to be careful as the marshall is a bit slow on the first green and things get backed up pretty quick on the weekends. No marshalls on course speeding up play which makes it tough to get a round in under 5 hours at times. Mix of carts and walkers also an issue. Still not a bad course.

This is an old course with many large, beautiful trees. They are what make the course difficult because most of the fairways are straight. The greens were fast. Not many sand traps. However, it is greatly in need of more watering. There was a lot of hard packed dirt that I had to hit off. However, it is inexpensive also.

We do an annual golf tournament at Sharpstown Golf Course in honor of my father-in-law who loved the game of golf. The pro and staff are very accommodating and helpful and always make our event very special. Prince's Burgers catered our lunch at a very reasonable cost. The burgers were some of the best I've ever had. The staff worked hard to make sure our food was ready and warm when the golfers finished their games. It is always a great day!

Best value golf course in Houston. I play here just about every Saturday. Pace of play is an issue at times. I'm willing to deal with it because it's nice knowing more people are playing golf than usual. As a lefty, the back nine is fun. Will always refer people here as I learned the game at this course.

Greens were surprisingly in good shape and fast. But the fairways are hard pan. My issue with this place is the starter is rude for no reason. Showed up to the 1st tee 5 minutes ahead of my tee time, was told by the starter that I obviously don’t play golf cause I would have known to be at the tee 15 min Early. Didn’t matter; they were 10 min behind. Starter demanded (twice) for us to get out of the cart and stand on the tee box even though the group ahead was only 100 yards away still walking to hit their second shot.

Pretty good course if you can get on during the week. It gets pretty slow on weekends and isn't worth paying full price IMO. But ~$20 for 18 holes after work can't be beat. The rough isn't very well manicured (lots of hard, dead spots under all the trees) but the tees, fairways and especially the greens are all well kept.

Update: Dropped from 4 to 3 stars because of pace of play. Played a 5 hour round yesterday and the front nine was almost 3 hours. The back nine picked up a little because it seems like most groups lost a player when they made the turn (probably couldn't stand the pace of play). The course has almost always been in pretty decent shape when I've played here. The biggest drawback is the pace of play. On the weekend, they still send out 5-somes and nobody ever urges players to pick up the pace. The course is not so hard that it should take 4.5 hours to play. The pro shop is bare bones and basic, but does the job. Overall, it's a nice course and I like playing it, but I know to expect a slower round. If you haven't played this course at least once, you definitely should, but I would recommend a weekday round so you won't lose 5 hours on the course.

Played a quick 9 holes. Good for getting a quick round in. Staff in the office wasn’t the friendliest but otherwise had a good experience. Didn’t make a reservation beforehand but was able to still jump on. No driving range but there is a cage to hit balls.

I golf here more than any course since my first round played July 3, 2015. I like the course and most of staff are friendly and helpful. Green fees are the best value in Houston. Some time the rounds go slow due to players stacking up, but golfers normally kind. I've met good people at Sharpstown golf course.

First time playing here and it was good fun. We were paired with another twosome that played the course before - so that helped a lot. The greens were really fast and it took a few holes to adjust to the speed. Got an eagle on the short par 5 with a long 20 foot putt - so I did adjust well!! We will be back again, The itsy bitsy negatives: a) We were in a cart and were paired with a couple of players who were walking. So, while the speed of play suffered a bit, although we enjoyed the company. Yes, you can walk, rent a push cart or an electric cart at this course. b) The cart does not have a GPS - I had my GPS watch so it was not an issue. c) No drinks cart - get your drinks at the turn and/or when you start. d) The holes were a little too close and an erratic shot could easily hit someone on the next fairway. I had my cart plastic windshield up the whole time and one of the group members had a ball whiz by - too close for comfort. e) I wish the fairways had the 150 yard marker pole. Sometimes it was difficult to see which direction was the center of the fairway. All in all, for the price and value, it was a good experience.

Came for a kids tournament and the staff was very helpful and additionally they have golf at an affordable cost. Ever since Bear Creek closed down this is the only place nearby that we can afford consistently. Thanks for allowing the game to be available and affordable to regular joes like us.

Great place. Since Harvey wiped a dozen corses on west Houston Sharpstown team have been the very best at taking up the void for local golfers. They get 5 Stars in my view...BTW: NEW NEW NEW--Prince's Hamburger's under Big John a family burger business since 1940s has opened its newest burger stop right there in the Sharpstown Club House--its great--has the look and feel we love about Princes -- a life size Elvis at the door greets you coming in (a first I thought it was Big John ) ...fun decor--great burgers. A 5 STAR EXPERIENCE WITH GREAT GOLFING--

Today I left the iphone in the cart; As I was putting my clubs in my car an young employee drove up and asked if this was my cart, #55. I said yes. He says is this your scorecard, I say yes. He says is his your cell phone? YES! I tried to give him some money for returning it but he kept saying no, we can't take tips, What's up with that? Anyways, thank you young man for your honesty and smart thinking. Course was in great shape, greens smooth and lightning fast. Seniors get a free cart on Friday before 10.

This is a good Muni course. I just played it last weekend. Right now (Aug 2013) they are doing a lot of construction, so the greens are actually 50 yards ahead in the fairway as they prep the actual greens. I see dirt mounds around as they prep sand traps and such. For a muni, the course is in good enough shape. not much trouble, unless you slice or hook, and even then for most holes, you will just have to play from another hole. The course is pretty cheal too...$16 walking, and $22 riding if I remember it correct. I also like the fact that you can just play with others who are on the course if you dont already have a 4-some. there is a batting cage-like driving area as well for $4...cant see your ball go long, but you can get the feel of ball striking if you are so inclined.

Sharpstown Golf Course is a Great golfing practice from beginners to experience golfers of all ages, and for Seniors n Schoolers n collegiates. The golf course offers challenges to all golfers and fun to play. They offer discounts to Seniors over 65 years. Try it and you will like it. Rarely do you lose your ball. They have sand traps n creeks n water n woods. Come enjoy.

An American neighborhood golf course where a par 4 over 400 yards is quite burdensome.. I don't like grass.. I don't know if I compared it too much to a Korean golf course... A lot of animals come in.
